Sassy, sweet and utterly hilarious, Accidental Attachment is officially a hit.
With awesome characters, a captivating plot and the ultimate meet-cute turned HEA, this book had me swooning (without the aid of a medical condition). Proving that sometimes two wrongs CAN make a right, Brooke and Chase's comedy of errors, fumbles and bathroom squirrel attacks is the perfect cure for the Monday blues, Tuesday feels, and hump day hurdles all in one package.
A special mention goes out to MVP narrators CJ Bloom and Joe Arden for their incredible performance, breathing life and laughter into these characters fabulous characters, making this hilarious, lighthearted and so meta rom com better than my wildest dreams.
5 stars and a canine sidekick
Brooke, a successful author, makes a boo boo by sending her new, good looking editor the wrong manuscript. Instead of the paranormal book he was expecting from her, she sends him the explicit story she's written between him and her, though with different names thankfully! Chase, Brooke's new editor can't believe how hot the book is throwing his support behind her new project. But as the edits keep going, the two grow closer and Brooke knows she's going to have to come clean.
This was a sweet read with some really funny moments thrown in. Both narrators did an exceptional job, bringing their characters to life. I loved listening to them both. This was my first Max Monroe book but it definitely won't be my last.
Witty, charming, and with quite a few laugh-out-loud moments, "Accidental Attachment" was a breath of fresh air.
I loved Brooke's humor and her heart. Brooke is self-deprecating, clever, funny, and a tad insecure. She was dynamic in her complexity and utterly relatable. I also live with a chronic condition, and seeing how Brooke approaches her Syncope along with Benji-her superhero of a dog-made me relate to her character on a level that I don't usually find with most fictional characters (or even real people). I also really liked how much vulnerability Brooke has in wearing her heart on her sleeve. She loves without reservation and I found that to be absolutely endearing.
Our hero of the story, Chase Dawson, was a great character. He was vulnerable and kind and I loved his admiration of Brooke as an author and as a woman.
One of my favorite parts of the story took place toward the end and pulled a few tears from this readers eyes-I was not expecting that for a rom com, but that goes to show how great this story was at getting to the heart of these characters.
I hope that Sam-Brooke's sister-is the star of the next book! I loved her and Brooke's relationship and how they supported one another when they were in their own arduous situations.
If you like a contemporary romance with mutual pining, close proximity, a unique heroine, a hero who appreciates all aspects of the heroine's personality, and a wonderful canine sidekick who has a superhero wardrobe to envy, then this just may be the book for you!
Note regarding the audiobook: The audiobook was narrated by CJ Bloom and Joe Arden. They did a fantastic job and I would read a book narrated by them any day-it is hard to find audiobook narrators that flow well and exude the personalities of the characters they are reading while keeping the reader 100% engaged.
I read and reviewed an advanced copy of this audiobook thanks to Max Monroe via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

When you open up a Max Monroe book, you know that you are in for so many laughs. And this was no different.
Brooke has had a crush on her editor Chase since she met him. So what does any sane person with a crush do? They write a book about their fictional romance. And then during a wine induced mindset, they send it off to said editor instead of the book that they are supposed to turn in. And then naturally that book is so well received by their editor that said editor knows it is going to be a hit.
Yep, that all happened to Brooke. And to top it off, every time she has been in Chase's presence since the incident, she has passed out, totally normal from a medical condition that she has.
And to make matters, worse, or better depending on who you are asking, Chase has offered to drive Brooke around in an RV for her three week book tour.
During the book tour, Brooke and Chase get closer and closer and Brooke's crush deepens, while Chase realizes that he also has feelings for Brooke. But how will this relationship survive once Chase finds out that Brooke had an obsessed level crush on him and that this amazing book he is editing is actually about him? Well dive in and find out!
Whenever I read a Max Monroe book, I immediately know that I am going to be in for some amazingly sarcastic banter and Brooke, and Chase at times, BROUGHT THE BANTER. The one liners in this book were phenomenal! This is my first Max Monroe book where there wasn't a big friend group bouncing off of each other, so that was definitely a different direction that this book took. But it only made Chase and Brooke that much more immersed with only each other.
Now onto the audiobook narrators - I LOVED the choices of narrators for this one. CJ Bloom is a great female narrator and Joe Arden has my heart, so I will literally read anything and everything that he narrates.
In all, if you want the laughs, you definitely need to pick up this book!
ARC and ALCs were provided via Netgalley and the publisher.
The thing that I love about Max Monroe's titles is the manic chaotic good that their characters emanate. As a reader of their titles, I find that I am not only endeared to them, and laugh-out-loud amused by them, but I always really root for the characters to succeed in their relationship attempt but also whatever is going on in the plot too.
In this case, Brook sends the wrong file to her editor and ends up spiraling when what she sends is not only so good that it's worthy of publication but also a steamy fan-fiction of her and said editor. Add in a promotion roadtrip, forced proximity in an RV, and some seriously cut up funny but heartwarming moments ... this is a classic Max Monroe rom-com. A truly enjoyable, fun read!
Gah!! I swear this is all of your favorite rom-com tropes all wrapped into one great book - with a dog in superhero costumes added in for good measure!
This was my first Max Monroe book, but I will definitely be checking out their backlist!
Thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher for early access to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you NetGalley for the free ALC in exchange for my honest review. This is my first book by this ajthor pair and really enjoyed it. The characters had great dvelipment their relationship and bond strengthen throughout the book. Great romance book super cute one liners.
3.5/5 rounded up
This was a fun, light hearted rom-com that had me giggling several times. Brooke is a writer that has a major crush on her new editor Chase. So much so that she write's a spicy fan fic starring her and Chase. When it's time to submit her new book, she sends the fan fic by mistake. Hilarity ensues. I really enjoyed this one.
Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced listener copy.
Brooke Baker is a successful author. She wrote a best selling series that is being adapted by Netflix. She was contracted for a spin-off, but it is not going well. To distract her from the awful follow-up, she has been writing a erotic romance about two people- based on her and her book editor. When her deadline arrives, she sends off the awful spin-off, except, she didn't. She accidentally sent her romance!
Chase Dawson just moved to NYC after accepting a book editor position at a major publisher. He is shocked by Brooke's book- as her previous series was paranormal and now she has sent a contemporary romance. And not the book she was contracted for. But it is good, really good. So good that he is willing to put his career on the line and do whatever it takes to get it published. Even drive Brooke's RV on a press tour all over the country.
I liked Brooke and Chase. I found their relationship cute and the book was funny. However, it was waaayyyyy too long. So much will they/won't they angst. Which is good, but there such a thing as too much, and this book fell into that trap.
Joe Arden and CJ Bloom narrate the audiobook. Perfection, as always.
I received an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.
Accidental Attachment is a hilarious, lighthearted rom com by the fabulous writing duo Max Monroe. I listened to the audiobook and as expected, CJ Bloom and Joe Arden put on a phenomenal performance. Also, while this is a stand-alone, if you’ve read previous their books, get ready for some fun cameos.

I thought this book was cute. Normally I love audiobooks but, in this case, I think I might’ve liked the story better if I read it myself. I did not care for the female MC’s narration. CJ Bloom has a distinctive style and a nice voice. I just felt her enunciation was too perfectly clipped and possible too “emote-y” for this book. I did like Joe Arden’s interpretation of the mail MC.
As far as the actual book content, it was cute. Cute service dog, cute close proximity situation. No deep dive in character and not really a lot of chemistry for most of the book. It seemed as though an inordinate amount of dialog was devoted to references to pee, poop and puke there for a while.
Thank you to NetGalley and Max Monroe LLC for this complimentary ARC. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I adored this book. It was cute and quirky, just what I love from Max Monroe. I loved the dynamic between Chase and Brooke. Prepare for a slow burn y’all!
I think my only complaint is that sometimes chase would tell us how he thought Brooke was just hilarious when I didn’t really think she was being that funny lol but I guess that also could just speak to how when you’re infatuated with someone, everything they do is just 😍
Overall I think this was adorable and I enjoyed it all the way through!
Thank you netgalley for the audiobook is amazing.
Brooke is an author who is divorce and she has a condition that make her faint so she has a service dog Benji that goes everywhere with her to warn her when the next episode will occur. She had a deadline and she send the wrong book to her publisher. It's about a two couple that work together and have a forbidden relationship and it's base on Brooke and chase.
Chase work in publishing and he moved after his break up from his fiancé once he received the manuscript accidental attachment he love it.it's different from what Brooke has written before so he pitches it to his boss and told him if it fails it his 🍑out the door.
Love the character it’s hilarious I laugh the way Brooke talk to Benji with no response and then chase and his sister because she a fan girl
Thank you @netgalley for a copy of this audiobook. A book about an author and an editor, sign me up. I loved this from the first page and how the manuscript sent to her editor was by accident. The tension and banter between Brooke and Chase was amazing. I love all the funny and tender moments. Benjamin, the support dog, was such a cutie too. The story is told in dual POV and the narrators brought the story to life.
This book was fine for a light romance novel. The storyline was fun with forced proximity. There were some cute and humorous parts, mostly with Benji the dog - but some of the dog storyline was a bit overboard with Brooke trying to track down a dog she thought was the love of his life. The romance between Brooke and Chase was good and felt earned. However, some of the spicy content was a little over the top and decidedly not sexy (he was so big she was worried he wouldn’t fit without an episiotomy?!). The audio was really well done, I enjoyed both narrators.
Wow. I have not read anything by the Max Monroe authors but after reading Accidental Attachment, I look forward to reading more by them! Fingers crossed that we get a follow-up novel on the main character's sister. For anyone who looks for my 5 star reviews, this is a recommendation for my steamy romance-loving friends.
What starts as an email error with the wrong attachment turns into a cross-country, close-proximity romp with lots of spice. Between Brooke Baker and Chase Dawson, there is continual suspense as to when they will get together, but super spicy stuff is throughout via excerpts from the main character's novel and her own fantasies. I absolutely loved the characters in this book, possibly the ultimate favorite being Bemji, Brooke's support dog in various superhero costumes. My partner has had a few vasovagal syncope occurrences (in a much lesser degree than the main character), so I may still selfishly try to push for our own 'Benji' super-hero support dog. :)
I was lucky enough to get an early copy of the audiobook and I consumed it in a day. I leave this review voluntarily and hope others get to enjoy this one as much as I did!

The premise called out to me right away! A successful writer accidentally sends her new (and super-dreamy) editor the wrong manuscript. Instead of the full-length paranormal novel she promised Longstrand Publishing, she sends the fan fiction she’s written about her crush…on him—including every detail of the hot, steamy “physical activity” she’s fantasized about happening between them.
What a fun and fast read! It hooked me right away and had me laughing & smiling throughout. Brooke and Chase’s romance was entertaining, hilariously funny, and the steam was definitely fogging up the windows of that motorhome. 😆 I couldn’t get enough of Benji and I loved all of the superhero and Dolly Parton references.
What I enjoyed;
✨Slow-Burn Romance
✨Forced Proximity
✨Cinnamon Roll Hero
✨Super Hero Benji
CJ Bloom and Joe Arden were are some of my favorite narrators and no surprise, they were amazing! They added so much humor and personality to Brooke and Chase. If you’re an audiobook fan, definitely give this one a listen.

A slow-burning treat, this exceedingly low angst romance is easily one of my new favorites from this writing duo. The hero is one of the biggest cinnamon roll sweethearts I've ever had the pleasure to read about, and the forced proximity was a major win. Not that either of these characters really had to be forced to spend time together; they're both smitten from the start, and the mutual crushes made this feel so lighthearted and easygoing. I was initially concerned that the book was going to drag - at nearly 600 pages, it's their longest yet - but it's just filled to the brim with sweet, funny, and swoony moments. Don't go into this one expecting a ton of heat or high levels of tension; these two are perfect together, and that's clear from the beginning. There's just the pesky matter of a major secret between them, which is sure to change everything once all is revealed.
The story follows Brooke, an author who has been dealing with a case of writer's block. Her last series became such a success that it's about to be made into a TV show, and she's supposed to be writing the spinoff. Unfortunately, that book hasn't been going so well, and Brooke keeps avoiding it by writing something else entirely. Meeting her sweet and sexy new editor sparked an immediate crush, and that has inspired a romance novel starring them. The characters might have different names, but it's clear to Brooke who has been starring in her fantasies lately. No one was ever supposed to see that book, but Brooke accidentally attaches it instead when submitting her latest novel... and Chase loves it. He loves it so much that he's willing to put his career on the line to publish that novel instead of the much-anticipated one. And he loves it so much that he finds himself joining Brooke on a cross-country promotional tour (in a motorhome!) while they get it edited at the last minute. And that leads to some unexpected results.
I wasn't sure what to expect going into this, but I've been a fan of this writing duo for a long time, so I didn't hesitate to take the journey once I saw the page count. I don't mind a beefy book if it's worth the time spent on it, and this one definitely was. With tons of chemistry, plenty of humorous and quirky moments, and two characters who are incredibly easy to like, I had no trouble getting emotionally invested in the romance right away. Chase makes a fantastic book boyfriend - kind, supportive, easygoing, and genuinely good. Brooke also makes for an interesting character, and I especially loved that she's got a service dog for her vasovagal syncope, which added a ton of quirkiness and a unique feel to the story. I also loved that this is essentially a road trip romance between two people who get along SO well. The vibes are relaxed and fun, the angst is low, and the only major issue is the (not so) small matter of telling Chase about the book. So I had a great time sitting back and enjoying my time spent with this couple, and it flew by for me.
Audio note: The audio is excellent! With CJ Bloom and Joe Arden narrating, you can't go wrong. Both give great performances that infuse a ton of humor and personality into the characters, and I can wholeheartedly say that the audio enhances the reading experience. Bloom has been narrating a lot of the books I've been reading lately, so I've gotten pretty used to her voice. She does fantastic job with rom coms, and I enjoyed her as Brooke. Arden is always a solid pick, and he was great as Chase. Both narrators are skilled and their voices are easy to listen to, so no complaints there. The book itself is very much a slow burn with a few spicy moments along the way, so it's a good choice for a workday listen overall (maybe start the first chapter at home, lol). The runtime is too much for a single day, but I looked forward to jumping back in every time I set it down. So I definitely recommend the audio.
JOE ARDEN!!! Need I say more?! Clearly I absolutely loved the narrators for this story! & the story itself was also really cute.
Brooke gets to live a real life romance book after she accidentally sends the fanfic she wrote about her boss, who she also happens to have a massive crush on, and sweet oblivious Chase has no idea the mmc is based off of him. Their story is funny and sweet, and everything I hoped it would be!
This was not love for me.
For starters I think the single biggest strike against my enjoyment of this book was the narrators and the fact that I listened to it. I think romcom is a really tricky genre of the audio world, it’s so easy to make the characters come off silly and/or flighty (to me at least), and unfortunately for me that’s what happened in a big way.
Add to that that the plot was definitely a “slow burn” and I felt like I just kept waiting for the falling in love part of the story to happen.
I’m opting out of nitpicking, because really the last thing I want to do is pan books or narrators, but gosh I am really hoping my next read moves me. If nothing else I’m finally feeling the pull back to something non audio.
