ALY was a sweet independent QUEEN! I loved that although she came from a well off background she was DETERMINED to do things on her own. I mean.. she was taking on a cottage reno through DIY YouTube videos! Her eccentricity just made her even MORE lovable but throw in her fxckn' humor and she had me out here cackling like a disney villain.
LEVI.. GAHHHH.. Levi is the DEFINITION of the BOY IS HEAD OVER HEELS FOR THE GIRL TROPE, in just the cutest of ways! & his talks with his doggo Hank?! gahhhhh.. We LOVE and STAN a Dog Daddy.
He was CHARISMATIC AF & I was totally SMITTEN & SWOONING HARD! 🥰
Their chemistry together was just so adorable! They just gave me all the cute, SWEET, butterfly fluttering in my stomach FEELS.
You can sense that WANTING, that sense of MORE than friendship.. EVEN through their innocents texts.
The pining?! STOP IT!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰 fxckn SWOON!
Honestly all the side characters just ADDED to the cute sweetness of what is Dear Adam. & yes, I KNOW that’s the literal job of a side character but you don’t understand!!!
I FELL for these side characters too!! & I usually don’t. I want to know MORE on them.. about their every day lives.
Also special shoutout to Hank & Pretzel: Y’all are little fxckn MENACES and I LIVED for the destruction & the utter CHAOS y'all caused!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dear Adam had me blushing, swooning, & literally smiling throughout. When I got to those cute AF parts, I would literally scream and go “gahhhhhhhhh” while kicking my feet in the air.
This was a charming story that has so much emotion. I laughed and cried at times. The fact that Aly and Levi have liked each other for so long and never said or did anything makes their relationship so special. You will fall in love with these characters and I can say I love reading about my state of SC in a book!
This was a fun rom-com to read! I had never read this author before but I loved the cover and description looked interesting. Dear Adam is a romantic comedy written by Kelsey Whitney.
Brother’s best friends tropes are always fun and this one had a special twist on it. Aly and Levi were fun characters! I loved their chemistry and getting to know them more. They were both a bit tentative around each other because they didn’t know how to interact. However, it was sweet to read about them interacting and falling in love.
I had a harder time getting into the story but the characters ended up drawing me in. I loved the quirky characters including Pretzel the dog. Levi and Aly had to learn to trust each other and to fight for each other even as they spent time together while they waited for Adam to wake up. They were drawn together because of Adam, Aly’s brother and Levi’s friend, but would their relationship grow to more?
Dear Adam was a sweet read! I would recommend it for those who enjoy closed door romantic comedies.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.
I posted my review on Goodreads on 05/06/2023. I will post on Amazon closer to release date
I don’t have much to say about this one other than I just didn’t connect with the author’s writing. Brother’s best friend is a trope I love and the synopsis sounded right up my alley, but a lot of it fell short. While Levi’s POV chapters were really sweet, I think this book would’ve really benefited from the tension built up from just single POV. As someone who studies animal behavior and is a huge dog lover, I was excited that canine characters were front and center but they ended up just annoying me. The parents and Hudson did not read as real characters at all. Overall, I know this book will have its audience and people who love it but unfortunately it just wasn’t for me.
Very touching novel. Extremely heartfelt. Some fun parts with the dogs (always love pets in the stories) . This a close doors romance . This was very enjoyable.
5 stars for this one! I loved this story so much. I finished this book in less than a day. Could not put it down at all.
Emerick only needs one credit to graduate but all the electives are full. The only option is to anonymously write the advice column for the school newspaper; of course that's the last thing Emerick wants to do but it's his only option. He is the last person that should probably give others advice but turns out he actually enjoys it and gives pretty good advice.
Nora is student body president, sorta has a boyfriend, comes from a rich and popular family. Seems like she has the best life but everyone is struggling in some way or another. I love stories that turn enemies into friends or even more. I loved the chemistry between these two and that they were able to help each other in the end. Part of me didn't understand why certain things needed to happen in this story but I feel like it was also to help the characters learn lessons and that they can't put everything just on themselves. This book was tugging at my heart strings though and I was crying through most of the ending. I definitely would recommend this book!
I received this as an ARC to read and give an honest review.
This was overall very cute! I read it in less than 24 hours and really enjoyed it. I'm such a sucker for "brother's best friend" and "both always having a crush on each other." PHEW, I wish this book was open door because these 2 had CHEMISTRY, but that's a "me" problem, ha!
What a darling Romcom with so much heart and depth that I wasn’t anticipating!!! This new to me author, one I am excited to continue supporting
Are you a fan of puppy shenanigans? Hank and Pretzel alone were enough to make me fall in love with this book but they are dogs. Their human counterparts, however, are just as cute! After her twin brothers tragic accident Aly reconnects with her childhood crush (twin bro’s best friend) Levi. They are both struggling with Adam’s accident in different ways but they come together to comfort each other as they wait for Adam to come out of his coma.
Parental drama, house renovations and puppy chaos all mixed with emotional moments and (some) wonderful side characters aka Aly’s best friend Emma. This is such a wonderfully binge worthy read. I really loved seeing how Aly and Levi’s relationship grew and developed. I was also excited to see how Aly grew stronger and stood up for herself throughout the book. My only complaint is that I wish there was just a little bit more I felt like it ended a little too quick. I would also love to have had some clarity on Adam and how he dealt with his father’s choices- maybe Adam can have his own book 😉
Overall this was such a delightful read. I definitely recommend it!
Dear Adam by Kelsey Whitney was an incredible romantic comedy.
This was a fun, super sweet, thoughtful and endearing love story.
All the characters are so well written and loveable!
Kelsey Whitney’s novel was well paced and flowed seamlessly, the dialogue was realistic with a heartwarming finale.
Everything about this book gave me butterflies and I just couldn’t stop reading.
I can’t think of a single thing I did NOT like about the book!
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."
Thank You NetGalley and Kelsey Whitney for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
I thought this book was super sweet! I thought it lacked a little bit of info about Adam and hoe he was doing throughout the book. But overall it was still good! I really enjoyed the characters and loved the story. Will definitely be recommending to other readers! Over all I liked it! 3.5 more leaning towards a 4!
Did someone say brother best friend romcom?
This book was so cute, heartwarming and fun and was such a quick read! I can’t wait to get my hands on a physical copy once it’s released!
I was really able to connect with the main character and fell head over heels for the relationships between all the characters!
The book follows Ally as her best friend (and also twin brother) gets into a terrible accodent that leaves him in a coma. After feeling alone with no one to talk to Aly decide to start updating her brother through text while he’s still in a coma. But the only problem to it all is that his phone has been missing since the accident!
There is so much depth to this story and the pacing was done phenomenally well!
*thank you so much to NetGalley, Kelsey Whitney and Victory Editing for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review! It is much appreciated!
This book is such a refreshingly fresh rom com that feels like just enough of a twist on classic tropes. Aly and Adam have such a cute relationship as twins. There is such a nice depth and realness to their relationship. Then cue brother’s best friend… Levi. The two perspectives tell the story perfectly. The pacing is absolutely perfect and I couldn’t put the book down! Pretzel was one of my favorite characters and both dogs added such humor to the book. There were a few small things that annoyed me, but they were tiny and more of just personal annoyances. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author! 4.25⭐️, 2🌶
Dear Adam was a quick & cute brother’s best friend rom-com. I loved that there were parts that were personally relatable to my own life in regards to Aly & her family. I especially admired that she was able to eventually stand up for herself when her parents disagreed with her decision to date Levi, as I too have experienced my own parents disagreeing with who I decided to marry.
Thank you to Kelsey Whitney & Net Galley for providing an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review.
Dear Adam is a heartwarming, bingeable, must-read rom-com that you can read in one or two sittings! It is filled with laugh-out-loud humor that will have you smiling at your book.
Aly’s world comes crashing down when her best friend (who also happens to be her twin brother) is in a terrible car accident that leaves him in a coma. Feeling alone, with no one to talk to, she starts texting his phone to update him on what has been going on while he’s been unconscious. The only problem is… His phone is missing and hasn’t been seen since the accident.

If a book has a main character that owns a flower shop, I’m going to read it! This adorable childhood friends to lovers, second chance rom-com was filled to the brim with warm fuzzies, summertime nostalgia, hilarious side characters, and two mischievous canines.
Levi and Aly were quite endearing, but I struggled with their chemistry. I love the history that comes with a friends to lovers story and I wish it had been explored a bit more. We get brief flashbacks from Levi and Aly, but I think there could have been more to cement their chemistry.
I love it when the supporting cast shines just as much as the MCs, and while Aly and Adam’s parents were truly horrid (not to mention smarmy Hudson), Emma and Glenda stole the show for me. Emma and Glenda were total GEMS and brought so much warmth and laughter, while balancing out the awfulness that was Adam and Aly’s parents.
The third act breakup was a tad too dramatic for my liking and while Levi shouldn’t have withheld information (we all knew what was coming!), Aly’s reaction was slightly over the top. I am glad they didn’t drag out their disagreement and communicated clearly and respectfully. I’m glad Levi sought to make amends for cutting ties for over a decade and realized that changing your dreams and trying something new isn’t a sign of failure.
I do really want to know about that conversation between Emma and Adam we didn’t get to see… I feel like there could have been something between those two. All in all, this was a very cute story about second chances, friendship, and the possibility of new dreams!
3.5 stars!
This was a sweet and light hearted story about Aly and Levi, who spent time together as children. When Aly’s twin brother Adam is visiting his best friend Levi early in the story, they end up in a car accident that lands Adam in a coma. Soon Levi and Aly are spending time together visiting Adam in the hospital, all the while having a more and more difficult time denying their growing attraction for one another.
As the two spend more time together and their romance blossoms with each job Levi helps Aly with on her run down cottage, and each time they watch rom com movies together, their relationship transforms from one of renewed friendship to something much more. The challenge is, Levi is expected to return to his job across the country and he’s hiding a secret from Aly that may make or break the future of their relationship.
This was such a fun, light romance that included two of the sweetest dogs. Adam and Aly’s parents were a piece of work, but Levi’s sweetness and the dogs’ shenanigans balanced things out. This romance was fun and entertaining. Many thanks to the author and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this story. All thoughts are my own.

This was the cutest book I’ve ever had. I love romantic comedies, and I love this book dogs are my favorite and they are a big part of the book. I really feel like I want to take a trip down south after reading this book, I can’t wait for the next book from this author.
"Dear Adam" by Kelsey Whitney is a heartwarming and emotional tale of friendship, love, and the power of connection. Aly and Adam, twins who have been best friends since birth, are suddenly separated when Adam gets into a terrible car crash and ends up in a coma. Aly, left to cope without her beloved twin, finds solace in texting Adam about all the things he's missing, hoping he will eventually wake up and read them. But when Adam's phone goes missing, Aly is faced with a mystery that unravels secrets and forces her to confront her feelings for the boy she used to crush on.
Whitney's writing is engaging and poignant, capturing the bond between siblings and the longing for connection in the face of adversity. The characters are relatable and well-developed, drawing readers into their journey and keeping them invested until the very end. The plot is filled with unexpected twists and turns, keeping readers guessing and eager to uncover the truth.
"Dear Adam" is a touching and beautifully written story that will tug at readers' heartstrings and leave them with a renewed appreciation for the power of love and friendship. Whitney's skillful storytelling and emotional depth make this a must-read for fans of contemporary fiction.
Filled with many of my favorite tropes, Dear Adam is an entertaining and bingey romance read. I loved the two main characters, Aly and Levi. From their teenage history to their present day banter and love for Meg Ryan movies, it was impossible to not route for them. I will say, I did not care for Aly’s parents, especially because I fet some of the family problems didn’t add to the plot development. Also, while pets in a book always make it better, I found there to be a little too much doggy drama. Still, I love discovering new indie authors and will definitely be on the lookout for Kelsey Whitney’s future books.
What to expect:
-twin brother’s best friend
-childhood secret crushes
-doggy drama
-flower shops
-hero who is in construction
-closed door romanxe
