A light hearted read some good laugh out loud moments.
Nothing to taxing which makes it a great holiday read.
Many thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
The author has written some great books that are historical fiction so. I was curious to see how the switch to a different genre would go and it was every bit as good as the other books, Frankie is a warm, funny and loyal character that has learnt the hard way not to be so trusting of the wrong people and her experience of online dating is hilarious and priceless. Definitely a book to read before anyone makes the decision to try the dating apps. A fabulous funny five star read for me.
An irreverent tale of friendship, life after divorce and a woman's adventures in the turbulent world of online dating. There were some funny moments that many women will relate to. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.
It had a few places where I couldn't help but giggle. I enjoyed it very much. Would like to read more from this author. Enjoyed very much.
The storyline is excellent and the characters are interesting and well described.
Thank you to Harper Ford, NetGalley and Avon for the arc of this book.
Divorced not Dead by Harper Ford is a book that especially resonated with my fifty-something self.
When Frankie leaves her husband of twenty-something years to live over her recently opened quilting shop, she is encouraged to start dating again by her best friend Bel, and use dating apps to find a guy – for either a romance or just for some sex.
The main story – Frankie finding love again, was secondary to me to her relationship with Bel and her finding confidence. I won’t spoil anything, but her interest in Stef, who was everything her husband wasn’t, wasn’t the true love story here. There aren’t too many stories for women out there where true friendship and love are displayed like the one Frankie and Bel had. I can absolutely picture them going out to Bel’s shed and getting high while Bel’s husband held down the house and took care of baby Barney.
I laughed out loud when Frankie replied to the fake ads on Plenty of Fish and Facebook. Laughed loudly out loud, to be precise.
This is a fun novel of a woman who has a great relationship with her son, discovers her voice when dealing with her philandering ex-husband, and finds success in business, love and life.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. All opinions are my own.
Absolutely raced through this irreverently funny, clever and thoughtful book. Frankie is 50, divorced but is certainly not dead as she navigates her way through the dating apps. Is she looking for love in all the wrong places or is this the new normal? A whip smart novel with a clever heroine. Highly recommended Well done #harperford @rebeccamascull, @AvonBooksUK
Divorced not Dead is not for those who are easily offended by swearing, such is the level expletives that they appear on almost every page - and quite rightly so!
Frankie - 50 is going through a marriage break up - her feckless husband has shacked up with the neighbour and in the wake of the collapse of her 20+ years marriage - with the encouragemnt of her best friend - new mother Bel - she signs up to a multitude of online dating websites.
Frankie moves into the flat above her new quilting shop and she sets up a weekly quilting programme which quickly becomes a success. Here she meets Stef, Paige and a variety of other character, but it's newly engaged Stef that catches her eye.
Frankie's forays into the world of online dating are incredibly humorous - especially her replies to the catfishers. Ford has perfectly captured the online dating world - warts and all and her writing is honest with lots of laugh out loud moments.
Thank you NetGalley for gifting me a copy of this book.
Unfortunately, this book isn’t for me. The blurb had me intrigued but after reading the first chapter I just wasn’t interested and didn’t want to continue.
I hope this book will find its audience
Very excited for this one and thrilled to have my wish granted! I love stories of women getting their next act and I can’t wait to follow Franki3 on her journey. It’s so empowering to see books about women over the age of forty finding love again. It’s also going to be so entertaining reading her experiences especially with so many differences to the dating game and also things that never change.
