Another classic KL Slater book with plenty of gasp out loud moments. Plenty to keep you guessing and plenty to keep the readers engaged.
Spoilers ahead!
The Bedroom Window was my first foray into KL Slater, despite having 3 or 4 of her books on my TBR pile (which is honestly 2 bookcases, but let's not get into that).
The book introduces us to Lottie, who's husband Neil just landed his dream job as a landscape manager for a large estate, the Seaspray House. Seaspray is owned by Neeta and Ted Williams, who are very affluent and aren't afraid to show their wealth. They take an interest in Neil and Lottie's son, Albie, as they don't have any children of their own.
Or, so we all think.
The Bedroom Window is told 75% from Lottie's point of view, the other times it's a flashback or from Neil's view. I felt that I figured out most of the "gotcha" twists with Lottie, however I didn't see the end coming. I was more interested in Lottie's new friend, Keris, than I was with Lottie herself. I felt that a lot of plot points just didn't amount to really anything. There was definitely something up with Neil and Neeta, but that was never really addressed and we're left to assume. Albie seemed to just have been forgotten and I felt he could have been instrumental for either Lottie or Neeta.
I give this one a 3⭐, but I definitely think I'll revisit KL Slater and her other books.
Thank you always to NetGalley, bookouture, and KL Slater for an ARC copy in exchange for a review!
K.L. Slater never disappoints
The Bedroom Window by K.L. Slater is a riveting and suspenseful novel.
The book is also full of twists and turns that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. The suspense and tension are expertly crafted, and the pacing is just right to keep the reader engaged and invested in the story.
With its well-drawn characters, deft exploration of power dynamics, and expertly crafted suspense, it is a book that will keep readers guessing until the very end. Highly recommended.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."

Thank you netgalley and the publishers for the arc copy . i gave it 3.7 stars i thought the first half of the book was pretty slow not too much happened it was hard for me to keep reading but after the half way mark stuff took off more . i enjoyed the shorter chapters overall this book was ok nothing special it jist didnt peak my interest like other thriller's
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the advance copy to read.
I've read a couple of Kat Slaters books before and always enjoyed them.
I found the story a little slow in places but as the story builds it made me want to keep reading to find out the truth. It's a decent psychological thriller.
Neil really annoyed me for being so weak and not standing by his wife. I also don't really understand why Neeta kept coming on to him or how this played in to the story. It seemed a bit bizarre as to what happened between her and Neil in the house.
Overall a good, easy read.
3.75 stars.
3.5 stars. While this was a very very slow burn it was an interesting thriller and I needed to know what happened.
Neil drove me nuts with how weak he was, or lying to his wife constantly. Yes she isn't perfect but she has been through a lot of childhood trauma that clearly she didn't really get the help she needed.
Some twists and turns. Definitely check it out if you like small town thrillers
I always enjoy a KL Slaters novels, and this one was no exception. Definitely a surprise in the end, as it was not really what I was expecting at all. I liked all the different directions the author takes you in, while threading your lives into the ones in the book.
This is the second book I’ve read by this author and I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the writing style. This book seems to be very slow moving with mostly filler for story before finally getting anywhere. Very little story development and minimal character development. There were also inconsistencies that need to be edited before final publication. For example, in one chapter Neil comes home from work and takes a shower while Lottie makes tea. Neil comes down to eat. After he’s finished he says he’s going to check on Albie then take a shower.
I just felt like this book was very slow to get anywhere. When it finally did, it was a good read. Exciting twists and I liked the ending.thank you to the author, Bookoutoure, and NetGalley for the advance reader copy. I am leaving my honest review. 3.5⭐️, rounded up to 4.
I love K.L Slater’s books, and reading the bedroom window has reminded me of why I love them so much and why I need to start reading some more of them.
Lottie, Neil and their son Albie have recently moved and Neil is about to start his new job after suffering an injury from his previous job where he was told it was possible that he may never walk again, Lottie became his full time carer, and now they are all looking forward to a fresh start.
Soon Lottie starts to doubt their new neighbours Ted and Neeta, there is something not quite right of them that she cannot put her finger on. Neeta and Ted have no children of their own and Lottie fears that they maybe trying to take her family away from her. Lottie takes matters into her own hands and starts watching Neeta and Ted from the window of their spare bedroom.
Neeta and Ted say they are the only ones living in their house. They have no children so why is it that Lottie has seen a third person in their house, she has seen their shadow, but Neil doesn’t believe her. Despite this Lottie knows there is more to Neeta and Ted than what first meets the eye and she will not let this one go.
I absolutely loved the bedroom window, I had a couple of theories as to what may be going on and what secrets Neeta and Ted but nothing in my wildest dreams would have led me to this scenario. It was a fast paced, twisty and entertaining read which constantly had me on the edge of my seat making me want to pick up my kindle at every available opportunity.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an open and honest review.
This is an interesting read, quite twisty but some of the twists are a bit far fetched. The husband and wife at the centre of the story kind of annoyed me because they kept lying to each other but then, everyone else is lying too so its hard to know if there is anyone trustworthy at all!! Overall, its an ok read. grand for a rainy day when you want to curl up with a book to get stuck into.
I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Bedroom Window’ written by K L Slater in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Lottie has had a difficult couple of years caring for her husband Neil who suffered a serious injury at work while looking after their nine-year-old son Albie. Now well enough to work again, Neil is thrilled when Neeta and Ted Williams offer him the position of Estate Manager at Seaspray House with the use of the cottage that’s situated in the grounds. Lottie has concerns about Neeta and Ted feeling that something strange is happening at Seaspray House and is determined to find out who the person is whose shadow she can see from a bedroom window when there’s nobody at home.
‘The Bedroom Window’ is a compelling psychological thriller with a strong plot and an abundance of suspense and intrigue. The characters living in Seaspray House are creepy as is the whole set-up, with the secrets they’re all keeping becoming clearer as the story progresses. I thought the ending was a little bit rushed but this is nevertheless another great story by one of my favourite authors who manages to weave the unexplainable into each story and never fails to disappoint. This story is easy to read and impossible to put down and I can recommend it.
The Bedroom Window by K.L. Slater
Neil has found his dream job; the new head gardener to Ted and Neeta Williams’ at their sea side Seaspray Estate in North Yorkshire. The job comes with a furnished cottage for Neil, his wife Lottie and their nine-year-old son Albie, to live in.
At first everything is wonderful; Neil loves his job; Albie happily settles into his new school and makes friends and even Lottie finds a job. But then Lottie starts seeing strange things at the Seaspray Estate, there seems to be a shadow in the window of a third person living there, and no one is ever allowed inside the grand establishment. Then Lottie hears someone singing a children’s song when Ted and Neeta are not home. What could be going on?
I loved everything about this book, the characters, the fast-paced storyline and so many twists you feel dizzy.
I would like to thank Net Galley and Bookouture for a copy of this eBook in exchange for an honest review
Lottie, Neil and their 9 year old son need to get away from their old life. Lottie was Neil’s carer for some time and now he is better, they want a fresh start.
When Neil gets a job by the sea, they move into a little cottage in the grounds of the main house, owned by Ted & Neeta.
Lottie has a window where she can see into some of the rooms in the main house, she’s sure Ted and Neeta are hiding things from them. Why are they never invited inside the main house?
What a wonderful story. The author has done it again, you think you’ve understood what’s gone on and feel really proud of yourself, to realise a little later that no, you don’t have a clue!
A book that had me hooked from the prologue and made my blood pressure shoot up! The author writes fantastic psychological thrillers that have many red herrings along the way.
A story with so many lies and secrets and an ending that you really won’t be expecting.
My thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
Lottie’s family has found a new home, job, and neighbors in a new town. The new neighbors are kind and they say they have no kids. But Lottie sees a small shadow in their bedroom window.
Lottie’s son Albie gets increasingly attached to the new neighbors when they offer to build him a tree house of his own. Lottie feels fortunate for the opportunity to start over but frankly, the neighbors feel strange. For starters, they have not allowed anyone into their house and open the door only a crack to visitors. Also, there are signs that all is not well with the couple. And Lottie cannot forget the shadowy figure she glimpses once in a while in the house.
Lottie cannot decide if she can trust her neighbors to take care of her beautiful boy.
I picked this book for the author and it is my favorite genre. I haven’t read a K L Slater and so decided to make a start with this book. The synopsis sounded very intriguing.
It was a letdown. The plot was well-paced but the events in the narrative felt repetitive, the story just dragged on and the characters were very much unlikeable.
Some things that left me wondering - A person who bullied another child when she was 12/13 years of age is now worried about her child getting bullied.
Also did not understand how a 12/13-year-old could not remember anything good about her mother except the fact that she left her? Also, Lottie’s husband’s accident left him paralyzed, I was surprised to know that Lottie did not know the details of this accident but other strangers easily found it out.
I think the plot overall was quite unbelievable but the few twists in the story kept me going.
Overall I think you can give this novel a miss. Nothing overly unique or eye-catching about the story (except the cover).
This book did not work for me. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC.
K.L. Slater has been my go to whenever I need a twisty, jaw dropping shocker of a story. She has done it again with The Bedroom Window.
I can never see the twists coming and they are always so good. Definitely flew through this one. Had to know the ending!!
Thank you for the ARC!
I want to start off by thanking NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC from K. L. Slater. I enjoyed this book! I enjoyed the plot and characters and thought it had a good amount of twists. I thought the ending was an appropriate wrap up and even remember exclaiming "yes!" when justice was served. Switching narrators and jumping from the present to the past can be a bit confusing but I found myself able to reorient myself as needed.
This was a good book. I kinda felt like this was going to be a ghost story situation. But I was way wrong on that. It had some slow parts but once the story starts to unfold and you’re closer to learning the truth about who may be lurking at the beautiful house, well let me just say you’re wrong! It’s definitely a twist! The ending wrapped up nice and I enjoyed the closure. Thank you to net galley for allowing me access to this book!
WOW WOW WOW
This is my favourite book by this author so far, it's outstanding!!! I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough to find out what happens next. Huge 5 stars.
The Bedroom Window told the story of a family who were down on their luck getting a fresh start in a new town. Neil gets a job as caretaker for an estate on the coast and it’s a job he loves from the beginning. His wife ,Lottie, gets a weird feeling from the beginning and thinks the couple is hiding something and someone in their mansion. This book is a definite page turner that kept me guessing until the very end.
Not really sure what I thought of this book to be honest. I normally love KL Slater's writing but something about this one left me feeling "meh". Maybe it was a little laxity in character development or what but I was left not feeling anything for any of them and that is unusual for me. Now I will say that the story line stayed true to Slater's previous writing style and I did like it over all. A little more time on the characters in general would make a difference.
