Review: Accidental Attachment - Max Monroe
I was very lucky enough to receive this as an audiobook ARC.
And Chase Dawson may be the hottest man alive and a super-talented editor to boot, but he’s completely oblivious that he’s the star of the manuscript he just convinced his boss to green-light. Brooke Baker has been through a lot in her thirty-one years of life. A divorce. A career change. A move to New York City from “small-town” Ohio. Not to mention, she has a bit of a medical condition that involves occasional fainting spells, mild embarrassment, and the companionship of her adorable service dog and canine sidekick, Benji. But none of it has prepared her for this. None of it prepared her for Chase Dawson. Strong jaw, blue eyes, cut muscles, and a perfect swoop of superhero-worthy black hair, Chase’s features are those of a book boyfriend and then some. Obviously, Brooke would know—she literally filled an entire manuscript with it. A manuscript no one was ever supposed to see. Will she survive two months of revising and editing the sizzling romance she imagined with Chase in extremely close quarters with him? Or will the constant white lies and overwhelming attraction make her spontaneously combust?
The story explores themes of self-discovery, taking chances, and embracing one's uniqueness. Brooke's journey to finding her voice as a writer and learning to navigate her medical condition adds depth to her character arc.
Max Monroe's writing is engaging and humorous, making "Accidental Attachment" an enjoyable and lighthearted read. The story's pacing keeps the reader invested in Brooke and Chase's evolving relationship.
Accidental Attachment" is a fun and heartwarming romantic comedy with endearing characters, witty dialogue, and a unique premise. Fans of workplace romance and rom-coms will find this book to be an entertaining addition to their reading list.
I definitely recommend this book!!
Rating: 4 / 5⭐️’s
This book was well wrtittenand heart felt. It was very long but I didn’t feel it at all because it kept my attention
thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. this was fantastic, just what i have come to expect from this author and look forward to carrying in my book store.
The premise for this book was SO MUCH FUN! A romance writer with writer's block fantasizes about her editor and then writes about it and accidentally sends it to him! Cue all sorts of uncomfortable awkwardness. Steamy but full of heart. I really enjoyed the unique disability rep and her service dog and thought this was good on audio narrated by favs Joe Arden and CJ Bloom. Two thumbs up from me despite feeling it was a tad longer than it needed to be. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review!
A slow start that led to a slow burning, but more than satisfying ending.
A little too much ground laying at the beginning for me, but after that, I was invested. The book had an interesting take on the enforced proximity trope as Chase finds himself driving the motorhome around the country so that Brooke Baker can promote the Netflix series based on her award winning books. The book series that she should have been continuing to write when instead she wrote her novel focusing on the fantasy relationship between her and Chase. The very book she also accidentally sent to Chase (as her editor).
This being a rom-com Brooke doesn't confess her error, or her feelings, whilst Chase similarly tamps down his own growing longings for Brooke. Throw in an adorable service dog that helps Brooke cope with her illness and the road trip is bound to get bumpy. I'll let you find out for yourself whether the journey took them to heaven or hell.
I liked both main characters and let's face it what girl wouldn't fall in love with Chase, he was the perfect book boyfriend, both on the page and off.
As I listened to the audio-book a shout out to CJ Bloom and Joe Arden as the narrators, they brought the book to life perfectly and I will admit that Joe's growl brought me to life too!
A perfect romantic, escapist read, with just the right amount of misdirection and angst along the way.
I listened to this as an audiobook and loved the two narrators. The storyline kept me interested and the characters were developed with their own flaws, insecurities, quirks, and humor. It took me a while to warm up to Brooke. She seems so insecure and flighty and quite immature, but I think the author slowly uncovered why she was like that which warmed me up to her after a while. I thoroughly enjoy the back and forth first person narration.
This was my first book by Max Monroe and I know it won't be my last. This was a well written, cute, funny romance with depth and lovely characters. An Ultimate meet cute rom com, full of quirks and non stop laughs. The love story between two adults both trying to succeed in their jobs really warmed by heart. I also really loved the narrators CJ Bloom and Joe Arden. I would highly recommend this book and I can't wait for the next.
Thank you NetGalley and Max Monroe LLC for allowing me to listen to this audiobook for my honest opinion.
This was a super cute audiobook! The characters were lively and fun with superb chemistry and banter! I will always love an quick and easy romance!
So I originally started this book some time in June. I was in a bit of a slump and thought a cute fun spicy Rom Com would be the perfect way to get out. Except, it took me until the first week in August to get through the Prologue. I would start, and then get distracted and put it down. Only to forget to pick it back up again for another week or two. Or three.
Something about the way the main character spoke and acted just screamed I'm Trying To Be Unique and Look At Me, I'm Not Like Other Girls. One too many mentions of modern day Real Life made it weird. Jeff Bezos Penis Rocket was not a phrase I thought I'd encounter in a book but.. it happened and it threw me off. But not in a good way? In chapter two she's taking her blood pressure and says her "problem with vampire juice". Again, it's like she's just *trying* to be unique. I get it, I say weird shit too. But not every other word is a quirky phrase.
"It's not every day you diddle your doodle to the image of someone's face to put yourself to sleep every night and then have a professional meeting with them." Add that to a list of sentences I never thought I'd run into.
I've DNFed the book. I'm not the target audience, I can see that now. I will give it a 3 star rating because I believe this book is for someone, just not me.
Final thoughts:
I don't fully understand her mortification at having the book published. As long as she doesn't tell anyone that it was her fantasy about her editor, and as long as it's successful, what's the problem? Smut books get written all the time (as shown by the fact that this *IS* a smutty book). Just chill out, enjoy the money your wet dreams generate, and roll with it?
I remember reading my 1st Max Monroe book and like everyone trying to figure out who they were. And I'm a Max Monroe fan.
But this story took a long time for anything to happen.
I love the idea of turning in the wrong manuscript and it being about your editor. Her service dog and his hero costume yes here for it all day. Chase was such a cinnamon roll I loved him.
Once we got to the middle or so of the book It picked up for me there is a lot of humor and love the road trip. The squirel was the best I laughed out loud. If you read it you will know what I mean.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review
This book is a fun romance but is incredibly too long. It was predictable but also did not have much of a plot. I did enjoy the dual narrator of the audiobook.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
So, where do I begin? I will begin with 𝙄 𝙁𝙇𝙄𝙋𝙋𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙇𝙊𝙑𝙀𝘿 𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙎 𝘽𝙊𝙊𝙆! Writing duo 𝗠𝗮𝘅 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗿𝗲 has created another whopper of a laugh-out-loud, snort-your-drink-through-your-nose read and I 👏🏼was👏🏼there👏🏼for👏🏼it!
⠀
Brooke & Chase were masterfully created characters. I absolutely adored getting to know them, following them on their hilarious journey. I loved that the heroine had a health issue and was still a bad@$$ female! Kudos to MM on that!
⠀
And, can we talk about #JoeArden + #CJBloom ‘s absolute perfection of a narration for this book? I mean who doesn’t love a 𝗝𝗼𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻 narrated book? The way the banter came to life for me when they spoke it, was absolutely priceless and I loved it so much!
⠀
This is one audiobook you do not want to miss! You will laugh, you will fall in love and you will so ready for another amazing @authormaxmonroe novel! Great job, ladies!

A successful writer accidentally sends her new & super-dreamy editor the wrong manuscript. Instead of the paranormal novel, she sends the fan fiction novel she’s written about her crush…on him. A manuscript no one was ever supposed to see.
Now will she survive two months of revising and editing the sizzling romance she imagined between them while being in extremely close quarters with him? Or will the constant white lies and overwhelming attraction make her spontaneously combust?

This book is laugh out loud- till your stomach hurts hilarious. Brooke is an extremely successful author who suffers from vasovagal syncope, 'a neurological condition that involves a drop in her blood pressure, heart rate, or both at the same time that sends her into a brief but severely inconvenient loss of consciousness.' She is cute, wierd, funny & smart with loads of self deprecating inner monologue. Chase is an absolute cinnamon roll MC. They are just perfect together.
"𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘄𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. 𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴- 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲."
The book has wonderful side characters. Mo, Chase's sister is a crazy fan of Brooke & her books. Sammy is awesome & I can't wait for her & Noah's book! Though the absolute best part of this book- Benji, the superhero sevice dog🐕🦺
"𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝗖 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱. 𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗼𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲. 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗿, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲."
I mean, it’s not every day you write a book about your crush, work on that book with your crush while you spend nearly a month on a motor home together, find yourself falling in love with your crush, and then, not only do you publish that book, but you do it with that very man standing beside you the entire time, as a couple.
"It’s freaky how the world works sometimes"
Freaky yet an absolutely beautifully adorable story.

Thank You, Max Monroe and NetGalley , for a copy.
Brooke is a very successful writer with 3 books that top the best-seller lists, and an upcoming Netflix series based on said books. Brooke has an impending deadline for a new WIP, but has been writing some fanfic on the side due to a lack of inspiration. Instead of emailing her WIP to her new (and hot 🥵) editor, Chase, she accidentally emails him her spicy fanfic. Oh, did I mention the spicy fanfic just so happens to be based on herself and her insanely attractive new editor? In a shocking turn of events, Chase loves the book and insists on getting it published. Brooke’s only options are to ‘fess up and admit she made a mistake or to go along with it, which means long hours working with Chase. But Netflix wants her to go on a nationwide tour to promote her new series which means Chase is coming along for the ride. And with Brooke’s medical condition she can’t fly, so she’s forced to rent an RV to travel the country. And who would be driving? None other than editor Chase. Queue the forced proximity! 😏
3.5/5
This story was very quirky and cute! I loved Brooke’s narrative and remember laughing so much at her antics! I loved her relationship with her service dog Benji! Brooke is a homebody who is forced to go on tour for the successful launch of her Netflix live-action of a paranormal series she wrote. She is terrified of flying so her editor Chase, volunteers to drive her to the tour stops via RV. Their close proximity plus the fact that Chase is editing a spicy book about him and Brooke without knowing it’s about the two of them makes for some intense tension and laughs.
Chase was perfect! He falls for Brooke without even realizing it! His admiration of Brooke and how he sees her was perfection. He is a super nice guy but I honestly wanted more backbone from him.
My only issues with this one were the length and lack of true conflict. There were some issues that I wish had been a bigger deal and had made for an argument between the two main characters but it didn’t actually occur with significance. There was still a third act break up even though the conflict was rather shallow. The book just seemed to be too long for the subject matter and not in a fulfilling way. Many of Brooke’s internal dialogue chapters could have been cut out completely because there was no new information presented or subject matter that moved the plot forward.
It was an easy read over all and I enjoyed the humor here! I would recommend this read to romcom lovers! I listened via audio and I absolutely adore these narrators (CJ Bloom and Joe Arden) because they are so talented! I tandem read with the ebook as it is available on Kindle Unlimited. Thank you to Net Galley and the authors for a copy of this book for an honest review!
Brooke Baker is a super successful author with a writing block. She accidentally sends her hot editor the wrong manuscript and it happens to be a steamy read about him! Chase loves her manuscript and drives to get it published. While Brooke doesn't want her random written work to be pursued, she doesn't have her actual book in place. Brooke and Chase end up traveling together on a road trip while she is promoting the TV show based on her book. With the forced proximity and a severe crush Brooke struggles to keep things professional!
This was a cute book that was funny and lighthearted. Brooke was chaotic and real, Chase was the perfect male protagonist to balance her out. The book is spicy and loaded with some tension. I found the book too long for a romance novel. This was my first Max Monroe book. I will definitely be reading more of their work. I liked their writing style!
Thank you Max Monroe for gifting me this book.
It took me a long time to get into this book. Once I did I enjoyed it and the story was really cute. I listened to this book on audiobook and the narrators were top tier and I love how they handled the inner dialogue moments. Still a fun and comedic romance. Good book if you want a good laugh.
This was my first time reading from Max Monroe, and it was a pleasant surprise. The story was well written and funny with lovely characters. The story is about two adults, who both are trying to succeed in their careers. Brooke is a writer who is in a rut, so she decides to write a story of her and Chase, her new editor. The real story begins with when she accidentally sends her story and not her normal work. He loved it, and a publisher decided to send her on tour. However, she can't go on a plane because of her medical condition. And they agreed to go on a bus and her new editor will be the driver, so they can work while they travel. While they are travelling together, Chase is determined to make Brookes new book a hit, but he didn't expect to fall in love.
The audio book could have been five-star, but it was too long, though not boring at all. I think it was too much inner dialogue.
Like I said in the beginning, it was a funny and cute read with forced proximity. I definitely recommend it to everyone.
Read more than listened. Thank you for the arc!!
I appreciate the opportunity to provide my feedback.
