I was in two minds when I started reading this book as I am not a huge lover of dogs, but it grew on me and I couldn't put it down in the end. Having loved a lot of Sarah's previous books, I was determined to read it and so glad I did.
I received this ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
The first thing that made me take a look at this book was the cover, how beautiful is it?.
The book opens with Ginny heading a staff meeting to organise a Family Fun Day to raise much needed funds for The Wagging Tails’ Dogs Home.
All the other volunteers/ staff at the meeting are really interesting characters and I was excited to read more and learn all about them.
It’s been 4 years since Ginny left her cheating/controlling ex Jason and moved away and found a new life , now she’s horrified to learn he’s moved near her and wants to reconnect but she’s not interested after what he put her through and is happy being single.
When they can’t get in touch with the local reporter to put an advertisement about The Fun Day in the paper they wonder why he’s not answering his phone like he normally does, they soon learn he’s retired and been replaced by Darryl who’s not bothered about the Dogs Home at all and is rather rude.
After a rocky start sparks begin to fly between Ginny and Darryl but it’s not plain sailing with lots of ups and downs.
The whole book was just so lovely and I really enjoyed the dogs and the dogs home and all the effort they put into finding new homes for the dogs just like countless people do in real life up and down the country.
I was positively charmed by all the residents and characters in this story and I could really tell it’s going to be part of a series and it’s going to be a fantastic series!.
I wasn’t sure about this at first but, it turned out ok in the end. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
This turned out to be a nice feel good story. I wasn’t too sure about it at the beginning. Darryl and Ginny clashed for the first few chapters. Overall it was a good story and makes you want to help rescue dogs.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the early copy

An enjoyable easy read.
Ginny ended things with her fiancé, Jason, a few years ago, after catching him cheating on her. He then kicked her out of their house and moved his new girlfriend in. Ginny then moved from London to the little, seaside village of West Par, giving up her career in real estate.
At the Wagging Tails Dogs' Home, she found Flora, the owner, and a new way of life. First as a volunteer, and then as a valued employee, Ginny devotes herself to giving dogs a new start in life, and finding them new homes. She's an organizer, and very good at some of their most important fundraising activities, including organizing their biggest annual fundraiser, the Family Fun Day.
But as they are coming up on their next Family Fun Day, they realize they haven't either heard from the local reporter who normally includes the fundraiser in his weekly column, nor seen the event mentioned. Ginny heads off to the newspaper offices--and discovers that the old reporter had retired a few months ago. He's been replaced by a reporter from London, who thinks the Family Fun Day story is too minor for him.
She's determined to get him out to the dogs' home, though, and she succeeds. At first, it's not as effective as she hopes, but she doesn't give up.
Somewhere along the line, they start actually talking to each other, rather than just at each other.
It turns out, Darryl has a soft heart for dogs. Well, for the right dog.
Along the way, we get to see the workings of an independent, privately owned, small rescue for dogs. There are the two retired racing greyhounds, who can't be adopted out separately. (They've tried.) There's Ralph, the pit-type dog, who looks powerful and scary-looking, but a real sweetheart. Unfortunately, he's not likely to be adopted, and may be permanent resident dog. There's Lola, a Lab mix, taken in from the local official shelter, already full and with a large surrender of dogs coming in. There's Belle and Tiger, two small dogs dropped over the dogs' home fence, with their collars and tags still on. (I have Views on what could have happened, but it's Ms. Hope's book, and she says this was heartless owners who did this, to get rid of them without hassle. And she's the boss of her fictional world.)
Darryl starts writing about the home and the upcoming fundraiser every week, and helping out at the home. Darryl and Ginny start to, very cautiously, like each other.
But Ginny got burned bad by Jason. And in the course of this, she finds out Jason is the new editor-in-chief at the paper--Jason's boss.
This leads to some interesting complications. Jason wants Ginny back, or acts like he does. That Ginny used to be engaged to Jason gives Darryl entirely justified doubts, in my opinion, about Ginny's judgment and taste.
When Jason realizes that Darryl and Ginny are at least interested in each other, he's determined to break them up. Unfortunately, Ginny shares my and Jason's doubts about her judgment, and is afraid Jason might not be lying.
Can Ginny really give Darryl a chance? Will Jason, Darryl, or both men go back to London and the magazines? Will the Family Fun Day be a success?
This isn't a perfect book, but there's a lot to like here. Cute dogs. A well-run rescue. People who take the challenges and surprises thrown at them, and keep on going. And despite my criticism of her judgment, I really like Ginny, Darryl, Flora, and the other workers and volunteers at Wagging Tails Dogs' Home.
Did I mention cute dogs?
It's a fun read.
I received a free electronic galley from the publisher via NetGalley and Rachel's Random Resources.

Nice easy read about helping stray dogs, as you would expect from the title. Slightly annoying main character but nothing that ruins the story. Enjoyable quick summer read. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy
Good, but I did find the main character, Ginny, annoying as the book went on. Yes, I know her ex cheated on her, but did she have to be so distrustful of Darryl? Darryl was really nice. I loved reading about the dogs, which made up for how annoying Ginny was. With thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Ok, I really wanted to love this book! And to start with I did but then I became more and more annoying with Ginny and ended up not liking her much at all, simply because of the constant comparisons she was making and her inner monologue. I love the dogs, I loved their stories and wanted to visit the fun day, I just didn’t enjoy Ginny’s story as much sadly!
Literally adored everything about this book. The beautiful fur babies literally made this book. If you love animals make sure this is on your to read pile. Loved it.
This is a lovely story that has various stories running through it. The main character is Ginny who works at the Wagging Tail Dogs Home. With the dogs home in desperate need of funds and the annual dog show round the corner she goes to the local paper to get them to advertise it. However the reporter she knows has retired and the new one, Darryl, doesn’t seem to take her seriously. She does all she can to convince him how important advertise dogs home is not realising that it might be the best thing she has ever done. Alongside this there is the message of dogs needing new homes, friendship and community. With great characters and some adorable dogs this is an easy to read romance .
Well with a title like that, this book was always going to capture my attention, and once I started reading, I knew it was right to. As the words held my attention as I devoured this story over a Bank Holiday Monday.
If this is the quality of Sarah Hope's storytelling normally then, she has just won a fan in me, as I loved this book, and her writing.
I was gripped and really cared about all of the dogs at the Wagging Tails Dogs' Home, while being angered at some of the conditions the dogs arrived at the dogs home in. But they never turn anyone away, and although fund raising is critical to them, the team is made up of a motley mix of complete and utter dog lovers.
And the dogs were utterly adorable and stole my heart, especially Tiger and Luna.
But it is also about our faithful 2 legged companions, yes the humans, and Ginny is devoted to the dogs home and is determined to get the local paper to run articles leading up to the Family Fun Day, which is easier said than done on discovering their local reporter has suddenly retired.
This was very easy to read, and a sheer joy to . I loved every second of this book, and am already definitely keen to read more from the author. Just wonderful.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
I wanted to love this but there was just something off about the story and characters. Ginny is very distrusting and throughout the book doesn’t actually seem to trust or like her romantic partner. At times she acts like a petulant teenager and at other times is very controlling. It’s a very annoying behavior to read about. The reader is left questioning many weird things like what did Darryl actually say to Dean? Why would Ginny be dating someone she finds threatening? All that and so much more.
Not enough dog stories and the romance didn’t work. Just too much underlying junk in the way of the story.
Dogs and romance - what more could I ask for?
I absolutely LOVED this book, I couldn't put it down! I lived my dream life of working at a dog rescue through the eyes of the main character, Ginny.
After her fiancé cheated on her, Ginny escaped the hustle and bustle of London to a seaside town in Cornwall where Flora, the Wagging Tails dog rescue owner, took her in and helped her get her life back together. They're organising the annual summer fundraiser when they realise the local journalist hasn't put the advert out in the local paper and it's only a few weeks away! When Ginny turns up at the newspapers office, she finds that there is a new journalist in town, Darryl, and they do not get off on the right foot. What's worse is Ginny's ex has followed her out of London and is his boss! Can Darryl salvage what he does? Can Ginny forgive him? Will Jason leave them alone or will he destroy their connection before they've had a chance to pursue it?
I love an enemies to lovers trope and this did not disappoint! I was giggling at times, and read the whole book with a smile on my face. I can't wait for more books in this series!
I simply loved this heart warming cozy clean romance!! This is in my top 10 favorites of the year.

Setting, A home for animals that need their forever home. Lovely read and the characters have been well developed. Great book. 5 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
This was an enjoyable story about helping stray dogs find their forever homes, and about a delightful couple of people who meet and fall in love. It is a sweet, easy story especially if you enjoy reading about a cute dog or two, or even twenty two.
I really like the cover of this book!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This story has more layers. First of all it's a "from enemies to firends" romance. But there is more to it. The novel also wants to raise awareness to the invaluable service of animal shelters, rescue centers and similar establishments.
I really enjoyed reading about the dogs in the dogs' home. Their stories also warn people about the importance of being responsible dog owners.
The plot is quite interesting, but I thought the dialogues were sometimes a little flat and the characters felt sometimes a little two-dimensional.
Still, it is a nice romance that makes an enjoyable reading.

This promises to be a good series and I will be watching out for book two.
A lovely story about a dog charity with a nice slow love story in the back ground. . The main character had left a bad relationship and found a job , home and friendship by working in a dog home. Some of the way dogs were abounded was so sad. You don’t have to be a dog lover to enjoy this book. A really good read. I enjoyed it very much
