This was a great mystery/thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat!
The book was full of twists and turns (some of which I didn’t see coming) and avoided being too stereotypical of mysteries/thrillers involving a missing person.
This was a fresh, twisty take on the case of a missing woman. I’d recommend it to others looking for a great read!
Thank you NetGalley and William Morrow publishing for the ARC of Gillian McAllister’s latest, Just Another Missing Person.
DCI Julia Day struggles with knowing she never found a missing woman, Sadie, the year prior. Distracted by events in her own personal life, she didn’t give Sadie’s case her full attention.
Fast forward to present day. A new missing woman, Olivia, is on DCI Day’s caseload. Day is determined to give Olivia’s case her full attention, and to not make the same mistakes she made with Sadie’s case.
Just Another Missing Person was confusing at first, with lots of characters and moving parts, but quickly had me on the edge of my seat. You won’t expect the twists at the end!
Gillian McAllister’s latest will be available on August 1, 2023.
Julia is a detective who gives everything to her job. When someone finds out information about her family that they shouldn't know-how far across the line is she willing to go to save the ones she loves most?
This book had SO MUCH going on & there were so many things to keep up with. It was honestly just a little too far fetched for me. It was like, let me do every wild off the wall thought that I can think of and just go ahead and add it in.
There were many plot twists (I guessed none of them) so that is definitely a positive.
I think that there was just a lot going on so I just felt a little overwhelmed in trying to keep all of the details straight.
Thank you to Netgalley and William Morrow for providing me with this advance copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were not influenced.

OMG, when I say Gillian McAllister does it again, she does it again! My first read of hers was Wrong Place Wrong Time and she blew me away with that, and now she has done the same with this book!
Let the world building happen and the story build because you know by 50% of the way through she throws in a huge plot twist so subtle that it had me going back and forth trying to figure it out!
I don’t want to put any spoilers or talk about the plot because any ounce of it will give it away, but just know DCI Julia is doing everything she can to find a missing girl while saving her daughter from a crime as well. It all starts to intermingle and you start questing every relationship! The ending, just WOW. I never saw it coming, and neither will you. So just sit back, and enjoy another Gillian masterpiece!
When I got an ARC of Gillian McCallister’s next mystery, I was so excited, but had no idea how she could top Wrong Place, Wrong Time, which completely blew me away. This was even more twisty, shocking, and compelling. I could not put it down and had to know what happened next to the characters that were so well formed.
The story begins with DCI Julia Day learning of another missing person, Olivia, who seems to have up and vanished after entering a dead end alley. The story jumps from different characters’ perspectives and the revelations they share keep you turning pages well into the night.
Preorder this one now!! 🤯 This title is released August 1st! Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for this Advanced Reader’s Copy in exchange for an honest review.
4.5⭐️
This book had me captivated from the start, I love a good missing persons thriller and this was so much more than just that. The twists had me gasping (and after seeing in Gillian’s author note that she’d rewritten them a few times, they were perfect!) and I really enjoyed the multiple povs that the story was told from. Gillian’s books always have me constantly thinking of different theories of what could’ve happened, and her writing style really allows the reader to be immersed in the story and like they’re figuring it out themselves. Overall this book was such a compelling read and I enjoyed every part of it!!
“A detective is thrown into a nightmare when the case of a young woman, whereabouts unknown for one day and counting, unravels deeper, darker secrets that hit too close to home. Suddenly, she is faced with a dilemma: there’s a man out there, and his weapon isn’t a gun, or a knife, it’s a secret. Her worst one. He issues an ultimatum which forces her to choose between everything she believes in – and her family’s safety.
Every day is one more day missing. What will she do...?”
Thank you to @netgalley, @williammorrowbooks and @gillianmauthor for the e-arc of this book, all opinions are my own.
Just Another Missing Person is a wild ride of a book that I would highly recommend!
When a young woman named Olivia goes missing, Detective Julia Day knows that the pressure is on to find her quickly. She and her team scour Olivia’s social media, camera footage from her last known whereabouts, and the flatshare she had recently moved into. But then Julia is blackmailed into placing evidence at the scene to frame a young man, and her race against time grows even more dire. She is determined to find zolivia before a young man is put away for a crime he may not have committed.
This story is told in multiple POVs, all of whom are parents involved in the investigation- Julia, Olivia’s father, and the young man’s mother. In both this book and McAllister’s prior book Wrong Place Wrong Time, there is an overlying theme of just how far a parent would go for their child. It is a theme I find fascinating as a mother myself. It is easy to discount the things these parents do in the name of protecting their child, and tough to think about what we would do in their shoes.
The story is engrossing, well written, and full of twists and turns. This one is a must read in my eyes!
Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was my first book by Gillian McAllister after hearing about her for a while and I thought it was really good!
There were multiple POVs which was a little confusing at first, but after reading a while I started being able to keep them straight.
I was a little under halfway through and I felt like I figured it out for the most part and I was mostly right until the very end there were a few big twists at the very end, the explanation for what happened was good...but slightly underwhelming. It's hard to explain that without giving a spoiler.
The book was definitely interesting and kept me intrigued the whole time. I enjoyed the way Gillian wrote and I never felt like there were any lulls or boring parts. She kept it moving pretty well throughout the whole story.
If you enjoy thriller/mysteries, you will probably really enjoy this. I'd give it 4,5 stars, but rounded up my stars to 5,
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Gillian McAllister for allowing me to read Just Another Missing Person for my honest review.
Thanks for the ARC! Loved this novel and was blown away by the twists. I appreciate the storytelling style and the movement of time through the novel. I definitely will recommend this to all my friends and family who love a good mystery thriller!
3.5 stars
I’m such a mood reader and I think that played into my overall feelings of this book, however, what I loved about this book were the unpredictable twist and turns. I love how fast paced and ramped up the ending was. The writing style & POV’s were a bit of a struggle for me. It took me a little bit to get an understanding of all the characters. It took me quite a while for the book to grab my attention which is what resulted in my 3.5 star rating. Thank you Netgalley & William Morrow Books for this EPub ARC
“Parenthood is beautiful, but hard, too. It’s tough to exist in the world when there is someone going about their business who you would die for.”
JUST ANOTHER MISSING PERSON is a wild ride. There’s a big twist in the middle and lots of little twists along the way, but that isn’t what I enjoyed most about this book. I loved it because Gillian McAllister writes so beautifully about the strong feelings of being a mother, particularly of young adults, and how you’d do absolutely anything for them, at any cost.
This book follows detective Julia Day as she works to find a 22-year-old woman who has disappeared without a trace. Olivia was seen on CCTV, entering a blind alley, but she never comes out again.
JUST ANOTHER MISSING PERSON is smart and well plotted. It’s a solid police procedural, but it’s filled with heart. I really enjoyed this one and recommend it to anyone who likes a good, plausible mystery with a heavy dash of motherhood, the difficulties of being a woman in the working world, and the difference between right and wrong.
Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow Books for an ARC of JUST ANOTHER MISSING PERSON and the opportunity to give my honest opinion.
Loved this! Every chapter had my mouth hanging open. The minute you think you've got it figured out, you don't. This comes out as one of my top faves this year.
What an addictive mind F*** of a book. And I loved it. I devoured it. I could NOT put it down! I thought I enjoyed Wrong Place Wrong Time, but this is SO MUCH MORE.
This is a brilliantly detailed and twisty thriller with all kinds of subplots and WOW moments. It amazes me how an author can write this kind of detailed masterpiece, there’s so much to keep straight and it feels like it was done effortlessly.
Gillian McAllister is quickly becoming an auto-buy author for me, I would highly recommend this read!!
Thank youuuuu @gillianmauthor and Netgalley for this advanced copy!!!!
Gillian McAllister has written another smart and interesting novel! Just like the last one, this story has a slow and confusing start but stick with her. She’s getting to it! All the red herrings come together at the end! It really makes you ask yourself what you’d do in Julia’s situation and a mother’s love is boundless! Thank you Net Galley for the ARC! I plan to put this one on the shelf right next to my copy of Wrong Place Wrong Time.
I loved Wrong Place, Wrong Time and was so excited to read this book. I’m happy to say it does not disappoint! Twisty and complex, it kept me guessing until the very end.

Oh my gosh?! Is it too soon to say this may be my favorite thriller of 2023? We are over halfway through the year but holy crap I don’t know if this one can be beat!
The story telling was absolute perfection! I loved all the twists and turns and misdirection even though you have no clue what’s going on even when you think you do, which is my kind of thriller.
The fact that I didn’t guess the ending even with the big reveal part way through the book, which I usually hate but it was so freaking well done the whole way through.
This isn’t going to be coherent at all because I want to say so much but don’t want to spoil a thing so I’ll just leave it at THIS IS A MUST READ THRILLER!!!!
Thank you so much William Morrow for my ARC of this one!!!
The beginning of this book was great. I was intrigued and I liked where the mystery was going. I had high hopes as wrong place wrong time wasn’t a favorite of mine. Then chapters begin being narrated by characters we aren’t even really introduced to. Their chapters are all so vague and unclear - the reader basically needs to figure them out for themselves. & while the twist is okay the many characters and puzzling chapters weren’t for me.
Well, she’s done it again! This is another dark and very well thought out thriller. Although the pace starts quite slowly (for this author!) it builds and when the twists do start coming, they seem to sock you in the jaw. This was a great read with great characters and had a totally twisted ending. Highly Recommended!!
Thank you NetGalley and William Morrow for allowing me to read this ARC in advance for my honest opinion.
This book had lots of twists and turns. Told in multiple points of views. Which at times I found it a bit confusing to follow. But overall it was a decent read.

"The things desperate men do for their daughters"
In Gillian MAllister's new thriller, the reader will come to question how far is too far when a parent protects his or her child. Three very different parents (Lewis, Julia and Emma) are all involved in a young woman's disappearance and work relentlessly to protect their own children's involvements. The many twists and turns throughout the novel will keep the reader speculating until the ending no one saw coming.
This novel also calls into question the integrity of those sworn to protect and serve counterbalanced by a personal need to do no harm to a family member
Gillian McAllister has created a strong cast of flawed characters struggling to justify their actions when a crime must be solved.
