Accidental Attachment added so much humor to my morning commute with this fantastic audiobook!
Brooke is an author lusting for her editor, Chase. When she has too much wine, she accidentally sends him a steamy romance book based on the two of them instead of the follow up book she was contracted to write. Chase loves the book and tells the publisher it will be a huge hit after edits, and the pair must now work together to revamp the sexy scenes Brooke wrote. At the same time, she has to go on tour for the Netflix show based on her book. Chase offers to drive her, and off they go for some nice forced proximity.
The narrators did a superb job, and their tones were just perfect for what they were reading. The wry tones, the anxious notes, all of it was done so well. I’m pretty sure I would listen to the male narrator read me the dictionary though, he has a fantastic voice for audio!
The story itself has so many humorous moments that had me cackling in the car. There are some steamy scenes and some gross ones where vomit is described a bit too much. I enjoyed the premise, even though there was a miscommunication subtrope and I usually am not a fan of those. The reasoning behind the third act fight seemed realistic, but could have easily been resolved with some dang communication.
Thank you to NetGalley and Max Monroe LLC for the ALC in exchange for my honest opinion!
Just okay. I wanted more from the plot and the romance overall. The main characters seemed too peppy for me, they didn't compliment each other in any way.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this!
This was a fun story and had a great storyline i just felt like it dragged on a little too much in the middle, but it was fun! Brooke was a little frustrating at times and i wish she would have told Chase the truth about the book a little sooner, but overall i had a fun time!
Super cute rom com! I’d recommend if you’d like to read two cute perfect people fall in love.
Tropes:
-Workplace
-forced proximity
-road trip
-“protect the friendship”
-mutual pining
-Dog as a personified main character
Thank you for NetGalley and Max Monroe for this ALC!
Content: I really enjoyed how sweet and cute these two were. They are a tad two perfect which left me kind of like okay what’s the real obstacle here but sometimes you’re in the mood for those kind of low stakes. I felt like each plot point was pretty random. Tension can’t really build if you don’t have anything to anticipate, it’s a bit of time jumps and scenes. I didn’t mind most of the rom com aspects, the comedy didn’t feel too forced but there was one moment around 80% that was so unsexy and random I don’t understand why it was necessary. Overall though Chase is a wonderful hero.
Narration: Unfortunately the voice acting for Brooke is borderline overacting. I felt like on page Brooke is a pretty level headed heroine, someone who has been through some life changes and success and is looking for what’s next. The way it’s acted is so neurotic, even reading the day’s date is breathy and sassy. And the imitation of Chase is not attractive or enticing as it’s should be. The voice acting for Chase was great.
Brooke is quickly approaching her deadline for her next paranormal book, and her manuscript is awful. To combat her writers block, she has been writing a fan fiction novel about her new, dreamy editor, Chase. With her new book due, she accidentally sends him her spicy novel instead of the paranormal book they were expecting. The problem is, her editor loves it, and has convinced the publisher to green-light the project. Can Brooke handle the process of revising a book about her editor?
I am so glad I read another Max Monroe book! This was filled with employer/employee attraction, forced-proximity, and endless witty banter.
Brooke has a heart condition very similar to the heart condition I have, which was so nice to see. I haven’t ever seen it described in a book, and I was glad to see it getting some attention.
I did have a problem with one scene where her service dog, Benji, was pulling on his leash while a walk in the park. I don’t personally have a service dog, but it is my understanding that service dogs wouldn’t do this.
Joe Arden has me in a chokehold, and I will listen to just about anything her narrates.
Overall, I loved the story and the connection the main characters had. Would recommend.
Accidental Attachment was a cleaver, witty, love filled read. I wanted to love this book, but I just didn't. The story revolved around the main character Brooke who accidentally submits the wrong book to her handsome editor Chase. Little does Chase know, the entire book is written on the premise that he is the main character and Brooke is his love interest. The storyline offers laughs, love and a happy ending. I really wanted to like this book but I had a difficult time becoming attached to the characters. The narration provided compliment to the story and I appreciated that there was a man and a women representing each character. Overall a decent read, just wasn't for me.
Accidental Attachment by Max Monroe
When Brooke, a super successful writer accidentally sends the wrong manuscript to her extremely dreamy editor, Chase, he loves it! What could go wrong with that? The manuscript is her fan fiction about her crush- him. Now Brooke is traveling the country in an RV with Chase to do a tour for Netflix and finish the edits so her book can be published.
This steamy slow burn was great! Accidental Attachment has all of the signature Max Monroe humor I love. I think it might be the first slow burn I have read from them, but the wait was totally worth it. This is a long one- definitely more than one sitting! The audio was great and I definitely found myself laughing out loud at this low angst romcom.
Thank you NetGalley and Max Monroe for the audiobook of Accidental Attachment in exchange for my honest review.

Silly romance with a silly female. I liked the story but didn’t like the FMC. I listen to audiobooks all day long and I wanted to listen to this one. I first want to say that I LOVE MAX MONROE! Love! But this one wasn’t for me. I don’t care for over-the-top females. She was a hot mess and annoying to me. And I didn’t care for the female narrator either. Just me and I’m definitely going to keep reading their books!
Thanks Max Monroe LLC via NetGalley. And thanks Rick for sharing! I get so excited every time I hear from you!
What a fantastic book! Well written, hilarious and so good! The narrators also did a fantastic job as well. I laughed, loved the steamy chemistry between Chase and Brooke. I’d listen to this a second time it was so great! I’ll definitely be checking out more from Max Monroe.
Joe Arden and CJ bloom do such a great job narrating this one!
We have Brooke who is an author and huge fan of Dolly Parton. Brooke accidentally sends her editor (and crush) a draft of a story about her fantasy of them together. Of course the names are changed so he doesn’t know it wasn’t intentional. As they edit this new book, they also have to go on a book tour all over the US. There was a lot of funny inner monologues, but a little slow with plot.
Super slow burn 🔥
I loved this book!! I really liked all the characters and the banter between the love interests. I became so invested in their love story and really enjoyed the ending. Im looking forward to the next book which i believe is hinted at in the epilogue!
Thank you NetGalley and Max Monroe for this ALC!
This was my first Max Monroe novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Be warned: this is a SLOW burn. I was getting antsy waiting for action between Brooke and Chase, but boy, when it finally happened, there were fireworks! The third act breakup - though not my favorite - felt reasonable with this story line.
Chase was a cinnamon roll. I would like to place an order for a Chase of my own, thank you very much. Might mess around and write a book about my crush. 😂
-slow burn
-friends to lovers
-workplace forbidden (kinda LOL)
-forced proximity
Thanks to the publisher for giving me an ARC of the audiobook. This was a super fun rom-com and I had a really great time with it. I loved the build-up and the sweet moments with them getting to know each other, although I wish we’d gotten more time with them together but they broke up. The third-act breakup felt a little out of nowhere and I felt like the MMC was being a little unreasonable. All in all, I think this was a good summer read. I’d recommend this to fans of The Dead Romantic by Ashley Poston and any Christina Lauren books.
I can't take the smile off my face! This duo author team really outdid themselves! Such a quirky, funny, sweet, romantic book! Both narrators were EXCELLENT!
Brooke is absolutely neurotic in the best kind of way! The stuff she would say in her head and out of her mouth was some of the cringiest, yet most endearing things I've ever heard. She constantly had me laughing out loud at the outlandish things her mind would think up!
One of the main characters in this book was Brooke's emotional support dog, Benji, and their relationship was a primary and important storyline in this book. Bless that dog and his ability to put up with Brooke! The random, crazy conversations she had with him throughout the book are next level! He's such a good boy and deserved such a starring role in this story.
Then there's Chase. Bless Chase (and the narrator, Joe Arden) and his Southern drawl! The book was written in dual POV and thank goodness for it! The things that Chase thought and said and hearing it from his POV... thank you for that, ladies! The way he cared for Brooke and never wavered, even knowing about her medical condition, was truly heart-warming. It was impossible not to root for them the whole time.
This was a longer audiobook than most, but I was invested from start to finish! Thank you, Max Monroe and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Loved this book! Devoured in one sitting. Loved the dynamic and the flow of the story. Thanks for the ARC audio!
First of all, this was my first Max Monroe book and it will not be my last. I have every intention of digging into their backlist!
Brooke Baker is a well known and published author about to start a tour to promote her first book series being released as a TV series. But first, she has to submit a draft copy of her newest novel to her editor, Chase Dawson. Funny story though... Brooke has been in love with Chase since the day she met him. So much so, that she wrote a book about the two of them and their workplace romance - and man if it isn't steamy! While Brooke never intends for Accidental Attachment to see the light of day, but her wine consumption has her brain doing weird things. Instead of submitting the draft for the book she knows is horrible, she accidentally attaches the story of Clive and River (aka Chase and Brooke).
Fast forward to her meeting with Chase. He's raving about how amazing her new book is, the success he knows it can and wants it to have and how he's going to have to pitch to the other editors the idea of publishing this one versus the initial title she had a deal for. Brooke is confused... until Chase says the book's title. Accidental Attachment. Brooke nearly passes out and she's beyond mortified that anyone has read this book let alone the man she's fantasized about while writing it and has no idea the lead male character is based on him. Publishing this book means they'll be on a huge time crunch to get edits and changes made and since Brooke is leaving for her tour that can only mean one thing.
Chase Dawson is coming on tour with her. Living in a motorhome with her for weeks. Tight quarters for two people and a pup for a few weeks... Of course, they begin to grow close and the possibility of everything Clive and River have is looking like it could become a reality for Chase and Brooke.
I loved this title. Brooke's awkward and quirkiness were amazing. It was incredibly comical, I laughed out loud several times while reading. Chase is like literally the perfect man. And let's not forget the star of the show, Brooke's super hero pup, Benji!
The audio for Accidental Attachment is fantastic, CJ Bloom and Joe Arden knocked it out of the park. But I mean... my personal opinion is that Joe Arden could read the phone book and I'd listen.
Thank you so much Max Monroe and NetGalley for this ALC in exchange for my honest review.
This book was SOOOO GOOD! Awesome narration and MC’s! The story flowed well, and was easy to follow. Shout out to Netgalley and publishing for allowing me to listen and review this book!
4 STARS!

Brooke Baker is an author that is struggling from a major case of writer’s block. Her most recent series has been a major success, even being picked up by Netflix to be made into a TV show. Unfortunately, she is struggling to continue writing the series so she’s been avoiding it entirely…by writing a book about her new sexy editor, Chase Dawson. No one was ever supposed to see the book and she’s changed the name of the characters. But instead of submitting a copy of her latest novel, she emails Chase the romance novel she’s written about him. To make matters even worse, he loves it and wants to make it her next published book.
Brooke is absolutely mortified but can’t bring herself to tell Chase the truth. And Chase is so determined to make sure this book is a huge success, that he agrees to drive her around in a motor home for a promotional tour for her Netflix series just so they can work on it. While working together on this new book, Brooke and Chase begin to grow closer and Brooke’s fantasies she’s been writing about just might start to become reality.
This was my first book by Max Monroe and it definitely won’t be my last. I loved Brooke and Chase and found both characters relatable in different ways. They had some really great chemistry and the banter was so humorous. I also loved Brooke’s superhero service dog, Benji, for her vasovagal syncope. It added so much fun and quirkiness to the storyline and made for some really funny moments.
I did listen to this on audio and CJ Bloom and Joe Arden were so good! But in my opinion, you can never go wrong with Joe Arden. Both did a great job and really made it such an enjoyable and fun read.

Thank you NetGalley and Max Monroe for the opportunity to listen this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I started reading this book and could tell right away it wasn't for me. It wasn't that the writing was bad - it's mostly the genre. I like romances with humor, but full on RomCom isn't my thing. If Netgalley didn't force it, I wouldn't rate it, as I don't think it's fair when I read so little of the book.
I LOVED this book! Brooke's internal dialogue had by belly laughing in the beginning and the book just got better and better. After I read the book, I listened to the audio, which made it all even better. Another amazing read from Max Monroe. Oh, and can we talk about that cover too?? Beautiful!
