This book was super entertaining. Part memoir, part self help, part comedy, it felt like a RuPaul’s DragRace season. This book isn’t for everyone, but for the rest of us, you’ll like it. He deals with some heavy topics, but he does so with a flare that only Cody could offer. And, throughout he sprinkles really good advice…for life and relationships. And at no point was the book boring.

I started doing Peloton classes on our old basement spin bike during the pandemic. Eventually, I made the leap and purchased the bike. and have been riding a few times a week ever since. Cody is one of my top 3 instructors because he's entertaining, positive, and has the mid-to-late 30s millennial vibe that I'm here for. His book was a very pleasant surprise, though I really shouldn't have been surprised - it's just as entertaining as he is on the bike. Half memoir and half self-help, this book is extremely readable and Cody is very upfront about who he is as a person. If I met Cody in real life, do I think we'd be friends? Probably not, I get more of the "cool co-worker I don't hate and makes work more fun' vibe - but he is unapologetic about how he chooses to live his life and it's obviously working for him. Anyone who is a part of the Peloton community, or the LGBTQ+ community will likely enjoy this fun read.

LOOOOOOOOOVED so much. I'm a huge Cody fan, but this was so much more than I was expecting. Die-hard fans will recognize some lines/phrases but this was such a great, emotional, funny memoir. Easily 5 stars!!

BOOK REVIEW

XOXO, Cody
By: Cody
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

"Grab a water. Grab a towel. Get your life together."

I never rate a memoir below 5 stars because it takes all the guts in the world to write your life story. But Cody truly deserves all 5 stars!

Cody is one of my favorite human beings of all time. He is also my fave fave Peloton instructor. When I received an advanced copy of Cody's book, I literally freaked out! Not only is he HILARIOUS. I felt like I was sitting next to him and having a convo the whole book!

The book is so well-written. It is an engaging and fast read. I expected the witty quips and funny anecdotes that are in his Peloton classes. He brings that same humor, and a great deal of depth, to his book. I was blown away by the genuineness and emotion in the stories about his childhood, parents, cross-country move, coming out, moving to NY. What a story!

It's part memoir and part Cody-isms, and all together a great read. I learned so much about Cody I didn't know. I laughed out loud many times and immediately wanted to queu up another Cody ride.

Whether you're a Peloton devotee or not, you'll get something out of XOXO, Cody.

Thanks @netgalley for the eARC!

I probably should have just read this while riding on my bike because the entire time it felt like I was listening to Cody's voice during a ride. I know that Cody has been an open book about his life, but I really loved that he went so much deeper here. Learning of his struggles and how he pulled himself up out of poverty and became the person he is today is really uplifting. I think he is an inspiration to so many and I love that we have his book so that it can inspire others!
Thank you to Random House, Cody and Netgalley for an early copy.

I was so excited to have the opportunity to read Cody's book early! I admit, I'm a bit biased going in since Cody is one of my favorite Peloton instructors, but I really loved this one. I laughed out loud so many times, but Cody also had some great realistic insight throughout the book. He doesn't sugarcoat the hard stuff and takes responsibility for all his choices and encourages you to do the same. This book is filled with stories of a life in progress with all the challenges that come with it.

4.5 stars for this one, rounded up to 5. His personality and sense of humor shine throughout the book and I know I'll be buying a physical copy when it comes out!

I love Cody from his peloton classes so I was excited to read this and it lived up to my expectations! Laugh-out-loud funny at times with his hilarious sayings/comments, but he also was emotionally vulnerable about a lot of topics. He talked candidly about his childhood, his struggles with his mom & her mental health, addiction issues amongst friends, and more - loved his honesty & humor throughout. Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy to read!

Ok I have a severe book hangover!

This book was NOT what I expected. While I seriously laughed so loud, took screenshots of his blurbs he makes like in his XOXO rides that are absolutely hilariously that I sent to fellow Peloton friends …. The truth that was said hit me like a ton of bricks.

He goes deep, he unveils his truth although hard to say at times he just lets you have it. The good, the bad and the ugly. After his chapter on his mom and body image…. I needed a therapist, I needed to unpack some stuff.

I am definitely giving it 5 ⭐️, but this was a digital arc from Netgally so I will be purchasing this book because I need to highlight some of his advice and use it on my mantra boards in my workout room.

I read through this book so fast. I completely enjoyed this book just as much as I do taking Cody’s Peloton classes! I was entertained and loved how his personality just shined through the pages.

I loved reading some things I already knew from Peloton classes, just means he is true to what he says. These are things that made me laugh and happy during classes that I got to re-read and laugh about again.

In addition, Cody opened up about his childhood, trauma, and more. He experienced a lot and continues to as well, but he still is able to be his wonderfully charasmatic self to all the people who show up to class and as a fan.

I even took some things to serious though and reflected on, hmm I should implement this as well because he offered up some good advice.

Overall a great glimpse into the life of Cody and the path the paved who he is today.
Thansk to NetGalley and the Publisher for this advanced copy as well as Cody himself. Cody your rides are as entertaining as this book and I look forward to everyone, Boo! 💕

As a card-carrying member of the Boo Crew, I knew I would enjoy this e-ARC (thank you, NetGalley and Ballantine!) …. but I didn’t expect the vulnerability and deep storytelling.

This book covered so many topics from Cody’s journey from North Carolina to NYC - including a lot of hardships and lessons learned. Those who take Cody’s classes will recognize some of the stories but many were new. It was touching hearing more about the relationship he and his mom Cindy have, it’s been a hard road and he takes good care of her.

It was also fun to hear some behind the scenes stories from the DWTS days. All in all this was a great read and I believe readers outside of the Peloton-sphere will get something out of it too. Can’t wait for the audiobook!

I mean, who doesn't love Cody Rigsby? He's relatable, honest, hilarious, and vulnerable to his audience and fans. This book reads just as you think it would- fast-paced, lots of good advice, and I promise you will laugh out loud!
Thank you, NetGalley, for an advanced copy of this novel!

If you are a fan of Cody and his rides, this book captures his energy, silliness and bluntness! Everything we love about Cody. The book is written exactly as how he talks, so this would be so great on audio!

We get a glimpse of his childhood, how he started his career, of course some insight on Peloton and some Q&A like from his Xo Cody rides!

This didnt bother me too much, but he jumps around alot in the book.

I highly recommend this to Cody Rigsby fans, member of the LGBTQ community, and just anyone looking for a light hearted and inspiring read!

Thank you Netgalley and Cody Rigsby for the arc!!

Cody Rigsby is my fave fave Peloton instructor. I don't do well with someone yelling and trying to motivate me and crush my goals, I want to hang out and have a fun conversation. And that is what Cody brings on the bike - with his smash or pass and his (correct) opinion that JC is the best vocalist of NSYNC. He brings that same humor, and a great deal of depth, to his book. It's part memoir and part Cody-isms, and all together a great read. I learned so much about Cody I didn't know - like how his parents were addicts and his father died of an overdose when he was a baby. The way Cody shares his story of growing up poor and housing insecure and then also shows his journey through therapy of healing himself and forgiving his mother and continuing to care for her, wow it was really great, y'all. But Cody, with his patented wit and his knowledge of balance, intersperses his life story with classic Cody - hits and misses for snack foods (strong agree on the miss for black licorice) or do's and don'ts ("do be a ho"). I laughed out loud many times and immediately queued up another Cody ride. Ok, not immediately. But I did eventually.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

XOXO, Cody is out Sep. 12, 2023.

The energy and joy that Cody brings to his TikToks (and I assume his Peleton classes) translates perfectly to this book. Even though some of the content is very sad, the book is a fun read with lots of humor and solid advice. I've never seen a famous person say 'it's okay to follow your dreams but it is also okay to chase financial stability' because passion doesn't always pay the bills and I feel like people aren't always real about that. I was impressed with how candid he was about difficult subjects. I read the book in, like, two days because it's that good.

Cody is hilarious, interesting and witty. I take his classes all the time on the Peloton. I know for a fact it will always have at least one Britney Spears song! I really appreciated the peek into his childhood and upbringing. I felt such empathy for him growing up, but he has done so much to heal that trauma and move forward. This was a really engaging and fun read for me. You could really feel his energy shine through his words!
Thank you Cody Rigsby and Ballatine Books for a free copy of this ebook in exchange for a fair and honest review.

First of all I have been a peloton member and enthusiast for 3 years now and I am in love with it.

Now for the book. While I love Cody and his rides I cannot love this book.
I like what Cody decided to share with the world but the writing was atrocious, almost like a high school biography. There wasn’t a clear timeline bouncing between a lot of different ages in one chapter. There was an extreme amount of parentheses (i meant this is so annoyingly).

I don’t know if there was a ghost writer but if there was, maybe get a new one..

Unpopular opinion: I almost feel like the book was just a money grab maybe.

This book was everything that I wanted a book by Cody Rigsby to be: funny, irreverent, inspiring, and full of just a little bit of wisdom. While I’m sympathetic to another reviewer who wished that Cody had fleshed out some of his story a bit more, I also feel like there are a lot of memoirs already, and I appreciated this unique blend of advice, story, and self-empowerment. I might also add that it’s satisfying when kind people succeed. Just like any good drag queen, Cody knows how to keep it real and inject humor while also making others feel better about themselves. If that isn’t a superpower, I don’t know what is.

I am a huge Peloton fan and a fan of Cody himself. I watched him compete in DWTS and regularly take his classes. As a result, I liked this book. It read in his voicer, it was interesting to et more of his background, and he generally seems like a good hang. But the book was way too short. WAY too short. It was sub-250 pages. It felt like he was scratching the surface on most of the topics. I get that to an extent, since he's still in his current role and probably isn't in a position where he can be guns blazing sharing all opinions and backstories. But maybe wait to write the book then? It felt more like a recap on his life than actually digging into anything serious. Again, I still enjoyed reading it and it was an incredibly fast read, but I feel like it could have been fantastic if he pushed a little deeper across the board.

As I mentioned before, I am a Peloton member, a quiet dedicated one. Cody Rigsby’s cycling classes make me think I am having a brunch with my very talkative friend, who also makes me work out. He is witty and fun (at least in his class). I was very excited when I got ARC of his upcoming book!

Just like the title, his book was witty. They were fun, but definitely not light. He talked about different things from his childhood to recent DWTS experiences. There were some heavy topics such as mental health, drug addiction, and “being in the closet”. After I read about his mom and Oscar, I wanted to give him a big hug.

While this book was funny and witty, I feel that the book needs some organization. It is a bit all over the place. But again, this might be Cody being himself. Knowing Cody from his classes, I can hear voices throughout the book. I hope he narrates his audio book..

Thank you to Netfalley and Penguins Random House for ARC.

I love Cody Rigsby! I’ve taken many of his Peloton classes. I used all of my votes for him every week on dancing with the stars. And I was so excited about reading this book! Cody does a great job, at times, being very open and vulnerable this is a welcome side to him not often shown. It was interesting to hear his backstory and journey that has led to a successful career. That said… This book was difficult to read/finish. The book does not open with any kind of hook or attention grabber. Many memoirs open with a “big moment” and then jump back to the beginning of their story. This book starts out in chronological timeline from Cody‘s life as a boy. Which is fine. But then it takes a random jump into chapters that seem to have appeared out of nowhere. We go from Cody’s life story (which is heavy at times) to chapters talking about dating and friendship advice in true XOXO Cody style that completely abandons the timeline and content of the story. While there are some potentially triggering opinions about religion and God and even (gasp) Taylor Swift, my real dissatisfaction with this book comes more from the formatting and editing than it does from anything Cody says. The book just simply doesn’t flow, and instead of taking the reader on a journey, it feels more like a series of jarring quantum leaps between chapters written in different tones and voices. The book just seems to not really understand its purpose. Is it a memoir? Is it a cheeky advice and lifestyle piece? There are elements of raw vulnerability and witty verbal quips that everyone knows and loves with Cody. But the book is confusing as to which voice Cody chooses at any given time: his true authentic self, or the personality we see on the screen. I love them both. But my wish for this book would be a more cohesive blend of the voices verses the extreme vacillation between the two.
