Nora Roberts knows how to write stories that engage readers and keep them turning pages. I do not typically care for ghost stories, but I enjoyed this book. The revelation of the stories the lost brides kept the plot moving and helped explain ghostly occurrences. Even if everyone except a certain ex-fiancé was a little too perfect, I still liked the characters and found them relatable. I admired Sonya’s confidence and determination to strike out on her own after her fiancé’s betrayal. I wasn’t completely convinced by the backstory revelation about her father’s path to adoption, but it worked as a plot device to move Sonya into place for the story. There should be a playlist to accompany this book so that readers can listen as Clover spins relevant tunes. Fair warning: this book is the first in a trilogy and concludes with a cliffhanger.

4.5 stars out of 5- rounded up to 5!

I absolutely loved this book! It captivates you from the very beginning and that ending! I was left wanting more and cannot wait for the next book in the series! The first book is no doubt setting everything up for whats to come in the following books.

Sonya's life is falling apart in Boston after she finds her cousin in bed with her Fiancé. Now that the wedding is off, Sonya quits her job as a graphic designer at a company to start freelancing. She finds out her father had a twin brother and they were separated at birth. Her fathers brother died recently and left the family manor in Maine to Sonya. She ends up negotiating terms to the Will and will try a 3 month trial period at the manor to see if she likes it, before moving in full time. Once she arrives, weird paranormal activities start to occur. She accepts that the manor is haunted and she finds herself wanting to know the story of the lost brides- 7 brides have died there tragically. At the same time, we get to know Sonya, her new budding business, and more about the Poole family history. A love story is thrown in the mix too between Sonya and Trey- who is a lawyer and whose father delivered the news to Sonya about the Will and the manor.

Overall, this story has so much going on and the ending leaves you with a cliffhanger, you need to read the second book to find out more. Inheritance has a great cast of characters who are both likable and fun. As usual, Nora Roberts has created a masterpiece and I cannot wait to read on to find out how this story ends.

A big thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Oh my gosh! What an intriguing story. Loved it! Can’t wait for the next one. Keeps you on your toes and has a magical setting. Coast of Maine , haunted manor house. You must read this one.!

The first book in The Lost Brides trilogy, Inheritance starts a little slow setting things up. And then a lawyer arrives at the door and things take off. All in all, another excellent beginning to one of NR's trilogies. Although I have to admit I kinda said "Damn you Nora Roberts" when I reached the end because now I have to WAIT for the next books. I really didn't want it to end, especially where it did. How long will I have to wait for the next book? I believe normally it is about a year, but I am hoping for a shorter time frame.

Book one of a trilogy.

A good chunk of the book was spent setting up the overarching storyline and getting you ready for book two. That said, it has a promising start. Romance between Sonya (heroine) and Trey (hero) was OK.

As this ends on a huge cliffhanger and hint of possible romance between Cleo (heroine’s bff) and Owen (heroine’s cousin).

Note: I’m used to reading first person pov. This is written in third person. So this took some time getting used to. I was often confused who was saying what. This could use some cleaning up.

Another great book by Nora Roberts! Her writing style just brings you into the story as if you’re right there. You cannot put this book down! Nora Robert’s never disappoints!

OH NO!!! What happens next? This is such a good story and I really want to know the next part of the story. How cool is it that as her life is falling apart in Boston she inherits the family home. The haunted home of family she never knew. I think we all would love that opportunity.. A manor with a water view is awesome. So what if it has dead ancestors roaming the halls. Sonya is talented and can work anywhere with internet access. So she moves to the manor. What are the lawyers not telling her about the place? The book is not just her story. And her relationship with Trey is a fun read. It is of the brides that lived before her. Brides have loved and died in the manor. I look forward to the next book in the series. This one pulled me in. I loved it!

This is the first installment of a trilogy. Nora always does an excellent job of putting the reader in quaint and picturesque settings. The first book is predominantly setting things up for the other books, but we get a great cliffhanger in the end. The book follows Sonya who is required to live in a mansion left to her by relatives, the catch being the mansion is haunted. The house is its own character and has its own past, with love but also tragedy. Now Sonya must make it her own, and has evil and romance to contend with!

I received this from NetGalley and St. Martin's Press in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book in The Lost Bride Trilogy. As it ends in a cliffhanger, you will need to read Book 2 as soon as it's available. As this is a very engaging and suspenseful page turner, I can't wait for the next book.

Sonya unexpectedly learns that a previously unknown uncle - her late father's twin brother - has died and left her a sizeable inheritance, featuring a manor on the coast of Maine. In order to claim her legacy, she needs to move and live in the manor for 3 years. When she arrives, she experiences different phenomena, including spirits who play music that fits with what's happening at the moment, turn on fires, clean up dishes, make her bed, etc. She also sees shadows on the widows walk and dreams of events in the house's past. She comes to accept that the manor is haunted and is intrigued by the mystery of the lost brides. The house is somewhat infamous as the site of the death of 7 brides.

In between the spooky events, we get to know the town of Poole's Bay and its residents, see Sonya in action as she builds her business as a graphic artist, and meet Sonya's mother, best friend, and handsome love interest.

Roberts has written a compelling mystery and created a very appealing heroine and cast of supporting characters.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy.

I am usually an avid reader but had not read anything for almost two months. However when I saw that I could read this book before it was published I jumped at the chance. Thank you Net Galley for this opportunity. I had not read Nora Roberts until Nightwork and then Identity and loved them both so much I had to read Inheritance and it did not disappoint.. Once I read the first page I just wanted to keep reading it. While I am not usually one for the supernatural it worked well in this book. Sonya is a strong a resilient woman and Cleo is such fun. Trey and Owen are not bad either. The only downside is the wait until I can read the next book in the trilogy.

OMG this one has ALL the feels. Absolutely fabulous characters in a more than gothic setting. I couldn't stop turning pages. I read till 4 a.m. This is the first time I've reviewed a book this far in advance, and that's actually my only problem. Its the first in a trilogy, and im dyyyyyying over the end. NO SPOILERS but dont miss this one! Thank you to Netgalley for the wonderful opportunity.

Oh my gosh. This book is nothing short of amazing. There’s a little bit of romance, but the main focus are the Lost Brides. I love the banter between the characters, and the creepy feel that is not over the top. I read this during a tornado warning and boy did it fit right in with the atmosphere!!! I absolutely loved every word in this book, and the friendships / relationships that Sonya had. Cannot wait for book 2!!

Definite 10 Stars
This book is so engrossing, it had me hooked from the first page.
I love all the suspense and spooky ghost stuff. There’s romance too but it’s not the main part of the plot. I love all the characters, living and not, they’re all so interesting and really work well together, especially Sonya, Trey, Cleo and Owen. They all came together to help solve the mystery of The Lost Brides. And man….that cliffhanger is a good one. Can’t wait for the next book.

The Nora Roberts I love and adore is back! Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Identity, but I've always loved Nora's trilogies more and this one is no exception. And the main character being a graphic/web designer who decides to strike out on her own was just a bonus for me!! Guess who else is a freelance website designer :))

Sonya inherits an old manor from an uncle never knew, and no surprises, the manor is haunted by so many ghosts - most of them good but one is just pure evil. All the characters - Sonya, Cleo, Owen, and Tray - are real and likeable.

The book ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

WHAT A BOOK! The start of this trilogy had everything a reader could want- a heroine who would be a perfect best friend, suspense, witty dialog, some book boyfriend material and enough paranormal to keep you invested and waiting with baited breath for the next revelation. I throughly enjoyed falling into the Lost Bride world and feeling as though you were in the book with them. And that cliffhanger? Immediate anticipation for the next book!

Reading the description of this one, I wasn’t completely sure what to expect! Especially coming off The Dragon Heart Legacy Trilogy. But I was honestly pleasantly surprised with this one! If you liked The Inn Boonsboro trilogy, I think this series will be up your alley!

Sonya inherits a house from an uncle she didn’t know existed. The caveat? It’s haunted and she must live there for three years before it’s fully hers. Soon she realizes that she didn’t just inherit a house, but a curse she must try and break.

This is the first book in The Lost Bride Trilogy, and I really enjoyed it! I loved Cleo and Sonya’s mom! And Trey is the perfect hero for Sonya in this story! What I did not like was the cliffhanger ending I knew we were getting! 🤣 I’m really curious to see where the rest of this story goes and cannot believe we have to wait a year plus for book 2😭 I also cannot wait to add this book to my Nora shelf when the paperback comes out!

This book releases in November, and you don’t want to miss it if you like paranormal romance! I did receive and early copy of this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved this book! It reminds me of vintage Nora Roberts books that I read in the early 2000s when I first started reading her books. The haunted house and curse were really compelling. Perfect blend of mystery, romance and a bit of a gothic vibe. Really excited for the rest of the trilogy, especially after that cliffhanger.

What a great book. From the beginning we the fiancé to the end i could not put this down. The name “son” threw me a few times but i know it was short for Sonya. I can’t imagine how big that house must have been with all the rooms. Some she never went in. Cloe was a very good friend and I can’t wait till Hester gets her comeuppance. She was a nasty witch. Trey and Owen were we the good guys and all of trey’s family. I guess I will have a long time to go till books 2 and 3 come out.

5 So Thankful Stars

So decades ago I discovered Nora Roberts and fell in love with her writing and romance. She did a book about brides and I read all three books of the series as soon as I could get them.
When I saw this, I clicked as fast as my little hands could move. This is the first of a trilogy and I cannot wait to see where the master takes us.

Strap in, get ready and fall hard for this new series.

Nora's done it again. She never fails to amaze me with her talent. And I've read every book she's ever written. There's just no other author that compares. “Inheritance”, the first novel in the “Lost Bride” Trilogy, pulls the reader in with mysterious intrigue, Gothic paranormal activity in, what else? A haunted mansion, and found family “inheritance” that's totally unexpected, and dangerous.

An amazing cast of characters blend into the storyline of past and present, taking the reader on their journeys in the haunted manor house of family secrets, tragedies...and ghosts...
on the wild coastline of Maine. What better setting?

A fan of all Nora's trilogies, this one I devoured in one evening, and then started reading a second time. It's just that good. A lot of mysterious intrigue, a bit of well-written romance, (strong, resiliant women, men with integrity and passion) a heart-breaking historical past of tragedies that follow the family for generations, plus a centuries-old curse. But there's humor too...in only the magic of Nora to make me laugh out loud. And the characters! Nora has a way, and makes you care about them, laugh and cry with them. And did I mention that there's dogs...and ghosts? If you loved Nora's “Inn Boonesboro” or “The Garden” trilogies, you'll be enthralled with this one.

Be prepared for the cliffhanger of all cliffhangers! I did a double-take at the end, thinking that there had to be more, please please please, but nope. Nora leaves the reader panting for the next installment. What a master of intrigue. Fans of Nora, old and new, will want to grab this one as soon as it's released.

My thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read in advance, and as ever to Nora Roberts, for fabulous “Calgon, Take Me Away” moments. What an awesome read. Five stars, and more!
