I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. I love the cover. I want to say I really enjoyed this book. It is a great book to read if you are not looking for a bunch of immature 20 year olds. But the main character is 60 and she goes on an adventure in finding what she wants to do with her life. It was set in beautiful Italy and the author did a great job describing the scenery and the food, it made me feel like I was there.
An easy read and a pleasure to do so. Well written with well formed characters and the settings were very good to. 5stars
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC

This was well written and I loved! Especially the trip to Italy! Loved the description of the beautiful place and the characters. Liked the character Gio as well. Look forward to reading more from this author especially if it means more travelling to Italy.
What an enjoyable book. Nobody of importance in the book is under the age of 60. It was refreshing to read about Clover at the age of 61 finding herself forced out of her job and going to Italy to visit her cousin and figure out her next steps. I loved Eleanor, Clover’s 79 year old mother. She was such a hoot. It was charming reading about Clover and her mom finding romance again. I highly recommend this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was a fun read with enjoyable characters and a lovely Italian setting. I loved the fact that the main character was a bit older than I'm used to finding in many novels, reminding readers that it's never too late to figure out what we want in life (including love). Clover is a well-crafted character who shows wonderful growth throughout the book. Clover's mother was a fun character, and it was nice to see her develop, as well. The dynamics between Clover and her mother may resonate with some readers. There are a lot of food references, so be warned if you read this on an empty stomach! Overall, the book is a good reminder of what life's all about. (Hint - It's not work!)
Lovely slow unfolding story of Clover, a 60 year old workaholic who is suddenly made redundant. At a loss at that to do and with and uncaring boyfriend she leaves for Italy, where her best friend has married an Italian.
The descriptions are beautiful including the detail in the food. She starts a relationship with the local Italian batchelor.
I loved that this was a book about a 60 year old but felt as though it was about a thirty or fourty year old where there was life, happiness and romance. Her mother at 80 even arrives and finds a new life for herself. Nice to read something about someone considered older.
Oh boy! A read that I not only loved but made me think long and hard about my own life in a good way.
Clover Harrington has been in the corporate world all her life and at 61 she is about to be rewarded with the price she has strived to all of these years- a directorship. She is taken in to HR and thinks this is the start of something wonderful. It is but not in the way she first thought. She has been made redundant and suddenly there is this huge work shaped hole in her life that she hasn't really given any thought to. Her partner Jack isn't supportive and only ever thinks about himself. Within hours Clover decides she needs a break and a change. Seeing something Italian gives her an idea and soon she is on her way to Italy to someone she should have seen sooner- her cousin Zoe and she is given the time and support to really think things through about her next steps in life. Then her mother arrives- someone she can only tolerate in very small doses and even then with much (theoretical) eye rolling.
Wow! A book of what life is all about. Yes we all need to work but even during that era we need time to ourselves and when retirement looms sometimes it's hard to step off that treadmill and not be at the behest of others. We have one life- live it. Dance in the rain and sing in the shower! This made me smile with lines such as “someone old enough to be carbon dated” and think of my next steps in life. “ Time is a currency that I needed to spend wisely”. A truly memorable read from a very talented author- please sign me up for the next one now.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the early reader's copy of this publication. I following is my own opinion of the book.
Such a cute and fast moving that keeps your attention thru the book. The characters and the storyline will keep you turning the pages.
Thanks to Net Galley and Boldwood Books for allowing me to read an advance copy of A Vintage Vacation in exchange for an honest review.
When Clover Harrington is made redundant at the age of 61 she is forced to take a good, hard look at her life and reevaluate her priorities. As someone of her generation, I thoroughly related to her circumstances and felt that this story was speaking directly to me. When she decided to jump on a plane to visit a cousin in Italy, I felt like joining her.
Italy is the perfect backdrop for her journey, as she moves through anger and sorrow toward peace, friendship, love and happiness. When her outspoken 79-year-old mother decides to join her an extra layer is added to the story, as they work through mother-daughter issues. Those of us who have elderly mothers can certainly relate.
I loved this gentle tale of a woman’s journey of self-discovery!
A lovely novel which shows that getting older doesn't mean settling or giving up. Beautifully descriptive and a joy to read.
Another wonderful book from Maddie Please. When high flyer Clover is abruptly made redundant and throws out her unfeeling partner there is nothing to stop her going to stay in Italy for an extended break with her cousin. There is a strong sense of place with beautiful descriptions, making this a perfect holiday read for anyone heading to Italy, though I equally enjoyed it one wet day in Yorkshire. Don’t read this when you’re hungry - it’ll make you crave red wine, cheese and bread! I can’t wait for the next book from this entertaining writer.
* I received this ARC for honest feedback.
I so enjoyed this book! Clover is in her early 60s, just made redundant from her job, and decides to visit family in Italy. This whole story is of her finding out who she really is, and who she wants to be. She has spent her life furthing her career, while pushing friends and family to the back, and being let go was just the push Clover needed to realize what's truly important in life.
I would love to read more about Clover in the future, and keep up with her new life.
A fun romance/chick lit story with the refreshing component of the protagnonist being over 60. Hits on some truths about ageism in the workplace and explores a not so late change in life. An added bonus is the main character's mother does the same, in her late 70s. While a fun romp, I would have liked to have read more about the workplace issues, more than a summary dismissal and a snivelling plea from Clover's boss who wants her back. Where are the coworkers? There was potentially some rich storytelling here that was of more interest to me than the "move to Italy, solve all problems" solution. Adding 4th star because a lake side Italy setting is so lovely, after all.
I felt totally transported to the Italian Lakes in this gorgeous story, about how life is to be lived, and that age really doesn't matter.
When Clover is made redundant and her partner is rather unsupportive, Clover decides she need a change of location and jets of to Italy to visit her cousin who she hasn't seen that much of. She is though rather used to the corporate world. so doubts herself almost immediately as she realises she is now in rural Italy.
This is a story of great character development for both Clover, and her mother too. As I have come to expect from Maddie Please, the main characters are in the advanced years of their lives, which always makes a nice change of pace from some of the other books I read.
And the adventures these ladies get up to while in Italy, especially for affairs of the heart, are rather special. Just goes to show you can teach an old dog new tricks not that any of the silver foxes in this story are dogs!
I especially love Clovers mother's antics on arriving in Italy, as well as her thoughts of the other people in her assisted living facility.
There is a new lease of life for both ladies that is incredibly pleasing to see, with a spattering of Italian words, and plenty of great Italian food. This was a joy to read.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This is a quick fun read with quirky likable characters. The main character loses her job and knows it won’t be easy to find another one. She decides to get away. This author is talented at writing a story that reads like nonfiction. This really happens. I liked the main character and her age which added to the story. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author. Enjoy.
