Thank you for the advanced copy! I love Roberts’ books and Inheritance was no different. There were a few times the dialogue sounded familiar but I really love the way she can build a found family and create relationships you want to root for. I can’t wait for the next installment.

Sonya is getting ready for her wedding day in Nora Roberts’ newest novel. She is a busy and successful art director in charge of accounts at an advertising agency, and loves her job. Her fiancé, who also works there, has got her busy with wedding preparations. It's getting to be a far more lavish affair than Sonya would like, but she's going along with it all, even the expenses that seem to be adding up for her rather than for them.

Until she skips one pre-wedding appointment and goes home. Her fiancé and her cousin are in bed. She kicks them out, cancels the wedding and calls on her best friend to help take care of letting invitees know and getting some of her deposits back.

The former couple still work at the same agency, but Sonya is honest with their bosses and only asks to not have to work with him. But he spreads rumors about her, some of her work is destroyed and her car vandalized late at night when she stays late to recover the damage. There is no proof, but she knows it's him. And so she leaves, on good terms with her bosses, to freelance.

As Sonya picks up the pieces, she gets life-changing news. Her late father had a twin that her family never knew about. A twin who was incredibly rich and left her a mansion up on a New England coast. All she has to do is live there for three years, and everything is hers. Including funding to live there and keep the mansion in good condition.

Her mother is as shocked as she is, but backs Sonya's decision to give it a try. After all, the attorney who came to Boston to tell her the news was lifelong friends with her late uncle. He not only seems nice, but her mother's boss, a well-regarded attorney, approves of the man's bona fides. Everything seems on the up and up.

In the present, everything is just as it appears. The attorney's son, Trey (the third of his name), is helpful and attractive. Sonya's new family is welcoming, including her cousin, Owen. Her freelance business is taking off. Her best friend, Cleo, moves in to the manor so both women can pursue their artistic dreams.

But the manor has more inhabitants. Music plays at 3 a.m. Cupboards are opened in the kitchen. Paintings appear that weren't there before. Certain rooms are very cold. And sometimes, it sounds like someone is outside in a storm crying for help.

Because of interludes, the reader knows several brides in Sonya's family were murdered on their wedding day. The killer is the same woman, who takes the wedding rings of the fingers of seven brides she has slain. Whether it's because she hasn't had a new victim in years, or because of the warmth Sonya is bringing into the house, her activity is increasing.

Nora Roberts has introduced kind characters in this opening book to the Lost Brides trilogy, in addition to an intriguing mystery within the paranormal parameters and sweet love stories. The book ends with a new chapter to the ongoing mystery. It's easy to see how the trilogy will expand with what happens at the end of Inheritance. The second book will be eagerly anticipated by Roberts fans new and longtime.

I don't know how Nora keeps coming up with new stories, but she never disappoints. This 1st book in her new trilogy has a secret twin, an old curse, a haunted mansion, and of course a love story. The book ends on a cliffhanger that will leave you waiting anxiously for the next book in the series.

Inheritance is classic Nora Robert’s book.- mystery, a haunted house, romance and fantastic character building.
I enjoyed it and would recommend it. I wasn’t prepared for the cliffhanger though.

Wow! Just wow! Nora Roberts has definitely done it again.

I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn’t put it down.

You’ve got romance, a haunted house, ghosts, a witch, and a curse! What more could you want?!?

5/5 stars and will be buying a physical copy for my shelf.

Really enjoyed this story. Inherited a house is not for the weak at heart. We never know what kind of history a place has. Sonya’s life is falling apart anyway. Sonya just learned her dad had twin he never knew about much less her. An offer arises for her to move there on a time line and Sonya decides why not? Her life changes for the better once she encounters all her past relatives.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I have been a fan of Nora Roberts for a long time. There are not many that I have not enjoyed. I know her writing and knew since it is the first book in a trilogy that it would end on a cliffhanger. There is a ghostly elegance to the way this book is written. It is kind of sad start to a romance where she discovers the person she thought she would be spending the rest of her life is cheating on her with her very own cousin. So she has to rethink of what she is going to do going forward. I am looking forward to see what coming in the next book.

I have been a fan of Nora Roberts for years. She is at the top of her game when she writes about relationships. Inheritance is all about that. It is the story of Sonya, a young woman who at the book's beginning experiences the ultimate betrayal by her fiance. However, that is soon followed by a revelation, that she is the heir to a manor in Maine, one that holds a multitude of generational secrets as well as wealth. Having left a job she loves to freelance on her own as a creator of websites, images, and other ways of marketing she travels to the Maine coast where she finds her destiny. Her best friend joins her, and other characters, including her mother, are involved in her new life that begins to be professionally and personally fulfilling. Ms. Roberts weaves a story around a beautiful old mansion, antique furniture, the cold winter coast of Maine, and a plethora of nonhuman, as well as not-in-this-world characters. I enjoyed it until the abrupt end when I realized it was the first in the series. It will be followed by more adventures from this fun heroine. and I will have to wait to find out the full mystery of the manor that has been the demise of so many brides. It's been so long since I enjoyed the sheer magnificence of a Nora Roberts trilogy. This is everything you could ask for in one of her trilogies. There's a little romance, some suspense, a mystery, and even some paranormal going on. I couldn't ask for more. The descriptions of the places and characters are so good that you feel like you are actually there. I'm dying to read the next one now!

The story was intriguing in a creepy, ghost type way.
The story is full of surprises!
I am looking forward to the next 2 books in the series to see where the author is taking us.

I loved this book! There’s some freaky ghost stuff that goes on but since Sonya isn’t spooked enough to run for the hills, neither was I. And since this is the first book in a trilogy, this one covered a lot of background stuff with an ending that leaves you dying to find out what happens next.

I loved the characters so much and how fearless Sonya was. Only thing I don’t feel was the chemistry between her and Trent….i needed a bit more🤭 Okay now this book had a twist of romance, mystery, and paranormal activity which I was all for🙌🏻 This was a great page turner that led me to a bang on the wall with that ending cliffhanger 🤯

This first in this new trilogy was so so good. I did not want to put it down. I loved the story of the Lost Brides. Im always in for a haunted house story. Sonya inherits a house but she has inherited more than that. She has inherited an old curse too. She has to solve the puzzle to break the curse. I cannot wait to see what happens next. Not all the ghosts are friendly, and Sonya finds herself in the middle of unraveling a family curse.
INHERITANCE introduces Sonya and Trent, a handful of interesting ghosts, Sonya’s BFF Cleo, and a bunch of interesting secondary characters and weaves a story that grabbed me from page one and left me spinning with the unexpected cliffhanger.

was utterly spellbound!! Roberts checked all the boxes: a multi-generational tragedy in a haunted mansion, a supernatural mystery, and well-paced, clever writing; the atmosphere pulled me right in from the start; I felt like I was right there with the main characters in Lost Bride Manor. I could see the characters in my mind's eye; Roberts created well-drawn characters, and I enjoyed the sisterhood bond between Sonya and Cleo. It was refreshing to see two creative, independent, strong women I wanted to be their friend. That’s how to write a cliffhanger! I can’t wait to see what awaits Sonya and Owen on the other side. I paired the book with the audiobook, narrated by Brittney Pressley, who did a fabulous job describing and bringing the characters to life, building the tension and suspense and making it palpable at times. I got chills down my spine.. I can’t wait to read the next instalment in the series.

Also, in the audiobook, Nora Roberts explains her experience with spirits and talks of her grandmother and what inspired her to write Inheritance: The Lost Bride Trilogy.

This is quintessential Roberts! I can't wait to get my hands on the next installment. The premise is unique, and the characters are easy to root for and realistic. The pacing is perfect. The book is over 400 pages, but it flew by. There's a bit of something for everyone, with gothic mystery, ghosts, humor, tears, and just a touch of romance. Strong female characters abound. The ending? What a cliffhanger! Excellent start to the trilogy!

This was the perfect Nora Roberts romantic suspense with a little sprinkle of ghostly humor and attitude. I'm not a big fan of the dual timeline but this one was done so well. I loved learning the history of the manor and having that bit sprinkled throughout the book. Poole's Bay and the relationships we built were absolutely perfect. I love Trey and Owen and Cleo and Sonya's relationship was one of my favorites. I absolutely can't wait to see if a relationship grows between Cleo and Owen. THE CLIFFHANGER! Can we get another book now?!?
