The perfect blend of heartwarming, humor and heat. Monroe continues to push the envelope with delicious, naughty fun. Accidental Attachment continues that endearing tradition with the help of the ever electrifying duo: CJ Bloom and Joe Arden. With a chameleon like accuracy, Chase and Brooke come to life through the voices of masterful storytellers. There is no turning back once you've offered your heart to perfection.

I was instantly not a fan of Brooke as a character. Her inner monologue was meant to be funny but just comes off as annoying and childish. I couldn't get passed it or the long mention of how she couldn't be mad at her dog because he's so cute in his costume. She then goes off to talk all about the other costumes she has for this dog because he's a hero. She also compares her writing deadline to some pretty bad stuff. Also the dedication in this book is just plain weird. I really don't understand why this book is as long as it is but can only assume that it's because of the constant repeat of information. I don't think I'll be picking up a book for this author duo again. I didn't find it to be funny and the other reviews mentioned how the romance does come into play until later in the book. If it's a romance book I don't see why the romance wouldn't have been sooner. I also wasn't a fan of the narrator's voice.

Synopsis:
"A successful writer accidentally sends her new (and super-dreamy) editor the wrong manuscript. Instead of the full-length paranormal novel she promised Longstrand Publishing, she sends the fan fiction she’s written about her crush…on him—including every detail of the hot, steamy “physical activity” she’s fantasized about happening between them.
And Chase Dawson may be the hottest man alive and a super-talented editor to boot, but he’s completely oblivious that he’s the star of the manuscript he just convinced his boss to green-light."

My Thoughts:
A spicy romance book is not something that I typically gravitate towards, but I heard so much hype about this one that I wanted to read it for myself. I'm so glad that I did! This story is told with so much humor that I laughed out loud several times. Told in dual POV's we get inside both Brooke and Chase's heads as they navigate their professional relationship while lusting after one another. I enjoyed both characters but Brooke's awkwardness and wit felt so real. I love when a book pulls humor from everyday things that are too awkward to talk about.
While I don't see myself diving head first into the spicy romance genre in general, @authormaxmonroe definitely has me wanting more books like this with laugh out loud humor.
If you haven't done so recently, this is your sign to read a book outside of your normal genre.

Thank you to @netgalley and @authormaxmonroe for the gifted copy of this book.

Ok. This book was pretty funny. I love the premise of the story. The FMC & MMC were likeable. I think she was a bit too crazy when it came to her dog (IF you love dogs you will likely enjoy this part of the story) I think the MMC was a little too dramatic when we got to "the dark part" of the book. I find it hard to relate sometimes when people get so upset about things I don't think are a huge deal and also when they freak out and refuse to let people explain. Overall a good story. I generally enjoy Max Monroe books and this is no different.

I listened to Accidental Attachment while doing outside chores I hate, and it made the drudgery much more bearable. Was it realistic? Not so much. A keeper to have at hand on a deserted island? Probably not. But Brooke and Chase are a cute couple who are obviously meant for each other. I found the shenanigans a bit tiresome, the prose a bit more purple than necessary, and I thought Chase got way too worked up over a not-so-big misunderstanding, but all that aside, it was a fun read/listen. What’s more, the characters stayed in my mind, and I was left with that pleasant sensation of wanting to know what happened to them after the book ended—an accomplishment few authors pull off.

Thanks to NetGalley and Max Monroe LLC for the audio ARC of this book for an honest review!

Audio thoughts: I often struggle with audio. I loved both voice actors, but I would always prefer that they do ALL of the audio for the character. I didn't love that the first introduction to Chase was via the female voice actor pretending to be both male and have an accent.

Story thoughts: I've read every single thing MM have put out into the world. Was I expecting a slow burn? Definitely not. Did I love the ending? Yes. I will read anything these ladies do. Mild spoilers below:

Why was Benji in costumes? Why did Chase wink so much? Neither made me dislike the book, but they did distract me a little. Thank goodness for a short 3rd act conflict! 🙌

A steamy cross-country romance perfect for any summer road trip! Brooke is a charming homebody with a hidden disability that means she’s constantly accompanied by her assistance dog, Benji, who has a penchant for wearing superhero outfits (and rocking them!). Her character is relatable and easy to connect to with her anxieties and self-doubt explored throughout the novel as she struggles with finding herself on a road trip across the US with her crush and the book she wrote about them. She’s definitely in a pickle and it led to a fun story as Brooke tries to avoid the edits at all costs and Chase works hard to polish her book into its final form for publication. I would have liked to see them working together on the book a bit more, as there are scenes from the book read during the story but we don’t see them talking about it much between them. However, watching their relationship build from strangers in their not-so-forced proximity trip, with plenty of pit stops and awkward moments throughout, was great fun. The characters had enough depth and backstory for them to feel real and their building connection was evident, and I was completely rooting for them! Accidental Attachment was a really enjoyable read chock full of interesting side plots and great humour.

I received a free copy of this book. All views are my own.

I really enjoyed this one! I adored Brooke and her faithful companion/service dog Benji and Chase was so swoony! This was a hilarious, heartfelt rom-com with great disability rep! I highly recommend if you love dual POV, slow burn, forced proximity, road trips and books about books/authors! I listened to the audiobook and despite the inconsistencies with Chase’s twang, overall, I thought the narrators did a great job!

Audiobook Review
3.5 stars

When the blurb for Accidental Attachment came out I was really looking forward to get my hands on the audiobook. It had the premises of a hilarious book just the way I like my Max Monroe’s.
Perhaps I had too many high expectations so when I finally started listening I just wasn’t impressed. The book lacked the humour and was a little dragged out. I liked the interactions with Benji, the superhero dog, but he seemed to have far too much page time than it was actually necessary for us to get the message that he was an integral part of everyone’s lives.
Unfortunately the book was just too long. There was so much fluff that I started switching off from the book. It was hours and hours of nothing happening.
Not even Joe Arden’s performance of Chase brought me back to the land of the interested. CJ Bloom’s performance of Brooke however was absolutely perfect. Somehow she made Brooke sound hysterically sweet.
I really really like Max Monroe’s books and I’ll keep reading/listening as this was surely just a one-off.

A cross country trip with people denying their feelings - add in a pup dressed as a superhero and you get a 5 star read from Max Monroe!

Seriously, this book has made me laugh and cry! What a way to start off my month

This was my first romance by the co-writing duo Max Monroe, and it was a fun, steamy road trip romance. A writer, coming off a successful fantasy trilogy, accidentally submits the wrong manuscript to her new editor. Instead of the spin-off novel which she knows is a hot pile of garbage, she instead sends the romance manuscript she never intended to see the light of day--especially since it's based on her new editor. To make matters worse, he LOVES it and decides to pitch it to the rest of the team. She's shocked to learn that it's given the green light. She and her editor, in order to make the tight turn-around requirement, end up road tripping in an RV around the country since she's required to make appearances on a tour that coincides with the release of the streaming series based on her fantasy books.

Is it super believable? No. Is it supposed to be? Also no. Did I enjoy it? Absolutely. Their chemistry was off the charts, and I'm a sucker for a road trip romance. Forced proximity is one of my favorite tropes. And sidenote: it had great disability rep! Our main character has a condition that leads to her body shutting down if she gets too stressed, and she has an awesome puppy sidekick to help her manage her condition. Loved that so much!

Thank you to NetGalley for my advance listening copy. The audiobook was a delight to listen to. It featured both CJ Bloom and Joe Arden, two of my all-time favorite narrators. Unsurprisingly, they both delivered fantastic perf0rmances.

Thank you to NetGalley and Max Monroe LLC for the audio version of this book. I am not affiliated with the publisher in any way. I am not compensated for my review in any way. Everything I write is of my own personal thoughts, feelings, and opinions.
This book was good. It took me a little while to get into it and I almost DNF it to be honest. What kept me going is seeing so much hype for this book on social media.
So Brooke is struggling with life. She is in her 30's, been divorced, had a career change, moved from a small town to a big city. She also has a service dog named Bengi. One night she decided to let her hair down and have some wine. Well she was working on sending a manuscript to her publisher- well she had wine goggles on and accidently sent the wrong one. She had one she had written that was hot and steamy and it was actually a fantasy/dream of her own about her sexy publisher himself. Well he loved this manuscript! Little does he know that it is about him.
Brooke has a thing and wont fly, so when she is scheduled to go on tour it just so happens that Chase has access to a motor home and he will be driving Brooke & Benji around the country on the book tour. While on tour they both developed feelings for each other. ( it sort of felt like they fell in love due to the close forced proximity)
This was a great book once I really got into it!

This book was a walking punchline. I don’t think I stopped chuckling the entire time I was listening 😆

📖Work Romance
📖Forced Proximity
📖Chronic Illness
📖Rom Com
📖Faithful Companion
📖Slow Burn

Imagine having a little too much to drink and accidentally attaching the wrong file in the email to your editor. Only… that file was not only the wrong book, it was the book that you wrote about him. And it was filthy 😅🫣add in hilarious siblings, fainting and dog costumes and you have a truly entertaining read.

The action and dialogue was fast paced and the chemistry was on point. I loved our sweet friend and the spotlight on a difficult illness.

The narrators did an excellent job, even if they disagreed on the levels of southern our MC was 😆 I thoroughly enjoyed this audio.

Author Brooke was struggling getting through her newest book. But her new editor Chase was providing her with some steamy inspiration on another book filled with her fantasies with him. But when she turns in her book at the deadline and accidentally attaches THAT book instead of the real one…Chase loves it and wants to get it published. Working on it together in close proximity is hard for Brooke to not make her fantasies become reality!

This book was so funny! The characters and antics had me laughing out loud while listening: Brooke and Chase’s chemistry was great, and the addition of superhero dog Benji was adorable too. It sounds like this could be more of a series? And I cannot wait to get the next part of the story!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Max Monroe for an ARC of this audiobook!

This was the best Rom-Com I have read or rather listened to in a very long time. Brooke's humor kept me laughing even in public places🙈 where I would get strange looks 😂. Chase OMG made my heart do flips, hell I fell in love with him 😂 unbeknownst to my husband 🤷🏾‍♀️. This book was funny and heart warming, I laughed and I cried. The narrators did an excellent job they gave this book all the feels. This was my first Max Monroe book but it definitely will not be my last. Thank you Netgalley and Max Monroe LLC for the ARC in exchange for my review.

Imagine crushing on someone so hard you do the only thing you can think of to get your feelings out ... write an erotica romance novel about you two. Now imagine you go to send your editor (the guy you have a crush on) your new book only to realize you attached the wrong story. If that sounds appealing this is the book for you!

Overall this is a steamy romance with characters that have great chemistry. There is a lot of tension for a majority of the book because the idea of bridging the coworker/colleague gap is hard for them. That being said it can make this book seem a little slow. It started to feel like they liked the idea of each other more than each other. Plus the talk of them being colleagues and that's why they couldn't cross the line yet never really working together kind of was frustrating. It started to feel like they were making a problem out of something that doesn't have to be a big problem. Then it felt like they kept bringing up the fact that our main character accidentally attached the wrong story and now she felt stuck. I felt like there was so much potential but it fell a little flat for me.

Overall, I wouldn't say this is one of my favorite romances but if you want a dog lover author romance this is the romance for you. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

This ended up being a super fun book. I will admit that the beginning is a little slow and it feel repetitive but once you get through it it’s an enjoyable book.

There were some cringy part especially once the main characters were together but nothing I couldn’t get past.

The spice was a good level but I wish there was more. They didn’t get together until maybe 70% through so up until then it was all fantasies she was having and then felt a little fade to black.

Overall I felt it was a good book and I would recommend it, I just wish it was a little shorter

This book!! I really enjoyed it. I admit it took me a couple chapters to get into it (no clear reason why, could have just been a mood I was in), but because a few friends had read and enjoyed it, I stayed with it and I'm so glad I did.

I flipped between audiobook and an ebook, depending on mood, situation, etc. and really appreciated having the option to do so.
I thought the actors for the audiobook were great - the male actor with the southern accent - swoon. I felt the female actor really captured Brooke's sometimes frenetic energy, anxiousness, and humour. Well done.

Brief overview:
Brooke is a romance writer. One night, she drunkenly emails the wrong manuscript to her new editor, Chase. When it turns out he loves the book and wants to get it published, Brooke doesn't tell him its a mistake and that the romance book is based on him and her and it was her outlet to fantasize about the big crush she has on Chase. Oopsies.
As the two embark on a cross-country road trip to promote a Netflix show based on a book Brooke wrote, the two get closer and closer, eventually acting on their mutual attraction. But, at some point, the truth has to come out...
Also getting a starring role in the book is Brooke's service dog, Benji.

What I liked about this book:
- the sexual tension between Chase and Brooke - and then when they acted on it? damn.
- Brooke's ability to take her chronic illness in stride and find the humour in it.
- the banter, the jokes, Brooke's silliness - all these provided for many lighthearted moments during the book to counter the more serious issues
- the set-up for a sequel focused on Brooke's sister (please, let this be true!!)

other thoughts:
- I did find the book was a bit long, so it took me longer to read than I was anticipating
- I'm always amazed by books written by more than one author and how it doesn't read like multiple brains were involved. Great job with getting the 'one voice.'

I'll definitely be reading more books by Max Monroe!

Thanks to NetGalley and the authors for an eARC and ALC of the book. All opinions are my own.

Max Monroe does it again. I have not read all of Max Monroe's catalog, but I have read the whole Billionaire Bad boys series and I was so happy to see them pop up in this one! I did the audio book for this one and the narrators were perfection. CJ Bloom has major voice of gossip girl vibes! I could not unhear it, but I wasn't one bit mad at it, and Joe Arden had a bit of twang that I loved. This story was fantastic. It was adorable, endearing, and freaking hilarious. Chase was absolute perfection and Brooke was perfectly imperfect and unapologetically goofy! Highly recommend this one and I will be diving back into MM's backlog now!

Accidental Attachment is the story of Brooke Baker, author of a hit trilogy, soon to be heading to Netflix. In the meantime, she's struggling to write her next book - a spinoff of her successful series about the Shadow Brothers. The spinoff is...not going well and she has taken to working on a passion project instead - a book about her crush on her editor, Chase Dawson. Subtly naming the characters Clive and River, she manages to write an entire manuscript full of her dreams and fantasies if she was ever to make Chase hers. On the night that her spinoff manuscript is due, and a few too many glasses of wine in, Brooke attaches the wrong file to her email to Chase. Instead, she sends him a copy of her fanfiction smut about she and him instead. So, the book Accidental Attachment is about a character sending an accidental attachment to her editor, and the file she sent is a fanfic about him called Accidental Attachment. Got it? All joking aside, that was a little to on the nose for me, given that the title "Accidental Attachment" didn't really seem all that clever for her passion project anyway. But I digress.

Brooke does not realize her error until she meets with dreamy Chase in person to discuss the manuscript; while unexpected given her usual paranormal writing, he loves Accidental Attachment and pushes with the publishers to make it her next big thing. The only problem is, they need to get it edited and sent off ASAP, and Brooke's looming Netflix tour to promote her show is getting ready to start too. Due to several extenuating circumstances (a service dog, fear of flying, a medical condition that causes Brooke to faint at inopportune times, and Chase's very helpful experience in driving an RV in the past), Chase volunteers to drive Brooke across the country on her tour and work on the book along the way. I'm sure you can see where this is going. A lust-filled slow burn that culminates in fireworks. Add in a 3rd act confession to Chase that he really IS Clive to Brooke/River, some side characters and their various drama, and a few incidents of vasovagal syncope, and you ultimately reach the HEA for Brooke and Chase.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. It was cute, the characters were quirky enough to be unique but not quirky enough to be irritating, and the pull between the main characters was palpable. Benji - our service dog who dons superhero costumes and has his own side story of meeting his doggy-crush - was absolutely adorable and the author(s) did an excellent job capturing the bond of human and dog, as well as the true work that service dogs do.

Here's what worked:
- Dual POV with 2 narrators. The chapters pretty much alternated, and it was very clear whose mind you were in (this was obviously helped by having 2 narrators so you could tell male versus female voice). The way the characters were written would be very obvious in print as well though.
- The story kept moving without feeling like it was dragging on, with plenty of side quests and funny anecdotes along the way.
- I live for an HEA.

Here's what didn't work for me:
- Brooke was funny, but Chase treated her like she was the funniest human being to have ever existed. Your favorite comedian? Not even close. And he described her like that before he even showed he had any feelings for her.
- There is no reason for 1000 reminders that Chase is reading a book about him without knowing it or constant references to pop culture. Chase thought they were cute from Brooke. I tired of them.
- Brooke internally monologued A LOT. Like, excessively. To the point where I had to pause when listening to try to figure out what was said in her head versus out loud because the tangents in her internal diatribe were LENGTHY. I'm sure this would have worked better in print, but good to note for any audiobook readers out there.
- There seemed to be an excessive use of a few specific words/phrases/descriptors: chortle, eyebrows raising all the way up to the hairline (is this even possible?? asking for a friend), and talking about shit. Like, literal excrement. I feel like one more pass with an editor as good as Chase Dawson could have benefitted the real-life writers as well.
- The 3rd act falling out felt very fast both to happen and to be resolved. The book showed that time was passing as most chapters identified a specific date, but I didn't actually hit the drama until I was over 85% through the audiobook. That means it took less than 15% of the book to create drama and solve it.
- Doing this audiobook as a duet versus dual narrators may have been better. I loved the male's voice for Chase and the female's voice for Brooke, but hearing them try to do each others' characters in their chapters just felt a bit off. Like, the female voice didn't quite sound enough like an impression of the male's voice, and vice versa. I adjusted, but it took me a bit.

3.5 rounded up

Thank you to Max Monroe and NG for access to an ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
