This is the first book I have read by Christie Barlow, but, it definitely won't be the last. When I obtained a copy of this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion, I didn't actually realise it was part of a series, called 'Love Heart Lane' so I am coming in totally blind and not sure if I have missed any important back stories on the characters.
Anyone who knows me, will know that I love a Christmas book whatever the time of year, in fact I prefer to read them at this time of year when fall is fast approaching and the nights start to draw in. They make me look forwards to the change in the seasons. so when I saw the lovely cover on this book are and read the title I was in.
As the title suggests this book is based at Starcross Manor. Libby's brother the owner Flynn, asks her to come and help him stage a wedding, that has been gifted by the hotel in a competition to try and improve their bookings. His wedding planner has quit and left him in the lurch. Having time on her hands before starting her dream job and flying to NYC and escape a heartache, Libby decides to go home and rescue him. But nothing quite goes according to plan. Flynn has hired photographer Oliver who is also trying to escape his troubles for a while. He is joined by his lovely daughter Hollie who instantly falls for Libby and the two hit it off.
This is one of those books that by the time you get to the end of it, you want to be a resident at Stonecross. The village is full of lovely locations and ever kinder and friendlier neighbours who are always on hand to help each other out. This would make the perfect Hallmark movie. I will certainly carry on reading the series.
A Winter Wedding at Starcross Manor has everything you could ask for in a light and lovely romance- a Scottish wedding on Christmas Eve with a side of mystery and a dose of HEA. Three and a half stars!
* I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I am loving the Love Heart Lane series and this was a delightful read. Imagine being in Libby's position of helping her brother set up a winter wonderland wedding when everything that could go wrong did. She gets Guy to help her and eventually after so many twists and turns everything turns out beautifully and so romantic. I hope we hear more about Libby and Guy.
A delightful cup of Christmas cheer! Worthy of a Hallmark Special!
I throughly enjoyed Barlow’s newest novel about Christmas obsessed Libby and her impromptu addition to the team at Starcross Manor as their fill-in wedding planner. Full of romance, little plot twists, and warm fuzzies, this would be the perfect holiday read by a warm, crackling fire.
I was so excited to get A Winter Wedding at Starcross Manor to review. I have read all the books in this series and loved them all. The way Christie writes you feel like you are in Heartcross and I can imagine all the places that are visited. It’s also nice when characters from the previous books appear. Flynn and Julia who we have seen before are intertwined into the storyline. Libby and Guy are the main characters who are well suited but both have things going on in their lives but want to see where things go. It was just a lovely story set at Christmas time,so romantic I just didn’t want it to end. You will not be disappointed with this book.
Oh wow wow wow.
I think this is my favourite love heart lane book so far.
If I wasn't married already I would love to get married at Starcross manor it's just magical.
I'm so glad that Flynn and Julia got married and Julia got her dream wedding.
I so want to know how Libby and guy get on together and how Libby gets on in new York.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Libby is happy to be spending the holidays with her family. She is asked to help with an event where everything that can go wrong does. With optimism Libby asks for help from a guest who makes her happy. This was a quick read.
"A Winter Wedding at Starcross Manor" is book twelve in Christie Barlow's "Love Heart Lane" series. I have read each of the books and this latest one definitely didn't disappoint and I think may be my favourite of them all!
The style of writing just flows beautifully. A wonderfully descriptive story line, puts you right in the snowy village of "Heartcross" with fabulous "Christmassy" vibes. I just couldn't get enough of this story line and really hope that there will be another book in the series.
A bit about the story: Fashion Designer Libby Carter, has been offered a top job in New York and has a few weeks to herself before she packs up her life. Her brother Flynne, who owns "Starcross Manor" calls upon her help to help arrange a high profile wedding, which would make Starcross Manor "The Scottish wedding destination"! A string of events means that plans tumble like domino's for Libby but the wedding photographer Guy is there to help out at the winter wedding of the century.
This is book #12 in the Love Heart Lane series. Whilst it is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone book. We return to the village of Heartcross in the Scottish Highlands when Flynn Carter, owner of Starcross Manor, is in need of a wedding planner. There is no one better qualified than his sister Libby, who agrees to help organise a Christmas wedding before she flies to New York to start her dream job. Being hired as the photographer, we also get to meet Guy Hart, who alongside his little dog Pickle, begins to work very closely with Libby!!
I love this series and am always happy to return to Heartcross. This trip is particularly festive, being set on the run up to Christmas and we get to see the little Scottish village and Starcross Manor in all it's snowy, Christmas joy! I loved Libby and Guy's characters. Libby is known to Heartcross already and we get to meet again the other villagers whom we've already met in previous books. Libby is all set to move across the Atlantic just after Christmas to work at her dream job. She's certainly amazing at what she does and not only do we get to feel all Christmassy, but we also get the wedding bug watching Libby organising the planned wedding at Starcross Manor. Guy is also very likeable and makes the perfect romantic interest for Libby, although he does appear to carry some past issues with him.
This was an absolutely delightful read! I was hooked from the very first page and fell so much in love with Starcross Manor at Christmas that I was willing to get married all over again just to experience it in all it's festive glory. Full of loveable characters, beautiful scenery and a wonderful storyline, this was probably my favourite visit to Heartcross yet! It's the perfect Christmas read, although I'd read it any time of year! Would definitely recommend.
I really enjoyed this feel good novel. I loved experiencing a scottish winter through this novel. Definitely will look for more by this author.
Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins UK One More Chapter for the ARC of A Winter Wedding at Starcross Manor. Christmas time is one of my favorite times of the year! I absolutely loved that Libby finds Guy and Holly during her stay at Starcross Manor. I hope to read in the future that Libby and Guy get married one day! There was a twist and a few secrets in the book. I loved most of the main characters! In the end, the characters David and Miranda got what they deserved. Those two I disliked for sure. I had a feeling they were up to no good! I really enjoyed this book and would totally recommend! I cannot wait for the next Christie Barlow book!
I absolutely love the Loveheart series, I want to live there!! This book had that perfect, cosy scene setting with characters that you grow to love. I really enjoyed this book.
This is such a sweet, feel good, holiday story about love, family, and second chances.
When up and coming fashion designer, Libby, is called to help her brother organize a wedding at his lodge before she moves to NY, she never dreams the direction her life would go. Through lots of ups and down, mishaps and misunderstandings, things have a way of working out, especially when the heart gets involved. I loved the characters and rooted for them all. The plot, while predictable, was captivating and enjoyable. I loved the description of the scenery, so beautiful. Recommend to all hopeless romantics.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Another great feel good read from the author. Great storyline, great characters and lovely locations. Would recommend.
What a beautiful looking book, it literary throws itself off the shelf it's so pretty. Inside this gorgeous cover is a lovely Christmas story of family, friendship and love. Perfect heartwarming. book to curl up with.Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy
I do love the Love Heart Lane series and this new novel brings together old and new characters against the familiar and comforting backdrop of the village of Heartcross. Both Libby and Guy have baggage, troubled pasts and uncertainties that make them wary of romance but their attraction is strong. Working together to organise and record a wedding that should really put Starcross Manor on the map as the best wedding venue for miles around, they have more than their share of surprises and suspicions as things start to go wrong. A snowy setting, an adorable dog and a little girl to pull at the heartstrings. What's not to love?!
This is the first Christie Barlow book I’ve read, and I really didn’t expect to be reading a Christmas book sat on a beach in the middle of August. But how could I resist a festive read?
It was a warm and welcoming introduction (to me) of Heartcross and they say once you visit there you don't want to leave. It's made me want to read the rest of the series now!
Libby is a fashion designer but has always loved weddings and Christmas, so when her brother asks for her help to plan a winter wedding at his hotel, she can't resist. When everything goes awry she asks videographer Guy for help. When Libby and Guy meet, it’s clear that there is something between them, but things aren't straight forward and there's so much they don't know about each other. The characters were a joy to read about and I felt they were easy to connect with. Both Guy and Libby had intriguing stories.
Such an uplighting and heartwarming read about family, friendship and love.
4.5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to review this book.
Another fab read in the Love Heart Lane series, Libby is staying with brother Flynn at Starcross Manor before her big move, but has one challenge to arrange a winter wedding to competion winners.
With characters you will love a few annoying ones this a joyful read.
I absolutely adore this series and think this particular story would make a perfect Chsirmas Hallmark movie.
Heartcross always sounds wonderful with a great community, a place I would certainly love to visit if it was real.
I highly recommend you pick up this little delight.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is book 12 in the love heart lane series it could be read on its own but highly recommend you read this beautiful series from
The beginning to fully appreciate how wonderful it is.
This series is the perfect mixture of magic and escapism with a touch of romance all set in the idyllic setting of heart-cross which I wish was a real place
As
Would love to live there. This book explores the character of Libby who is Flynn's younger sister and also delves more into the lives of
The other characters that we have met in previous instalments of
The series.
This was a
Cosy and uplifting heartwarming read with an engaging storyline and characters that you could become invested in and brought a lot of comfort
And cheer on a dull rainy day and once I had started reading I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting.
I can’t wait for the next instalment of this series am counting down all ready.
This was a fantastic read. I loved it.
Libby is a fashion designer, her brother Flynn owns Starcross Manor, we have met them before in previous books.
Libby is drafted in to help Flynn with a marketing campaign to advertise Starcross for weddings. They let one lucky couple have the winetr wedding of their dreams in return for all the publicity that comes with it like pictures/video of the big day. Enter Guy, the videographer who does not enjoy the job and is doing it as a fabour and would rather be doing nature documentaries.
When Libby and Guy meet sparks fly, but Libby has secrets, and Guy has a little girl which comes with its own set of complications.
This is utterly heartwarming and if you set the scene, its christmas eve, you have your new pyjamas on, the house is quiet, you are toasty warm and you sit down and read this.
Wonderful.
