“It's you,” he says. “It's you or it's no one.”

Sloane goes on a blind date with Roman, in place of her twin sister. These two hit it off, as hard as Sloane tries to be uninterested for her sister's sake. I really enjoyed things between Sloane and Roman, and the chemistry that was there. There was angst, and a satisfying slow burn. These two were meant to be, and had the love of art in common. I'm glad Sloane's sister changed her selfish ways, cause she irritated me the entire book 😅

You Or Someone Like You is a contemporary romance from bestselling author Winter Renshaw. This was my first time reading anything from this author and this book had been on my TBR for a long time but I was very quickly captivated by her writing and the story which ultimately ended up being one of my favourite reads of the year so far. The narrative was well-paced and so compelling that I read it in a single sitting.

Sloane was a fantastic protagonist with a big heart and kind soul. How she was so patient with her sister I’ll never know, her calm temperament was admirable. Roman was a fantastic MMC who I quickly fell in love with. His character had so many layers to it which were gradually revealed over the course of the book, as he starts off really grumpy and gradually starts to soften as he falls first and harder for Sloane. He’s a devoted single dad to two daughters (who doesn’t love a girl dad?!) and his love for both them and his late wife shines through his character and everything he does in the book which was a truly beautiful read. The most powerful aspect of the book was Roman navigating trying to make sense of the fact he is developing romantic feelings for someone for the first time since the passing of his late wife. He gradually allows himself to love again and that was beautiful. Reading the author’s afterword brought tears to my eyes as she explains the message behind the book. She wanted anyone who has ever loved and lost – but particularly her own brother – to know that “loving someone new doesn’t mean you love the one you lost any less”.

Their relationship was built at a really good pace, with their connection growing stronger and stronger over the course of the story and them bonding over a shared passion for art. One of my favourite aspects to the story was how mature both Roman and Sloane were, which was a breath of fresh air to see from characters in a romance book. Roman’s eventual realisation about the reality of the fake identity plot was mature and it made the (spoiler alert) third act breakup bearable, even to someone who hates third act breakups with a sweet passion. The eventual spicy scenes were well written and felt realistic.

In terms of supporting characters, Margaux (the real one) was grating to say the least but her selfishness was really well written.

Overall, You Or Someone Like You is a compelling, powerful and heartwarming romance novel exploring learning to love again after loss and finding connections in the most surprising places. It is the first romance in a while which has really hit me right in the feels and is going to stay with me for some time.

I am forever a sucker for a Winter Renshaw Romance! I love that none of her romances are the same. The vibes, the tropes the structures of the story. Some more angsty then others while others more swoony. This one falls more on the swoony side.

This is what happens when you Twin sister cant show up for the blind date she promised her boss, shed go on. Sloane our heroine is the complete opposite of her sister Margaux in everyway possible (Besides looks). She is forced into going on a date with Roman our hero, the date goes terribly... but what happens at the end is the catalyst for our story. These 2 have a bond unlike any other, fate has brought them together on more level then one... there romance is easy... but will the secret Sloane keeps get in the way?

I definitely had the feels while reading this, its the type of story you can read in a day and feel fulfilled once you are done. This is the story of 2 people meant for one another. I definitely recommend.

This book was lovely!! Sloane has to pretend to be her twin sister and go on a date with Roman. However, Sloane is not happy about this as Roman is the same man that pretty much caused her to get fired from her job. Now this was three years ago but some wounds dont heal. However, Sloane knows she misjudged Roman and starts to fall in love with him. It was interesting to read how she navigated having to tell Roman it wasnt her sister but her. Overall, great book and cannot wait to read more :)

This was a decent book but definitely not my favorite. I tried to read it several times and I just couldn’t get through it. The fourth time was the charm and I did finally get a chance to read this and I did actually really enjoy it. I guess I just was t in the right place the first 3 times

I love a good twin swap story. WR gave us a good one. I liked Roman and Sloane's story. It was so interesting the way he starts to realize this wasn't the girl she portrays herself to be. It was a fast and good read.

You or Someone Like You by Winter Renshaw was a cute read! I love Winter and her books. I love reading interesting books, and this one was. This is a twin swap, and I've only read one of those, but it was such a fun read. Congratulations, and great job, Winter!

Roman and Sloane were a fantastic couple to read about! I loved them so much. I hope you all will, too.

This tale of twin sisters, unintentionally messing with the heart of a rich single dad, has the potential to be one of my all time favorite books ever. It was beautiful. It tugged at my heartstrings.

The story of Roman and Sloane in You or Someone Like You kept in an anxious state for the vast majority of it. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed their getting to know each other --how they initially didn't think there was anything there but took a chance. Or how their initial non-date dates were definitely dates and they were definitely interested in the other. I also enjoyed the back story of each of them and getting to know what made each of them who they were. But honestly, the wait for the deception to be revealed kept my anxiety high and the longer it took for it to happen, the more I could think of how Sloane would get caught. So good but so anxiety producing. Gah.

Quick, fun read, with an author's note that will hit you in the heart. Grab it and enjoy.

You or Someone Like You is the second book that I have read by Winter Renshaw, and she is quickly becoming one of my new favorite authors. The premise of the story – identical twins switching places for a blind date – intrigued me and I was soon immersed into the book and wasn’t able to put it down. Great read! #YouorSomeoneLikeYou #NetGalley

YOU OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU By Winter Renshaw

Being an identical twin has its perks, but when my sister asked me to sub in for a date with Roman Bellisario, I wasn’t exactly thrilled. Sure, he’s sinfully handsome and successful, but he also got me fired from my dream job three years ago.
This time, my sister’s promotion is riding on this date, so I have to say yes. And as it turns out, we’re strangely perfect for each other. I sell art. He collects it. We’re both obsessed with the same obscure, mysterious artist that most people don’t even know exists.
Roman is guarded, though, and I can understand why. He’s a widowed single dad. But as one date leads to another, he starts to let me in, and I can’t help but fall for him.
The problem is Roman still thinks I’m my sister. Is our twin swap going to be the best thing that ever happened to me and Roman—or the lie that tears us apart?

😊What i liked -

✔ Twin Swap/Single Parent/Forced Proximity.
✔ I liked the plot.
✔ Roman and Sloane getting to know each other was a treat.
✔ Loved Roman as a single parent.

🤔What could have been better -

✔ Margaux as a character was really irritating, so that did bring my reading experience down and it didn't help that Sloane was helpless in front of her twin.

I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed "You or Someone Like You". I was seriously thinking about this book months after I first read it. I seriously think that this is one of the best look a like, twin switch books ever and I loved the idea that our main characters Sloane and Roman had a past where they didn't know how much an art sale gone wrong could cause ripples to their present history.

I loved that this romance revolved around art and the passion that both characters had for it. I think it gave them both a reason for the passion when the relationship went south because of "mistaken" identities and not talking to each other. I'm so glad that it worked out and Margaux became a bit better after be talked to about how she was too blame too.

Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for giving me a copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I’m indifferent to it? Roman had my sympathies for his grieving but the constant waxing poetic about life and death and the little moments and what not was too much for me. Sloane was a doormat when it came to her sister. She literally said “I should be used to her selfish ways by now” but nope that’s when you cut off contact with her to protect your piece. Margaux needed to be punched in the throat for the schemes and using everyone, including her twin, to get her way despite the consequences being spelled out for her and charging ahead anyway

This is a good book. The two main characters are Sloane and Roman. Sloane has a twin sister and she works at an art gallery. Roman is the CEO of a family business, widower and father to two daughters. Sloane’s sister wants Sloane to go a blind date with Roman. Roman’s aunt wants Roman to go a date with her coworker Sloane’s sister. Sloane pretends to be her sister with Roman. They start dating. It is hard for Sloane to not tell Roman. He finds out that Sloane has been lying. The work it out and fall in love.

This was a nice story about a second chance at love after losing your first love. Roman is a devoted father of two girls but what I did find strange was one of the daughters had an accident while out with a relative and he went rushing off to the hospital to be with her as you would but then no more was said on the matter as if it didn't happen or the author forgot she wrote that scene. Sloan's sister was selfish throughout most of the book but realised her bad behaviour and changed for the better towards the end of the story.

This is one of the better twin stories that I've read. The idea behind the swapping seemed simple until it wasn't.
Sloane and Roman were really good characters.
One thing I enjoyed was that Roman wasn't your typical alpha main character. He was a bucket of mush when it comes to his daughters and he had a sensitive side. He definitely seemed like someone you would find in real life. And the way that he sought out answers at the end instead of just giving up was so refreshing for a romance story. Sloane's dedication to her not-so-deserving sister was admirable. How could she not fall for the perfect guy for her that just happened to drop into her lap. This story was a bit of a car crash that you saw coming and new would get messy but I really liked it.

You or Someone Like You by Winter Renshaw is a contemporary romance that can be read as a standalone. The story has that twin swap theme to it and while I wasn't a big fan of the sister, I absolutely loved the main characters. Sloan and Roman are absolutely perfect together. They are so devoted and passionate about their arts and families and you could feel how strong their connection was. This was a great slow-burn romance with a lot of substance. If you're after a quick heartwarming comfort read, this is the story for you.
