The Queen of the slow burn has done it again! I finished this book in less than a day because I had to see what the heck was going on, and what was going to happen. After she finds her fiance in Flagrante delecto with her cousin, Sonya kicks him to the curb. Unfortunately, they still work together at a graphic design house. The creepy ex makes her life miserable so she decides to quit and go freelance. Just as this decision is made, a lovely lawyer shows up at her apartment and tells her a tale so fantastical, she can hardly believe it. Her dead father had a twin, who has just died and has left her a sizable fortune which includes a mansion in Maine. the only stipulation? She has to spend 3 years in it to inherit it fully.
Sounds like a plan, so Sony packs up and moves. What happens next is the stuff of fairy tales and nightmares.
No one told her the house was haunted. I mean, really haunted. And that 7 brides had been killed in the house - most on their wedding days. It's up to Sonya to find the key to releasing all their spirits.
Told in Robert's most wonderful writing precision, everything in this book was done to perfection - the back story, the front story, the cast of characters, even the ghosts - yes, ghosts as in plural - are all wonderful. This is the first in a three-part story and I can't wait until part 2 releases! 5 stars and marvelously done!

Thank you to Net Galley and St. Martins press for the arc of Inheritance. Nora Roberts at her best. The novel combines romance and mystery with the supernatural . The setting, a haunted manor house in Maine. This absorbing book almost forces you read it in one sitting, wanting to know what happens next. The only drawback to me is the cliffhanger ending. Now I will have to patiently wait for the next is the series!

This was an excellent book! It flowed well, it scared me, and the ending was unbearable! There’s one correction- page 277, 9th paragraph where it says “yoga” instead of “Yoda” otherwise I saw no editing mistakes or misspellings. I cannot wait until the next book!!

Book 1 in the Lost Bride Trilogy…
See what happens when one inherits a house. With all its hidden secrets, for one to explore and find all the dirty deeds.

What’s a better way to get over a horrible break-up of finding your fiancée in your bed with your cousin, it is to find out your father has a long lost twin who has left you an incredible manor in Maine and a trust to help maintain said manor. Sonya MacTavish couldn’t believe this to be true, but it is. There is just one catch. The manor is haunted with the previous inhabitants, that all be felled a horrible death at the hands of witch.
So, what’s a girl to do? Move to Maine, try your hand at building your own business, and oh yeah, so a century old mystery and release the “lost brides” of Lost Bride Manor.
When I say, I could NOT put down this book….I COULD NOT PUT DOWN THE BOOK!!! Nora Roberts has done it again by blending a little romance, a little mystery and a lot of intrigue.
Pros to the booK: Fast paced, great story building, steady reading flow, wonderful character building
Cons: First part of a series (why is this a con, because like all great series starters, this ends in a bit of cliff hanger)
I give this book a solid 5 of 5 stars. Cannot wait for other parts of the series.
I was to give a huge thank you to St Martian’s Press and NetGalley for letting me read this advance copy.

A quick fun read, but what a cliff-hanger…
I’ve read and liked many of the “In Death” mysteries that Nora Roberts has written using the pen name, JD Robb. But I have never read any of her romances or romantic suspense books. So I was excited to be offered an advance review copy of Inheritance, which is the first in the new Lost Bride trilogy. And I found the book to be thoroughly enjoyable – until, that is, it ended in a whopping cliff-hanger about the size of the Cliffs of Moher. Of course, I do understand that longer multiple-book story arcs will necessarily have to stop with some elements unresolved, and even have some stuff specifically teed up for the next book. But this was such an abrupt and annoying end that I kept checking to see whether somehow the story continued, even after it became clear I really WAS at the end.
Other than the far-too-cliff-hanger-y ending, however, Inheritance was a fun quick read and hard to put down. Although the plot is a bit of a trope (unknown relative leaves younger relative a haunted mansion, on condition they come live in it), Roberts does a nice job of adding a fresh slant here-and-there. And, after all, tropes exist because they do work! On the character side, Sonya and Cleo are strong protagonists, and their different personalities mesh quite nicely, while also providing some moments of humor. There are some other engaging folks too, including three generations of the Doyle family (Sonya’s uncle’s attorneys, and also, apparently, his found family), and the dogs: Mookie, Yoda and Jones. And it doesn’t hurt at all that the youngest Doyle, Trey, is both a thoroughly nice guy, and thoroughly nice to look at…
But there’s more going on than just a modern-day romance. Lost Bride Manor has a murky past to disentangle, and readers get to follow along as Sonya and Cleo figure it out. If I had to give Inheritance a genre, I’d call it light-hearted Gothic. Sure, there’s a centuries-old family curse, and a very scary evil ghost. But there are also some fun and friendly mystical presences – including one who proves to be a particularly apt DJ on Sonya’s iPad; another who seems to enjoy (!!!) cleaning the huge mansion, thereby saving Sonya some money; and yet another who turns out to be an excellent dog-sitter, managing to teach Yoda more than one new trick.
All-in-all, absent the cliff-hanger, Inheritance would be a solid four-star read for me: lots of fun, and definitely recommended - but not a book I'm going to go back and re-read, and then re-read again. And, although I debated bumping it down a bit more just for the cliff-hanger, in the end, I decided that a warning would be enough. So, consider yourself forewarned, and if you hate cliff-hangers as much as I do, you might want to wait until all three books in the series are available before starting this one! Otherwise, read away…
Oh, and my thanks to St Martin’s Press and to NetGalley for the review copy!

Absolutely great book from Nora Roberts!
I can’t wait to read the next one in the series. It sucks you in right way and was disappointed when it ended because I want more!

As I am a huge Nora Roberts fan, I was thrilled to get a chance to read her upcoming novel in The Bride Trilogy," Inheritance". I must say this book roped me in on the first couple of pages. After finding her soon to be husband in bed with her cousin, Sonya Mctavish has to cancel wedding plans and deal with her ex at work. Several weeks of dealing with his childish and vengeful behavior leaves her with no other choice than to leave a job she loves in graphic design to start a business on her own. A knock on her door and an Uncle she never knew about change her life. Oliver Doyle II has just informed her that her father had an unknown twin and he as this uncles attorney, has come to tell her that she has inherited his Manor home in Maine. The only clause is that she must live in the home for three years. On a three month trial she learns that there is more to this home than meets the eye. Every first bride dies on her wedding day and several are haunting the home. This us a very enjoyable read and the author just draws you in so you feel you are living the story. I cannot wait for the 2nd book in the series and anxiously await the next part of the story!

I have to say this is one of the best books I’ve read in a while. As a Nora Roberts fan I shouldn’t be surprised. After dealing with a broken engagement Sonya, finds she inherits an immense manor that she must live in for 3 months. Once she gets there she finds if I’d haunted and not all of the ghosts want her there. I tore through this book anxious to find out what happens next. It has romance and suspense. Didn’t want it to end . Now I must wait for the next installment of the trilogy. It’s a must read

What can I say but Wow?!? The story grips you, slowly pulls you in. A wedding in the works, something happens. A new beginning, an inheritance, given away by the title, such an inheritance! Haunted! Love the different ghosts! And how she is learning them. An old college roomie that stays in close touch and helps with everything. A loving little companion. A new love interest. All such fascinating characters, alive and passed. And the artwork, hers and inherited, seems amazing. A wondrous setting, on a wild seacoast. What a book. And what an ending! All I can say is, can't wait for the next! Nora, you shot it out of the park!

The start of a new Nora Roberts trilogy is always an exciting event for her legion of fans. Book one of The Lost Brides trilogy, “Inheritance”, more than lives up to her trilogies of the past.
Sonya goes through a dramatic life change at the start of the book (no spoilers!) and then, out of nowhere, there is another that takes her to the village of Poole Bay, Maine. To the roots she never knew she had and to an amazing community of people and a house that was waiting for her. It’s a house that has stood for generations of her unknown family; a house of many secrets, much tragedy but also full of love. With the support of her best friend Cleo and Trey, a man she is coming to love, Sonya is determined to make Lost Bride Manor her home. But before the happily ever after, there is evil to overcome and secrets to unravel. In her inimitable way, Nora Roberts delivers yet another unputdownable tale that leaves us holding our breath!
Ms Roberts is a master of mood and detail as well as a story telling genius. Poole Bay is a perfect jewel of a small Maine town, one that brings back memories of places I’ve visited and I have such a clear mental image of it and the locals who live there. Strong feisty women abound and there is strength and integrity in the men around them (specifically in Poole Bay- again, no spoilers!). And aside from all of that, it’s a fabulous journey through a world that may not exist in reality (or might it?) but at no time was it feeling forced or impossible to believe. Quite the contrary!
The only issue I have is knowing when will book two be released! Because I’m desperate to stay in Poole Bay and continue the journey with Sonya, Trey, Cleo and Owen.
I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to everyone, not just to fans of sci-fi, paranormal or fantasy. And I can say that with honesty because they are not genres that are at the top of my list but I enjoyed every page of the book. So dive right in and begin the journey.
Thank you to St Martins Press and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this book.

Nora is back with another one of her more magical trilogies! These are my fave of hers (the circle trilogy was my intro to Nora back in high school) The start of inheritance is a little slow as she’s setting everything up.
Like I said, it started a little slow for me but once things picked up they got spooky and fun! The romance definitely takes a back seat to a lot of other things going on and while I could use a little more substance there I so enjoyed everything else going on!
I definitely need some ghosts who do chores for me in my life. And y’all, there’s a ghost boy who plays with her dog and teaches him tricks. It’s just so cute I can’t stand it! Unfortunately there’s also a nasty witch ghost in the house too. She does some seriously spooky stuff! Sonya and her friend Cleo (who I love and adore) are made of stronger stuff than me lol.
It does end on a fairly large cliffhanger, which sigh, but I can’t wait to see what happens next! If she follows her pattern we’re going to get more Cleo and Owen (who is way more my type than calm steady Trey) in the next one so I’m excited for that too!

Nora Roberts can write. I hate to have to wait for the next in this series..I want it now. But I'll probably read this again later

I enjoyed this book. I love the books that Nora Roberts writes. She writes a variety and i think this is the second best book she's written this year. I am grateful that netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review

Sonya is a graphic designer and is planning her wedding when she catches her fiance in bed with her cousin. She finds out her father had a twin brother, he never knew, and has left her a Victorian manor. She must live there for three years and so many weeks out of the year. She decides to take the chance and move.
Trey is a lawyer and knew her uncle very well. He greets her when she arrives and shows her around. The house is haunted but Sonya is determined to stay. Little things start happening and she starts dreaming or seeing each of the brides that died there and their death. There is also an evil presence that makes itself known. Sonya is told that she must find the seven wedding rings that disappeared at brides deaths.
Let me just say OMG! Ghosts. A sexy lawyer. Friendship. Sex. A big cliffhanger. The only thing that bugged me was the dialogue running together. I couldn't tell who was talking. Hopefully it'll be fixed before it's published. Such a good story though. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I can't wait for the next one.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed for Netgalley *

OMG! I’m not even sure what I want to say but this surpassed my expectations. I enjoy reading most everything that Ms Roberts/Ms Robb writes but this was beyond enjoyable. It has everything from romance, betrayal, great primary and secondary characters with a touch of spookiness thrown in. I so want to be friends with Sonya and Cleo! And, don’t even get me started about the ending! I’m not sure how I’ll be able to wait for the next one! This is one series that every Nora Robert’s fan should have on their TBR pile!

I was so happy to receive the ARC copy from Netgalley. Before my mom's passing, she had loved Nora Roberts' books and had a nice collection of them (I don't know what happened to them since) and I had always promised myself that I would pick one up.
This book follows Sonya MacTavish who is about to marry. Unfortunately, she finds her bridegroom in bed with her own cousin. Rather than through a fit or crying like any other heartbroken bride, she decides to continue her work in digital, but her ex is making it impossible and possibly causing all sorts of damage to her car and her reputation within the company, Sonya decides to break away from the company and possibly start something on her own.
But one day a lawyer comes knocking telling her that her uncle has left her a beautiful estate up in Maine. An uncle that had been her father's twin. As Sonya starts to learn about her father and uncle's history, she sees that their connection had been strong and that the beautiful manor has its own secrets. Secrets of brides dying on their wedding day.
I think I just found my Book of the Month. This book was everything I loved - A gothic-style home, lost love, and a rich history within the house itself. I loved the connection that had with her Father and uncle. Connections that allowed both a glimpse into each other's lives and yet her father did not know. This is the type of book you enjoy especially on those rainy days, wintry cold nights, or the harvest of Hallow's Eve. The characters are well rounded and fleshed out allowing them to grow within this first novel.
I also loved the history of the brides. Each one gets their own timeline to tell a story of their deaths. I am not going to lie but I cried through them. I felt a connection to those brides - their horror, their sorrow, and the despair they felt knowing that they would never see their beloved no more. I loved how their history was woven so beautifully that it connected to the present day.
I am seriously looking forward to the release of this book in November. I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy.
*Disclaimer: Thank you to the author, her publishers, and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book. The opinions of this review are mine and mine alone.

Inheritance. Nora Roberts begins The Lost Brides trilogy with this volume and I hope she writes the next book quickly! The story centers around Sonya who inherits a very old huge gothic mansion from an uncle, her father’s twin, that none of her immediate family even knew existed. After moving in Sonya discovers she isn’t exactly alone in the huge house…and one of those spirits definitely wants her gone. Fans of the author know they will be reading a well plotted story with defined characters that draws the reader in and doesn’t let go until the last period. This book covers all the bases…romance, friendship, family, glimpses into the sad past, and some really spooky stuff. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend!!!!!

It is very rare that I don't love a Nora Roberts book. This is not one of those times. When I really like a book I drag my heels toward the end, to prolong my enjoyment. That's tough to do when the next book in the trilogy is not yet scheduled for release. Alas. Mystery, romance, a bit of Gothic magic rolled up in good dialog, which is essential for me, descriptions worth reading, which takes a practiced touch, and a deft writing style.

Man, oh man! I devoured Inheritance. I love everything about it - the haunted manor with its ghosts and evil witch, the storyline, the determined heroine, the quirky friend, and the love interest. The ending really freaked me out and it perfectly sets up the next book in the series. This may very well become Nora Roberts's best series yet. I already have a list going of who I can buy it for next Christmas!!!
