Very cute book! Nice vocabulary used within the book and has the Magic School Bus vine going for it. Just doesn’t have a place in my class lessons. Would use in our classroom library.

A great read for those just starting with chapter books. Lots of fun in this story. Will be enjoyed by both boys and girls.

This book was so adorable, I loved everything about it, the illustrations were so well done, they suited the book perfectly, the story was amazing as well, even thought is very short I could really connect with the characters and feel theirs struggles.
I’m sure the kids are going to be just as enthralled with this amazing book as I was.
I will definitely recommend!

Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy

I would have loved to love this story as Mary Anning is such an inspirational figure, but I am not too sure about this one. The story begins with a visit to a retirement home by the children who stumbles across a painting and then get sucked in a time-travelling trip to meet the real Mary Anning.

The story is a bit cliched and I think children may find it hard to bond with a story that begins in a retirement home.

The Dinosaur Woman is an exciting story that follows Alex, Ella and Layla as they bond and become ‘The Discovery Kids’ while interacting in “The Discovery Casa” a senior living centre. While exploring the centre, the trio are swept into a painting and travel back to 1830 and meet early palaeontologist Mary Anning. I love dinosaurs and as someone who is passionate about female historical figures, I quite enjoy reading about Mary Anning and thought I would pick this one up. After reading, I think it is definitely something I could revisit and read with the (growing number) of dinosaur obsessed children in my family.

There is a decent number of words per page, really good for developing young readers. The imagery is really strong, making it easy to picture the setting and would really engage young readers.

This book can serve as a great educational experience for a middle grade audience. There was a lot of terminology that would be new to young readers (palaeontologist, astronaut, engineer, endangered) but I think this is fantastic in vocabulary building and a great conversation starter with young audiences and the adults in their life. Additionally, the inclusion of Layla’s Abuelita served as an additional education experience for young readers who might not know very much about culture in Panama. The environmental concisous messaging in the book was great, again in starting a conversation with young people and making them aware of how we can impact our environment. The story is littered with so many dinosaur fun facts and points out facts on chronology, different dinosaur species,

This short story is great for young readers curious about the past. With just the right combination of new and exciting information about the past and world around us, and fun action and antics that the Discovery Kids got up to. It gave me original Horrible Histories (the animated cartoon that was on TV in the early to mid 2000’s) and The Magic Schools vibes.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review, these thoughts are all my own.
