Winter Whimsy on the Boardwalk was a simple holiday read, even though it was not actually centered around the holidays. The greatest disappointment was the MC's relationship with her father. He does something unethical, but quickly forgives him because he's such a gullible fellow. No thanks.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review.
So poorly written with such flat undeveloped characters that it was a struggle to finish. I don’t recommend purchasing this book- save your money and your time
What a wonderful treat Winter Whimsy is. I felt like I was with Lexie and her friends and the mysterious, brooding Oliver Whimsy in their idyllic boardwalk seafront homes. I love the fact that I'll be able to visit some of the other characters in the series in the other books. The unique Jersey setting helps make this story stand out from many others and I couldn't wait to see how things would work out for Lexie. You won't be disappointed!
Winter Whimsy is like a warm, cosy blanket being wrapped around you as you read. A wonderful feel good contemporary romance with a solid emotional story running through it when Lexie falls out with her father and his new girlfriend. You'll love the relationships between all the friends, and wish that you could take a vacation and stay at the Boardwalk in Jersey yourself. A definite 5 stars from me. Thank you to the author and publisher for the review copy.
I love these books set in Jersey . Can read alone but this time we followed Lexi’s story . It was lovely but her father was a piece of work. I won’t spoil. The love story was a lovely slow burn. I loved the island descriptions. The friendship element is great. A fab read. Roll on the next one
Lexi's father sells the cottages she rents out, the new owner hires her to be a typist. a little bit of romance and a little bit of mystery.
Winter Whimsy on the Boardwalk is an enjoyable winter easy romance. It sits nicely amongst the other two books in the series so far. I feel that it does work as a stand along story but would feel more complete having read the other books to fully understand the relationships between the different characters. The story captures the interest from early on with Lexi finding out that her Dad has sold her Mum’s holiday cottages leaving her homeless and without a job. I like the way Georgina Troy creates a cast of believable characters where there are dramas but nothing too extreme,
Having read the other two books in this series I was excited to recieve this. Meet Lexi a girl who has just been betrayed by her own father. When one of the people she meant to trust more than anything in the world sells her beloved cottages, her only source of income, she is beyond devastated.
However, as they say, behind every closing door is a new ray of sun. Maybe not what Lexi thinks when it comes to Oliver Whimsy, (see how the title of the book is tied in), she has little choice. Soon she has a mission to find out why Oliver was so desperately wanted those cottages.
Another cosy read from Georgina Troy.
While the cover conveys the idea that this is a Christmas story, it was disappointing that the holiday plays a very minor role in the novel.
The setting is Jersey, one of the Channel Islands near the coast of France, in the bitter cold of winter. A native to the island, Lexie Davies manages three small cottages that are the legacy of her beloved grandmother and mother. When she discovers that her father has sold the properties without her knowledge, she is thrown off course. Not only has she lost her source of income, but also her home. With the support of her friends and Oliver Whimsy, the handsome new owner of the cottages, she creates a modicum of stability as she determines her future, which includes confronting her father’s duplicity.
This is the third installment in The Boardwalk by the Sea series with the promise of a fourth to follow. I have not read the first two books and felt I was missing significant context and content in this story; it does not do well as a stand-alone novel. This was a “okay” read, but it did not hold my interest for the following reasons: the pacing is slow; there is much repetition; the characters were not engaging; the resolution of the conflict with Gloria, Alexie’s father’s girlfriend, was unrealistic; and the romantic outcome was predictable.
My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A delightful cozy mystery wrapped in the Christmas season.
Having lost her mother recently, Lexi continues to run the three seasonal cottages that her mother left her and that serve as her only source of income.
Then her father sells the cottages out from under her and the new owner hires Lexi to be his typist and stay in a cottage.
A bit of a mystery with a dash of romance serve up a lovely winter stew
