Thank You Net Galley for Providing me a copy of After That Night. I always have loved Karin's books so I was super excited to read this one. I know I can always count on her writing and this one did just that. It was a super interesting story following Sara and her past and her trying to help solve a case on a certain thing that happened to her 15 years before. (No Spoilers) It was fun going back and forth and learning all this different information and also reading about Will and faith as well as they try to help solve this case.
I definitely enjoyed this one and whoever else loves Karin's books will love it too. Definitely a great well written Mystery thriller.
I felt like this was a series story so I felt kinda lost. But not lost enough to where I couldn’t enjoy it or understand what was going on. The character development was phenomenal. Karin was able to bring light to such a difficult topic and let’s virgins know they are heard and there are people who will fight for them.
I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have stumbled upon this captivating book that seemed to be everywhere. As luck would have it, I managed to secure a copy, and from the very first page, I was engrossed. The author treads a delicate line, masterfully exploring thought-provoking themes without crossing into overly disturbing territory. It's a true testament to the author's skill that they can maintain this balance so effectively.
The characters in the book are a highlight in their own right. Richly developed and beautifully complex, they breathe life into the narrative. Each turn of the page revealed new layers, making them feel like genuine individuals with their own stories to tell.
Though I regret not having experienced the previous books in the series, this installment stands strong on its own. It's a rare achievement when a book leaves you with both a sense of satisfaction and a twinge of longing, and this one certainly managed to do just that. I can't help but wonder about the adventures and stories that I missed in the preceding books, but I'm grateful to have discovered this one.
In summary, this book is a true gem. Its ability to tackle profound themes with finesse, coupled with its remarkable characters, makes it a must-read. I'm left with a sense of admiration for the author's skill and an eagerness to explore their other works
Slaughter does it again, surprise! This one a more in depth look at the traumas of Sara’s past. Fifteen years earlier, Sara was involved in a violent attack. Subsequently, she has put this behind her to lead a happy and successful night. But one night and one patient in the ER changes absolutely everything and there is a race to solve how Sara’s attack from over a decade ago is connected. Propulsive and hard to put down, a must read in the Will Trent series (but aren’t they all?!)
A huge thank you to William Morrow, Netgalley, and Karin Slaughter for an advance copy of After That Night in exchange for an honest review. YOU GUYS, QUEEN KARIN DOES IT AGAIN! I am a through Will Trent stan and this latest installment in the series definitely didnt disappoint. Slaughter has an amazing way of weaving different storylines together and tis book was a prime example of this. This one is available now and YOU NEED TO PICK IT UP!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I didn’t realize when I requested this that is book 11 in a series 🤣 I was just excited for a new Karen Slaughter book. All in all, it was excellent. The pace moves quick, it’s engaging, etc. it has similar themes to some of her other books I have read, especially with fathers and sons being part of an abusive and rapist ring.
One qualm was the confusion and linking of the characters, which is completely on me and my lack of realization this is deep into a series. The second was - how did no one know Will was Sara’s fiancé? They obviously kept tabs on her but no one knew?
Recommended.
I normally love Karen's books but this one was so hard to get through. It dragged and I was constantly looking to see where I was in the book (which is never a good sign). Definitely a slow burn, and I mean slooooooow. Not her best work to be honest. A lot of repeating throughout the story. I think if it was a bit shorter of a book and not as long, it would have helped.
I loved this dark and twisty thriller.
I loved reading False Witness and Pieces Of Her so seeing this one come up I knew I wanted to read or listen to Karin Slaughter's latest. I had not tried the Will Trent series before needless to sav I have now ordered the first two books and am eager to dive in !
We begin with Dr Sara Linton giving evidence at a trial of an incident in her ER that happened 3 years prior.
The similarities between the case she is testifying at and an attack on her 15 ears before start Sara and her partner Will on an investigation of all these crimes - first on the side then as an official investigation. loved the cast of characters. Slaughter writes fully rounded, plausible people who all have their own demons but also an innate sense of right and wrong with the need to provide justice for innocent victims.
This book worked as a stand-alone for me even though it is the 11th book within the Will Trent series, but as already mentioned I now want to read the rest. This was dark and twisty and I was captivated. Fantastic reading!
Dani give Sara information that ends up with Sara called to testify in a civil case against a young man, son of a well known local surgeon, accused of the crime.
While on a break in the trial, Sara meets up with the young man's mother (who is also someone she knew 15 years ago) who drunkenly says that this and Sara's assault are connected.
Sara, her fiance/Special Agent Will, and his partner Faith begin to investigate and it's clear people don't want this information coming out.
This one had me on the edge of my seat and I'm certain I gasped a time or two!
Many thanks to NetGalley and William Morrow for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Karin Slaughter reigns supreme as the queen of crime thrillers. I have actually not yet read any other Will Trent books, but I love that they work well as standalones for those who feel the huge series list can be daunting. This book had me hooked from the start and I truly did not return to my normal life until it was finished (apologies to my dogs, husband, and job..lol) I will definitely be going back and reading more Will Trent and Slaughter's other titles because i did not want this to end!
Another wonderful installment of the Will Trent and Sara Linton series. I love, love, love these characters, and while the situations they seem to find themselves in are increasingly bizarre, I'm here for all of it! I enjoyed the deeper delve into Sara's past experience, the character-building of even Amanda, and look forward to the next book, when Will and Sara get married - probably with a murder or two in the building!
I absolutely loved this one! We finally got the answers we’ve all been waiting for about Sara’s past and it seems like this could be the end of this series and it makes me so sad. I could read about Will and Sara forever - they are one of my favorite couples. I love how seamlessly Karin incorporates medical jargon into the book and it doesn’t even matter if you are in the medical field. She makes it so easy to understand what’s going on anyways. Once again - she has outdone herself and I am hoping we get more from Will Trent!

This is my second book by Karin Slaughter I think? But I will still be reading more books by her hehehe. There are TW associated with this book so please search them before proceeding. I recommend reading her other books in series to understand the book better and I will say the content is pretty heavy but less gory and violent than her other book like the Pretty Girls. Has great writing and the book was kind of slow at first but the pacing catches on and I was like omg.
Thank you Netgalley and William Morrow , for this e-book ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Sara is a doctor who is happily engaged to Will who is a police officer. Sara is working the trauma ER one night (which is weird cause shes in peds) when a young girl comes in after being attacked. Sara works to save her and promises to help find who did this. All of this brings up Sara’s own past rape and how these two events are tied together. With Will and his partner, Faith, they go to work trying to find out who is doing this and how to prove it.
As I said before, I didn’t know this was a series until I started this one which is #11 in the series. 😳 It was easy to follow and I didn’t feel lost at all. I do think it would be cool to have the background from all of the books but it worked perfectly fine reading this one on it’s own. I really enjoyed this author and hope to read more in the future. I like police procedural books and enjoyed the crazy ride this one went on. It is heavy and I don’t normally talk triggers but this is all about multiple rapes so be aware of that going in. I loved Will and Sara together and thought Faith was also a great character. Would definitely recommend!
Thanks @netgalley and the publisher for an arc for review.
Loved this book so dang much. I love that you don't need to read all of the books in this series to understand it all perfectly. I loved how it all tied together. I loved the MC and her determination. This is one of my favs from Karin Slaughter. Highly recommend!
There are no words to describe how phenomenal any of Karin Slaughter's books are. I will say, they are not for the faint of heart and they can be intense, but they are SO GOOD. The story lines never miss and she keeps you on the edge of your seat. I also enjoy that this is part of a huge series, but as someone newer to her work, I can read it as a standalone and not be confused. Highly HIGHLY recommend her work, just always read any trigger warnings available to be as prepared as possible.
Wow! This was addicting. I do think that if I read the first books I would have felt a stronger connection to the character, however I still was able to read and understand a good chunk of what was happening.
Please check trigger warnings as this is a very dark read. I will be honest and say it was sometimes a bit tough to get through because we are spared very little details in some things. The way that Karin writes books really sucks you into the story and this one was done just as well!!
This was dark and disturbing - exactly what I expect when reading a Karin Slaughter book. I love this series and these characters. This story was a lot, but the way she writes these heavy storylines and backs it up with engrossing characters, it was such an enjoyable read. I was engrossed the whole time.
Karin Slaughter is a mastermind. Just another amazingly twistedly written mystery. I love Sarah Linton and her strong female character. I couldn’t put this book down, from start to finish, another emotionally powerful story & fans of Karin Slaughter are sure to love this installment in the series. Thank you Net Galley & William Morrow for the advanced copy of this book.
I loved the newest installment of the Will Trent series. After that Night has all the elements you've come to expect in a Karin Slaughter book. It was gritty and graphic in nature due to the subject matter. I did appreciate though that this book while dealing with the matter of rape focused more on the police work and didn't get too focused on the acts. I read several of the series out of order and I've been recently listening to them all in order. But KS does a good job with each book being its own story so that you can read them out of order and still get enough information to know what's happening. I think there is still a few books that I need to listen to but I was happy to see Will, Sara, Faith, and Amanda working together without also having to deal with Angie or Lena. I can't stand either of those women. I've also watched the TV series and I have to say I see Faith and Amanda as their TV characters which screw with your head when your reading details on them yet Will, I still see as I always have in my head and not as his TV character. Anyway, if you like KS or are a fan of the Will Trent series, you'll enjoy After that Night.
