I don’t read many books with modern day time settings but all of Katie’s books suck me in and make for super quick reads! I love how she weaves faith into her books effortlessly without it being overly cheesy too.
Definitely recommend for the clean romance and a feel good ending.

Trigger warnings: domestic abuse, abortion, violence

Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced reader copy!

I loved this story so much! Its easier to see our mistakes when we look back through the lens of time. Wilma has spent years regretting a choice she made when she was a mother, one that has affected her family. When she feels like she has the opportunity to make some amends, will it be enough?
This story is so good!

THE WIND BLOWS IN SLEEPING GRASS by KATIE POWNER is a delightful read with humour and depth as the author beautifully describes the life and emotions of fifty year old Pete Ryman, who lives quietly in Sleeping Grass,Montana with his pot bellied pig, Pearl, and his friend Windy Ray, whose deep faith in the Creater and his words of biblical wisdom are brought out at just the right time. The characters, both human and animal, in this poignant story, will live on in your heart….
Pete has a very low self image due to ongoing rejection and being told that he will never make anything of his life. In fact he has noticed that “In his experience, people’s interest in him never lasted long.” His rage against life’s unfairness has not made things easy in the past.
Working as a garbage man, cleaning up other people’s messes, he finds all kinds of treasure in what people throw away. As Windy Ray says “everything the Creator mekes has value, but a man must choose whether he wants to see it.”
As Pete’s world becomes enlarged with new people coming into his life, there is not only a great deal to forgive, but there are more people to love……….
I am not going to spoil the read for you by telling you any more.
I cannot recommend The Wind Blows in Sleeing Grass highly enough.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Bethany House Publishers. The opinions in this review are completely my own.

Quirky characters and real life drama are hallmarks of this story. The book has a slow, relaxed pace that may dissuade some readers. However, if you keep reading you’ll discover characters that are endearingly flawed trying to make things right in their life. I’m hoping for another installment of the residents of Sleeping Grass.

Memorable characters highlight this story of a man coming to terms with his past, and an older woman he meets who has a secret connection to his past.

A very good book! In my opinion the best from this author yet!
I think my favorite was Pearl the Pig.
She made me giggle at time.
Then another favorite was Windy Ray.
He was a totally fun person to know with his quiet and knowing ways. I got rather attached pretty quickly He also made me laugh at times.
Because of his wisdom and friendship to Pete I appreciated him that much more.
I think that my heart went out to Pete and Lily the most. Pete because he had no control over his life's circumstances until a time when he absolutely had to. Sometimes I just shook my head at him and others.....??? Well let's just say I found myself rooting for him. Through Christ I can do All Things!
I couldn't put this book down. In many places I felt like I was on a rollercoaster ride with emotions and others I felt raw over three characters.
Wilma especially. I felt like she was my own grandmother.
I didn't want to let this story go. This is one of those things that won't let u go until this story is finished.
I love when books do that to me.
Powner has that special power to do that to me. My whole Sunday evening gone without me even realizing it.
I also loved the small town feel as I'm from one myself.
The Hope, the Love and most of all forgiveness in more ways than one!
It's what community is all about. I especially loved the friendships.
Even if it's just for yourself to give u a peace of mind.
I loved this book in more ways than one.
This is my favorite quote that made me cry and when you read this passage you'll see why and it will definitely leave you thinking about it long afterwards
Wilma pondered this. “All the rocks in your house are for remembering?”“Yes. Some to remember hard things, some to remember good things. And now I’ve become quite fond of rocks.
They are pieces of the earth, which the Creator holds in His hands, and they are also memories.” She pictured the rocks Raymond had given her. “Whenever I see your rocks on my windowsill, I think of you.”“Yes.” He bobbed his head. “I don’t want you to forget about me.”
Windy Ray told Pete once that the only thing a person can find that will make them stop searching is peace with the Creator. “When you have that,” his friend had said, “it’s enough. But without it, nothing is ever enough.”
Amen and I'll leave y'all to think this over as you're reading this powerful wonderful and emotional story.
5 stars for an excellent and well written story that I very much enjoyed.
I highly recommend!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
