Sara tries to save the life of a patient (Dani Copper) who has been brutally attacked and left for dead. Unable to save her Dani, Sara decides she is not going to let this rest. Will investigates a case with a few similarities to a horrific event in Sara's life fifteen years prior.
How are the two cases connected and what will be found as they did deeper into this case? With the Help of Faith and Amanda ,secrets are slowly revealed leading to the most disturbing outcome of an unimaginable crime spree.
The story moves at an even pace leading up to a slow burn. With attention to details, engaging dialog, edge-of-your seat chills, intense nail-biting moments. I was engrossed from the start, leading up to the shocking conclusion.
After That Night has been one of Karin Slaughter most compelling stories yet. I highly recommend to those who enjoy procedural crime/thriller/suspense.

In "After That Night", Karin Slaughter doesn't just knock on the door of Dr. Sara Linton's past—she kicks it in, bringing a whirlwind of unresolved trauma and suspense. Fifteen years post-assault, Sara's life seems picture-perfect: thriving career, dreamy fiancé (hello, Will Trent), and a past neatly tucked away. But when a young woman, Dani Cooper, lands in her ER after a brutal attack eerily similar to Sara's own, that carefully constructed façade starts to crumble faster than a Jenga tower at a frat party.
Slaughter masterfully intertwines Sara's personal demons with a gripping investigation led by Will and his partner, Faith Mitchell. The trio dives deep into a cesspool of corruption and long-buried secrets, unearthing connections that make Thanksgiving with the in-laws look like a cakewalk. The narrative doesn't shy away from the gritty realities of sexual violence, yet it handles the subject with a sensitivity that ensures the emotional weight is never gratuitous. Some readers have noted that while the plot is intense and compelling, certain scenes are graphically detailed, which might be challenging for some audiences.
While "After That Night" is the eleventh installment in the Will Trent series, Slaughter's storytelling prowess ensures that even newbies can jump in without feeling like they've missed the memo. Longtime fans, however, will revel in the deeper exploration of Sara and Will's relationship dynamics. The pacing is relentless, with twists that keep you guessing until the very end. Balancing suspense with emotional depth, this novel earns a solid four and a half out of five stars, reaffirming Slaughter's knack for crafting crime fiction that's as heart-wrenching as it is thrilling.

Obsessed with this series & these characters!! Such a fantastic installment!! Can we also take a moment for that TWIST!!! Did not see that coming

Karin Slaughter presents a powerful and compelling novel in the 11th installment of the Will Trent series, After That Night. With a dark and disturbing topic of sexual assault, Slaughter crafts a well-written, poignant, and gripping story that keeps the reader turning the pages as the stigma of rape is portrayed as only Slaughter can deliver!
After That Night is the novel that reveals the most horrific night of Dr. Sara Linton’s life. Sara is a prominent, long-standing character that has been a constant in both Slaughter’s Grant County Series and Will Trent Series. 15 years ago, Sara was so brutally raped she was left unable to bear children. Skip to present day and one night while working in the ER, Sara treats a young woman named Dani Cooper, who had been and horribly sexually assaulted. Before succumbing to her vicious injuries, Dani Cooper confides in Sara that she has been drugged and raped. Three years later, Sara is in a court room testifying against a former colleague’s son for Dani’s death.
With a brilliant cast of characters and in-depth investigation by Will Trent and his partner Faith Mitchell, a group of misogynist men are revealed, men with absolutely no respect for women. Slaughter gives an eye opening, in your face, graphic description of rape and its horrific effects on the woman, both physically and mentally.
After That Night is an intense page-turner with its’ twists and turns in just the right places. Slaughter gives her audience exactly what they are looking for in a well written thriller in her Will Trent Series. She acts as a voice for women whose voices need to be heard. I give this novel a 5 out of a 5 star rating.
I would like to thank NetGalley, Karin Slaughter, and HarperCollins Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC. I am leaving an honest and voluntary review.

Dr Sara Linton has to testify in a civil trial about a rape and it takes her down a trail of her past and the present. Arc from NetGalley.

I always enjoy diving into the world with Will Trent. There’s just something about this cast of characters that has my heart and I’m always going to come back for more. This one is pretty intense and has a decent amount of triggers connected to it, including SA, which is something to be aware of before going in as it plays a huge part in this entire storyline. With that being said, I think that the subject matter was handled well and done in a way that allows us to see it from not only the law enforcement view, but the medical and victims point of view as well. It lets us into the minds of everyone involved in the process and it’s interesting. The way it ends is a bit abrupt and it didn’t feel very satisfying after everything that happened, but I guess that’s how it goes in actual cases sometimes too. Either way, if you like the Will Trent series, this is a solid installment and I recommend.

As always, Karin Slaughter continues to disturb and fascinate.
This addition to the Will Trent series only solidifies my love for her deeply upsetting plot points.
I hate to say it's incredibly important to go back to the beginning with the Grant County series and go through all the Will Trent books to have the satisfying conclusion to some years long mysteries.
This series only gets better and better

I love this series and Will Trent is one of my favorite characters. Karin Slaughter does a good job of building up the tension to the point where I can't put the book down until I finish it. My only complaint is that Sara is getting younger with each book. When she was first introduced in Blindsighted, she was a few years older than me. Now she is about fifteen years younger than me.

Karin Slaughter’s After That Night, the latest in the Will Trent series, left me cold. The novel dives into the lives of Sara Linton, Will Trent, and Faith Mitchell as they navigate a chilling web of privilege and abuse in Atlanta’s elite circles.
Fifteen years after Sara’s own trauma, she witnesses the death of a young woman named Dani Cooper, whose brutal assault draws eerie parallels to Sara’s own and she must confront her demons once again.
Despite the promising premise, I found myself unable to connect with the story. The narrative felt overly long and failed to maintain my interest beyond the halfway mark. Some readers may find the twists intriguing, I struggled to engage with the characters or their motivations.
While the audiobook narration added a commendable layer to the experience, it wasn't enough to overcome my overall dissatisfaction. The novel’s excessive violence and disturbing themes left me unsettled. For readers sensitive to sexual violence, I strongly advise caution, as it is a central theme throughout.
Overall, After That Night didn’t live up to my expectations of Slaughter’s gripping storytelling. While it may appeal to fans of police procedurals and intense psychological dramas, it simply wasn’t the right fit for me. 2.5 stars rounded up to 3.
** Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a review copy. The opinions are my own.

Sorry that it took so long before I read this book. Well written, with a lot going on. I immediately started reading her newer book after I finished this one. ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

"After that Night" is a novella by Karin Slaughter that is part of the Grant County series. In this story, Dr. Sara Linton, a pediatrician and medical examiner, finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation that hits close to home. As she delves into the case, Sara uncovers dark secrets and dangerous truths that put her own life at risk.
The novella explores themes of justice, redemption, and the complexities of human relationships, all set against the backdrop of a small town with its own share of secrets and scandals.

After That Night is Karin Slaughter's 11th Will Trent novel, and this is the work of a thriller writer in complete control of plotting, pacing and characterization. Beginning to end, Slaughter keeps the tension taut and the pacing propulsive. This roller-coaster ride kept me riveted, terrified, and ultimately satisfied.

Another great book from slaughter! I love the will Trent series and this one did not disappoint. The characters are deep and the story is always so dark and twisty. Thank you netgalley for my free review copy.

I flew thru this book and loved the story. I love how Sara was able to overcome her past to try to help Dani.

Give me all the Karin Slaughter books you can. I love the way Karin's mind works and her story telling ability is just amazing.
This was a Great Will Trent novel. I love getting back to the start of Sara's story and learning more about her. I would recommend this

I love Karin Slaughter. This book wasn’t my favorite by them, but I still devoured it. I love a good thriller and this one definitely did not disappoint! I highly recommend!

Karin Slaughter maintains her HOME RUN status with this latest installment in her Will Trent Series!! I am always so sad when I reach The End of Ms. Slaughters stories because I don't want to say goodbye to my friends who I won't see until the next book! Its a MUST READ!!

amazing book and well written. i couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to get to the ending. well rounded character and an entertaining plot.

After That Night is well written, well thought out, perfectly paced and riveting. Karin Slaughter does not shy away from brutal scenes or discussions which make her books feel even more real to me. Slaughter not only shows readers the effect that rape has on victims but shows predators as well. Her books may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I love them!
I have been reading her books for years and she continues to deliver time and time again! This book had a nice number of twists, turns and revelations in addition to the tension which snowballed as the book progressed.
I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator did a fantastic job.
Well written, gripping, shocking, tense, and hard to put down!

'After That Night' by Karin Slaughter is a solid mystery, true crime novel. A nice addition to the Will Trent series.
