Brooke Baker is a successful writer who is about to turn in an absolute flaming piece of garbage to her new very hot editor when she decides to indulge in a little too much wine and accidentally ends up sending him the self insert romance she wrote about them in her downtime. Chase, not realizing the mistake Brooke has made, takes it upon himself to champion this new book and gets the publishing company to approve the change as long as they can get it released with a short turn around to capitalize on her upcoming streaming adaption of her book series.
When the streaming service announces they want her to be on the road to tour before the release, Chase volunteers to drive the tour bus to allow them more time to edit. Brooke is pretty sure she there’s no way she will survive this tour with close proximity to the guy of her (dirty) dreams, especially when he proves to be just as swoony IRL.
I was not prepared for this slow burn. Like this is a slllooooowwww burn. So please just know that these authors are going to make you really wait for it. You were warned.
Okay now let’s get to the fun stuff. I am always a fan of a cute animal side kick and her service dog was the absolute best. I loved how well they portrayed the bond between Brooke and Benji and even gave him his own side plot as well. I truly don’t blame Brooke for falling for Chase because, same. He was so sweet, caring, funny and understanding for like 90% of the book and it was impossible not to adore him. I did feel like his reaction during the main conflict was a little out of character and honestly detracted some from my enjoyment of the book. I just didn’t feel his level of response made sense with what we knew about his personality up to that point. I was glad with how everything worked out by the end though.
The narrators did an excellent job portraying these two. CJ Bloom really captured Brooke’s zany and manic personality. My only complaint is that the MMC had an accent that was present at the beginning, kind of faded in the middle and then returned at the end. It was a little odd that it wasn’t very consistent throughout.
If you love quirky main characters, adorable doggy side kicks, a swoony male lead with golden retriever energy and you don’t mind a super slow burn then I think you’ll enjoy this one!
Accidental Attachment is a fun, light-hearted romance. The main female character is Brooke, an introverted author working to finish her next novel. With a nonnegotiable deadline approaching, Brooke drunkenly attaches the wrong manuscript when sending an email to her editor, Chase. He reads the novel and loves it so much, he persuades his boss to send it into print. This is awful news for Brooke - the file she sent Chase is actually the super steamy novel she has been writing on the side - featuring Brooke and Chase as the inspiration behind the story's main characters. As if her luck couldn't get any worse, Brooke is then sent on a cross-country book tour with Chase volunteering to be her driver and solo companion. How will she get out of this one?
I selected this book looking for a light-hearted, fun romance and that is exactly what I found. The premise of the book was cute and unique compared to other romance books I have read and I found the story to be the perfect romantic read for those who enjoy "cozy mystery" books. The author sets the initial tone of the book to be very low stakes and honestly, it is refreshing to read something remotely drama-free.
With that said, this book is not for readers who are looking for surprising plot twists or character angst. The story moved along at a nice clip and kept me interested, but didn't have the "Oh No" feeling I'm used to. Yes, Brooke sent the wrong story to Chase but the characters' names were changed. How would anyone know the story behind the novel unless Brooke told them? When considering this, Brooke's level of terror about the novel feels a little overdone. Honestly, I would have liked this story just as much (if not more) if Brooke would have accepted the error and the fact that Chase enjoyed it so much. The author might have missed an important romance trope by not focusing more of her attention on the forced proximity factor between Brooke and Chase.
I read this story in audiobook form and am glad I did. Brooke (voiced by CJ Bloom) sounded exactly as I expected and the comedic timing/sarcastic tone used by Bloom made the story funny and easy to listen to. This is my first audiobook with Joe Arden, and he was spectacular as the character of Chase. I enjoyed the dual narration, with separate male/female voices for each chapter. However, I will always prefer duet narration and this book is a great example. I think having Arden voice Chase throughout the book, even in the chapters from Brooke's point of view, would have been much easier for listeners. Bloom does her best at separating the characters, but there is nothing like the Southern accent that Arden has perfected here.

"Sending the book was an accident, but you and I were meant to be."
This book was so funny and sweet. Brooke and Chase were just so cute together. I love the workplace romance trope, add in forced proximity and a cinnamon roll MMC and I'm all over it.
Brooke is an author whose bestselling series is being turned into a Netflix show. She's having a hard time writing the spinoff of that series and after a drunken night, accidentally sends the wrong manuscript about her editor, Chase, to him instead of the spinoff he's expecting. When Brooke meets with Chase, she still doesn't know she sent the wrong file. Chase is raving about the new direction, Brooke is mortified. Chase is so excited about the book he convinces the publisher that her book is the next best seller.
Netflix has arranged a cross country tour for Brooke to promote the new show. Chase volunteers himself to drive her in an RV with her service dog so they can edit the book together. Will Brooke survive the extreme close proximity with her crush? Will she tell Chase her new book is in fact about him and her? Read this book and find out!
I laughed so much with this book, Brooke is the funniest FMC and Chase was just so damn sweet. I fell in love with not only Brooke and Chase, but Brooke's service dog, Benji.
The narrator's were perfect for this book, Joe Arden and CJ Bloom were fantastic for Chase and Brooke.

My first Max Monroe book and won’t be my last. I loved this rom com book! It’s funny and enjoyable to listen to. In the story, Brooke is a writer and has hit a rut in her writing. She is due to turn in her next spin off book. In her writers block she wrote a creative manuscript of a story about a character that’s based on her and her crush who happens to be her editor, Chase. This story is different than she normally writes and is spicy. It’s meant to be just for her eyes only that is until she accidentally attached this spicy book in an email to her editor instead of her next spin off book. The editor absolutely loves the book and wants to get it published. He has no clue that the main guy character is him in the story. The story between Brooke and Chase unfolds from there. I loved the close forced proximity of the two main characters with the RV setting and tour across America. Brooke has a book that has been turned into a Netflix series and she is doing a tour across America to promote the upcoming show. Benji is such a lovable dog character. I really loved how the relationship unfolds between Brooke and Chase and the tension. I listened to this book on audio. CJ Bloom ad Joe Arden did a wonderful job with their narration. You could really feel the tension, and emotions in their telling of the story.
Max Monroe never fails to disappoint. You know you’re going to laugh and laugh a lot. I loved the theme of this book. Loved the oops that caused the forced proximity. Workplace romance. A secret crush turned real life. I enjoyed the journey Chase and Brooke were on. Loved how they were in a RV. Loved how Chase was so thoughtful with the little things. Then with big surprises. This book is definitely a slow burn but I listened to this in one day. It was a great book.
This was my first Max Monroe book, and I can honestly say I really enjoyed it! I can’t wait to dive into their backlog more!
I mean how can you not enjoy a book about an author with the most adorable service dog?!?! I really loved the dynamic between Brooke and Chase! It was fun and flirty and these two definitely had chemistry!
Brooke accidentally sends her new editor the wrong book, the one she wrote about him😏 and he loves it. He pushes to get it published instead of the book she was supposed to write and they are forced to edit together on the road. Will it end in disaster or love?
This one is out now and you should really pick it up! I really enjoyed it and it was a great listen for me! I did receive an early copy of the audiobook, however all thoughts and opinions are my own!
Audio/Ebook Review
This is one if the longest books I have read but boy was it a great read!!!! From the moment I picked Accidental Attachment up I was captivated, I laughed, I giggled and fell hard and fast for Brooke and Chase. This book has it all and I highly recommend it to all romance lovers.
CJ Bloom ad Joe Arden did a wonderful job with their narration. They were spot on with the humour and the passion and they really did the characters and their story justice. I really felt like I was in the RV with Brooke and Chase because of their easy to listen to voices.
Brooke never meant to send Chase her manuscript after all it’s a story based on feelings for him but she can’t take it back because he is determined to get the story he loves published. What follows is an entertaining, fun road trip across the US in a RV and this is a trip you will want to join……
The banter is witty, the chemistry is scorching hot but what took this book to another level was the camaraderie this couple shared. It was also wonderful to have some cameo appearances from characters we love especially Thatcher Kelly a man who has my heart. Accidental Attachment is a quirky breath of fresh air that you all need to read.
This was such a nice surprise. I’ll be honest, I was looking forward to this audiobook because of the narrators. I will listen to CJ Bloom @crobsbk and @therealjoearden read the most boring restaurant menu and this was also my first Max Monroe book.

Brooke Baker is an author who has hit a bit of a rut on her current work in progress. However she has been working on another piece of writing that is purely just for her and her own private and spicy fantasies. 🫣
When her deadline approaches to turn in her work in progress, after a night of drinking solo and wondering what she is doing with her life and her adorable service dog Benji, she accidently sends the wrong manuscript to her editor. 🤓
The private manuscript is based on her and her gorgeous editor Chase having hanky panky moments… and now Chase has it in his hot big hands unaware that she wrote it about them… 🤪
Hilariousness ensues as they embark on revising and editing the steamy manuscript much to the disappointment of Brooke because her private manuscript was never supposed to be seen by anyone let alone by Chase and he thinks its going to be such a hit that he’s pit his job on the line to make it happen.
I really enjoyed this one. It was pure fun and absolutely entertaining. I think this is one of those books that you have to listen to because CJ and Joe did such a great job bringing these characters to life. There were many times that I laughed out loud even at the slightly cheesy spots and I didn’t mind them at all. It was also lovely to see a character that had a service dog due to chronic illness. I loved the scenes with Benji. 🥰
If you are looking for something that is fun, entertaining with great slowburn tension and a little spice, then definitely add this to your Audio TBR.

Thank you to @authormaxmonroe @rick_283 and @netgalley for the ALC opportunity
Thank you NetGalley, the authors and publisher for the ARC (audiobook version)…in which I am to provide an honest review.
Brooke is an accomplished author who accidentally sends the wrong book to her editor, Chase via email attachment. The emailed story is about her fantasy romance (spicy scenes included) with Chase aka her secret crush. Awkward! The real story starts off super slow and continued that way for about 20+ chapters. So buckle up for the long teasing ride...which was a little difficult at times, but I was determined the authors wouldn't lead us astray...right?!? First half of the book, I was slightly confused how they had feelings for one another...but again, we kept going. When the book was done, all I could think was, "Welp, this was different." I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. Will I read another Max Monroe book? Absolutely...cuz I still believe (cue Mariah Carey).
Pros:
-Chase...the adorable book boyfriend I never knew was needed. Bless his heart for dealing with Brooke's nonsense.....which he found mesmerizing 🤷♀️
-Side characters had great interactions throughout the book (well, all except for Caroline...girl bye)
-Dolly Parton references
-Some good spicy scenes
-The Narrators!!!!! Ughhhhh, CJ Bloom and Joe Arden for the WIN! They kept me hurdling towards the book finish line...otherwise, a DNF was bound to happen.
Cons:
-Often felt like the book centered around Brooke's service dog and the need to remind readers of her medical condition. We got it...trust us...we didn't forget.
-Inner monologues were often long winded and repetitive
-Brooke was a LOT...very off-putting and complained way more than I one should
-Lacked a true backstory of Brooke and Chase
-Did I mention Brooke's constant monologues and discussions with her dog
-Hard pass on the epilogue. It didn't provide any extra boost and could've been shortened by about 80%...or just excluded
Accidental Attachment is a long book but so worth the read. I laughed so much that I nearly cried reading this book. Max and Monroe, you have done it again, I was hooked from the first chapter to the last in Brooke Baker and Chase Dawson’s story.
There was absolutely nothing that I didn't love about Brooke and Chase, both separately and especially when they finally got together. This was a funny, laugh out loud, at times emotional read that had me receiving many funny looks from my husband.
CJ Bloom ad Joe Arden did a stellar job with their narration. Not only are their voices easy to listen but the humor and passion was brought to life with their performances. They did the characters and the story justice and I was riveted as I listened.
We’ve all sent an email that as soon as it has been sent, you know you shouldn’t have and that’s what happens to Brooke when she sends Chase her manuscript (which is based on her feelings for him).
The chemistry between the Brooke and Chase is hard to overlook and you can feel the tension as it builds. The banter was witty, and I loved the camaraderie between them as their relationship evolved.
I was thrilled to see some familiar faces make an appearance whilst reading, Thatcher Kelly will always be my first love and it really added an additional layer to my overall enjoyment of Accidental Attachment.
Max Monroe are the queens of romantic comedy and I highly recommend you read this gem of a book.

•Brooke Baker is a successful writer. She accidentally sends her editor (Chase Dawson) a manuscript inspired by her dreamy crush on him. How will she last two months in his close proximity?
•You can’t deny the tension and chemistry between Brooke and Chase. The traits of characters seemed to repeat over and over which became a little tedious. I felt like the plot dragged. I wished I had more of an insight into the manuscript itself, that could of been fun way to see the connection between the characters. The narration of Chase’s sister, came across too keen and unbelievable at times. If you love witty main characters who tells self-deprecating jokes and have great banter, then this is the novel for you.
Feels: like a super-loved up, slow burn romance.
★★★ 3/5
(Thank you NetGalley for this ARC)
I struggled through 30% of this and all I can say about it is I liked the service dog. I've recently discovered about myself I don't 100% vibe with books with extreme levels of second hand embarrassment and this had over 100 pages of it. Also can we stop reminding people that Thatch and Cassie exist. We get it, they're quirky. Even Joe Arden on audio couldn't rescue this for me. I'm sad because I've loved this author duo's work tonnes before but this was not it.
Received a copy for review.
This book was chaotic and yet somewhat fantastic too. Yes some of it is way over the top. Yes sometimes I needed the heroine to calm her tits and breathe. Yes sometimes the hero needed to really look not just kind of. And he needs to watch Serendipity because what is he doing with his life.
I enjoyed it.
Always love a good Max Monroe indulgence. On point comedic banter and likable, flawed characters with cameos from some old favs added to the charm of this novel.
The first 30% of the book was a bit slow for my taste, so perhaps this book just wasn't my cup of tea. I love, love, love Max Monroe books so anything they put out goes on my TBR.
Thank you NetGalley & Max Monroe LLC for the ALC. The narration was fabulous.
OHMYGOSH! This one was a rollecoaster. It was a slow burn and it unalived me a few times but it was so worth it. Their story was well written. Every moment they spent was a moment closer to getting together, I do see why he was upset when he found out the book was about him. But I’m so glad he was ok with it after because they really did like each other before all that.
I'm on the fence with this one. I really enjoyed the narrators and their performance, but the story fell a little short.
The writing style was fine and it flowed... but nothing ever seemed to give substance to the story. Not a lot seemed to happen throughout. I might be the minority in this opinion though. I will certainly give this author another try!
This duo's first book had me laughing throughout! It's one of the funniest reads I've had in a while, with an interesting storyline that kept me engaged. Brooke is chaotic and her hilarious inner dialogue had me laughing out loud. Chase and his sister had a heartwarming relationship. The banter and sexual tension between Chase and Brooke were a highlight. And let's not forget the superhero, Brooke's service dog Benji! The audio version truly brought the story to life. I loved this feel-good read that kept me laughing until the end. Max Monroe never disappoints!
I really enjoyed this, especially as an audiobook. The two narrators had great emotional inflection and this book is so funny, I loved hearing the great lines out loud. This was a slow burn, and I enjoyed the banter between the two characters as they got to know each other more. I also really enjoyed how big a part of the story the other people in their lives were. I felt like bringing in both their families as part of the story made it even better. I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a slow burn romance with forced proximity and friends to lovers tropes.
This was a fun, campy book. I was enamored with Brooke Baker and her adorable service dog Benji - almost right out the gate. I liked the chemistry between her and Chase, though it failed to really hook me. That is, this felt like the sort of story that I objectively enjoyed and found entertaining, without ever really feeling it. I think this is sometimes a byproduct of romcoms that veer toward the more slapstick. There is a lot of emphasis on the comedy, and maybe not quite as much on the emotional build-up or swooniness.
That said, this was a really enjoyable story. The audio version is well done - the narrators bringing the characters, and the story to life. It was an enjoyable listen, and a feel-good story that left a smile on my face in the end. Definitely worth the read!
Special thanks to NetGalley and Max Monroe LLC for the opportunity to provide this review.
This is one of those books that I wish I could read all over again! I initially didn’t know what to think about Brooke when it seemed that she spent all of her time either talking to herself or her dog, but when her family members and agent were introduced, it made her seem more human and relatable. I enjoyed the switching perspectives between Brooke and Chase. They were intriguing enough to keep me interested and they were both refreshingly hilarious at times! From Brooke being one sneeze away from her period to Chase putting his unit on d*** detention, I quite literally laughed out quite a few times. As a reader, I felt as if I was going on an adventure with them…seeing how things would unfold at the same time the characters did. The book was well-written and I appreciated the relevant text and pop culture references throughout I will miss reading about Brooke and Chase, and would love to read about Sammie and Noah next!
