great synopses of many, many books coming out in late 2023 - gave me a lot of great new books to add to my TBR
This is a great list of upcoming titles complete with excerpts. Very handy to have. I like to flip through it occasionally when I have a few extra minutes.
I love Buzz books publishers lunch sampller, I am always waiting for the new one to come out and OMG this one is a great one with all different segments fiction debuts nonfiction and young adults there something for everyone and this year they have a lot! From heist to cozy mysteries self-help historical fiction and so much more. From great stand out like Green Dot by by Madeline Gray published by Henry Holt and Company two surprises like Flipping Boxcars by Cedric the entertainer and so much more there’s even a book that helps you not be a liar OMG I am not a big fan of self-help but it certainly looks like a good one. I love these books and it always fills up my TBR for the next year and it certainly did with the fall/winter 2023 edition there’s books for many different publishers like Berkeley Henry Holt and Company Kensington books and lots more you really can’t go wrong reading this book they have so much to offer and it really let you know if you will want to read the book or pass it up. I received this book from NetGalley and buzz box I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
It's a good concept of a book so NetGalley readers can request advance copies of the books they might be truly interested in, after having read the exceprt and not judge a book solely based on the author and its cover.
It was so exciting to see what titles will be coming out in the fall! I like how the sampler was organized. A collection like this is a great way to preview a bunch of books and see which ones you will try to get early access to.
I do not know whether I loved this because I now have so many new titles for my TBR or hated it because I am already drowning in titles. Since I do not really have a way to know about new titles, being able to read summaries, experts, and easily request from NetGalley was very helpful. So many new titles that I want to read! I recommend this book, and others in the series, for any strong reader who wants to know what is coming.
I love seeing the Buzz Books publications when they arrive, especially the fall and winter selections as that is the big publishing season and there is usually one or two big literary releases that I want to get my hands on.. This magazine not only let me know what is coming out in the future that I might be interested in, but there are also excerpts from a certain selection of the new titles. I highly recommend downloading and reading this publication.
Where has this been all my life?? My bank balance is going to suffer! Cannot wait for some of these awesome releases
This was a great overview of books across a variety of genres being published later this year. I learned of several titles from both new and well-known authors that I was not aware of already. A great resource for public and school library professionals!
If this sampler is any indication, I will not be wanting for good books to read this year. It’s an impressive selection of excerpts from more than 60 books due to be released this Fall and Winter, and I’m excited to have the chance to be exposed to and sample so many to help me decide which books I’d like to read in the near future.
Thank you to the many many featured authors, Publishers Lunch BUZZ BOOKS, and NetGalley for providing this ARC Sampler and directory for review consideration. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is the first time I've asked for and received one of the Buzz Books. And I think I will ask for more. It is very helpful to read the first couple of chapters in a book to help decide what books to request. There is no guarantee that we will get that book just because we've read from Buzz Books. But, for me, it helps to know what NOT to request if I don't recognize an author.
I love these sneak peaks into upcoming releases. They’re the best to give you an idea of what books to look out for and to get you excited for Fall/Winter. I found quite a few I’m going to look out for:
- The Fox Wife by Yangsze Choo
- The Busy Body by Kemper Donovan (you had me at Veep meets Agatha Christie)
- The Favorites by Rosemary Hennigan (The premise reminds me of the movie Seance which I loved)
- The Djinn Waits A Hundred Years by Shubnum Khan (Anytime there is a ruined mansion by the sea or a haunting my interest is piqued. Add Djinn and I'm definitely going to read this. The excerpt already has me a bit creeped)
- Evil Eye by Etaf Rum (I loved A Woman is No Man and love a story about intergenerational trauma and breaking the cycle.)
- Fair Rosaline by Natasha Solomons (A retelling of Romeo & Juliet from Rosaline's perspective with a possible alternate ending - sign me up.)
- Midnight is the Darkest Hour by Ashley Winstead (I love a southern story and Mary Kubica is one of my favorites and her blurb pulled me in. I’m already sucked in from the excerpt.)
- First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston
- The Night of the Storm by Nishita Parekh (I love a locked-room thriller and it’s set with a multi-generational Indian American family stuck together during hurricane and a few dead bodies.)
- Hush Harbor by Anise Vance (This is definitely a topic that makes my heart hurt but the premise of it sounds like something I’ll be rooting for!)
- I Quit Everything by Freda Love Smith (As someone who has fought addiction in many different forms I’m so intrigued about this.)
- A Drop of Venom by Sajni Patel (Girl and boy fall in love, girl becomes Snape viper monster, boy sent to kill monster - doesn't know it's his love. This sounds so good!)
- Her Dark Wings by Melinda Salisbury (I will always read a Persephone story and it has a very cool cover.)
I love reading about what books are going to be released in the coming months so this was perfect! I appreciate how detailed this was and am looking forward to lots of the titles listed.
Lots of interesting samples - added a couple to my TBR.
There is a lot of information in this Buzz Books that slightly overwhelmed me, but over all I appreciated all of the information.
I read these guides every season because there is always some book I haven't heard of being released and it allows you to read the excerpt. Unfortunately, it must be slim pickings in the publishing industry for this upcoming fall/winter season. Nothing in particular stood out. Here's hoping this nearly thousand-page guide are intentionally keeping a few secrets from us readers.
Introduced me to some new authors, and made me excited to request titles from the ones I already know and love!
I always love reading about new releases, and this preview helps me decide what is a must-read! It's very helpful to book bloggers.
Publishers Lunch did a phenomenal job compiling the list of titles, and I was introduced to several that I hadn't heard of yet. I particularly appreciated the excerpts that were included, as far too often, I'm hesitant to request a book on NetGalley if I'm not sure if it will be for me.
I appreciated the collection of books to browse, and see which I may want t I pick up.
Thanks NetGalley for the advanced reader’s copy.
Buzz Books 2023: Fall/Winter has outdone itself once again with its 23rd edition, providing readers with an insider's glimpse into over sixty of the most anticipated books of the season. This vast collection features bestsellers like Naomi Alderman and Kiley Reid, as well as literary titans like Lauren Groff and Etaf Rum, setting the stage for an exhilarating reading journey.
