Earls Trip
I enjoyed reading this early excerpt of the Earl’s Trip by Jenny Holiday.
Archibald Fielding-Burton, the Earl of Harcourt, Archie to his friends, is ready to enjoy his annual Earls Trip with his two best friends. On their way he receives an urgent request for help from one of his father’s’ closest neighbor and friend. His daughters have run off in the company of a dubious gentleman threatening to ruin both the girls. So begins what appears to be one heck of the road trip. I can’t wait to see what is in store for both Archie and his friends, male and female alike.
great excerpt! i’m looking forward to the entire book. it really has that bridgerton feel, with a little modernization. thank you netgalley, the publisher and author - looking forward to what comes next!
This was only an excerpt but I am super excited to read the whole book and definitely plan to pick it up!
I should have read this was just a novella because now I am hooked and need more...
When is the rest of the book going to be available?
I really want to continue this story please
I was so sad when these preview chapters came to an end--I can't wait to read more! I love the modern flair on this time period, and the witty banter between the Earls is already top notch.
This review is based on a preview I was given via NetGalley. The earls trip by is a story surrounding the events that take place during a male friend group’s annual “Earls Trip”. Though the detailed plans surrounding this years expedition are quickly derailed, the trio seem eager to meet whatever comes their way as long as they can do so together.
I may have only read a short portion of this book, but what I have read so far has me eager to experience more. The three main characters seem quirky and lovable, and I appreciate the concept of a male friend group willing to be open and emotional with one another. If I had to guess (and I hope this is true), I would assume we may get a three book series following the romance of each MMC, fingers crossed. I gave three stars only because I haven’t actually read the entire book, but I’m excited to do so once it’s released!
Despite being a huge fan of Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte I have never read any of the books in the series, so this is my first dive into Regency-Era fiction. That being said, just from this small excerpt I really liked the story and I will definitely being reading this when it comes out. Archie seems like a very good guy and I cannot wait to explore more of his relationship with Clementine. This will make for a great summer read in 2024!
In a contemporary spin on the traditional Regency romance, Archie Fielding-Burton is looking forward to his annual trip with his two best friends, when their plans are derailed by an urgent plea to rescue two family friends from scandal. Clementine and Olive Morgan throw a wrench in the works, but may ultimately be what Archie has been looking for all along. A Regency setting, but reads more like a contemporary romance, may be good for readers looking to expand their field of interest.
just couldn't get into the writing style of this - felt very stilted and choppy. seems like a setup for an interesting group of characters, though!
What fun! I really enjoyed this snippet and will look forward to reading the full novel. Perhaps a future romance book club pick?
After enjoying this short excerpt, I am looking forward to reading the book. It reminds me of P. G. Wodehouse mixed with a Regency romance. Very fun!
Well, this was only a short excerpt, but I truly can’t wait to read the rest of it!
I like where this is heading.
This was such a fun excerpt! Really looking forward to reading the full ARC when it's released.
Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the ARC excerpt!
A promising beginning to this novel, the excerpt has some amusing moments, but only the slightest hints of romance to come. I will be keeping an eye out for this one, to see how things unfold. So far it seems okay, but it's not really enough to judge!
I could not have requested this excerpt any faster! I adored Jenny Holiday’s Christmas in Eldovia series and she has become an auto-buy author for me. The premise of this book is flawless, a group of earls on their yearly trip who get pulled into a mission to prevent a scandal. Apparently there is also childhood friends to lovers and strong female characters which I adore! I loved the fun and easy writing style of the excerpt and the characterization of each earl that we already got just in a couple chapters. Excited to have an addition to the historical romance genre that hits the perfect balance of comedy and sentimentality.
Not a lot to go on yet but I'm a huge fan of Jenny Holiday and I'm excited to see what she does with a historical romance!
This excerpt really frustrated me. It did not give any idea on what this book was going to be about, as nothing happened at all. The cover made me really want to read this, and I really thought the excerpt was the book at first and it did not do much to keep me engaged.
Although this was only for the first chapter I can tell that this is going to be a wonderfully funny book, with hopefully some good romance. I can’t wait to read it. 4.25 stars so far.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for access to the first chapter of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A good start to what seems to be an adventurous storyline. Even though I have a good guess how the story is going to end, I think it will be a good read n
I didn't realize this was just an excerpt, which was kind of disappointing, but I did enjoy the small amount I read. I'm looking forward to reading the rest! I always enjoy Jenny Holiday's books.
