Book #2 in The Harts series by Jennifer Bonds, can be read as a standalone.

Let me preface by saying that I haven’t read the first book in this series. The series follows the Hart brothers, with this book about the eldest, Nick Hart, the CFO of Triada Tech.

Nick Hart and Scarlett Evans.
-Boss and assistant.
-Grumpy hero that has trust issues.
-Teaming up for a Valentine’s Day social- closed proximity?
-Surprisingly steamy!
-Oreo.

Dual first person POV.

Will go ahead and read the Book#1 of the series now.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Idk how I feel about this book. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. I had a hard time getting into the story or attached to the characters. I basically skimmed the last half.

Not today, Cupid
Scarlett's and Nicks's story was a fun, touching, heartwarming, and steamy workplace romance with great banter and some sweet moments.
He's a grumpy CEO who's been hurt and has a reputation as heartless thanks to loss and betrayal.
She's his brother's new executive assistant who's studying for her master's, is shy, and is tired of being pushed around.
One meeting is all it takes for these two opposites to fall.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book received from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

What makes this book so enjoyable is the witty writing and the relatable characters. Scarlett is a strong and independent woman who isn't afraid to speak her mind, even if it gets her in trouble. Nick, on the other hand, is a complex character with a troubled past and a hard exterior that hides a softer side. Together, they make for a delightful and entertaining read.

Overall, Not Today, Cupid is a fun and light-hearted rom-com that will leave you with a smile on your face. It's perfect for fans of enemies-to-lovers, workplace romance, and steamy banter. If you're looking for a quick and enjoyable read, this book is definitely worth picking up.

This is a sweet and powerful five-star read. This is number two in the Harts series, and you could just jump to number two, as the first couple do pop up in this, but not so much that they take over. That being said I would recommend you read them both, as they are amazing stories and you will want to know every aspect of the Hart brothers, as the trio are just simply amazing. Nick may be a grump, but when you get to know him, you understand that he has the weight of the world on his shoulders, you get where he is coming from. Scarlett was just simply a chef’s kiss, her ideas and passion will keep you hooked, she has so many great ideas that they just keep you hooked. Do not miss the simply amazing story.

CEO Nick doesn't do warm and fuzzy. Grad student and executive assistant Scarlett is determined to improve the company culture as part of her capstone project. As the two work together on an employee Valentine's Day gala, she sees his softer side. Can she break through his reserve?

This opposites attract romance is funny and emotional. Scarlett is snarky without being mean. Nick is smart when it comes to business but clueless when it comes to people. His painful past has left him closed off and a little judgmental, but Scarlett's kind understanding helps him come around.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

This book was such a pleasure to read! It was a quick read - I was able to finish it in one sitting, and I absolutely enjoyed every minute of it. The main female character, Scarlett, was sassy and stronger than she gave herself credit for, and we were able to see her slowly, but surely, come into her own throughout the story. The main male character, Nick, also underwent a major change in his ability to relinquish some aspects of control and was more receptive to people entering his life. I also thought it was great that while the author made note that while Scarlett helped a lot with this change, Nick also started going to therapy which helped.

The slow burn was great; I enjoyed the very clear chemistry between Nick and Scarlett. Oreo - the "office" pet - absolutely stole the book. I'm a dog mom of a very sassy Siberian Husky and a very sweet - but derpy - GSD/American Bully, so I'm always a fan when there is a dog in a story. I also really appreciated the relationship between Nick and his brothers, but also Nick and his adoptive Mom. (Good for her for having a life, btw!)

All in all, if you're looking for a light-hearted, quick and easy romance, I would definitely recommend this book. It gave me Lauren Asher vibes, and I'm so here for it. I think I'm going to have to go pick up the first book in this series as well...

Overall, I enjoyed this book!

Enemies to lovers. Grumpy/sunshine. You’re hitting all my favs! Nick is a “hartless” guy who ends up being Scarlett’s boss. Technically it’s his brothers assistant, but who’s counting. Work place romances - not for everyone.

While I laughed out loud a few times. I just felt the romance storyline for these two wasn’t believable.

I did not read the first book of the series, but I did think this read well as a stand-alone!

I received this as an ARC and all thoughts/opinions are my own.

In this second book in The Harts series, Scarlett Evans, executive assistant and current grad student, gets paired up with company CEO Nick Hart to plan and pull off the first ever company Valentine’s Day Social. Scarlett is all about boosting company morale, and Nick thinks the salary and benefits packages should be enough to make his employees happy. Nick’s known as “Hartless” around the company campus, but maybe there’s something more caring hiding behind his cool and controlled demeanor.

Scarlett is pretty young—and you definitely feel that at times—but there are some fun lighthearted moments to the story. And there is definitely chemistry between the two main characters.

Come for the opposites attract, workplace romance with a bit of enemies vibes thrown in and stick around for the French Bulldog named Oreo and the big grand gesture at the end.

While this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

I received an advance copy from Entangle Publishing and NetGalley. All review opinions are my own.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for an Arc in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but unfortunately this one didn’t do it for me. It felt formulaic with very little substance.

This was a funny grumpy/sunshine story that had a wonderful cast of characters. I loved the snark from Scarlett. I especially loved Oreo, the Frenchie, and Mama Hart although her appearance was brief but impactful. While I enjoyed following Scarlett and Nick’s emotional journey, the jump from friendship to love was rather quick. The chemistry was certainly there but I would have liked more to warrant the love commitment.

Not Today, Cupid is the second in the Hart series about tech start-up billionaire Texas brothers. Nick Hart is CFO and known as "hartless" for his no nonsense approach to business and life. Scarlett is his quirky assistant who is actually getting her Master's. This was a fluffy romance but there was just too much kitsch for me (Scarlett is described as meek, there's a cute dog, they're planning a Valentines social at work --no, just no) and it took me out of the story and the romance.

I loved the first book about the Hart Brothers, Miles and Miles of You, and was so excited to read the second book focused on Nick!

Nick Hart is a control freak, and it has suited him very well as one of the co-founders of Triada Tech. He can't hold on to an assistant though, so he borrows his brother's assistant Scarlett to take meeting notes for him. He initially finds her to be very meek and spineless, but when he reads her super snarky, unedited notes his interest in her begins to grow. As the pair work together to plan a Valentine's Day social for the company, sparks fly and their connection begins to grow.

This is a lighthearted love story, full of delicious banter, excellent chemistry, and some spicy open door scenes. There is so much snark and sass in Scarlett's chapters (this is an alternating POV), and I adored the entire tone of the book. I loved both of our main characters and their growth through the story.

I liked that Scarlett was a psychology student studying industrial organizational psych, a field I don't think I've ever read about in a book! It was an interesting touch to the character and explained all of her actions through the story.

There is a touch of a miscommunication conflict in the book, leading to so much secondhand embarrassment and laughter from me when one character had to make a grand gesture in the third act.

I was really hoping for an update on Miles and Lucy, and we didn't get much of that here! I love an interconnected series where we check back in on prior couples and missed that here. I'm hoping a book three will be coming about Beck, and maybe we can get a check in on the prior couples then!

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for the excellent ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Let me preface this by saying I love Jennifer Bonds.
This book was just not for me.

It's another story with a leading woman "who's quirky and awkward and never seems to fit in, even in her own family." Ugh.
The number of times the leading man calls the MC "meek"... also ugh.

I enjoyed a lot about this book. Nick and Scarlett had excellent chemistry and their connection as boss (sort of) and employee to friends felt genuine and authentic.

But, this title also felt a little unbalanced to me. There was a lot time getting to know them, and a lot of time watching them come to like and respect one another. But the time spent with them building their relationship as a couple felt like it was missing and a little glossed over.

In a boss/employee story, or one that is a story that evolves from enemies to friends to lovers I need to believe all of the different stages of the relationship. I believed the tension between them, I believed in the friendship. We start to get an idea of what they would be like as a couple, but it's so close to the end of the book that it doesn't feel fully explored.

Do I believe in them as a couple? Yes. Do I ruin they will be together forever? Yes. Do I think the reader really gets a feel for that? No.

That said, I did enjoy it overall. It's a quick read and I did laugh in places, so I do recommend this title.

Book Name: Not Today, Cupid
Series: The Hearts #2
Author: Jennifer Bonds
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Nick Hart is a CEO of a big tech firm who has a reputation for being a bit “heartless”. His past experiences of loss and betrayal have left him with walls that nobody can seem to break down.
In walks Scarlett, one of his brothers (a co-CEO for the same company) new assistant. She’s studying her masters and has some great ideas for improving employee satisfaction and morale in the workplace. Sleeper pods for breaks, office pets, extra paid RDO days… yes please! I’d work there!

As Scarlett and Nick get to know each other better, she slowly tries to implement things that loosen him up as a boss with the added bonus of, hopefully, making him happier along the way. I enjoyed the added thoughts towards the end about how it isn’t actually her job to “fix” him, and that it’s really work that he needs to do for himself. That’s not our job, guys! We are not your rehab or your therapy!

Anyway… It was a lighthearted, quick read. Their chemistry and quippy back and forth was mouth-wateringly good and there was a bit of hot spice thrown in there for you too. Oh and I would also like to add… is there anything hotter than a guy who is willing to humble/embarrass themselves for you?

Not Today, Cupid by Jennifer Bonds is the second book in her Harts series. Each book can be read a standalone or back to back. Jennifer did an outstanding job writing Nick Harts story. The banter between Nick and Scarlett is fire. Scarlett had me laughing out loud at some of her shenanigans.
Nick is an uptight/control freak CEO of his and his brothers company. Scarlett is his brothers executive assistant who is also going to school. She is smart, shy, organized, and is tired of being pushed around by everybody but doesn’t like confrontation. Nick and Scarlett meet at a board meeting where Scarlett is there to take notes. One thing leads to another and they are forced to work with each other again on a Valentine’s Day social.
These two are total opposites but complete each other in ways nobody else can. I loved their story. It was such a fun read and I can’t wait for more!

This book was so much fun and had all the feels. I loved how Scarlett AND Nick knew their faults and how they both progressed into better people for themselves and for each other.

Tacos, grumpy v sunshine, romcom? Count me in!

I did not read the first book in this series; however, I really enjoyed this book and don’t think I missed anything from the first book. It seemed to recap quite well. Not Today, Cupid is an easy and cute read and I laughed out loud a few times at Scarlett getting under Nick’s skin.

I’m not normally a boss/employee trope fan, but this one worked for me since Scarlett worked for his brother. The ending felt a bit rushed, but was still an enjoyable read. Four stars.

This is the second book in The Harts series, and each book focuses on one of the Hart brothers, who are billionaire brothers who created a tech company. In this story, Nick Hart is the coldhearted CEO of the company. He is very serious about his job, but he doesn't see other people around him... until Scarlett Evans enters the room. Scarlett is the assistant for Nick's brother, Miles. Scarlett comes into a meeting to take notes for Nick, and eventually, she gets assigned to work with Nick on a Valentine's Day social for the company.

Scarlett is attracted to Nick, but they are total opposites. This a great example of the grumpy/sunshine trope. It also is a workplace romance. I loved the banter between Scarlett and Nick. It was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed the dual narrator too.

I love the three brothers, and we got to meet Mama Hart in this book! Learning Nick's backstory added so much to his character.

I didn't like the third act breakup/grand gesture. It didn't feel believable to me. It was too over the top for me. I also didn't believe in the part about having a pet in the workplace. They got an office dog, and it seemed too far fetched.

I was also hoping to get an update about Miles and Lucy from the first book, but it didn't happen. I am hoping for more from the Harts!

Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an ARC of this book.
