Oh wow!!.This book was so.well written, I was scared, tearful ,vengeful!!
Sophie, after a whirlwind romance, married Jay after only eight months. He seemed the perfect partner but on their wedding night, in a fit of temper, he broke her wrist!. He slowly but surely separated her from her family and friends until it was just them.....He had her completely under his control!.
I was totally engrossed and invested in this story that I read it in one sitting!. There are some triggers so if you think it may affect you, maybe leave it ?. Otherwise, for the rest of us, I would highly recommend this story. You won't be able to put it down either!!! I have to say,I was totally thrown by the ending because I never saw it coming!. Fantastic!!!!
I received this free ARC book for an honest review.

Overall, not for me. Well written, quick read, but very disturbing. A book about physical and mental abuse, that’s not really a thriller but more a dark domestic suspense. The author is a brilliant writer. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
My thanks to Net Galley, Boldwood Books and the personal invitation I received to review this arc.
Description is definitely accurate but I did not get that this was a psychological thriller. This was more of a very disturbing and triggering domestic thriller about the physical and mental abuse suffered by a woman, Sophie, who realizes the man she married, Jay, is not what he appears to be. Well written, quick read, but very disturbing. Did not like the one part of the story about Sebastian. I recommend this, but with caution.
Harrowing, Disturbing…
Impactful portrayal of domestic violence and toxic relationships in this desperately sad tale - billed as being inspired, tragically, by a true story. The narrative certainly hits home, characters are well drawn - some appallingly so - and also credible. A harrowing and disturbing read.
I really enjoyed this book. The story and characters were easy to follow and the story was so true to life. Well written and I look forward to the next book.
This book is so captivating and a book that I could not put down. At the same time I did not want to finish as I just wanted to keep reading it. It is that good!
A gripping psychological thriller that had me up all night needing to know how it ends, even though the subject matter of abuse was tough to digest along with the majority of characters being extremely detestable &/or frustrating, somehow this had little effect on me turning those pages until the end!
Its a well written rollercoaster of emotions, crammed with suspense & tension and a skilfully thought out plot. By the end of the book you are almost left to feel hanging with complete dissatisfaction until that final twist!
It also gives the reader a better understanding or insight into the mind of victims of abuse & how/why it is so very difficult for them to leave.
Thank you Danielle Ramsay & Netgalley for allowing me to read an ARC of The Perfect Husband which I have reviewed in my honest opinion.

Oh, man. It’s no secret I love a domestic thriller, but sometimes they are so well written it can be hard to push through, and this was one of those books. Heart wrenching doesn’t even begin to describe the experience our FMC Sophie has, starting with spending the night of her wedding in the emergency room. Things only escalated from there, as they usually do in these types of situations, and I found Jay to be a terrifyingly realistic villain.
Overall I really enjoyed this book, and found it very compelling. I flew through the chapters and wondered what was going to happen next when I wasn’t reading. I would definitely recommend checking for triggers before reading! But overall this was an absolutely gripping read that I couldn’t put down. I can’t wait to check out Danielle’s back list!
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and Boldwood Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
*Review will be live on Instagram, Goodreads, and Amazon on pub day!
I’m really struggling to find the words to review this one. The subject matter is very specific and I don’t have personal experience to be able to speak on it. I’d like to say it was a bit ridiculous how quickly Sophie’s mother and sister abandon her, but maybe that’s typical? Maybe I didn’t grasp the whole dynamic? But there wasn’t much detail about life prior to the wedding of Sophie and Jay. So to me, their absence was sudden and abrupt. Some of the writing, as far as Jays descriptions especially, was just a tad on the cringey side… or a lot on the cringey side. I don’t feel like we had closure for this story, and I’m not sure if that’s intentional or not. Overall I wouldn’t scream from the rooftops that you should read this one, but I wouldn’t discourage it either.
Thank you to the publishers for the gifted ARC.
Omg! This is an absolutely amazing read! I had so many emotions reading it. My poor husband got a chapter and verse as well. Brilliant

This isn’t a thriller - it’s a story of domestic violence. There aren’t any surprises or twists, it’s a woman’s tragic experience with domestic violence. It’s written decently enough but it is not what I wanted to read. It was incredibly predictable and there wasn’t any mystery. It was going to be a solid 3/5 even considering the lack of mystery or thriller aspects until I got about 75% through and Sebastian was murdered. I would not have even looked at this book if I knew that was going to happen and killing him was unnecessary. It’s not like it was an escalation or anything; we already knew Jay was a terrible person who wanted to kill Sophie. I honestly wish I hadn’t read this book.
This was quite the read. It's definitely triggering and a very traumatic topic but it's written with brutal honesty and compassion to the subject matter. I found it impossible not to be so heavily invested and to be rooting for the the character throughout. The husband is just one of the most vike characters I've ever come across and yet also scarily real and reminiscent of too many men you come across in real life.... thankfully not quite to that extreme though. Its very well written and doesn't victim blame or minimise the trauma in any regard. A trully powerful read that had me hooked
A new author for me and what an absolute page turner from the beginning until the very last page, I loved it and what an ending, just great with well described characters.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this brilliant ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending.
The Perfect Husband by Danielle Ramsay
He was my dream partner, loving, caring, attentive… until the day I married him and things became toxic.
I spent my wedding night in A&E with an ‘unexplained’ broken wrist – but I knew what happened….
My romantic illusions shattered. My fear of the future heightened.
The man I had fallen in love with wasn’t the man I married.
And that was just the start of things to come.
Poor , poor Sophie she thought he was the man of her dreams , and he was - until she got that ring on her finger.
A brilliant , but horrific read on domestic violence , full of suspense and moments where Iwanted to rip her husband from the pages and do him in myself. A brilliant ending I wasn't quite expecting .
The Perfect Husband by Danielle Ramsay is my first read from this author, but it will certainly not be my last. I was completely engrossed and emotionally invested from beginning to end.
Sophie believes that she has found the man of her dreams in Jay, and the two decide to marry after an eight month courtship. But things take a dark turn very quickly after the nuptials, so quickly in fact that Sophie spends her wedding night in the hospital following an injury sustained by the actions of her new husband. Isolating her from family and friends, Jay's shockingly abusive behaviour continues to escalate as Sophie's grim new reality begins to set in.
This is, undeniably, an emotionally difficult and triggering read, and I found myself racing through the pages in breathless, often horrified, anticipation. As frustrating as Sophie's choices are, her plight really got under my skin and I was with her all the way as we faced off against a common villain. Recommended.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC.
Thank you Netgalley and boldwood books for the arc of ‘The perfect husband’ by Danielle Ramsey.
What a page turner! There are trigger warnings so be aware. Thoroughly enjoyed reading as I sat on the edge of my seat.
The tension in this book had my blood pressure up. A gripping and captivating domestic thriller with emotional elements. Gobbled this up.
Wow! My first Danielle Ramsay book but definitely not my last! This one hooked me early on and just never let go. The tension and creep factor were just off the charts. Although I did find myself talking to the main character. And sometimes my language might not have been appropriate. Awesome characters
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book
The book is "okay". It starts well and is engaging at first but it never moves forward. The husband is horrible, repeatedly, then he has implausible brief spells of niceness. Instead of the intelligent, successful woman taking the opportunity to flee when he goes out, she whines that he is leaving her on her own. While I know that this sort of behaviour goes on, it was all so sudden - an immediate switch on their wedding day for no reason. Her family, who didn't like the husband, turned against their sister/daughter without any question about why she was acting in the way they perceived she was and her lifelong best friends disappeared from her life leaving her to the mercy of someone who was a caricature of nastiness. Unfortunately the heroine was so poorly drawn as a character that I didn't really care what happened to her. I got to the end but didn't really care about the ending.
Wow! This book certainly kept me riveted until the very end.
The story tells of Sophie, a woman who has a whirlwind romance and then a very quick marriage to Jay. At first Jay seems the perfect, loving, attentive boyfriend, but all that changes pretty fast no sooner after the wedding.
It was sometimes hard to understand what a physically abused woman goes through, but the book is well written and believable.
I thank the author, publisher and Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
