Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.
Book 18 in the Detective Kim Stone series and it didn’t disappoint.
Kim and the team investigate when a local psychic is found stabbed to death. They suspect it is to do with an evening she attempted to do readings for a yoga group. When more bodies turn up the focus changes. Is it related to an old murder case of a 15 year old boy and how does the local church minister fit in?
This was such a good book. Less eventful than others in the series but still enjoyable. Love all these characters. They work so well together. Finishing with a cliffhanger means I can’t wait for book 19!
I highly recommend this whole series, one of my favourites.
DI Kim Stone and the team are back investigating the brutal death of psychic, Sandra Deakins. The trail leads them to a priest with old fashioned values on the world and the lives of a yoga group who were the last to see Sandra in a professional capacity. All have hidden stories behind what the original reveal to Stone. Stacey, meanwhile gets the attention of a stalker and Penn is trying to identify a homeless person without a name.
Another power punch of a story. Stone and her team are so well defined and developed, they gel and support each other through thick and thin. You won’t be disappointed with the latest instalment which is rather pacy. The dry humour of Stone and also pathologist, Keats helps them through such dark scenes.
Detective Kim Stone book 18 in the series, when you think they can't get any better , Wham, omg, brilliant, I just love how you have all the little offshoots that come together, if you haven't started reading and of the Kim Stone books by Angela Marsons then get on it now, absolutely fantastic series,
This was a hard 3.5 stars (rounded up) for D.I. Kim Stone. One of my favourite police procedural series and it missed the mark in a few respects.
While the serial killer plot was fine and I found the focus on psychics interesting and unique, it was less engaging than I've grown used to from Angela Marsons and I wasn't desperate to keep reading all the time.
There is a stalker side story in this and I considered it very well researched.
My biggest gripes are that the big reveal at the end came on quite abruptly and the characters we know quite well now, given this is book 18 in the series, were doing sh*t that they just ordinarily wouldn't - making stupid or bad choices. There were only about 3 parts that I laughed at Kim's banter in this one so that was a bit unusual too.
Either way, I will ofc continue with the series and this was enjoyable enough to want to keep going.
⚠️ Check TWs online, includes stalking ⚠️
Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for my eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Number 18 in the outstanding Kim Stone series, author Angela Marsons knows exactly what her loyal readers are waiting for. Fabulous, nail biting thrillers packed with the characters that we have come to love.
This book does not disappoint and I completed it easily in one day as I couldn’t wait to get to the end.
Kim and her team are tasked with solving some brutal stabbings of several locally well known psychics. While on their enquiries Stacey inadvertently catches the attention of a known stalker and Kim looks into an old crime.
Great plot as usual and so easy to read. A great addition to the series which I recommend to everyone.
Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely adore the Detective Stone series and I was delighted to get the opportunity to review the newest book. I loved the plot and read the book over one sitting as I was so engrossed. It was a brilliant read and I look forward to reading Detective Stone books for many years to come!
Angela Marsons & the Kim Stone series has been an auto-buy series for me since I started the first book, and from reading the blurb for Deadly Fate I knew that book 18 would not be an exception. I did not put the book down till I had finished it and gave it a much deserved 5 stars!
Deadly Fate follows Kim and her team as they investigate the murder of a psychic, as well as the side investigations that frequent the series. Masons seamlessly weaves together these multiple storylines and characters, linking everything back to this initial murder in a way that isn’t expected yet fits perfectly. Getting to see characters return from earlier books in the series and become crucial parts of the investigation, alongside the usual returning cast – Kim, Bryant, Stacey and Penn– is a bonus I didn’t anticipate but very much appreciated! As with every Kim Stone book it kept me guessing until the very end, and with the way it ended I can safely say I am eagerly awaiting the next book (already!)
A massive thank you to Bookouture, Angela Marsons and Net Galley for the ARC
I just love Kim Stone books, to the point where I don't even need to read the blurb to know I can't wait to read it.
Deadly Fate was no different an interesting plot revolving around psychics and linking into a previous unsolved murder.
Kim is her usual sceptical self in regards to psychics, but even she might need to open her mind.
There is a really intriguing sub plot involving Stacey which doesn't get resolved and something she buffs keeping to herself... I was screaming at her to tell the team. This sub plot looks to run into the next book.
Love these books do much.
Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to review this book this is my honest opinion
Hard to believe that this is the eighteenth book in the Detective Kim Stone series by author by Angela Marsons. This is yet another excellent crime thriller that is not just a must read for followers of the series but for anyone who enjoys good quality crime novels. Works well as a standalone but why miss out on the previous seventeen novels for total enjoyment.
Detective Kim Stone is investigating the murder of Sandra Deakin, whose body is found in an overgrown graveyard with multiple stab wounds. Kim is convinced that this murder was deeply personal, and as she digs deeper into Sandra’s life, she discovers that she believed she could communicate with the dead.
This is a fast paced novel with the usual characters and I just couldn’t put it down. Detective Kim Stone is a very strong character but is well supported by many other compelling characters. A very good police procedural novel and hopefully there are a lot more to come in this excellent series.
‘Deadly Fate’ is a fantastic read for fans of crime thrillers. It’s a well-written and engaging novel with a fast-paced plot, strong characters, and a thrilling conclusion that will leave readers eager for more. Highly recommended!
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Deadly Fate by Angela Marsons is Book 18 in the Detective Kim Stone series and it is another really good read by the author. In this book the main theme is about psychics, are they all frauds or do some have some ability to communicate with the dead?
There will be three murders of psychics or those connected to that industry before the end of the book, who is it and why? There are also other subplots within the storyline and the one concerning Stacey that will run into the next book in the series.
Each and every book in the series has been an excellent and enjoyable read and Deadly Fate is another fantastic book in the series.
Highly recommended
Deadly Fate by Angela Marsons is book 18 in the Detective Kim Stone series. This series is as fresh in this book, as it was in book 1. Such a great series. Kim was looking forward to spending time on rebuilding her dream project – her Vincent Black Shadow, but the vicious murder of Sandra Deakin, a local psychic, put a stop to that before it even started. Sandra had not been having the best time of it. She’d attended the dinner party from hell, and she’d been receiving poisonous emails from someone for a few years, but the emails were becoming more aggressive. However, that is not the only thing happening. There are other events that work their way into the mix and these events add so much to the story. Kim, Bryant, Penn and Stacey are terrific characters. I love the interaction between them and their very different personalities. This is what stands out for me and is something I look forward to each time a new book is released.
Book 18 in this fantastic series .Detective Kim Stone and her team, Bryant, Stacey and Penn investigate the murder of a psychic. A brilliant read from start to finish . I won’t say too much about the plot so as not to give spoilers. Considering it’s book 18 in the series it is as fresh as ever. The investigating team are a vital part of the books., their camaraderie, banter and humour are just perfect. I eagerly look forward to book 19. A gripping, brilliant 5 star read.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this eARC.
This is another cracking read from Angela Marsons, and in my opinion her Kim Stone series gets better with each new book. She is one of my go to authors where I request one of her books without reading its premise because I know full well l'm in for a great read.
I loved being back in Kim's world again and enjoyed following her and the team as they investigate a brutal murder of a psychic. The characters are so likeable and relatable and I now feel like they are old friends. I love the authors writing style, it flows so easily and effortlessly. When another body is found Kim knows she is in a race against time to find the murderer. There are several story threads running here which all begin to join up and come together beautifully towards the end. I loved one thread and will be eager to see where this goes next, and how it wil pan out. I kept wanting to shout at the character tell someone .... I could feel the fear, panic and how this was affecting them and the author raised the bar with her writing here as it became full of menace and suspense and parts were chilling to read.
So, overall another fab read and an excellent addition to this series. Angela Marsons certainly knows how to connect with her readers and keep them invested in her books. This book really hit the mark with me and I look forward to the next one although I feel quite apprehensive about it too.
5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Another belter of a book from Angela Marsons book 18 Deadly Fate.
The book starts with Kim and her team having a welcomed weekend off, however Kim is called out to deal with a dead body brutally murdered in a church grave yard. Who turns out to be psychic Sandy which in turn brings up a lot of thought provoking conversation between the team members.
There are several things going on in book which ties in later on in book. Had the feel of the other books with Kim's compassion and all the usual banter from the rest of the team and also a few other characters we not seen for a while which was great.
Really really looking forward to next one which cannot come soon enough.
Thankyou for advanced copy.
Well, what can I say – author Angela Marsons has done it once again. I am so hooked on this series and the incredible writing style of Marsons.
Deadly Fate had me on tenterhooks constantly trying to figure out who the killer was… by chapter 17 I thought I had it nailed, how wrong was I? Very!! I mean at some point most of the cast list on deadly fate became a suspect and yet never once was the actual killer on my radar.
When Kim and her team are sent in all different directions while trying to find a killer for a group of people that were unliked to say the least…
BUT… although by the end of the book I couldn’t read fast enough, wanting to know who the heck had done this, my favourite part of this book was definitely how clever Marsons was in tying each other crime that was being investigated on the side. I was in awe and that was a twist I definitely didn’t see coming.
This was an incredible edition to the Stone series and yet again I am already counting down the weeks till we can meet her again!
Another edge-of-seat gripping novel by Angela Marsons. Her characters are so 3-dimensional that you feel that if they knocked on your door you would recognise them immediately. I love the repartee between Kim and Bryant and the fact that they have each other's backs. I am impressed by the way the character of Stacey has developed through the series, from someone who was a computer geek but didn't want to leave the office to someone who is strong and feisty. The storyline is intricate but all the ends are tied up at the finish.
My favorite author is officially Angela Marsons! I've read so many of her books, and not one of them feels off. This time, our badass detective Kim is back, and oh, how happy I was to see her again. The team has to investigate a string of psychic murders, and I didn't see that plot twist coming, but it was a good one. I can't wait to read more about Stacy in the next book!
Always enjoy a Kim Stone adventure and this was no exception. Angie Marsons delivers again. Just so easy to fall in step with familiar characters. Filled with tension, twists and turns.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book
We can't possibly have an explanation for everything in this world. Wild, wide, and beyond words.
Angela Marsons works her magic, once again, in Deadly Fate. There's quite a different vibe permeating throughout this one. Marsons steps onto a level of those events in life that can't quite fit into the box of the expected. Actions that are not squared off at the edges. The act of knowing.......just because.
Detective Kim Stone is settled down to spend the evening with the two most precious things in her life. Her dog Barney and her prized motorcycle needing adjustment. But a call comes in from Keats, the pathologist. A body has been found in a cemetery near St. John the Baptist Church. Turns out to be female and turns out to be a local medium nicknamed "Psychic Sandy". The killer has brutally left a calling card.
Kim rounds up the team: DS Bryant, DC Stacey Wood, and DS Penn. If you're new to this series, you will suddenly be joined at the hip by these outstanding individuals. They are the next best thing to a band of royal bloodhounds. Keats calls, once again, with the announcement of an unidentified dead man who appears to be homeless but doesn't have the markings of one. Penn takes this one on with serious flags poppin' up in the making.
Back to that cemetery.......Just who would want Sandra Deakin dead? Kim and her team grab Sandra's calendar of psychic bookings. Something must be amiss. Just what and who? And as this story unfolds, the numbers of guilty parties seem to be in the legions. And the bodies will, too.
Angela Marsons, hands down, is one of my favorite writers. She lights the match each time and the curl of the flame takes off. Short precise chapters, well-chiseled characters, highly intelligent storylines, and masterful writing are her calling cards. Deadly Fate is more than a police procedural here.. Angela Marsons has opened the door to the possibilities that not all investigations and their outcomes can be left to straight logic. There's more of a compassionate vibe in this one as well. The victims become more than just victims. And Kim will peel back a layer that we've yet to see. Just watch.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review. My thanks to Bookouture and to the talented Angela Marsons for the opportunity.
How are we on book 18! I absolutely love this series and Deadly Fate is another brilliant instalment. As always, there is a lot going – the team are dealing with a number of cases this time - I really enjoy how the author successfully flicks between team members; this ramps up the tension throughout. We have another cliff-hanger ending, and I have to say, this has left me feeling concerned for one of my favourite characters… A fabulous five star read from a very talented author.
