Huge fan of K.L Slater and this one is a must read. Intriguing, mysterious that really grabs you. So much suspense and mystery that I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Likeable characters but some you’re just not sure about. Really well developed plot along with characters that have their own backstories and secrets. This is a definite must read.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'The Bedroom Window' by K.L Slater.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for K.L Slater, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous
Publication date 16th May 2023.
This is the sixth book I have read by this author. I have previously read 'The Girl She Wanted', 'The Widow', 'Missing', 'The Marriage' and 'The Narrator' which I highly recommend.
I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that 'this book is 'An utterly gripping psychological thriller from the number one bestselling author of The Marriage and The Girlfriend. If you like Gone Girl, The Housemaid and Lisa Jewell then you will be hooked by The Bedroom Window.
' I am a huge fan of Gone Girl and The Houemaid which are amazing books and Lisa Jewell who is an extremely talented author so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of K. L Slater and if this is half as good as 'The Marriage', 'Missing', 'The Widow', 'The Narrator 'and 'The Girl She Wanted' it is sure to be a page turning read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).
This novel consists of a prologue, 57 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is set in England 🏴 UK. I always seem to get on with books that are set in the UK better as I am from Wales and have sometimes visited places mentioned in the book. I have actually spent many holidays and days out in England so am looking forward to seeing if I recognise anywhere.
This book is written in a mix of third and first person perspective and the protagonists are Lottie, Neil, Charlie,. The benefits of books written in first person perspective are as long as they are well written it makes you feel that you are being spoken to by the protagonist and it can create more of a bond between yourselves and them. If there are several protagonists you also get to see more of what is going on. The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything. To have the benefit of both first and third person perspective ensures you don't miss out on anything.
OMG!!!! WHAT DID I JUST READ!!!! I DID NOT EXPECT THAT!!! MIND BLOWN MUCH!!!
Wow!!! This book is fantastically written and had me hook, line and sinker from beginning to end. The descriptions were so in depth and vivid that the hair on my arms was standing on the ends and my heart was pounding throughout. The synopsis, title and cover were perfect for the storyline.
I was absolutely absorbed throughout this page turner. It is filled with tension, suspense, lies, secrets and omg the twists!!! I DID NOT see any of them coming!!! A MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS K.L Slater!! It is getting harder and harder to shock me but by God you did that over and over and over!!! What an ending!!! One of the most gripping unputdownable nerve wracking psychological thrillers I have EVER read!!! You lady have one hell of a talent and I cannot wait to get hold of your previous and future books. I cannot remember the last time I was so hooked by a book but you managed that big time!!! The storyline is filled with crime, shocks, secrets, ,twists, suspense, tension, deceit and revenge. There was not one, two but at least 3 explosive bombshells I did not see coming!!! There was so much going on and it was very fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Lottie, her husband Neil and their son Albie have relocated for Neils job and are looking forward to a new beginning. They move into the caretaker's cottage in the gorgeous Seaspray House where Neil has been hired as the lead landscaper. The location is perfect, Albie starts his new school and the owners of Seaspray House Ted and Neeta are kind and welcoming. However, when Lottie is being nosy one day and checking out the big house she sees some strange things that don't make sense and she starts questioning whether Ted and Neeta are the people they are making out. Is she right to be suspicious or is Lottie losing her mind?? You will just have to grab your copy today to find out won't you?! Yet again KL Slater has created an unpredictable and unputdownable, gritty, suspense and tension filled explosive page turner that will have you addicted from the first page to the last!! Her fantastic evocative writing skills brings the storyline and characters to life in front of your eyes and will keep you glued to the pages!
Clear your schedule before you start as I read this in one sitting as I could not put it down!! Practically every chapter ended on a cliff hanger so no way could I put it down!! Absolutely hooked!! I would absolutely love to see this turned into a movie!!!!
It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.
I was completely invested in both the storyline and the characters. Each of the characters had their own unique personalities and I felt differently about each of them. As always K.L Slater has managed to create several realistic, flawed, unlikeable and questionable characters that she brings to life with her creative and evocative writing skills and puts them into what should be an everyday storyline but makes the reader question everything and everyone they are seeing, reading and meeting throughout!! Lottie is an inquisitive woman who has had previous anger issues leaving her with a standoffish personality and this woman has obviously never heard the saying 'curiosity killed the cat'! There is something about Neeta and Ted that I couldn't quite but my finger on and Lottie's inquisitive nature added to this strangeness about them. This is definitely one of those books that I worry I will give too much away by saying how I feel about them having read the book. Therefore, I am not going to say anything else about any of the characters as it isn't worth the risk of dropping any hints but there was definitely mixed feelings with some of them and some major shocks to be had!! If you want to know more you will just have to click the link below to get a copy!! All in all a great mix of characters that worked well with this storyline and regardless of whether you love them or hate them they all played their parts perfectly along with KL Slaters fantastic writing skills making each of them jump out of the pages coming to life in front of your eyes.
This is exactly why you are in my top author Club K.L Slater and your book is one of the best psychological thrillers I have EVER READ!! Bring on the next one!!! I cannot wait!!! Here's to the next success 🥂
Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the prologue and the first three chapters of KL Slater's absolutely addictive 'The Marriage' which is another explosive page turner and one I have read myself and would highly recommend!!
Overall an absolutely heart racing, never wracking, unputdownable addictive psychological thriller!!!
Genres covered in this novel include Murder Thriller, Mystery, Crime Thriller, Crime, Thriller, Suspense, Psychological Thriller, and Psychological Fiction amongst others.
I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of 'Gone Girl' , 'The Girl on The Train', 'The Wife Between Us', Liane Moriarty, 'Our House' , 'The Woman in the Window', 'The Housemaid', Lisa Jewell and anyone looking for an explosive thriller filled with bombshells you won't see coming!!
330 pages.
This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle, free with kindle unlimited and £8.99 in paperback (at time of review) via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Unfortunately this book just wasn't for me. The characters were incredibly irritating, especially Lottie. I just found the whole thing dragged too much and was very repetitive.
I am a big fan of KL Slater and was looking forward to this one, This book was good but I felt the plot was a little hard to believe and the ending of the book was a bit too far fetched for me. I enjoyed the book overall but felt the ending of the book let it down
Neil, Lottie and their son Albie have just moved into the area for Neil’s new job. But Neil's new employers are not what they seem, secrets are being kept and clues will be found.
This was a great novel full of tension and suspense, and one I could not put down.
Slater tells this narrative from a past and present timeline which gives a larger range for the narrative to build and I couldn’t wait to read the next chapter to find out what happens next.
A great read and I will be picking up this author again.
Starting over in a new place and home is never an easy task. So much to keep you occupied, unpacking and meeting the neighbors. She's such a busy mom but when her son tells her about the wonderful neighbors he's met, especially the woman, she's thrilled. She's like a second mom to him, treating him kindly, talking to him and thy even bake cookies together. Who wouldn't want neighbors like that? They say, "If it seems to good to be true, it probably is." And in this case, it's true. This psychological thriller, had me thinking along the lines of all is well and harmonious but in the back of your mind you're waiting for the other shoe to drop, then it does. My thinking immediately went off kilter and to a whole new way of thinking as I was on high alert and just had to see how it would play out. Once I started reading The Bedroom Window, I didn't want to stop. The author brilliantly grabs your thought process and you're thinking one way and then immediately need to shift gears into high alert. Th book took me on a roller coaster ride, and I loved the thrill of it!

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.
Lottie and hubby Neil have recently moved into their new home, their neighbours Ted and Neeta his new employers.
Neeta tells Lottie she's unable to have children, so why does Lottie see toys strewn in their hallway and why are they so enamoured with her son Albie?
Slater does it again with a fantastic twisty thriller packed full of suspense, drama and unease.
The story moves at a moderate pace and is told from past and present perspective, both of which come together seamlessly for the BIG reveal at the end.
I loved the book, I found it to be an engrossing, page turner, which I couldn't put down.
Many thanks to Bookouture for my tour spot.

Special thanks to Bookouture for the review copy! Kim is a master at suspense and that was evident in this story. I enjoyed it immensely!
Ted and Neeta reside in a massive mansion at Seaspray but, they never let anyone into their house. Newly employed by them, Neil and his wife wonder why. His wife Lottie is finding the whole thing to be rather weird. Neil has a great opportunity here but, the oddness overwhelms her. This couple is enamored by their son Albie and wants nothing more than to spoil him. Soo..what are they hiding and does the past always catch up with you?
This story started off sort of slow but, the build was good. The little hints that are dropped leave your imagination to wonder what is going on and in time you find out. I liked this read and definitely recommend it. Good plot, good characters and outstanding finish! Four stars!
“…you’re never quite sure what people get up to behind closed doors.”
I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there is something about KL Slater’s writing that makes me want to fly through it. It’s captivating even when the scenes are mundane. There is never a lull in enjoyment with her books - which is truly my favorite part about them! I’ve read about 4 of her books now and currently The Narrator is my favorite by her, but this one did not disappoint!!
As this book unfolded, it was a slower burn, but with an overarching ominous tone. You know that almost all the key figures have secrets and that alone keeps you on edge to find out. The setting is well described and I could picture it vividly. Sometimes I feel like authors are overly descriptive or not quite enough. She has the perfect blend and allows you to imagine you are at the center of her novels. Some things I suspected would unfold and others I was thoroughly surprised by. If you like a bingeable mystery- then you will absolutely enjoy this book.
Per usual - KL Slater never ceases to incorporate phrases I’m not used to or have never heard of before. My favorite in this book was “quick recce”.

Thank you to @netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC. Neil and Lottie have the amazing opportunity to move to a cottage near the SeaScape estate so he can manage the grounds. All seems perfect until Lottie sees some strange things from the guest room window that overlooks the estate. When she questions them, her husband blows her off but she know what she saw. Slater kept me guessing! Good read! #TheBedroomWindow #KLSlater #May2023
Wow is the first thing that springs to mind. A story that starts off as a couple moving to a new area because of a new job but then turns into suspicion and suspense. It has you wondering who had dine wrong as they all have their own secrets but then the twist is revealed and I was so wrong on my though process.
Absolutely loved it
The Bedroom Window is the 19th book I’ve read by this author and it’s another top class read. Right from the prologue I just knew I was going to be firmly glued to this book. What a fabulous read it was, full of tension and suspense. It was honestly impossible to put down, when you reach the end of a chapter you will just want to carry on reading. A gripping read that will honestly have you on the edge of your seat at times .
This book came out today so a review now is a must of course! It's The Bedroom Window by K.L. Slater. I received it from Bookouture via Netgalley.
We follow Neil and Lottie who, together with their son Albie, move to a coastal village for a new job opportunity for Neil. After a few difficult years for all of them, this seems like the perfect chance to get back on their feet again. However, both parents seem to have secrets which somehow are known by the new employees of Neil. But that's not the only strange thing that happens...
This was quite the ride. A slow start but once you're into it, you can't put it down. You just need to keep on going to find out what's really going on. The characters are great with all their flaws and traits, just like real people.
The story is a great one. Some twists are easier to spot, but some I did not see coming and I really like that! Absolutely loved the ending - perfect fit for the complete story.
5/5 ⭐
Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review!
Overall, I found it to be a good book deserving of a 4/5 rating. While the beginning started off a bit slow, once the story picked up momentum, it became truly gripping.
The author did a commendable job of building tension and keeping the reader hooked as the plot unfolded. The sense of suspense and anticipation was skillfully maintained, making it difficult to put the book down. It's evident that K.L. Slater has a talent for crafting compelling narratives.
However, there were a few elements that I felt were somewhat predictable. However, despite these minor predictabilities, "The Bedroom Window" successfully held my attention and provided an engaging reading experience. K.L. Slater's writing style is both fluid and descriptive, allowing the reader to vividly imagine the scenes and empathize with the characters.
The British queen of thrills, K. L Slater, returns, following The Narrator with her latest, THE BEDROOM WINDOW —the author pulls out all the stops with an enthralling psychological thriller where dual timelines collide in this explosive mystery surrounding a wealthy couple in a glass house. What secrets are they hiding?
Lottie, Neil, and their young son Albie are excited about their new home on Whitsend Bay with a stunning clifftop idyllic setting. It has been two years since Neil's serious accident at work changed their lives. Neil had to give up his landscaping business in Nottingham.
He almost lost the use of his legs and left arm. Lottie had given up her job to be his caretaker. Now Neil is back to normal and has accepted a job as an estate manager at the Seaspray Estate in North Yorkshire.
The owners, Netta and Ted Williams are very private. As part of the employment package, they have offered Lottie, Neil, and Albie a beautiful cottage adjacent to the Seaspray glass mansion and grounds.
They love their new home, and Neil loves his new job. However, shortly after moving in, Lottie thinks something is off with the Williams couple. They are wealthy, and Netta is beautiful, but strangely, they never get invited into their home. They always come outside, or the door is cracked.
The couple before them, Tom and Mary Gooding also left abruptly. Lottie also finds a note from this woman and a photo in the drawer.
Netta is also flirtatious with her husband, Neil. Lottie has a great point to spy on the mansion from her upper cottage bedroom with binoculars. She sees movement, she hears things, and something is not correct.
Lottie has had trust issues since her mother left her at age thirteen without explanation, and she wound up in the foster system.
She sees children's toys when they say they do not have any children, and she hears a lullaby.
Neil wants to keep his job and does not want to rock the boat. He is afraid of crossing the owners. This causes friction between him and his wife. Also, Netta buys their son expensive gifts, and Tom, the husband, is building a treehouse for Albie. She also wants him to stay with them, encouraging Lottie to get a job.
What is this couple up to, and what do they want from them? What is Neil hiding?
In the meantime, Lottie meets another mother she befriends with a classmate, Albie's age. (more here than meets the eye).
Twenty years earlier: We meet Claire and Charlie in another parallel storyline—two young girls. Claire is from a wealthy family, and Charlie is from a poor family raised by a single mother with a mean boyfriend.
The author keeps you glued to the pages as things at the Seaspray mansion become even more sinister. You are dying to discover what is happening inside the house, what they are hiding, and how the dual storyline/timeline connects with the present.
Told from POV: Lottie and Neil, with a chapter from Mary—dual timelines (present/past-20 years earlier with two girls, Charlie and Claire).
Twisty, atmospheric, mysterious, suspenseful, and captivating! Dark secrets, lies, and deception abound. Everyone has a secret, and the novel has an underlying tension and a dark sense of foreboding. I could not wait to find out how all would come out. I also loved the twist at the end.
The author is a pro at creating lush atmospheric settings, unreliable characters, and twisty plots. The novel was my favorite of hers since The Narrator. Even though it was a bit anticlimactic, if you can suspend your disbelief, you will find THE BEDROOM WINDOW highly entertaining.

May 2023 Must-Read Books
The QUEEN of TWISTS is back with another gripping read. This book is deliciously dark, creepy and what are Neeta and Ted hiding?. That's the question I was asking myself all the way through, until the jaw dropping ending. I wanted to jump into the pages and just hug little Albie, he's such an adorable little character. All the characters are amazing, the plot is mind blowing and the title is very fitting. I raced through it and stayed up until the early hours of the morning, I just had to know how it ended. Another BESTSELLER for the amazing K.L Slater. Loved it, Loved it, Loved it.
While I know this is a popular author, this happens to be my first book by this author and now I will be going back and reading all their books! Slater created such an eerie atmosphere full of intrigued. Everyone has a secret, whose secret is going to be revealed first is the question. The tension slowly builds until bam, twist one, and then bam, twist two, and bam, twist three! Slater created well developed characters with interesting back stories. I will say that Lottie got a little annoying with her repetitive talk about how her mother’s disappearance affected her, but it’s easy to dismiss when there is so much to love about this book. I never imagined the book was going to end the way that it did! That was such a shocker! Fans of Slater are going to love this one, and thriller fans will equally love this one. Get out and get this one now!
Yes look, it’s a 5* from me. I don’t give them often I know! But I loved everything about this book, including the name Albie!
There were so many ways this could go. I talked with my hubby telling him about it, his words were “if this were a film I’d watch it”. He’s right, I would too.
Hubby doesn’t read many books, he likes watching films so I know where he’s coming from.
I pictured the home on the cliff. I questioned the families decisions to move there.
However it was like the author lead me to different doors with keys to unlock for the next reveal. It was awesome (to me) really kept my attention.
So many questions buzzing through my head.
What really happened to the last people in that home.
The house which he was the caretaker for who worked outside.
Why were the couple in that HUGE house so helpful in wanting to look after and his wife’s son when she wanted to get a job.
Why wasn’t anyone allowed in their home.
Just who in the heck or what in the heck was the shadow in the window.
Was Neil as nice as he came across.
Was his wife sane?
Little Albie, he was having problems before they moved yet settled quickly.
Was Neil really telling the truth?
Just who were those strange odd folk
Really enjoyable read - I like this author anyway, but this was probably my favourite of theirs so far. I read it in a day. A good thriller, with mystery and a gorgeous setting. There's a few errors, like Charlie being referred to as Lottie once (i know they're the same person, but not sure she was meant to be referred to as Lottie in this past?), and Neil is called Ted at one point. I didnt' love the reveal of Niel's opioid addiction - having lived through this it felt a bit glossed over that he'd been so addicted it ruined their life, and then "recovered" with no apparent difficulty. Wasn't enough for me to mark the book down though. 5 stars.
Wow! I absolutely adore a book that brings mystery and secrets in each chapter and this book delivers exactly that! You get little bits of information here and there but I guarantee you won’t be able to guess the ending! Superb thriller from KL Slater which is out today!!
The last chapter had me hold my breath the whole way! Thank you to @bookouture and @netgalley for the advanced copy.
