It was super cute!
Loved the playful pranks at the beginning and the communication between the two main characters, which was really well done. The hold the miscommunication has on the romance book world is no joke, so I absolutely loved the fact that people were talking with each other for once. And no third act break up! (I hate third act break ups, like I get worried when I hit the 75% mark on every book, it's trauma at this point).
Although, the dialogue in some places felt a bit unnatural, or didn't really flow as much. And whilst I loved the addition of the mystery/ thriller aspect (really added to the plot), it was a little predictable and felt pushed to the side a bit.
Thank you so much to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the free copy provided in exchange for an honest review!

It was a decent read, nothing really stood out. I didn't feel the connection between Elijah and Autumn and the premise felt so... unrealistic. However, the ending left me with a tiny smile.

The premise of Ms Perfectly Fine is great: a grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, enemies to lovers with a side story of suspense. The opening scene was tragic and explains Autumn's need for control in her home environment. Elijah moving in (unbeknownst to her) sets up the primary conflict. I was incredulous at his behaviour: would a grown man actually have a stranger's belongings put into storage and start eating her food out of the fridge upon first meeting? I was furious on her behalf and it therefore took me a big chunk of the book to like him. I really liked the inclusion of Autumn's chronic pain and thought that was portrayed well. I did think the book could benefit from further editing before final release. Adorable cover!

I adored this book. Living with chronic pain from an old injury, practicing for her big comeback as a concert pianist the last thing Autumn wants is an unwanted new roommate, but maybe it’s what she needs. Elijah needs a place to stay and has a cut a deal with the landlord so he’s moving in and crashing into Autumn’s life whether she likes it or not.

I loved the immediate fireworks between Autumn and Elijah. I love how she slowly lets him into her life. I am going to be thinking about this book for a very long time.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

**thanks author for the ARC copy***

First off, I love the book cover! Diving into the story I thought it’s all banter and witty comebacks, little that I know it is a romantic suspense. Never tried something like this for a while, aside from the mafia series or MC series I devoured! ✌🏻

Anyway the story was ok for me, I don’t hate it but not something I would think about for days after reading.

I thought Elijah and Autumn banter is fun, I find myself grinning at times. I just hope the character development is better. On the romance department, I feel like the spicy scenes and teasing are forced? I did not feel the tension, it seems to be going for a slow burn type of romance and had a full stop and that was it?! and then the story went on the “suspense” part where I feel lukewarm as well.

I also like the inclusivity with supporting characters. Though the cover is all cute and sweet, the story dealt with serious issues on mental health and chronic pain. It also touches on death by accident, so please consider before picking up the book.

This aptly named story has a little bit of everything: forced proximity, “grumpy” female lead, suspense, enemies to lovers, spice, and profound backstory. We learn of Autumn, a musical prodigy who was left with physical and emotional trauma after an accident ten years ago, who now has to share her living space with an unexpected but handsome stranger. I really liked reading about Autumn and the way she was coping with her trauma the best way she could, thriving on her independence and solitude. And I certainly loved the way Elijah shook things up for her. I love a male lead who falls first and doesn’t scare easy. The suspense had good buildup toward the reveal, and while the dialogue could have had better flow, I enjoyed Autumn and Elijah’s battle of wills, and their drama-free romantic dynamic.

I received an eARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

2.5 stars - I enjoyed the overall premise of this book. The forced proximity romance of Elijah and Autumn and the overall storyline kept me reading until the end but the execution was sloppy. There were many inconsistencies that took me out of the story and I felt like I was gaslighting myself and I would look back and see that my mind wasn’t making up the inconsistencies. I will note the author advises that the ARC is not a fully proofed version so I hope these inconsistencies will be corrected in the final copy, with those corrected I would give this book 3.5 stars.

I really did enjoy the book in the end. Autumn has severe trauma from an incident where her best friend didn’t make it. And Elijah is the illegitimate child of Autumn’s landlord. They get thrown together and strike up a love/hate relationship. Meanwhile, someone is stalking Autumn and creating a disturbance in her new life and career.

This book is perfect for romance lovers and mystery lovers.

I usually really like grump sunshine books and this one sounded like it was going to be really cute.

It was just ok for me the story was really slow to syart then towards the end when things started to pick up i feel there were too many plots happening too quickly that it seemed like two separate stories in one. But the plot was so slow. I also did not feel any connection between the main characters because there was so much telling rather than showing the characters in their elements.

Autumn, a famous pianist, is making her solo comeback to the stage after a tragic accident, and she can’t afford any distractions. While preparing for her comeback, she never expected to live with a stranger! Her landlord has rent out the ground floor of her home to Elijah Wells a game designer in the midst of building his own company. Autumn loves her townhouse, and she refuses to give it up. However, Elijah is equally stubborn. As the days pass, Autumn’s efforts to make him leave only further his desire to win her over. It seems as though neither can win this battle of wills. The description of book is perfectly match the story. It is not as bad as I think considering the mixed review.

The banter between Autumn and Elijah can be quite cringe at the time, but their banter is also so fun to read. I love Autumn sarcastic attitude toward Elijah and I am impressed of Elijah patience toward Autumn. Pulling a childish prank with each other but at the same time, falling in love. Although I wish that their enemy to lover could go on longer because it feel too sudden that they develop feeling which making it rushed and felt a little forced. But I warmed up to their relationship. I also love the mystery plotline although it forgotten quite a while halfway of the story. Its predictable, but as someone who hate book that focus too much on the romance, this one is perfectly fine.

I also love how the author cover a serious topics like the deep grief Autumn feel, her chronic pain. it was accurate and well executed. Bonus point for the recommended playlist of the book, because it help to set up my reading mood! Overall, its such a short and cute read. I enjoy it much more than I expected!

Autumn struggles with chronic pain, and likes living on her own. She did not expect her landlord to rent out the main floor of her flat to Elijah. Autumn wants to maintain her privacy, and does some things to try to get him to leave. Her antics only make him like her more. Both are stubborn and have a battle of wills to see who gives up first. Only, Autumn starts to realize she might like Elijah more than she though.

This book was a good read, and I loved the grump/sunshine trope, especially when the woman is the grump! I also loved the trope of "he falls first" and Elijah did, and he fell hard. I did struggle a bit with this book as I found it did a lot of telling vs. showing, which for me, which isn't a favourite of mine.

There is a bit of a suspense that the author wrote into the story, but I felt it dragged on to long, and wasn't serious enough to get me invested in it. I can see this being a good suspense if tuned up a little bit.

Overall, I think this was a good attempt at romantic suspense for Kate Callaghan and I look forward to seeing what she writes in the future. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.

Autumn is a musical prodigy attempting to make her solo comeback 10 years after a tragic accident. Autumn is stubborn, sticks to her routine and loves her own space. Enter Elijah, a game designer whose company is on the cusp of making it big, renting a room in Autumn’s townhouse without her landlord filling her in. Whilst Autumn and Elijah battle it out to see who is the ultimate prank war champion, there’s more going on in Autumn’s seemingly boring life that proves more sinister than either expected.

It didn’t take long to become invested in Autumn and Elijah’s relationship, their banter and tension were on point. The way they both started caring for each other and having each others back well before either were willing to admit it, was so wholesome.

The romantic suspense aspect didn’t always hit the mark for me. It started off with elements of suspense but then it felt like they were forgotten but boy did it come home strong with such a great twist!

This book is perfect for someone like me who likes the idea of reading a thriller but can’t do so without jumping at their own shadow and not sleeping for a week but on the other hand will not settle for anything less than a happy ending. It had all the things you love about an enemies to lovers, forced proximity romance with an added element of suspense.

Was she really fine?!? This was a cute book that I found to be just ok. The characters were fine but nothing really stood out to me.

My opinion;
This book was such a fun read. I really like that it has a grumpy x sunshine where the woman is the grumpy one. The characters are very lovable and their banter is great.

The plot added some really nice suspense to the story as well. throughout all the cute romance scenes in the book you feel the story building and the plot twist at the end was a real surprise.

to me, one of the greatest parts of this book was the chronic pain rep. As a person who is close to someone with chronic pain, the representation felt very real and very well executed. Of course, everyone's experience is different but the author didn't set Autumn away as weak or a burden and that was just really refreshing.

Ms perfectly fine also contains the quote 'lift your hips for me.' and that's just iconic. Instant bonus points.

Would I recommend;
If you like any or all of the tropes mentioned above you should really read this book as they are nicely executed. I also think this book would be helpful to get out of a reading slump because it's short and reads away easily. This book would of course also be nice for shatter me fans who simply want to see the sentence 'lift your hips for me.' on paper again.

Unfortunately, I DNF’d this one halfway. This was an easy read and the characters had good banter but, despite it being generally well written, I find it hard to get on with books that have a lot of telling v showing. I also struggle to get on board with grumpy sunshine books when the FMC is the grump, but that’s just a matter of personal preference!

Thank you to Kate Callaghan for the gifted e-ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Any book that comes with a recommended playlist is always a win for me.
This forced proximity, enemies to lovers suspense romance was such an enjoyable read. Autumn struggles with chronic pain and strives for control in all aspects of her life, but when Elijah unexpectedly moves in Autumns control and routine are scattered. This is the first book I’ve read from Kate Callaghan and I’m already adding her previous works to be TBR! I wish we had more time to uncover Elijah and what makes him tick but overall I enjoyed this book. It was a good balance of humour, spice, plot and drama all wrapped up in a heartfelt package.

I think it will be difficult to write this review without giving too much away, but I'm going to try. I'll start by saying that the pace of this novel was a little slow to gain momentum and was not always steady; by the end of the book, things were happening so quickly on so many different fronts that it was difficult to stay invested in each of the individual plot threads. The story overall was enjoyable. I appreciated the take on chronic pain from an author who is herself afflicted -- while I don't personally suffer from a similar condition, I think it added an element of realism to the whole story, especially given the plot driver of Autumn's past. I didn't figure out who was behind the suspenseful elements of the book until shortly before the big reveal, though the secondary suspense plot was much less suspenseful and I caught on to that one very early on (not sure if that was a deliberate choice from the author or if I just happened to pick it up. Either way, it didn't detract from the experience of reading it).

I sincerely think that this book would benefit from an editor; firstly, because it is in need of proofreading, but more significantly, because there are some glaring issues with consistency throughout the novel. Some of them are small things like in one sentence Autumn is wearing a dress and in the next she's wearing a t-shirt; in one sentence, they're in her bedroom, in the next they're on the couch, etc. Others, however, pertain to things like the ongoing friction between Autumn and Elijah in the first half of the book. Rather than coming across as a struggle to navigate their situation, it sometimes comes across a bit like whiplash, bouncing so quickly from them making progress to further antagonizing each other without provocation. Moreover, as the plot thickens, there are numerous times where Autumn or Elijah or one of the other characters display a knowledge of information they didn't/wouldn't have, or they appear ignorant of something we previously saw them learn. It's a little frustrating, a little jarring, but very fixable.

Overall, for Callaghan's first foray into romantic suspense, I'm impressed with how well she kept all the pieces moving in their rightful places. That said, her dedication to maintaining the plot does appear to come at the expense of concerns like consistency and editing. Certainly not a must-read in the romantic suspense vein, but still an enjoyable read worth trying out if you like romantic suspense books or if the concept of this one intrigues you.

This book was just alright. Based on the description, it sounded really cute and like something I would enjoy. However, the execution of it wasn’t great. I didn’t really connect with any of the characters and the dialogue between them was a little strange. Nothing felt like it flowed and some scenes were hard to follow. I did really like that Autumn had chronic pain from a past trauma. We rarely see books with representation like that so it was great to see the author really take the time to portray her daily struggles. Overall this was a quick easy read but don’t plan on rereading in the future.

This was a 3-3.5 star read for me. It was a cute story, but it overall fell flat for me. When I read the description about a pianist and game developer, it piqued my interest immediately, but the execution of the plot fell flat for me.

I stumbled upon this entertaining read that took me on a whirlwind journey. Autumn is a musical prodigy in her prime that had a tragic accident that left her with tough times ahead. Her quiet and very private life is upended when her landlord temporarily rents out the bottom story of her home to an irritatingly handsome game developer.

In the end, watching the protagonist rise above it all and find her own salvation within herself was inspiring. What made it even better was the mix of mystery and romance that kept me turning those pages. Sure, there were moments when I wished the characters wrapped up those internal monologues a tad quicker, but trust me, the spice level was just right! And can we give a round of applause for the lovable dog character? This book has it all—heart, suspense, and a perfect sprinkle of romance.
