Love in magical Scotland…
I can’t get enough of this author’s paranormal romances and Asa’s and Rory’s story was a fantastic addition to this ongoing series. A blend of romance, fantasy, paranormal set in a far off past, the backdrop of Scotland and Norway provided a beautiful, yet deadly, backdrop…
The characters of Asa and Rory were complex and compelling, sharing their fears and emotions to the reader in real time. They were equally matched, both seeking a place to be accepted. And loved… Feeling what they felt had me aching for them and creating my own cheering section as well. They had to triumph. They had to…
Loved it and can’t wait for more!

I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
I have voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this title given to me via NetGalley. This book was just amazing. I just lost myself in this story and didn’t want it to end. It was really well written and just drew in you into these characters lives. I look forward to seeing what’s next from this author.
Donna Grant has returned with the second book in the Kindred: The Fated series. After enjoying the first book of the series, I was very interested to see what Donna Grant has is store for her readers this time.
With RUIN, I was surprised by the opening as it puts Rory, the hero, in a different light than I expected. We see him vulnerable and when you think about what he’s been through and how he is now returning to Scotland, it made me very interested in his character.
Asa is a witch and I loved following her around and being in her head. I find that with most of Grant’s heroines, they are unique and sensible, never doing anything too foolish. Although things do take a turn in the book, I always find that I never get frustrated or annoyed by any of Grant’s heroines and Asa is no expection. There’s always something to love about her style of heroines.
RUIN is a book that changes its pace often. Staring off slow and then picking up and then slowing down again. It was interesting to read and now, I’m more curious about what’s to come with this series.
After Rage, we have another story in the Kindred. The Fated Series. The start will keep you a little confused: who is Rory and why is he trying to find Asa? But a few chapters in and all will be clear.
Well, not all of course, because Donna likes to keep you guessing. The attraction between Rory and Asa is nothing to guess about: the chemistry is flying of the pages. But the rest of the story unfolds nicely.
In all, a very comfortable ante and short read from Donna. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc. And keep your eye out for the next part in this series: Reign.galley for providing the arc.
Well you can’t go wrong with reading anything from this author. It was a great storyline, the characters flowed well for me and I was captivated by each page.
Loved Asa and Rory's story. I am new to the series, no context on the background, so I appreciated the good job the author did to give context and didn't assume the reader knew all of the background. My only complaint is the story finished too fast!! I'm hooked and now I want to read all of the prior stories (starting with the Kindred series)
If you like books about Scotland, highlanders and witches, then this book is for you. It's the second book in the series, but I feel, you don't have to read the first to know what is going on. Donna Grant is great at painting a story so vividly that you feel there. And her sex scenes are HOT! This is an easy book to read and I devoured it. I will definitely be reading the other books in the series.
Thank you to NetGalley, DL Grant LLC and Donna Grant for the opportunity to read this ARC.
Grant never disappoints, she owns the Highlander magic trope! Magic, passion, war - good versus evil - finding lost love and new. Fast paced and a true submersion.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
While this is a series, it is easily a stand alone read so you won't miss anything if you have not read the previous book but after this book, I am really looking forward to the next book! Brief mention made of the previous book's couple.
Asa meets Rory and it is love at first sight but before they can have their HEA, they must defeat a Viking that is coming to take Asa as his bride and also another witch that is helping the Viking.
Lots of action, drama, and a huge reveal during the witch fight. I could not put the book down and read it in one sitting!
A quick, sweet, magical romance from tried and true Donna Grant. Asa, a Norse witch, and Rory, a Scottish Highlander, team up to fight their mutual enemy Hosvir and his witch who have come to force Asa to marry him. Asa has the blood of the First Witch's sister, and would allow Hosvir to take over Scandinavia if they were to have a child. Calling on their friends, animals and other Witches/Warlocks. they meet to battle.
This was a fun read, fast paced, with a sweet love story, but I felt it was too fast and not detailed enough. I wish I had more build in the main characters relationship, and I would recommend reading the other books in the series for more world building. Perfectly enjoyable though.
Started reading this author when receiving 1 of her books on NetGalley. Enjoyed it so much have purchased several. She knows how to keep someone interested with the right amount of action and romance. When a witch goes home to save her sister she meets the man for her. But will evil separate them forever?
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own
Book 2 has Rory returning to Scotland to warn Asa of the danger coming her way. Asa isn't willing to run from the danger and they both prepare to fight and at the same time fall in love with each other.
Both are strong individuals. Rory is a warrior and a protector and Asa is no less a warrior in her own right. Both experience betrayals from those who are close to them. Asa planned to seek help from Hosvir in the beginning, however, he isn't the man that Asa once knew, and then finds out that the witch is someone she knew and trusted.
This book had me hooked from the beginning! I love Donna's creative imagination, and this book takes us on a thrilling adventure with Asa, a powerful witch descended from the very first witch. Asa meets a wounded stranger, Rory, who is sent to protect her from an evil force hunting her down. Together, they face off against various enemies, including a chieftain who wants Asa as his bride. As they fight to stay alive, they can't deny the attraction they feel for each other. It's action-packed, emotional, and full of steamy romance. The characters are well-developed, and the world-building is fantastic. Plus, the writing style is easy to follow, and the story has no cliffhangers. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

This book is centered on the heroine Asa who is a witch. She is not the run of the mill witch, but a very special and gifted powerful witch. However her bloodline comes from the very first witch. This makes her gift extremely powerful, but also puts a target on her back by the hunters. Being a witch can be a wonderful gift and it can also be like the worst hex ever!
Therefore with every wonderful gift comes something dark and horrific. Except a wounded handsome Scot gives the bonnie Asa a warning and risks everything to keep the beautiful witch safe. However dangerous villains are upon her that have been searching and hunting for Asa! They want to control her and want to steal her power!
Rory Sutherland is the son of a laird, however he’s been exiled from his clan. His clan thinks he is dead. Rory knows there is a danger that has appeared and the only person powerful enough to stop it is Asa. Rory can’t stop his attraction to the beautiful witch; she is everything he wants in a mate. Yet once they physically touch nothing in Rory’s world will ever be the same! Do these two have a future? Read and find out.
Disclaimer: I received an advance readers copy from the publisher. I voluntarily agreed to do an honest, fair, review and blog through netgalley. All words, thoughts, ideas are my own.
Get swept away in this riveting paranormal that I could not put down. Being an animal lover I especially loved Asa’s connections to animals and how she could communicate with them. It is an enchanting spellbound, romantic adventure not to be missed. The setting was breathtaking with a brilliant dialogue with gripping plots that keep you guessing! A book I absolutely loved! You can read in series order or as a stand alone book.

Rage and Ruin. The two words are linked, much like Ruin’s Asa and Rory. Ruin is the second book following Rage in Donna Grant’s Fated Series.
Asa - a powerful witch who is wandering without her coven; Rory a conflicted Highlander, returning to Scotland even though he was banished. The two are thrown together from the beginning and the only option for the reader is to quickly continue reading as their destiny unfolds throughout the story.
The coming darkness threatens to consume them both, but together they are stronger. This is an excellent and exciting read and will have you looking forward to the next book in the series.
Loved reading the engaging and mesmerizing paranormal story. Rory rushes to Scotland to warn a witch, Asa, of the impending danger coming for her and finds himself unable to leave her side. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written full of action and romance, and a must read riveting love story.
This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was steamy, engaging and fast-paced. It held my attention and I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.
Ruin is an excellent addition to a high caliber fantasy series. I adore it. Magic, highlanders, witches, warlocks, Vikings… what more could a person want?
Asa (never knew this could be a female name until now) and Rory have some insta-love. In fact, he loved her before he met her. But no fear, this totally works with the story. I cheered for Rory and his hero self throughout the story. Asa was a brave and beautiful witch, although a little under-developed throughout the book. I would have liked to see more character development for her, but that’s ok, she is a good complement to Rory.
Very enjoyable read! I want the next book!
