Thank you NetGalley, Publishers, and Max and Monroe for gifting me a copy of Accidental Attachment in return for my honest opinion.
1.5/2 stars
Unfortunately, I am in the group of readers that could not get through this book, maybe it would have been better as an audiobook but since I received an ebook I could not get through it. DNF at the 40% mark.
I love Max Monroe, but overall this book was just meh for me. It felt like it was dragging on forever, and the characters felt too childish for their ages. There was simply no reason for this book to be as long as it was and I lost interest. Same Max Monroe humor as ever... and I think I've outgrown it :(
Honestly at this point I don't think there is a Max Monroe book I won't read. 10/5 every single time. I am a sucker for an author book and I love this one the most. I love the forced proximity even though they definitely didn't need it to kick start their feeling.
**Review: Accidental Attachment by Max Monroe**
⭐️⭐️½ (2.5 out of 5 stars)
*Accidental Attachment* by Max Monroe is a contemporary romance that brings humor and charm to the classic tale of love found in unexpected places. While the book has moments of wit and warmth, it ultimately falls short of delivering a fully satisfying reading experience.
The story follows [Protagonist's Name], a [brief description of protagonist] who accidentally sends a personal attachment to [Other Protagonist's Name], leading to a series of comedic and romantic entanglements. Monroe's trademark humor is evident throughout the narrative, providing light-hearted moments that are sure to make readers smile.
However, the novel struggles with pacing and character development. The plot, though entertaining, is predictable and lacks the depth needed to truly engage readers. The characters, while likable, often feel one-dimensional and fail to undergo significant growth or transformation. [Mention any specific characters or relationships that stand out, either positively or negatively].
Additionally, some of the humor and scenarios feel forced or clichéd, detracting from the overall charm of the story. The romantic tension between the protagonists, though present, lacks the intensity and emotional resonance that could have elevated the novel.
Despite these shortcomings, *Accidental Attachment* does offer a light and easy read, perfect for fans of contemporary romance looking for a quick escape. Monroe's witty dialogue and humorous situations provide enough entertainment to keep readers turning the pages, even if the story itself doesn't leave a lasting impression.
In summary, *Accidental Attachment* by Max Monroe earns 2.5 stars. It's a fun, breezy read with moments of humor and charm, but it ultimately falls short in plot depth and character development. For readers seeking a light-hearted romance with a few laughs, this book might still offer some enjoyment.
Accidental Attachement is the first book in the It's a Funny Story series. This book is about Brooke and Chase.
Brooke is a writer and Chase is her editor. When Brooke accidnetly submits a fan fiction book she was writing about Chase, Chase doesn't realize it's about him.
What happens when Chase finds out who the book is written after? Will the attachment come to life in a book? Will Chase and Brooke get their happy ending?
I am a fan of this duo’s writing. I can say I’m addicted to their comedic content, but this book didn’t live up to what I expect from them. It took me way to long to finish it because it’s too long. If they edited out the grossly repetitive mentions of how Brooke accidentally submitted a book about her secret crush on Chase, it would probably be a normal length book.
The execution of the story falls close but doesn't hit the mark for me, unfortunately. There was a lot of current reference to today's humor, situations, etc. and sometimes it felt like a lot.
Forced proximity and some secret keeping! A crush that develops into something more. A fun light-hearted read.
This was such a funny and sweet romcom. I first wanted to read the story because of the blurb but then I liked the main characters and was rooting for their HEA.
Accidental Attachment by Max Monroe is the perfect combination of romance and comedy! This novel has such an interesting premise; Brooke Baker, a famous author accidentally sends her editor, Chase Dawson, the not so safe for work book that she wrote. Chase loves the book and can’t wait to begin working on it, the thing is Brooke has a huge crush on Chase and wrote the book about him!
I enjoyed reading this book and appreciated the dedication that the authors had to giving each character a thorough and complete backstory. The interactions between Chase and Brooke were so much fun to read, especially as Chase is giving his all to make this book a success and Brooke wishes she double checked the attachment. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a slow burn, romance, and comedy.
Thank you to NetGalley and Max Monroe for this ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
So... the most important part has actually already been said in the synopsis - Brooke Baker, a successful author of paranormal novels and an upcoming Netflix series, is in love with her editor, who looks like her wet dream and more. She has to send to her publisher the promised sequel to the popular first book, but even she knows that the sequel is rubbish and not worth publishing at all, but the deadline is about to fall. So she grabs a couple of cups for encouragement, reads over the last chapter of her secret fanfiction, and sends off the first draft of her paranormal book to her editor. But it wasn't the first version of the paranormal book, it was her secret wet dream that she had put down on paper. The editor thinks it's a bit weird and not at all what was promised, but still goes to the publisher's meeting and sells the idea, putting his head and a new job on the line.
And if that's not enough to make Brooke's fainting problem worse, she also has to go on a cross-country tour promoting the Netflix series, and since she doesn't dare fly, she's rented a camper van, with Chase jumping behind the wheel so they can edit the new book one on the way
What follows is the classic sizzling story of would-be lovers put in a closed room, where the main part of the drama is that one party is lying/hiding something from the other party, and when it comes out, their future relationship is in big question. And to make the whole story hotter, chapters from Brooke's wet dream are interspersed between the main story.
This is not a book to listen to in public unless you're used to turning a stone face on while reading a book. :) A good change between crime books.
Hits send.cancel.Cancel.CANCEL.Your file has been delivered. OH SHHHHHHHHH¡T
Brooke is in for the biggest plot twist of her life when she accidently sends her new VERY attractive editor, Chase Dawson the wrong manuscript for her new book. WHOOPS! But it's too late now he loves it and she's far too booked up to stop the process. Scheduled to go on tour for her recent release, with Chase in tow, these two are in for a ride and possibly a love of a lifetime
Okay but why was this so perfect??
The chemistry, the banter, the humor, the quirkiness, the audio. All perfect!
Being instantly pulled in by that accidental fanfic attachment, The pages just kept turning with the intrigue getting higher and higher the farther into the story I got
Getting to know these characters personalities in a forced proximity really has you connecting with them in such a way, there's no way you won't be rooting for their happily ever after the entire way
CJ Bloom really grasped ahold of Brookes quirky personality and made it her own while Joe Arden brought the hotness and swoon worthy Chase to life.(I promise I'm not just using you for your sexy voice Joe...eh scratch that, that's a lie yes, yes I am) But these two really had you laughing out loud one minute and tearing up the next while simultaneously just falling in love with this plot and characters all around
A huge thank you to @MaxMonroe and @netgalley for NOT accidently sending me an advanced readers copy and advanced listeners copy in exchange for my honost thoughts and opinions
I am loving this series so much! Max Monroe is a great writer and the stories are so well done. I can't wait for more!
It's very rare that I read a book that feels like a new plot. I loved how this was basically a book in a book. Lots of laugh out moments and an adorable sidekick in the mix made this one really good. This is what you expect with this author and it didn't disappoint!
"Accidental Attachment" by Max Monroe tells the adorable story of Brooke, a fantasy writer, who, in a moment of drunken disappointment, accidentally sends her personal manuscript to her editor, Chase, instead of the intended work. To her surprise, Chase loves it and rushes it through for immediate publication, leading to an unexpected turn of events.
As they navigate a tight deadline, Brooke and Chase end up sharing an RV during her book tour. This proximity not only aids the editing process but also sparks positive changes in Brooke's crush on Chase and helps manage her stress-induced chronic condition. Despite their close working relationship, they keep things professional until the end of the tour, where a romantic connection blossoms. Chase stands out as Brooke's unwavering cheerleader, expressing admiration both internally and openly. While the potential benefit for Chase is there, their relationship feels genuine, and the story is a delightful exploration of unexpected connections and professional-turned-personal dynamics.
Accidental Attachment is a sweet and cheesy romance from author Max Monroe.
This is a very cheesy- and at times too cheesy of a romance. I related to Brooke and her struggle to feel proud of her accomplishments. However, it was really hard for me to like Chase, the male MMC, even when got his perspective.
Overall this was cute, but the lack of connection I felt to Chase made it hard to really enjoy it.
Unfortunately this read was too much of a slow burn for my taste. I really did want to love this story but i DNFed around the 40% mark because it felt like not much was happening.
This was a pretty average romcom in my opinion. Some of this duo's earlier books are much funnier and more entertaining, but it certainly wasn't terrible.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy of Accidental Attachment by Max Monroe.
Unfortunately, this is a DNF for me. I can appreciate the humor (and I often see that complimented on reviews for Max Monroe books), which was very well done. However, the story felt much too dense for its genre, and the length was daunting. Accidental Attachment just didn't move fast enough for me to care to see the story through. Usually I give 1 star for books that I DNF, but gave an extra star in this case due to the fact that I laughed out loud a few times before getting bogged down.
I loved this book!! It was hilarious from the beginning and I flew through it. Max Monroe always has the best characters and I love reading about their antics. It was also fun and spicy. This book made me want to check out their others!
