This was cozy, sweet, spirited and absolutely pure. I totally enjoyed it and recommend this for when you are looking for something inherently sweet.
This is a highly entertaining and cosy story and can easily be read as a standalone, but I’m happy that I’d read the first in the series. I felt I already knew some of the characters so it was good to meet them again, and easy to get into the flow. Very enjoyable, and the only thing I was disappointed in was the ending. It didn’t end! Come on – what happened next??? Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the electronic copy, but please make sure the follow on has a proper ending.
This book is one of those joyous, pure escapism, and good all round community spirit reads. I love Zoe and her good intentions. She's one busy lady trying to improve the community. I'm here for the good news gazette alone- this needs to be a real thing!
A great ensemble of characters behind Zoe too- particularly ones she meets for her gazette stories.
Wasn't sure about the community comments at the end of each chapter, but I rolled with it.
Hats off too for this author tackling the sensitive subject of early motherhood struggles. Hardly seen in books and dealt with superbly.
Fun, feel good and fantastic.
I have to be honest it took me a while to get in to this one, I should have had a break between the first and second but which probably was why it took time to get in to it.
Once I was stuck in I enjoy it, nice warm hearted moments between Zoe, Emma and Beth and the growing relationship with Daniel and I enjoyed reading about them all saving the cinema was really cute!
I was also slightly disappointed with the to be continued ending!
Thanks to NatGalley for the download
I read The Good News Gazette last year and, while I enjoyed it a lot and thought Zoe was a great and very real character, the romantic storyline felt a bit… off. But, it was fair enough, not every book ends the way you as the reader feel is right.
BUT THEN! I got sent an email about the sequel and things were starting to look up! Here, while the storyline features the same great characters that make up a real community, that romantic plot was heading in a direction that I much preferred. AND THEN!! Cliffhanger.
Although it’s slightly frustrating that this book ends with a will they/won’t they, it’s balanced out by knowing that there is more to come from the Good News Gazette - which is very good news indeed, as so far this is a series I can and will recommend to people - come on book three!
Saving The Good News Gazette is the second installment in Jessie Wells’s Good News Gazette series. Had I known this was the second novel and not a standalone, I would not have requested it off Netgalley. There were references to events and characters from the first novel that I felt were never fully explained in this one for those readers who weren’t around for Wells’s first book.
This book follows Zoe Taylor as she tries to save Westholme’s Good News Gazette, the publication that she set up in the first book, with the help of local business tycoon, Daniel Lewis. This title has been classed as romance, but I felt that the romance thread was not as strong as the community spirit that runs throughout the book. Each chapter ends with snippets from Westholme Community’s Facebook page. These comments are funny but don’t always appear realistic in what they say and instead seem to be added at times for comedic effect.
One thing that disappointed me a great deal was that this novel ended on a cliffhanger. I’m not a big fan of book series and the fact that it wasn’t tied up neatly in a bow at the end, made me feel a bit short-changed. Also, everything - even the future of the gazette - is up in the air by the time the novel closes, which again left me disappointed that nothing substantial happened.
Fun, funny, day read! Great bookclub pick, great beach read, great continuation of Zoe’s life - with more to come! And, um, can we discuss the swagger felt with Daniel??? Love his character and can’t wait to read more! Clean read with lots of chemistry. I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the groups FB page. There were times I was cracking up and passing my Kindle to my hubby to read. And even he was laughing! This is one not to be missed!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC.
This was a very sweet and cozy read, but it ended so abruptly I literally said “No, this is not how this book ends!”
It took some digging around to realize it was a cliff hanger and I’ve never really ready a series as cozy with such a surprise ending!
I also did not realize this is part 2 of the series, I think the author does a great job of making the book stand alone.
I really enjoyed this book! After reading the last one I wasn’t sure what to expect but this has out done it… we’ve got the usual community spirit (& challenges) of Westholme, Zoe and the Good News Gazette, a bit of will they won’t they and an all round lovely story!
I really liked the end as it teases a 3rd book… can’t wait!!!
Thanks to the publisher OMC and Netgalley for a digital ARC!
Having loved the first book in this series I was eager to read this one and it was just as good. This could be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the other one first for even more enjoyment.
This story was an uplifting and heartwarming read and the characters are relatable and engaging and the story has so much more going on that just what is happening with the newspaper as it gets to her heart of the whole of the community and their lives and what is going on and how everyone is striving for the same goals and looking out for each other.
This was a great positive read which gave me a much needed pick me up. It ended on a cliffhanger so am hoping this means that we are going to get another instalment in the form of book 3.
This was a simple, fun, easy and quick read. The perfect type of book for your holiday, beach, pool kind of read. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and I would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.
I loved the first part of this series, so I was eager to see what happened next. I enjoyed this part, too, up to the end. To be honest I was quite shocked at how suddenly and unexpectedly the story ended. I did not feel it a cliffhanger, more like a bit of a disappointment. I cannot see why the author put the very short 'Epilogue' at the end of the story and cut it so suddenly. So I was not very happy with this turn of the events.
However, I enjoyed thesmall town community again, the interesting characters and the romance. I will definitely read the sequel, and can only hope it will not end on a similar 'cliffhanger'.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins / One More Chapter for this advance copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
I recently read "Saving the Good News Gazette" by Jessie Wells, and I absolutely loved it! Zoe, the main character, is a single mom who owns a feel-good news source in Westholme. When her biggest advertiser cancels their contract, Zoe strikes a deal with millionaire developer Daniel Lewis to save her paper. But as Zoe works closely with Daniel, she starts to develop unexpected feelings for him.
This book is the perfect blend of romance, drama, and business struggles. I couldn't put it down and finished it in just a few days. Wells' writing style is engaging and keeps you invested in the story. The characters are relatable and you'll find yourself rooting for them to succeed. "Saving the Good News Gazette" is a feel-good read that will leave you smiling and inspired. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun, five-star read!
A lovely book. When they are saving a newspaper that spreads happy news which is something that exists in real life and what a treasure it is too because in these times of uncertainty it is a book that brings happiness to lots of people. The book is about new starts, surviving, living and finding love.
"Saving the Good News Gazette" by Jessie Wells follows the challenges faced by Zoe Taylor, a single mother and the editor of Westholme's Good News Gazette, when her major advertising account abruptly cancels their contract. In this time of uncertainty, Zoe realizes that her beloved newspaper's future is at stake.
Determined to rescue her paper, Zoe enters into a unique agreement with Daniel Lewis, a wealthy developer. In exchange for his assistance in finding new advertisers, Zoe agrees to lead a campaign to save an Art Deco cinema from being demolished. However, complications arise as Zoe's boyfriend, Sam, disapproves of her collaboration with Daniel. Additionally, an unexpected job offer from her previous boss further adds to her mounting dilemmas.
As the story unfolds, Zoe begins to question her relationship with both Sam and Daniel, sensing a deeper connection with the latter than she expected. The challenges she faces professionally and romantically leave her uncertain about the future, forcing her to make a life-altering decision that will impact not only herself but also her son, Charlie.
Through Zoe's journey, "Saving the Good News Gazette" explores themes of resilience, love, and the pursuit of one's dreams. It paints a picture of a determined woman striving to protect what she holds dear while balancing personal and professional commitments. Readers will be rooting for Zoe as she navigates the complexities of her life and learns valuable lessons about family, friendship, and the power of community.
Wells' storytelling skills captivate readers with a delightful combination of humor, drama, and heartfelt moments. With its relatable characters, engaging plot, and optimistic undertone, "Saving the Good News Gazette" offers a heartwarming and inspiring tale that reminds us of the importance of believing in ourselves and never giving up on our passions.
Saving the Good News Gazette is the 2nd book in a sweet series about Zoe, a single mother who created a “good news only” paper for her city. You can read this book as a standalone as you do get a good recap of the first book. Zoe’s newspaper is struggling to make ends meet so when the local business man, Daniel, that she had a love/hate relationship offers her a part time job to help bring the local theatre back to it’s former glory, she accepts. We hear about her struggles with her boyfriend Sam as she grows closer to Daniel. Overall it’s a sweet book, Zoe always goes above and beyond to help her town. If I had one issue with the book is I didn’t enjoy the Slim City scenes. The leader, Barb, of the weight loss group is very mean and I didn’t feel like these scenes did much to help progress the storyline. I can’t imagine a grown human would keep going back to a meeting where the leader yells at you for gaining weight in front of an entire room. These felt like scenes from a cruel Lifetime movie in the 90’s and do not belong in 2023. This is the reason why my ranting dropped from a 4 to 3 starts because otherwise, I do enjoy the book series. The author ended the novel on a cliffhanger and I will have to find out what is going to happen to this delightful town. Hopefully Slim City will be flooded and they close down so the original members can start their own weight loss group where they give each other positive feedback and support.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins / One More Chapter for this advance copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
I am a sucker for bright and colourful covers and this one sucked me right in.
A follow up to The Good News Gazette, which I haven’t read but might need to track down, Saving The Good News Gazette follows Zoe as she throws herself into saving the paper she created and loves as a lack of advertising threatens to close it down. When approached to help save the local movie theatre at the same time she can’t resist doing everything she can to make her community thrive.
I will admit I struggled with this one in certain parts, there is some pretty toxic diet culture featured pretty heavily especially in the beginning. If like me you have struggled with disordered eating maybe give it a pass or proceed with caution. It’s kind of addressed later in the book but it’s not my favourite part of the storyline and could have done without it.
Other then that this was a sweet book, the small town featured just makes you want to pack a bag and join them in saving the theatre. The romance is definitely a slow burn as it seems to be a continuation from the first and I enjoyed watching Zoe and Daniel dance around their feelings for each other. This is definitely a world I would enjoy hanging out in and can’t wait for the next instalment.
Thank you to @netgalley and @harpercollinsuk and @onemorechapterhc for giving me a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I read The Good News Gazette when I really needed something light-hearted and positive, and it was just the tonic, so I was extremely excited to get a chance to read this sequel to Saving the Good News Gazette.
I mean, who doesn't want a feel-good paper and a lot of wonderful people in the community clubbing together to make things happen?
This time we enter the story with Zoe, our editor, a year or so into her journey of publishing her own little paper with her friend, Ollie.
There is a little worry about advertising and revenue, but they are hopeful. As with the last one, somehow, Zoe gets reeled into helping with another huge project to save the community's cinema from being knocked down by a developer.
But she has other things on her mind, in the shape of her boyfriend, Sam, and his rival, and her now work colleague, Daniel...
Plus, there's a movie being filmed in the village, and the local hooligans are threatening to sabotage any positive steps the community make with their project.
this is a review, not a synopsis, so let me stop there and say I loved this one every bit as much as the first. It was a joy to rekindle relationships with the characters and follow the simmering passions in Zoe's life!
I have to say that the ending was a bit of a cliff-hanger, but at least that means I know more is coming!
Many thanks to NetGalley, and Harper Collins, UK One More Chapter for an arc.
Hey there, bookworms! Today I'm here to share my thoughts on Jessie Wells' delightful read, "Saving the Good News Gazette." Brace yourselves for a heartwarming journey filled with unexpected twists and turns!
Our protagonist, Zoe Taylor, possesses an uncanny talent for rescuing lost causes. But this time, she finds herself in need of a miraculous save. When her major advertising account goes poof and cancels their contract, her beloved Good News Gazette, the go-to source of positivity in Westholme, faces an uncertain future. And let me tell you, folks, uncertainty is not Zoe's cup of tea.
Determined to keep her paper afloat, Zoe strikes a deal with the devil—or, in this case, millionaire developer Daniel Lewis. In exchange for her help in finding advertisers, he pledges to support her campaign to save the beloved Art Deco cinema from turning into a pile of rubble. The catch? Well, her boyfriend Sam isn't exactly thrilled about her newfound business partnership. And if that wasn't enough, Zoe's old boss drops a tempting job offer on her lap, making her decision-making process feel as chaotic as a squirrel's shopping spree.
As we dive deeper into the story, we can't help but feel that there's something more brewing between Zoe and Daniel. Oh, the forbidden allure of a potential romance! But remember, folks, life is never as simple as it seems, and Zoe finds herself facing a choice that could alter everything for herself and her precious son Charlie. Will she take the plunge or stick to the familiar?
Jessie Wells weaves a compelling tale with finesse and a pinch of magic. The writing style is engaging, and I found myself flipping through the pages faster than a caffeinated squirrel. The characters are vibrant and relatable, particularly Zoe, who embodies the struggles and determination of a single mother trying to keep her ship afloat. The book masterfully explores themes of love, loyalty, and the unexpected paths life takes us on.
I couldn't help but yearn for a tad more depth in some of the supporting characters. While Zoe shines bright like a supernova, I felt that a few of the secondary characters could have used a touch more development to truly sparkle alongside her.
In conclusion, "Saving the Good News Gazette" is a captivating and uplifting tale that will tug at your heartstrings and leave you with a renewed sense of hope. With its blend of romance, family, and a dash of suspense, this book is an ideal companion for a cozy weekend read. So grab your favorite beverage, snuggle up in a cozy blanket, and let Jessie Wells take you on a journey that reminds us all of the power of resilience and the beauty of unexpected connections.
Happy reading, my friends!

Zoe is back filling the community with good news. This time she is to work with Dan on a new project but this will cause ructions with her boyfriend, Sam. Her son, Charlie, is growing up and decisions have to be made for the future.
I absolutely loved the first one and this was brilliant. The characters established in the first book are just as funny and I can’t wait for book 3!
