Such a stretch of a storyline. I loved the idea of an office pup, but it’s so unrealistic for a tech guru who is obsessed with his job. The plot was good, relationships were being developed, but then when the loving part came in, the story ended! It had such a premise for good storytelling, but it just didn’t work. I loved Scarlett and how smart of a woman she was (not a damsel in distress). Overall, pretty good story in the end!
Scarlett is an executive assistant to one of the owners of Triada, a leading tech company, by day and a student by night. She is working on the final project, but it's not going all that well.
Then her boss asks her to take notes at the meeting with other executives, including Nick Hart. He is one of the owners, her boss's brother and has a reputation for being very cold.
Scarlett takes notes, with very creative names for all involved. She plans to review them before getting to the boss, but then Nick asks her to hand them over right away. She panics and flees, Nick later accesses the notes and her insights, as well as insults spark his interest.
Tensions are running high, especially with high anticipated lunch. And then they get roped into planning a party for Valentine's Day, one of the suggestions Scarett has been secretly stuffing into the company's suggestion box. With each meeting, the sparks between them fly. With more time together, she starts to discover what lies beneath the icy exterior and she likes what she sees, a lot. :)
A steamy, love story, fun of LOL moments and there is even a grand gesture at the end!
I got the ARC, all thoughts are my own
The Nick and Scarlett’s meet-hate was a jaw dropping moment. The tension these two MCs have is so good, you might want them to kiss already but the back and forth they have going is just as good.
First off, I love workplace romances but not in the boss-employee sense. In Not Today, Cupid, Scarlett is hired by Miles, a co-owner of a tech company. In order to help out his brother Nick, Miles requests Scarlett to assist him. This was a fast cute romance. There's puppies and photo booths and cupid's costumes. If your idea of a good time is a lovey dovey romance, this is for you.
Thank you #NetGalley and Entangled for the ARC. As I am my own person, all the above opinions are my own.
This was a cute quick read. I do feel like Scarlett and Nick didn’t actually get that close throughout the story and it kind of wasn’t believable how in love the suddenly were. I think this could have benefited from a few more heartfelt moments with them. I also hated the ended, but that only because I personally despised big cheesy public declarations of love. I feel like those moments are more personal and heartfelt in private, instead of in front of a crowd. So it was a bit cringey lol but if you’re looking a quick and light romance to read with a little of spice, this is from you!
I loved the first book about the Hart Brothers, Miles and Miles of You, and was so excited to read the second book focused on Nick! Miles and Miles of you was one of my favorite books last year. So reading about Nick and Scarlett this time didn't leave me disappointed. There was plenty of banter, excellent chemistry and spice. I was hoping to have an update on Lucy and Miles but there wasn't much. I will definitely be recommending this book just like the last one.
Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC, Entangled: Amara for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.
I wanted to love this book, but I just couldn't get behind the main characters at all. I found the male lead to be tedious with his control issues, and the female lead would do things that he definitely wouldn't appreciate, let alone find cute in real life. The spicy parts were good though.
I really enjoyed the first book in Jennifer Bonds' The Harts series, and this story was another fun read.
Nick and his brothers own a tech company and he's known for being cold and work focused. Scarlett is the assistant for Nick's brother, and she's also the one putting ideas into the company suggestion box. They feel like opposites, but they fit well together. I liked how their connection built as they spent more time together. As this is a dual POV you do get to know and understand both Nick and Scarlett well, and it was interesting seeing their views on one another change.
This was a fun, entertaining read and I can't wait for the third book!
I really enjoyed Miles and Miles of You and was excited to read Nick's story. What I love about these books it's that they are fun reads with plenty of banter, sass, and steam! I hope there's a third book with Beck's story.
This book was super cute! An easy read with excellent character development and descriptions that had me completely living in the story. It was a great rom com with some racy parts that heated it up. It was just the story I’d been looking to read.
It’s the second book in a series but I didn’t feel like I needed to read the first one before this. It stood alone well.
I’m very impressed with this author and will pick up more of her books in the future.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book.
A huge thanks to Entangled for my complimentary copy and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
Not Today, Cupid is book 2 in the Harts series but I went in blind having not read the first book. The book follows one of the brothers Nick Hart who is an obsessive control freak and a tech wizz. Because of his controlling nature he cannot keep an assistant so he is assigned his brother's assistant for a while. Sparks fly when they have to work together on something for Valentines, It's a perfect read for lovers of grumpyxsunshine trope.
Thanks to Entangled Publishing, Netgalley and the author for an ARC of this book. I am leaving this unbiased review voluntarily.
This was exactly the book I needed to read today. It's light-hearted, funny and so swoony that I got to escape out of the doldrums of life for a few sweet hours and float on a cloud.
I absolutely loved the characters as they are so individual. Scarlett is not your typical heroine - she doesn't immediately come across as absolutely gorgeous, whip-smart and ambitious but she kinda is all those things really.
Nick is a hard nut to crack but totally worth it. I loved their banter and how they brought out the best in each other. I also loved the way that, basically the whole reason they fell in love is because of a French Bulldog called Oreo - cuuuuute,.
So, this book is the first I have read by this author and centres around three brothers. I simply have to read the first one now, Miles and Miles of you, and I already know the one about quiet, clever Beck will be my favourite of all.
This was a quick, fun and charming read that made me smile - like I said, just what I needed.
The Hart Brothers series is one I'm really enjoying. When I saw Not Today, Cupid was Nick's story, I jumped on it. It was a quick and fun read. Even though some of the plot devices were a bit predictable, I still enjoyed it.
CEO Nick Hart aka Hartless has a reputation for being cold and callous. Scarlett Evans is Nick's brother's new executive assistant but she is pulled to help Nick since he can't manage to keep an assistant for very long due to his challenging personality. When these two find themselves getting to know one another while working together on a project, the unexpected happens....they discover they're attracted to each other. What happens after that is challenging at best. After all, Nick is the CEO and Scarlett is Miles' executive assistant. They have a ton of reasons why a relationship between the two of them would be a horrible idea.
The book was a little fluffy and some things were a bit unrealistic, such as the fact that no one seemed to worry about an executive assistant dating the CEO of the company. But, I still really liked both Nick and Scarlett. They had good back stories that made you pull for them both. Now, I'll wait patiently for the next in the series....because there's one more brother...Beck....and he needs his own book too.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to review it and the opinions contained within are my own.
This was a quick steamy office romance. I loved the cover and it drew me in. I had also read the first book in this series of standalones, so I was excited to be able to read the next title. There was good banter, chemistry and sass and that's all you can ask for in a fun, sexy romance!
Another great read by Jennifer Bonds! Can't wait to read the next book in the series when it comes out. If you enjoy enemies-to-lovers, snarky MC's, and HEA's then you will enjoy this book!
Nick Hart runs his company the same way he goes through life - calculated and controlled. His brothers normally handle the intra-personal part of the job, but when they challenge him to plan a Valentine's Day party for their 3000 employees, Nick sets out to proved them wrong. Nick's partner-in-planning, Scarlett, seems set on wreaking havoc in his carefully ordered life, but it may turn out to be just what he needs.
I really enjoyed the uber-contemporary setting of the book, with the focus on Nick's tech company in Austin, Texas. So many romances take place in fantastical settings like bakeries or flower shops, but this one felt like a story that could actually be happening right now, where a couple is enjoying a date over tacos. Similarly, Scarlett's career goals felt realistic, and the description of her graduate school courses hit all the right marks. I can't forget to mention Oreo, the real star of the show, but this was one part where I felt the book escaped reality. Regardless of relationship, I don't think it's ok to gift a pet to someone as a surprise, especially when that person is a superior at your company.
The working relationship between Nick and Scarlett was what I disliked most in this story, primarily the times when Nick used his position to go into Scarlett's personal files. Yes, they were technically company property, but it still threw up some red flags about privacy and trust. Additionally, I thought Nick's scene at the party was cringy, not romantic, and it felt way too out of character for him. I believe people can change, but not to the point where he no longer cares what his employees think or what appearance he's putting on as their boss.
Nick and Scarlett. This is a fun read, a bit silly, very light and fluffy, complete with grand gestures, and miscommunication. But, it's also is a gem. Scarlett is smart and feisty, well organised and good at her job. She's underemployed and working to make a name and career for herself. Nick meantime learns not to underestimate her. His character has more growth and they certainly are good together. Steamy and respectful, especially with the power imbalance from their work relationship. A great read!
How do you convince a stubborn, cold fish of a tech mogul to help you plan a Valentine's Day social? With no apologies and a side order of charm.
Not Today, Cupid is the second installment in the The Harts series and, of course, I started in the middle again. Told from dual perspectives it follows the volatile and growing relationship between the controlling and antisocial CEO of Triada Nick "Hartless" Hart and Scarlett Evans, an outspoken and hardworking grad student/executive assistant with a larger-than-life personality. The story is located in Austin, Texas, mostly based at a tech company run by three brothers, Nick, Miles, and Beck Hart.
Opposites attract in this romantic comedy. Nick is controlling and gruff and is good at his job. As co-founder of his successful tech company, he is focused on a new launch and wants nothing to get in the way. Enter the snarky Ms. Scarlett Evans who unknowingly left her opinion of Nick all over her meeting notes, and it left a mark. To prove her wrong about him, he agrees to partner with her to plan a Valentine's social to boost the morale of the company. Little did the meticulous and orderly man know that he just welcomed some chaos into his life.
Scarlett is funny and smart as she slowly maneuvers the uptight, yet vulnerable Nick into trying out her suggestion box ideas like adopting an adorable French bulldog named Oreo for an office pet and, of course, the Valentine's social with a memorable photo booth pic. Scarlett is changing her life in the big city as she comes into her own and learns to stand up for herself. thanks to Nick. The chemistry is strong between these two which leads to "just sex" and eventually catching feelings. But Scarlett has a secret that backfires as Nick's fear of getting close to anyone makes him push her away. Nick's past has caused him to shut down personally and bury himself in his work. Underneath the grumpy CEO is a good and vulnerable man who is devoted to his family and afraid to lose what he loves. Nick's big gesture at the social is cringeworthy and cute at the same time as he wins Scarlett back with the help of Oreo, the loveable puppy.
Nick and his brothers, Miles and Beck have a great rapport. I found it interesting they were all adopted by a single mom, Mama Hart, who is a force to be reckoned with and has so much love for her sons.
The story was slow at the beginning and got better right after Scarlett meets Mama Hart giving more depth to Nick's character. With that being said, I loved the banter and chemistry between the main characters, and who doesn't love a cute little puppy with an attitude?
Thank you to Ms. Bonds for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
I loved this! And it game me my new favorite word "Snacktastic" lol I love this. This is so good. Scarlett and Nick are one of my favorite book couples.
I just reviewed Not Today, Cupid by Jennifer Bonds. #NotTodayCupid #NetGalley

Thanks to netgalley and publisher for the arc!
I really enjoyed this grumpy x sunshine/ billionaire/employee rom com! It had spice humor and heart! The convos between him and the dog had me cackling at times and she was hilarious too! We love a grumpy man with a heart of gold too ladies! Read this book for laughs love and spice. I've never read this author before but ironically I had the first book in this series about his brother and his love downloaded but hadn't gotten to yet so read this a bit out of order but she's just mentioned and he appears throughout book because it's his brother obviously.
