Sat down this morning and read this in one sitting. It was my first Winter Renshaw book but it definitely won’t be my last. Initially I was skeptical of the twin date switch storyline but I ended up really liking this story. The way that Roman and Margaux (Sloane) bonded over art was interesting and their relationship felt very organic. I did wish that Sloane revealed herself a little sooner but I guess that’s kinda the point, right? I also really liked how Roman called out the real Margaux for how she manipulated the situation and her sister. Overall a good, quick read that I really enjoyed.

I read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I wish I'd written this review before I read the acknowledgements. I usually just give them a cursory glance, but something caught my eye. Next thing I know, I'm nearly crying about the cruelty of life, but also the realities of love. Thank you Winter Renshaw, for being strong and writing a story about love, simple and true. The plot was sad, but also, mostly fun; the chemistry between the two main characters undeniable.

One word comes to mind when I finished reading this. "Lush" that's the word. This story was lush, with feelings, with heat, with the storyline.

This is the story of Sloan, Margaux, and Roman. This is the story of a twin trick that became cruel. This is the fast-paced story of love, loss, and what you do for your family.

I liked the air of mystery surrounding the characters. I wanted to shake some characters and smack some others (you'll see what I am talking about when you read the story).

Set in the big city and the small art world community, I found myself wishing I could really "see" the art. Ms. Renshaw has the talent to draw readers into the worlds she creates and doesn't let go until she is ready.

I was sad to see this story end, but it ended beautifully, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

YOU OR SOMEONE LIKE YOU
WINTER RENSHAW

We’ve all heard about twins switching placing in books and in movies. Usually it’s teenagers. Remember Lindsey Lohan in the Parent Trap? Of course, you do. Well, now we find the adult version in Winter Renshaw’s latest book, You or Someone Like You.

In Someone Like You, we meet Sloane and Margoux, two identical twins on the outside but so very different on the inside. Margoux who is in the throes of a stomach virus talks her twin, Sloane, into impersonating her on a blind date arranged by her boss. Margoux tells Sloane that she has to act bland and boring so that the man won’t even consider a second date. The date is Margoux’s widowed nephew who is extremely good looking, a single dad to two precocious little girls, definitely not interested in reentering the dating pool, and happened to get Sloane fired from a previous job. Everything goes according to plan until Sloan and Roman meet up walking home from the date (from hell). When they reach her apartment building, Roman is befuddled seeing Sloane’s keychain and the building itself. He is sure his dead wife is sending him signs.

You or Someone Like You is a charming story. You will find yourself falling for the main characters as they traverse their own epic love story. Roman is sure his dead wife is sending signs that Sloane is the one. Sloane is riddled with guilt that she is lying to this man who has so many layers. And self-centered Margoux is only concerned that Sloane keep up the façade until she gets the promotion that she “wholeheartedly” deserves. How can two twins who look so much alike be so entirely different?

The contrast between the two sisters shows the author’s depth in building her characters. The storyline is as simple as it is complex. The hero feels betrayed but comes to realize that the twin for him is not the duplicitous vixen that her sister is.

I thoroughly enjoyed this charming book and I know that you would too.

Winter Renshaw is really good at drawing the reader into a story quickly and effectively! Unfortunately, my attention started to wane eventually, and I was surprised that she kept up the ruse with the twin-switch for so long. The forgiveness and HEA came a bit too quickly for me.
I liked Roman a lot—a man who is so dedicated to his children will always be on my good side. I enjoyed Sloane’s character too, and how she fit with Roman and his girls, but I wish she didn’t pander to her sister quite so much.
Even with the added stab in the heart provided by the afterword, this one let me down a bit, but your mileage will probably vary.

You or Someone Like You is one of those books that leaves you so emotionally raw you need a moment to compose your thoughts! I finished this book in one sitting in the early morning hours and emotions where so all over the place I needed to get my thoughts together before I wrote this review!

Sloane and Roman are thrown together by deceit and through chance they keep finding themselves thrown together!

I just can’t find the words to describe fully what this story made me feel. These two characters are wounded in so many ways and at first they didn’t seem like they would connect but fate kept bringing them back and over time the pull would not be denied.

In the end I love how everything came about and how they helped the other find the peace they both deserved! I am being a little thinly veiled because I don’t want to reveal anything! You truly have to experience everything side by side with the characters.

I’ve loved all the psychological thrillers writes by this author under the pseudonym Minka Kent.
So I thought I’d give one of her romance books a try. This book was quite good. I enjoyed it start to finish. It kept my interest and entertained me.

A charming contemporary romance! This was my first Winter Renshaw read and it was quite enjoyable. Roman and Sloane were very charismatic and the chemistry was quite good. It was fairly easy to see how the storyline was going to play out, but I cared enough about the characters to carry on and found it enjoyable anyways. Will definitely recommend to fans of contemporary romance. Not super spicy, but good chemistry.

I feel weird how everything Roman do still moving around his late wife, meeting with Sloane he still imagine Emma, choose gallery because Emma like it. Maybe author try to make destiny thing buy the vibe i get Sloane just shadow of his wife. Then when everything blow up, Sloane appologize, Roman response was.. yuck.. then Sloane respon to Roman in the gallery..why girl.. till the end he still compare Emma and Sloane. Double yuck.

Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.

Roman and Sloane. Roman lost his wife years ago and still has no desire to date, but his Aunt sets him up. When Sloane’s twin sister gets sick one night, she convinces Sloane to go on her blind date for her. So Roman and Sloane end up at dinner together and don’t exactly hit it off. But as time goes on, they grow closer and closer. But there are secrets being kept.

Very lovely and sweet story. From the beginning, you want nothing but happiness for Roman. As we get to know both Roman and Sloane, we see both of them grow as well as their chemistry and want them to find love. Would have loved to see a bit more towards the end vs the 3 year skip but still a beautiful story.

Side note- the Afterward from the Author is heartbreaking and I truly wish her dear brother all the best in the world! Such a difficult time for him and the family. Best wishes and prayers!

I read the ARC of You or Someone Like You by Winter Renshaw. Pub Date: 18th of July 2023.

Themes: slow burn, twins swap, grief and healing, second chance at love

First off, I needed this book to get me into a happy reading mood again. It's not a super long book (268 pages), so you can devour it in no time. Perfect for those of us who want a satisfying read without wanting a romance dragging on for too long.

In this story, we meet Sloane, who has to replace her identical twin sister, Margaux, to go on a blind date with Roman. Roman believes he is talking with Margaux. They have similar interests and that one date leads to another, and soon things start to get complex as emotions and feelings start to emerge.

The characters in this book are absolutely lovable. Sloane is smart, down-to-earth, and I liked her from the get-go. Roman is a man dealing with the grief and pain of losing his wife three years ago while taking care of his two daughters. He hasn't been happy in a long time. I love how he cherishes his wife's memories in little ways instead of the typical 'I forget my wife as soon as someone new sparks my interest' kind of stories. It's not a standard insta-love. It's the slow, mature kind of moving on that makes it more believable. I loved it.

Overall, this book is a sweet and heartwarming story about mature adults finding love, learning to grow, and discovering happiness in unexpected ways. It'll leave you feeling happy and believing that everything works out in the end, even when we doubt it😊

Thanks to Netgalley and Amazon Publishing for this ARC copy. This is my honest review.

The whole twin swap trope isn't my favorite, I'll admit. But I give books with that plot a fair chance if the synopsis sounds good. After all, this one had a single dad and what could be better than a hero who takes care of his kids? What annoys me though and makes me knock off a star or two is when the deception goes on for most of the book, which was the case with this book.

Roman doesn't find out about the twin swap until about 90-95% into the book. By that point, I'm just growing irritated and hating Margaux for her selfishness. I really thought Roman should have made Sloane work harder to earn his trust back. He got over it way too easily to be believable.

I enjoyed Sloane and Roman as a couple. I liked their characters, although I thought Sloane lacked a backbone when it came to her twin Margaux. I liked that they shared a love of art and really got each other. I loved that Roman was a doting father to his two little girls. And I even love that the author didn't make this all about Roman's wife who died tragically. But in the end, did Roman REALLY know Sloane if she was pretending to be her perky and always needs to be perfect twin sister? I have my doubts and that's why I can't rate this higher. The author went from discovering the twin swap to them being married in just a few chapters and I feel like we really missed out on reading about how their relationship developed after the make up.

A very moving story that highlights loss, acceptance and perception. It explores the difficulties faced by someone who is perceived to be the “good twin” and the hardships faced by relationships when one partner has suffered a loss and the other partner isn’t giving full disclosure. Slow-paced at times. Enfuriating at others.

it amazes me how love finds those even when they are not looking. Fate and destiny truly play a role. Roman is a widowed father of 2 girls. Sloane is a twin sister to Margaux who works with Romans aunt. When the aunt sets up Margaux with Roman for a blind date- she accepts in hopes of getting the promotion at work. Fate enters and when Margaux is sick and can't make the date, she sends her twin Sloane on the date. I loved how the "signs" and common love of art bring these two together in the most loving way.

Winter always delivers on character development and a great story. Most poignantly- the afterward, made me love the story even more. Love is an amazing gift and when you find it- never take it for granted and cherish every day!

**Sigh** This book.... I've just finished it but I already want to re-read it!

I read it right away as soon as it hit my kindle! Read it overnight! Swooned. Cried. Laughed...

Love Sloane and Roman! The pacing of the story, the growth of the characters as the pages turned... how the story unfolded... it was all swoon-worthy.

There really isn't stopping love no matter how much you try to avoid it. If you're a fan of The Girl in the Painting by Max Monroe, or just a plain romantic sap like me... then this is the book to pick up!

This is my first read by Winter Renshaw but I really enjoyed it! The MMC is a widower with two young daughters and the FMC took her sisters place on a blind date. Both start off being open about not wanting a relationship, but as you can guess it progresses into more. Will read Renshaw again!

I was hooked right from the start. I loved the way the author dealt with the reality of grief while keeping the story positive and hopeful. I also liked the way Margaux was made to face the reality of her ways. Sloane and Roman were such endearing characters, you couldn't help but root for them. Then as their romance grew and they started to fall, I got so nervous - what would the fallout be like? But they actually stopped to think and communicate! All my anxiety was worth it for their perfect HEA.

So this is like... a grown-up parent trap, but the identical twins are switching to date a guy. When Margaux is too sick to go out on a date with her boss' nephew, she asks her sister, Sloane, to go in her place. She swears she would never ask her to do it if she didn't think this would give her a leg-up on a promotion. Obviously, this has disaster written all over it. Especially when Sloane realizes how much her and Roman have in common, especially their love of art, and catches feelings for him. And of course, after not dating for 3 years, he catches feelings for Sloane. This totally bummed me out once I found out why Roman was single- but then he is also keeping from secrets from Sloane. Their chemistry was amazing and Sloane really brings Roman to life again- but I felt like I spent majority of the book waiting for the other shoe to drop. It didn't ruin the story for me, I just found myself saying "okay, NOW tell him!" Also, Margaux is a narcissistic little troll. Cute, quick read.
