I love discovering a new favorite author. Jennifer Bonds is an author whose books just work for me and make me happy in all the right ways. The characters have full fledged personalities and motivations. The banter is sassy and quick. The romance is sweet and done in a way that I find completely believable. What more could you ask for in a contemporary romance?
Book boyfriend - check, cute funny moments - check, love story you wish would happen to you - check. Romantic comedy perfection - check check! Nick Hart is the stone cold fox that you wish you would encounter but rarely do, if only this was reality.
Another workplace romance with a billionaire ceo who is a grumpy dog loving guy. What makes this one different is that Scarlett the FMC is a likeable intelligent person. She is completing her masters degree in psychology with a special interest in improving the working lives of the people in the company she works in. There are some great laughs in this book and I really enjoyed reading it. I felt that Scarlett deserved more in a partner than she got in Nick. I wanted to see more of their relationship grow and deepen.
If you like billionaire ceo romances and enemies to friends to lovers then you will love this book.
Thank you to the author, publisher and netgalley for this arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Nick is a CEO of a tech company and Scarlett is an executive assistant working at the tech company so she can finish school. This is my first book by Jennifer Bonds and it won't be my last. From the beginning of the story I was laughing at the first interaction with Nick and Scarlett. I love how Scarlett stands her ground no matte what even if that means standing up to Nick. Throughout the story Scarlett chips away at Nick being "hartless" and shows him that he can trust people. I don't want to spoil anything but the end made me laugh so much.
Thank you for this eARC
A work based opposites attract, grumpy and sunshine romance. Nick is the CEO and Scarlett.is the executive who challenges him. Will she break down his walls?
A great read, looking forward to the next book in this series.
Not Today, Cupid is an absolute reading delight. Scarlett Evans and Nick Hart truly embody the “opposites attract” trope. I mean, how hard can it be to work with the most rigid, career focused CEO on a Valentine’s Day Social (which happens to align with the release of a major project), right? Turns out all you really need is an Oreo! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a low angst, fun romcom that will brighten even the “Hartless.”
I liked this book. This is book #2 in a series but can be read as standalone. The book was OK. I don't mind office romance but I don't care for 'bosses' getting involved with their 'employees' Though this was not a direct 'hire' it still didn't feel right to me. Steamy read and funny parts but just didn't work for me. I hear book #1 was better so I'm going to read that one next.
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC.
Holy Oreos. Get it? Ha!
This is my first book by Jennifer Bonds and i don't think it'll be my last.
Nick is a control freak. Rightly so. The man has been through a lot in his life. Unfortunately, it has left him closed off and unwilling to open back up. Enter Scarlett. What a beautiful little caterpillar she is! To witness her bloom in to a wonderful butterfly who is confident enough to stand her ground against others was wonderful. From her snarky meeting notes, her sneaking around, and the general chaos that follows her.... worth it. Totally worth it.
Scarlett is smart.. brilliantly so. She's beautiful, insecure, self conscious, independent, self assured... shes a beautiful contradiction. And watching the story unfold as Nick learns all the best nuances about her while also unfolding from inside himself...
So so sweet. If you like Oreo cookies... try it out.

The second Hart brother, Nick, finds his heart melted. He is taken down by the winsome Scarlett. Nick and Scarlett are total opposites which doesn’t stop them from being attracted to each other. This is a story that you laugh out loud at the often creative and cryptic dialogue. The characters, including Oreo, are delightful. It is a wonderful page turning story that will be enjoyed.
A sweet grumpy meets sunshine, enemies to lovers, workplace romance. Lots of genre tropes in this one, but its a sweet, quick read! I did not know this was a series before starting, and I think it reads well as a stand alone.
I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.
So I started out loving this book. It was super fun and I laughed a lot of the first part of the story and some of Scarlett's commentary. I also adored Nick's character and how cute and challenging he is of Scarlett. I was seriously loving this book and adored all the snark that Scarlett would give Nick and I adored how he thought she was cute and different and he starts to trust her. But then she started taking choices away from him and pretty much it was like "I know better than you," and she adopts a dog in his name. The dog was a great addition to the story but I did not like the way she did it for him and then guilted him into keeping the dog. A pet is a very personal thing and I did not like how she treated him at times.
The other issue I had with her is her secrets. As a whole they were not terrible but what I had an issue with was her taking private company financials and info and without asking permission from her boss she gathers the private info and is adding it to this project for her class. She uses the excuse that only her professor will see the info but I did not like she had the same attitude as she did with the dog. That she knew better than anyone else and she didn't need permission.
By the end of the book I did not like her. I felt she was judgemental and very bossy and very arrogant and conceited. And I hated the way that she treated Nick.
This is a pleasant read and although I haven't read the first book in this series this does work as a standalone and i didn't feel I was missing out.
I liked the snarky, sassy banter between the two main characters and also the precious office puppy Oreo who was very sassy herself.
I felt there was good chemistry between the two characters but the break up and resolution felt a little over the top. A minor issue had a very big gesture which would have personally made me cringe. Also as a reader I thought we could have had more depth to their relationship dynamic and how they act/work as a couple. We do get a little taste in the epilogue but I wanted more in the story, it was mostly a lot of build up prior as they are discovering their feelings.
If you likes enemies to lovers, grumpy x sunshine and workplace romance then you will like this book.
When the request for me to read and review this one landed in my inbox, I was excited for something cute and fun! And it did not disappoint! It also addressed more serious topics - mainly childhood trauma and how it impacted both MCs into adulthood. It definitely made the story feel fuller and made the characters more lovable and realistic (even when I wanted to clunk their heads together).
Not Today, Cupid by Jennifer Bonds
I'm not going to lie, I requested an ARC of this book from NetGalley because of the title. Like 87% that title sucked me right in. And I'm so glad it did! This book #2 in the Harts series, but it can be read as a standalone.
Things I am here for
Scarlett is a strong female main character finding her voice without being a doormat first! Y'all know how I can't stand doormat characters.
Nick is a broken man who starts healing with help from Scarlett and Princess Oreo.
Princess Oreo! And her grunting conversations with Nick.
Brains exploding with confetti
Never get between Scarlett and Tacos
Taco toasts and Taco purses
Office pets and nap pods
Hot tips on travel water bottles for dogs
I'll leave you with this, I can't quote it because it is an ARC, but look out for when Nick is about to kiss Scarlett for the first time. Swoon!
I received an advance review copy for free from NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Not Today, Cupid by Jennifer Bonds is the perfect feel-good romance to ease you into the summer season. Our main girl Scarlett is a hustler, working as a CEO's assistant while simultaneously getting her Masters in Industrial Organizational Psychology. One of the biggest roadblockers in her mission: none other than her boss's brother, Nick (also a CEO at her company). Her whole capstone centers around her ability to demonstrate how I/O Psych practices can boost employee morale and keep attrition rates low, but can she manage to turns things at the company around with Nick being the grump to her sunshine?
I love a good workplace romance, especially one in which both characters are passionate about their respective jobs. Scarlett and Nick just sparked from the get go, both with each other and as catalysts for their own success. Their enemies to lovers arc was lovely, and despite the fact that the "grand gesture" at the end was a bit too sweet for my taste, I appreciated that Scarlett maintains her position as a strong, confident female lead who isn't willing to accept anything less than what she deserves.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
If you love a steamy, banter-filled romcom, look no further. Not Today, Cupid by Jennifer Bonds delivers with a delightful antagonists-to-lovers office romance.
4.5/5 stars
Scarlett tries to stay under the radar, working as an executive assistant while finishing her graduate degree. But when CEO Nick gives her a hard time about being unwilling to work late, she uncharacteristically snaps back with biting retorts. Eventually the pair gets roped into planning the company’s Valentine’s Day social together, and all that forced proximity gives them a chance to get to know each other. But what happens to their growing attraction once Nick learns Scarlett’s using his company as a case study for her school project? And filling the company suggestion box with all those “ridiculous” ideas?
Scarlett is a wonderfully relatable character. Even when her actions seem over the top, her motivations are understandable. And Nick is just the right amount of grumpy, so that when he softens and shows his gooey center, it’s completely satisfying. It helps that the pair’s attraction is evident in every scene. Of course, my favorite character is Oreo, the French bulldog, who shows Nick where his priorities really should be. On his dog, of course, what else would come close?
From the first scene to the final grand gesture, this romance delivers everything I want in a romcom. The chemistry, the banter, and the humorous moments all fit together into the perfect escape. Even though it takes place during the winter, Not Today, Cupid is ideal beach read material.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Enemies-to-lovers and friends-to-lovers are two of my favorite tropes, so I was very happy to get both in this book. Scarlett and Nick start of as opponents who think that they know everything important about each other. Nick brings out Scarlett's dormant assertiveness, and that intrigues him. He wants to show her that he is more than she thinks, and she needs his help for her degree. As they work together, they become friends. There is definitely attraction, but they are both keeping things professional. Or they are until Oreo gets involved. Then feelings get caught, secrets are revealed, and mayhem ensues. I enjoyed the banter between these two and the way their relationship grew.
"Not Today, Cupid" is a cute and sexy read. Mr Grouchy Pants is the tech billionaire boss, Little Miss Sunshine is his *brother's* executive assistant. When they get thrown together to plan the perfect workplace Valentine's Social, sparks fly and Cupid's arrow finds its target.
Now, does it make sense that the CEO of a multi billion dollar company is personally planning a Valentine's party? Unimportant. Be prepared to suspend belief for this fun read.
My thanks to the author, publisher, and #NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

I really enjoyed this book for the most part. I love a saucy workplace, try not to get caught, relationship and even though this wasn’t really a secret for Nick and Scarlett, I still loved it. When control freak Nick Hartless meets the pushover with a sassy side Scarlett, the chemistry is on! Not at first of course, where’s the fun in that?
Personally, I’m a big fan of the slow burn so having the characters start at basically hating each other and then working their way up to a friendship, gaining trust in each other and eventually realizing their true feelings for each other was great. I will say it felt a bit unbalanced because we really set them grow into a friendship but the relationship is just thrown it at the end. Yes the had an coworkers with benefits deal going on (but when does that not turn into something more).
I will say, although I like how Nick’s control issues are wrapped up and worked on, I do feel like not enough time was spent on Scarlett’s. Yes she stood up to her mom, but then what? We don’t get any extra detail, like how did she act at the cousins wedding? I just feel like since the whole book was focused on both of their issues and growing out of them together, hers should be wrapped up a bit better.
As for side characters, I do wish this book made more reference into the first book. I understand they are meant to be a trilogy but I wish it didn’t feel like such a necessity to read the first book to know anything about Miles besides that he’s very much a golden retriever. I also think as a trilogy if something happened to miles, aka the girl he fell for, should at least make an appearance at some point throughout the rest of the series. I will, however, still look into the other book as this one piqued my curiosity. Sophie was one of my favorite characters though. Every girl needs s Sophie in their life. I originally was planning on 3.5 but Oreo the Frenchie’s personality brought me to a 4.
Overall this was a cute and quick read. I did notice some grammatical errors (and a misspelling of our main girl Scarlett’s name) but no book is perfect I suppose.

I really liked the first book in this series and was excited to read Nick and Scarlett's story. He's a billionaire, and she's his brother's assistant. They're also opposites - he's intense and she is more fun-loving.
Much of the book revolves around their relationship developing as they plan a Valentine's Day social for all the employees. For that to be the main topic, I think this book could have come out at a different time of year.
I liked Nick's interactions with his brothers, Scarlett's best friend, and Oreo the dog. Nick and Scarlett had good chemistry, and I liked how she was snarky with him, but the conflict resolution scene was a bit over the top.
