It's been a few days since I finished this book, but I really needed to take a step back to give a truthful review.

While reading the synopsis and the premise of this book, I really thought this would be up my alley, unfortunately, it wasn't, it's just a perfectly fine book, but nothing ground-breaking or remarkable about it.
The plot is nice and well-executed, the writing style is really enjoyable and the characters are likable, but I couldn't, for the life of me, get past the unprofessionalism of the MCs, from both parts, it gave me the ick from the start to finish.

In theory, this is the perfect mix, and I guess this book could be appreciated by many who, like me, enjoy tropes such as:
📚 workplace romance where the lines between what's professional and personal blur (quite a lot)
📚 classic chick.-lit comedy
📚 all-around perfect male MC, the perfect book-boyfriend™️
📚 forced proximity
📚 disability, or rather, chronic disease/syndrome rep

The FMC reminded me of Dante Alighieri and his fainting spells in the Divina Commedia, and it was quite fun to read about.

I absolutely loved this book and the narrators nailed the audiobook! The tension between the characters was strong, the spice was tantalizing and the story line a lot of fun. The character development kept me intrigued and left me wanting for more; it was difficult to stop listening.

It was nice to have a Rom Com read that wasn't so filled with conflict that you become frustrated with the characters. I really enjoyed all of the pop culture references throughout the book as it made it relatable.

Chase and Brooke were wonderful companions during my work commute and during my work day. This was my first Max Monroe read, but it certainly will not be the last.

A light-hearted rom-com with forced proximity and light spice.

If you're looking for a feel-good beach read, look not further than Accidental Attachment. The story centers on Brooke, a best-selling author who is in a writing rut and gets through it by writing a spicy book starring herself and her handsome editor. Instead of sending through the book she was contracted to write, she send her spicy book as an ACCIDENT ATTACHMENT (get it!?). The handsome, but clueless, editor doesn't know that the book is starring him and Brooke and puts his job on the line to get it published. From there the relationship grows from professional (ish), to friendly, to love.

I like the disability representation for Brooke, who needs a service dog and that Brooke has supportive friends/family beyond just her romantic relationship. The banter is funny and light hearted, and while you need to wait until 80% to get to the light-spice, the pacing is quick.

There are a few allusions to men's and women's roles though out the book that made me furrow my brow, one was about how husbands respond when a wife asks them if their butt looks big in the jeans, or something like that, a few others about masculinity/femininity that took me out of the book.

The narration was 100% on point. I recommend the audiobook if you're into reading your books this way. If you love romance, you'll recognize the voices of both CJ Bloom and Joe Arden from many of your other favourite reads.

Thank you to NetGalley and Max Monroe for this advanced listener copy.

This book is best listened to in the car while driving across the country with your crush.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (0-5)
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 (0-5) (possibly 3 1/2 or 4 for self-pleasuring)
Audiobook: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧 (0-5) The narration is perfection!

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 1st person, dual POV and perfectly matched narrators.
🤩 Benji, the service dog, is an amazing best friend and caretaker.
🤩 “Click. Click. Sent.” Romcom goodness. The blurb/plot/story is amazing.
🤩 FMC Brooke is a novelist/writer. MMC Chase is a hot AF editor, her editor.
🤩 Honest disability representation, vasovagal syncope.
🤩 Honest, real-life representation of period issues and other human body problems.
🤩 So much comedy in this super slow burn romcom. I love a feel-good romance.
🤩 Close proximity in a MOTORHOME. Yes, please!
🤩 Cross-country adventures.
🤩 That first, sweet hug. Lots of sweet hugs.
🤩 They take care of each other.
🤩 Shower scene lovers—you are in so much luck!
🤩 And towel scenes, too!
🤩 The steam is delicious once it gets steamy. During dancing in LasVegas: “The music is heavy with need. And so is my vagina.”

What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About:
💫 Vomit talk. I have puke anxiety and don’t love it in my books.
💫 It really rubs me the wrong way when Chase doesn’t listen to Brooke and walks away, and then doesn’t grovel for it later.
💫 Such a missed opportunity for a fitting and cute illustrated cover with romcom vibes and Benji.

What I’m Wondering:
🤔 Will Sammy and Noah get a story?

Accidental Attachment is the story of a romance author who accidentally attaches the wrong novel in her email to her editor. Instead of her usual paranormal, she sends the romance book she's been writing about her crush... her editor. He's oblivious to her crush. So two months in close proximity, working on a sizzling manuscript with him, written with him in mind.... peace of cake, right?

I loved the idea of this story, so I am sad to say it, but unfortunately this story didn't quite work for me. I enjoyed the MC's for the most part. Brooke quirky. Chase a big ol' cinnamon roll. And while there were moments I enjoyed, that made me laugh, I didn't feel their connection like I hoped. For it being SUCH a slow burn, I wanted more tension and longing. I adore this author's writing but this one felt too long. I just didn't feel the romance ultimately. Will definitely continue to read this great duo in the future though!

Accidental Attachment is a perfect balance of quirky humor and sweet romance. Every time I pick up a Max Monroe novel, I know I will be giggling out loud and picturing the character as a real person, since they have a way of making their characters seem real while still living in a fantasy world. The story kicks off with Brooke, a successful author, tipsily submitting her fantasy romance of a novel to her editor instead of the promised next book in her already successful series. When her editor, Chase, ends up loving the book and pushing for it to be published no matter the hurdle, their relationship takes a turn by putting them on a promotional road trip and in close quarters for 3 tension building, sight seeing, and silly costumes on a dog (or Brooke) filled weeks. I loved the relationship between Brooke and her bestie/sidekick Benji and thought Chase seemed like a down to earth dreamy guy (who loves to read!!). The development of their relationship was a strong blend of mixed signals and genuine appreciation of one another. The side characters really support the main characters and bring a fun dynamic to the storyline. This new story by Max Monroe will definitely increase your 'attachment' to their style of romantic comedy.

What an absolute gem! This book was quite simply a feel good read. It had a clever plot line, characters that you couldn't help but love, some incredibly witty banter and laugh out loud inner dialogue.

Brooke Baker is a successful author who has hit a bit of a struggle with the next book she's supposed to be finishing for her successful series. When she accidentally sends the wrong file to her editor, all the crazy fun begins because this file contains her secret musings where she imagines a fantasy relationship between herself and Chase Dawson (her editor). Of course, the characters in Brooke's book obviously have different names and careers so Chase doesn't pick up on the similarities. In fact, Chase is so taken with the manuscript that he doesn't even care that Brooke didn't turn in the right book because this one is so good. As he campaigns with upper management to get it published, Brooke is horrified that her inner most fantasies are going to be put into print.

Over time, the two are thrown together to work on the book edits and their attraction obviously starts to build. Well, Brooke's is already there - - hence the book - - but Chase finds himself unable to resist Brooke after a while. Let's just say, things get interesting.

I was fortunate enough to receive early copies of both the e-book and audiobook which is always a win for me. I enjoy being able to go back and forth between the two types of media. It's possible the book may have been a bit longer than was truly needed, but I didn't care. I was so invested in the outcome that I flew through it.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW:: The narrators were chef's kiss. In ways, I think I may have enjoyed the audio even more than the e-book because it was so much fun to listen to Brooke being snarky and witty. I truly laughed out loud so many times. 5 stars

Thank you to NetGalley for both the early copies of the ebook and audiobook. I voluntarily chose to review them and the opinions contained within are my own.

This audiobook listen is just as good as the book. Both narrators performed their narration well. Although, CJ Bloom talks at a fast pace - not how I picture Brook at all. Similar to the book, Brooke Baker & Chase Dawson - I think they are my new BFF’s - are real & authentic. They bring the best out of one another without ever knowing they really do so. CJ Bloom & Joe Arden bring to life everything that happens in the book - every crazy moment, outrageous thought, inner monologue and more for the listener. And just like the book - there is absolutely nothing accidental about their attachment. Best of the Max Monroe books I have read & listened to - this is an absolute must listen!

Hilarious rom com by the fantastic Max Monroe. As always, I was super impressed with both CJ bloom and Joe Arden who so effortlessly brought this story to life. Overall this was a terrific slow burn office/workplace romance with lighthearted comedy sprinkled throughout.

Chemistry was great between Brook and Chase and the side characters were some fun additions that brought even more laughs. Book tour/forced proximity in motor home. Solo shower scenes, hot and all types of spicy.
“It’s just a hug, not an invitation to touch his penis” it’s full of fun easy going laughs. Non-stop giggles from the start. A light-hearted fun read.

I got two copies of this book from NetGalley. I got the audiobook and ebook versions. I tried both but found the ebook to be way less cringey and easier to get through more of it.

I was so excited to get this book, but 10% in I knew it wasn't for me. Chase and Brooke seem like they are well suited cause they are both so delusional. Brooke talks so much about wine that I was genuinely concerned for her. The shining part of this book was Benji, Brooke's service dog, that she dresses up like superheroes - I would read a whole book about Benji, but I didn't care anything about the stakes for the rest of the book.
The main plot of this book stems from a mix-up that Brooke takes no efforts to correct. I get anxiety, and I empathized with her struggle of having to work closely with someone you have a crush on, but at no point in this book did I want Brooke and Chase to end up together, so I DNF'd about 50% through so it it wildly pivots and gets better I wouldn't know.

Accidental Attachment was such a fun slow burn read!

Brooke was adorable and quirky and just awkward enough you can laugh along with her at her antics. Chase was perfectly sweet and just the perfect guy for Brooke. When her crush leads to her writing a book and accidentally turning it in turns into a road trip in an RV with just the two of them a great adventure begins! Throughout it all you will cheer for Brooke and Chase as a couple. Great feel good story!

I listed to this audio and Joe Arden & CJ Bloom did such a great job narrating!

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the ALC copy.

OVERALL: Lawd! That was a long one! LOL

I am ridiculously happy that Max Monroe LLC via NetGalley afforded me the opportunity to experience this ridiculously fun and quirky romance full of laughter and spark and heart!! I really enjoyed this but I have to be honest here and say that had I been reading this story, it might have taken me way longer than it did listening to it. How much longer, who’s to say, but it wouldn’t have taken me mere days to finish :) do with that information what you will :)

PERFORMANCE: I’ve always enjoyed listening to Joe Arden narrate a story in the past, however, the last few listening experiences I’ve had with him as the narrator have been very rushed. It’s like he’s speed talking his way thru the story and that’s especially twitchy to me when there’s any inner monologue (which there is a lot of in this story). It’s just frustrating for me and really decreases my enjoyment of the audiobook. Accidental Attachment is a 13-hour story that tested me but the enjoyment from the storyline got me thru :)
CJ Bloom brought Brooke to life for me perfectly and did an exceptional job with all her voices throughout the story!

STORY: I’d love to say that this is a story deserving of its almost 600 pages and/or 13-hour audio, but it really isn’t. I’m not a fan of adding plot points or circumstances into a story that don’t move a story forward or (and this one makes me super twitchy) inner monologues and descriptive texts that seem to go ooooooooonnnn and on and when you get to the end of them you realize it all could have been conveyed in three sentences. That’s an off-the-cuff example of what happened in this book way too many times, in my opinion. And you know what happens when I encounter too much of this ….. yeah, skip/skim begins *sigh*

But here’s the thing, this was a super cute story and even though I admittedly did skip forward on more than a few but less than a lot, occasions, I enjoyed it overall! I KNOW, super bizarre but it is what it is.

✔️ unique storyline you don’t see often
✔️ perfect tropes matching the characters and what they would need (because of their personalities) to break thru the quirky and have a relationship
✔️ low on the angst meter and high on the humor meter
✔️ friendship development, which again fits perfectly with their personalities (on the flipside of this thought is that the romance took a backseat (or it felt under focused to me) and I honestly connected them more as good friends as opposed to romantic friends …
✔️ On the flip side of the above bullet point is that slow burn is actually the only way these two would have worked in my opinion and when they did get steamy with each other, they got steamy! *wink*
✔️ Benji … I mean … #cuteness personified!

Okay, so I could go on and on and list a whole bunch of other circumstances in this story but then why the heck would you read your own copy if I did that lol, so enough about all that! If you don’t mind your stories on the lengthy side and like romantic comedies, this might just be a fit for you! Go forth and enjoy!

After not getting a new Max Monroe book for a while, they treated us with lengthy slow burn that will of course have you laughing the entire time. I love that both characters were fun loving and a bit quirky. Our hero was more cinnamon roll than alpha and it really made for a sweet story. How can you not love Brooke!? She drinks a bit too much alcohol and sends her fan fic type story about her and her editor to none other than her editor! The best part? Chase doesn’t pick up on that but he absolutely loves it and encourages the publishing of this book vs the one she was supposed to work on. When Brooke has to go on a netflix tour, Chase volunteers to drive the bus so that they can make their deadline for the book.

There are lots of funny and awkward moments. They both are bit smitten with each other but trying to completely hide it which adds to the awkwardness. Brooke has a medical condition that has her with a service dog and I loved how much that played a part in the story. The slow burn on this is the slowwwwest I have ever read from Max Monroe. If you are looking for an insta-love story, then this isn’t it. But if you like a slow burn with a build up throughout the story and lots of sweet and swoony moments then you will not be disappointed.

The audiobook for this was fantastic! I wasn’t going to sign up for the audiobook but once I saw the narrators, I knew I would love it. CJ Bloom and Joe Arden did a fantastic job. They made this longer book seem not long enough. They brought these fun characters to life gave them all the personality that you would expect from Max Monroe characters.

Really enjoyed this book. I was not sure what to expect as this was my first time reading a book from this author but I really loved it and highly recommend it.

Accidental Attachment is a hilarious, swoon-worthy, un-put-a-downable read. I wanted to ignore all of my responsibilities and just listen to this audiobook non-stop.
This is the story of Brooke Baker, who is an author, a bit of a recluse, hilarious, big-hearted woman who is under contract to write another fantasy novel that she has finished... but she describes it as complete garbage. On the night of her deadline, she switches over to the other work-in-progress that she works on whenever she can't stand working on her book that's due, which is a lot. This book will never see the light of day and is just for her. It is a romance book about her new hot editor, Chase Dawson. She drinks several glasses of wine and, right before midnight, sends her book into her editor. She waits to hear about how awful her book is and await her fate.
Then she meets with Chase to find he loves her book. He will fight for the change in genre and stands behind her and it. Then she realizes she accidentally sent the wrong book. Then they end up having to go on a tour for her other books being turned into a Netflix series. What ensues is hilarious, has amazing banter, is hot and heartfelt perfection. I cannot recommend this one enough!

Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to listen to this ARC in order to give an honest review.

I’ve only read a few other books by Max Monroe, but this one was the best I’ve read from them. It had a quirky, sassy, self deprecating FMC who was more relatable than I’d like to admit. Haha. And a charming sweet cinnamon roll hero. If that wasn’t enough there was Benji the super hero costume wearing doggy.

The epilogue seems to hint at there being a series, and I’d be ecstatic if that was the case. It’s truly a rom com not to miss. Plus if you listen to the audiobook the narrators are amazing!

The premise of this captured my interest immediately. An established author (Brooke) means to send her editor (Chase) the manuscript for follow-up to her latest hit novel, but instead she sends him a super steamy fan fic she wrote about herself and Chase. Long story short, they end up on a two month road trip together (along with Brooke's super hero service dog) while Brooke promotes her newest release and works on the edits for the never-supposed-to-see-the-light-of-day manuscript that Chase doesn't know is about him.

This was a slllllloooooowww burn, but every bit as funny and quirky as you'd expect from these authors with a setup like that. This one isn't overly angsty or even especially spicy. It's an easy, light-hearted rom-com with easy to like characters and plenty of laughs.

I listened to this one on audio (at about 2x), and would definitely recommend that format.

This is a great standalone. If you're familiar with the Max Monroe universe then there are some bounce in your seat Easter eggs, but you don't have to have read any other book to fully enjoy this story.

Brooke is a writer at the top of her game. Her book series is a best seller and Netflix is about to launch a series based on them. She's on deadline for her newest manuscript but she's struggling to feel it. But she's on a deadline so she hits send and moves on.

Chase is Brooke's editor and he's loving the new manuscript. It isn't anything near what she was supposed to send him, but he thinks the world needs this book. This leads him to do whatever he needs to do to make this book a reality, even volunteering to go on tour with Brooke leading up to her Netflix red carpet day.

The things that further complicate this plan:
- Brooke doesn't want to release the new book, no one was supposed to know it exists because it's all about her secret crush on Chase.
- Brooke has a condition that leads to unplanned unconsciousness and requires a service dog. Her and planes don't mix so the tour has to happen by motor home.
- Both Brooke and Chase have some relationship baggage.
- Did I mention Chase is her editor???
- Slow burning attraction and tension. There are some *moments* shall we say throughout the book (both in reality and in the manuscript) that provide steam and spice, but our couple doesn't make things a reality until quite a bit further than I'm used to with this author.

The audiobook was performed by CJ Bloom and Joe Arden and they did not disappoint.
CJ is just perfection delivering all the manic and panic laden inner thoughts of Brooke. Her random plans and decent into chaos is so much fun. The second hand embarrassment I feel listening to all the craziness this woman has to go through is exactly the humor I expect from Max Monroe and CJ is a pro at making me feel it with her. The racing heart, the "OMG what do I do know" moments, the emotional bottom when the rug is pulled out from under her... I was right there with her every step of the way.
Joe was a perfect straight man through most of the book. There were a few moments of oddity and reaction to the crazy that is Brooke Baker, but he was right there being supportive and caring and protective all the way (with a slight southern twang no less *swoon*).
They both gutted me with their emotional performances and I cheered with all my heart when they found their way back to happily ever after.

I requested and was provided with an advanced copy of the audiobook. These are my honest opinions.

Happy Pub Day to Accidental Attachment by Max Monroe

This was a funny rom-com about a successful writer, Brooke Baker, who accidentally attached the wrong manuscript to her editor, Chase Dawson. The manuscript she attached was a steamy romance written about two characters meant to be Brooke and Chase because she always fantasized about Chase. She doesn’t have a chance to share her error because Chase loves the manuscript and tells his boss about it. There is a super quick deadline for the edits, so Chase ends up being the R, so Chase ends up being the RV driver so Brooke can travel to her events for her upcoming Netflix book series releasing soon.

Accidental Attachment was refreshing and entertaining. I enjoyed the audiobook and the narration by CJ Bloom and Joe Arden.

Thank you, Max Monroe and @NetGalley, for my gifted ALC.
