My first read by the author was The Duke's Rules Of Engagement and I loved it. So I did not hesitate to jump into this one.
And while it is not bad, it was too much a bit of everything, kidnapping, one bed, a storm, the vile villain, the misunderstood hero, the forgiving heroine battling against the world, the main couple holding on their feelings, the hero never really and truly sharing the whats and whys, him playing the sacrificed party, the spoiled little sister …
I even came to pity the villain as in some way he was as much a victim even if he did wrong, he was infatuated with the heroine like the hero, and I think he was lashing out on the people who bullied him, using the weapons at his disposal, the adored sister and friend.

I would, without a doubt, allow this earl to rush in on me and kidnap me. Oh yeah! There have been a few stories where the peer hero is described as big, boorish, not really fitting in with the world around them and that is what I love about this hero. He is perfect. Undying love drives this story and who wants that – everyone. Finn and Charlotte are made for each other. But damn it, their stubbornness is also their downfall. Some head butting might be needed to make them come to their senses. If you like this type of angst, you will love this story. I was all in for it. I was riveted to the story. Road trip, one bedroom (because, of course) and everything in between won me over to the love story of Finn and Charlotte.

This is the first book that I've ever read by Jennifer Haymore and I'm looking forward to reading more. The writing flowed well and the characters were likable. Even though the brother of the heroine had died two years earlier, the story didn't feel overly angsty to me. The happy ending for Charlotte and Finn always seemed within reach. This steamy romance was a fairly quick read and I recommend it.

When Finn finds out that Charlotte might be getting engaged to a horrible man, he does what anyone would do and kidnaps.. I mean detains her, until he can talk her out of calling the engagement off. They set off and end up in a blizzard and have to take refuge in a cute little inn. Where they pretended to be married, and since they are married they get to share a bed... Of course, Finn is a gentleman, well as much as someone who has just kidnapped another person can be, and sleeps on the floor, all the while they are getting sexy glimpses of each other.

I loved the way they interacted and Charlotte seeing Finn in a new light and realizing that Finn has feelings for her and that she's falling in love with him. I loved their time at the Inn where they really got to know each other as more than the friend and sister of Christopher, I loved all of the new friends they made at the Inn. I also really enjoyed the ending and would love a story about the Marquess of Ridgemont next.

Finn, the Earl of Trevelyan, has loved his best friend's sister, Charlotte Chapman, since they were both children, but he dares not tell her. When Chris is challenged to a duel, and the worst happens, Finn blames himself for Chris's death. He vowed to take care of Charlotte and her sister while keeping his involvement in the duel secret. When Charlotte accepts a marriage proposal from Reginald Bagshaw, Finn kidnaps her to keep her from going through with it. Unfortunately, things are not so straightforward for Charlotte, but when she and Finn get stranded in a blizzard and must stay at an inn together, things between them get even more complicated. No one must know they spent three days alone together, but the truth has a way of leaking out. Can Finn keep Charlotte safe, or will everything he promised Chris come tumbling down?

I really like Charlotte. She was strong, capable and would do everything in her power to protect her younger sister, even when her uncle evicted her from her childhood home. Finn was not a suave hero, and it was a refreshing change to see someone who was brutish and awkward but with a heart of gold. The villain was soulless, as most villains are, but he was especially evil. Ms. Haymore does a good job of teasing out the details of what really happened to Charlotte's brother Chris. The secondary characters rounded out the story and made it quite interesting. There are a few sex scenes, so readers who prefer sweet stories should be warned. I would love to see the next story involve Finn's friend, the Marquis of Ridgemont.

Review:

After Charlotte’s family passing, she is responsible for her future and her younger sister being and she accepts to marry a man she doesn’t love. When Finn (best friend of her late brother) hears of this, he decides to sweep her away to avoid this union because he knows her soon to be husband is not a good person.

When the two see themselves snowed in and trapped in a country inn they discover they were not what they assumed the other to be and their connection is undeniable. I really liked both MCs and all the friends they made in the inn, it was my favorite part of the book. Both characters are good hearted, but stubborn. This stubbornness gets in their way as much as the bad guy and that was the only thing I didn’t enjoy. All the rest I did and it was a really enjoyable story.

This book had its really good moments and it left me hanging in others. I loved that the hero was big and awkward and a bit of a brute, I wish the author had leaned into it a little bit more. I liked the drama of the story and the stakes were raised high when dealing with the villain but then they’d get resolved by the hero simply asking the villain to stop haha I wish there had been some more clever way to resolve the conflict. Overall I liked the book, it had a fun premise that is always enjoyable to read and the writing was really well done. I think this story could’ve benefited from either being a true novella or a full length novel. That In between length made it drag a little at times but also not develop enough??? Idk, it was weird because it could’ve been AMAZING. But I’ll give it 4 stars because I do really recommend it if you’re looking for a fun, steamy read about a heroine and her brothers gruff best friend getting trapped in a snow storm together and ofc there’s only ONE ROOM!

Historical romance. Regency-era England. Standalone novel. Charlotte is about to accept a proposal to a man she doesn’t love in order to save herself and her sister from being thrown out of her uncle and aunt’s care. The man in question seems harmless enough, but Charlotte’s brother’s longtime friend Finn believes the man a villain and rescues Charlotte by kidnapping her in a carriage. Finn has taken it on himself to watch out for Charlotte after the death of her older brother, but the reader knows that he’s been pining for her for ages and does not believe himself worthy. He’s actually hiding the truth surrounding her brother’s death and we learn about it in bits and pieces throughout the book. Finn and Charlotte get stranded in a snowstorm and find shelter at an inn where they pretend to be married to protect her reputation. While there, they grow closer and Charlotte realizes that she is attracted to Finn. He has the lowest self-esteem imaginable and is still hiding secrets about her brother’s death, so he feels he’s unworthy of her, and decides to help her find a suitable husband. They eventually are able to leave the inn and are back in London, but that villainous suitor is still hanging around causing trouble. Lots going on in this book and will definitely keep the pages turning.

The story begins as Finneas Jones, the Earl of Trevelyan, kidnaps his deceased best friend’s younger sister after learning she is about to be betrothed to a man with unsavory purposes. Charlotte has only months before her aunt and uncle put her and her younger sister out, and Mr. Bagshaw seems a good match. So, Charlotte is stunned when Finn kidnaps her. Though she’s known him since childhood, she hasn’t seen Finn since her brother’s death, as he has become more reclusive.

When their carriage crashes during a perilous blizzard, Charlotte and Finn must pose as husband and wife while they take shelter at an inn, and the more time they spend together, the more difficult it is for Finn to resist his long-held feelings for his best friend’s beautiful sister. With secrets from the past and a proposal from another man standing in their way, their time together seems fleeting.

I really enjoyed this story. It was a quick and interesting read, and I adored the protagonists. Charlotte is lovely. Strong-willed and determined, she’ll do anything to ensure her sister’s security, even put up with her aunt and uncle’s derision and marry a man she doesn’t love. And I adored Finn! He is a humble, brooding, guilt-ridden, and honorable man who doesn’t see his own worth. Gruff and not one to express himself, Finn has a tragic and abusive past, and it very much defines his sense of self in the present. The story begins with Finn rescuing two young boys, and it was a perfect introduction to this man who goes out of his way to help others. I think it says a lot about him – he goes above and beyond to help others when, as a child, there was no one there to help him. His generosity and fiercely protective nature, especially with Charlotte, speak volumes about him.

Of course, the highlight of the story is the romance between Charlotte and Finn, and I loved it! It had a good amount of angst, some surprising secrets, and a ton of chemistry. And the way that Finn feels about Charlotte is super swoon-worthy!!

Chris is another character I found really interesting even though he isn’t technically in the story. Killed eighteen months prior to the start of the story, Chris still has a large presence in the lives of the protagonists, and it is he who ultimately brings them together since he made Finn promise to protect Charlotte. He is a man of contradictions, and I found his story, as short as it was, quite interesting. Though he had a lot of faults, he clearly loved his sisters and Finn, and his impact on all of them is noticeable.

Other secondary characters worth mentioning are the Navarros, a wonderful couple that runs the inn, and Celine, Charlotte’s younger sister. I like how much Celine grew and changed as she became more aware of everything happening with Charlotte, Chris, and her family. And I love how supportive the Navarros were.

I would definitely recommend this one to historical romance readers. It’s a quick and romantic read with great characters and a swoon-worthy love story!

Thanks to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

Haymore has just hooked, reeled in and caught a new fan and I couldn't be happier about it!
The premise pulled me in, but her ability to mould the sweet and cosy into deeply touching, while still having this overriding uplifting and heartwarming beat, that threaded throughout the moments of inner turmoil and pending threat, really made for a well paced enjoyable ride.
Instantly, Charlotte and Finn pulled me in, had me championing their happiness and feeling I knew them, for who they were, straight off the bat... there were just no illusions that they would do anything for those they loved, whether that be marriage or so, so, soooooo, much more delightfully, kidnap!
I loved the gruff awkwardness meets spontaneous determination Finn had to jump blind into saving his late best friend's sister, Charlotte, and the sass, confusion and frustrated instinct she had that she knew she could trust him, despite equally wanting to throttle him at the same time, as it so evidently came into life. As sparks flew with this radiating undercurrent of attraction, fascination and protectiveness - that has clearly mutually always been there since childhood - as they muddled through the deciphering of mixed signals, unpredicted mishaps and budding feelings to find a true unbreakable bond.
Seducing me further, with a simmering sexual tension, fueled by a sharp ache of desire and pent up longing, as Finn tried so hard (pun intended) not to surcome to his desire for her, allowing his deep internal scars and insecurities to feed the guilt he felt, as he enforced his erected walls by detaining a secret that threatened to break him and her growing love for him apart forever.

Ultimately, acculminating into a cosy, sweet, rising by steamy intimate degree, romance, come forced proximity meets best friends to lovers tale, built on misunderstandings, mishaps and the magnetic draw and fascination that has always sparked between them since childhood. Shadowed by this cloak of revenge-tipped-obsessive scheming and two hateful vindictive familial guardians to throw a spanner in the works that could only be out maneuvered when secrets no longer stood between them. Creating an all round great read with an array of subcharacters that make you want to return and see them too get their own happy ending.

Charlotte and Finn, Earl of Trevalyn, are childhood acquaintances bound together by Finn's friendship with her brother. When her brother passes away, Charlotte is forced to accept a proposal of marriage in order to survive, until Finn kidnaps her to prevent the engagement. As the two are trapped together during a blizzard, old secrets resurface, along with a mutual desire and love. a classic regency romance that satisfies all the way to the end.

Charlotte Chapman only has months before her uncle puts her and her sister out of the her home. He inherited the Barony when her beloved brother Chris died. Mr. Bagshaw has offered for her and she is willing until she is kidnapped by Finneas Jones, the Earl of Trevelyn. Finn was her brothers best friend and she has know him since being a child. All he wanted to do was have time to explain to her why she can’t marry Bagshaw. But of course there is a crashed carriage and they get snowed in at an Inn with only one room.

There are lots of tropes at play, forced proximity, childhood friends to more but it is more serious than playful. In fact it borders on melodramatic. Finn has guilt over the death of his friend Chris. But instead of sharing this with her she has to figure things out on her own trying to guess his motivations.

I did enjoy this quick read story. And it has a nice amount of passion. But the villainous Bagshaw gets a few too many moments for my liking. I Charlotte’s strength of character and how carefully everything gets tied up. Finn was a little too broody and he is part of the cause of the extra drama. I’m going to round up because of the ending and the sister getting her own growth moment. I’m new to the author and will look for other books from her. Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC and I’m leaving a voluntary review. (3.5 Stars)

Charlotte was the daughter of and sister of a Baron. She has lost them both and is now being thrown out of her house if she doesn't marry by May. So to protect herself and her sister,Celine, she accepts the proposal of a man she doesn't love.
Finn is the Earl of Trevalynne. His best friend, Chris, asked him to keep watch over his sisters just before he died. So when Finn finds out Charlotte is about to accept a proposal of marriage by the man who killed her brother, he decides to kidnap her.
The story chronicles from this point on the adventures that they share while being stranded during a snow storm.i
I loved Finns character. He was like a big cuddly teddy bear. Charlotte was strong. She did what she had to do to protect herself and her sister.

Earls Rush In is my first book from Jennifer Haymore. I thought it was a cute and quick read. I finished it in one sitting. The book opens with Charlotte Chapman reluctantly accepting a proposal. I loved this opening scene with Charlotte. It helped set up the reasoning for why she needs to marry quickly and accept such a mediocre proposal. The opening scene with Finn seemingly had no real purpose and I could have done without. The book really took off from there though. I love the brother's best friend troupe; throw in some kidnapping (for her own good) and I'm hooked.

My biggest gripe is that the whole second half is really just the miscommunication trope. It could have been easily solved. The book was a bit predictable but a fun romp. I'm looking forward to trying more of Haymore's writing.

Finn has always loved Charlotte since childhood. Finn feels he has to protect Charlotte at any cost. I enjoyed the premise of this story. I did struggle to believe at times that Charlotte loved Finn. It was a good read but I felt something was missing in their love story.

Finn has always been attracted to his good friend’s sister Charlotte. He promised when his friend died that he would always look after his sisters. When Charlotte is about to make a terrible betrothal, Finn has no choice but to abduct her. When they get stranded in an inn and must pretend they are a married couple, their restraint is sorely tested. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for my honest review.

Charlotte is trapped in a carriage with her late brother’s best friend. The rough and reclusive Earl of Trevelyan is determined to save her from a disastrous betrothal. After a snowy accident strands them at an inn with only one room, a kiss awakens their longing. Can he protect her from a shattering secret that could break her heart?

I loved the chemistry between Charlotte and Trevelyan. They're both stubborn, and he's tight-lipped about his motivations. She naturally distrusts him at first, but he wins her over with his inherent goodness and selflessness. The stakes in this story are high, and the plot is well-paced. It's an enjoyable and satisfying read.

She is the object of an obsession that he is saving her from. He is torn about secrets from the past that can right her path but lose her forever. Fortunately, their love is forgiving and understanding overcoming any pride, jealousy, resentment and vengeance can throw at them. *insert my off key rendition of Sound of Music's My Favourite Things*

I cannot stress how much I love Jennifer Haymore's writing. This novel at only 250 pages was near perfection. I never wanted it to end and I could not stop reading it once I had started, I even went to pre-order a paperback copy before finishing chapter 1, but unfortunately it is not available. Which I hope it becomes available in paperback because I need it for my keeper shelves! Not a huge fan of a brother's best friend trope, in Haymore's hands it is perfection. I loved the characters, from Charlotte and Trevelyan to the Navarro's and Trevelyan's friend Ridge (I hope he has his own book!) This novel packed the perfect amount of longing, desire, and steam.

Secrets, Deception, Confessions:
This emotional story has a fairly common plot, but it is filled with a few shocking surprises and Charlotte making a very bad decision right off the bat. That decision is now changing when Finn comes to her rescue and this romance story takes off from here and we get to follow Finn and Charlotte into a blazing attraction towards each other. This love story is quite enjoyable, and tense at times.
I enjoyed Finn who had a troubled childhood and Charlotte who has a desperate timeline to meet. The two characters are both charismatic, but "Oh my", did I hate the annoying villain to the extreme.
The romance has a few delightful and sizzling situations that had my heart pounding, I had a few "Oh, No's".
Side note: I would like to read about Lord Ridgemont in his own story. He was definitely a friend's friend.
Mature Advisory:
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy for my honest opinion.
