My first Christmas-themed book of the year and it didn't disappoint!

Lottie lives in Scotland and she LIVES for Christmas. When she gets the news that her job at the local Christmas store is ending soon, she doesn't know what to do with herself. But when two new business owners approach her with the idea of creating luxury holiday lodges nearby, Lottie jumps at the chance. Even if it means working with grumpy rambler Blake, who is opposed to anything festive. Will they be able to work together without biting each other's head off? Of will there be a spark driving the two together?

As always I went into this book blind long after requesting the title (I love not knowing exactly what happens, even though it sometimes also frustrates me). I loved the setting, with picturesque villages in Scotland, a Christmas store that just screams glitter and the cottages set in the woods. Oh just take me there already!
The writing style was comfortable and really brings you in.

The characters I couldn't really connect with, for some reason. Lottie I liked fine enough. Sure, she was a little naive sometimes, but she had a drive and really wanted to make this new job happen. Blake I just found to be plain rude, but that of course plays right into the enemies-to-lovers trope. I also found the romance to be a bit lacking for what I was expecting, but I can't quite put into words what I would've liked to see...

All together it's a fabulous read for anyone who loves enemies-to-lovers and the holidays!

I haven't read any previous books in the Scottish Escapes series but I didn't have any problems getting into the story of "The Highland Lodge Getaway". It was very easy to get into the setting and the story.

Lottie loves Christmas and she is desperate when she hears about the closing of the Christmas shop she is successfully leading. But soon she is getting an amazing new job offer, as she is asked to manage a set of luxury cabins, especially getting them ready for Christmas.

I loved the Christmas setting in the book. The shop as well as the cabins had a wonderful atmosphere which definetely sets the reader into Christmas mood. Everything was very cosy with lights and decorations.

At her new work Lotties meets Blake who is a popular hiking expert. Blake seems to be very grumpy at first but soon the two start to get to know each other better. The love story was kind of sweet but for me missed some sparks. I also wasn't a fan about the drama coming with Blakes story.

Overall the book was very enjoyable to read and I loved the Christmas atmosphere.

Lottie is devastated when the successful Christmas shop that she is all set up to take over when the owner retires is sold to a coffee chain. She is therfore over the moon when she is offered the job of managing four new log cabins, taking responsibility of the interior design making full use of her previous experience. All is well until she meets a new colleague Blake, who is a real scrooge.
The Scottish Highlands location certainly sounds idyllic and a place I'd definitely love to stay. Lottie is so into Christmas that it's contagious, a total opposite of Blake - I'm halfway between the two, but then I'm reading Christmas themed books since August and watch Christmas movies in July..... It takes a long time to find the reasons for Blake's dislike for Christmas, which makes it difficult to relate too closely to him, but Lottie does try. Her designs for the lodges sound amazing and add to that festive feeling. A warm hearted book to get you into the Christmas mood at any time of the year.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

A delightful, if predictable, Christmas romance. Lottie Grant has her dream job managing Christmas Crackers, a festive shop in the highland village of Craig Brae. She's all set to take over the shop from her boss Vivian who is moving to America when they receive the earth shattering news that the landlord is not renewing the lease so the shop must close after Christmas. With perfect timing Lottie meets Stephanie and Max Styles who are impressed by her skills and enthusiasm and invite her to project manage their new venture - rental lodges in the local forest. The only fly in the ointment is hiking guru Blake Dempster. He and Lottie clash over business ideas and although the result is predictable, my heart melted as I discovered why Blake hated Christmas, My first festive read of the year sitting by a pool in holiday sunshine. #netgalley #thechristmashighlandlodge #thehighlandlodgegetaway

A sweet and emotional story . Lottie loves everything about Christmas and she meets grumpy Blake who hates it and have to work together . At her new jog as the manager of the luxury wooden cabins she has to work with him who is the hiking expert and he never agrees with her ideas . Can Christmas bring them together ?

I saw the cover and though it was so cute so I had to read it.

Lottie loves everything about Christmas. Blake has no feelings about Christmas.
Their paths cross and the tension between them could be felt as I was reading.
They have a lot to learn about each other and events that happen give them that chance.
The romance starts to brew, and I could feel it as I was reading. The Christmas season will change things.
Thank you NetGalley, Julie Shackman and One More Chapter for the Arc of The Highland Lodge Getaway. This is my personal review.

This was a sweet little festive read. I love books with aesthetic settings and holiday vibes.
I do think it was a bit slow to start which made be a bit disinterested but as soon as the conflict started (Blake getting lost) the pacing was much more enjoyable for me.
Grumpy sunshine is one of my favourite tropes and this was done well. Blake had a lot to be angry about in life and I’m glad Lottie was able to bring her joy and happiness (even in the face of losing her father fairly recently) into his life.
I loved the moments of Lottie connecting with her father and the epilogue was adorable.

A sweet Christmas romance set in the Scottish Highlands. Lottie is about to buy the Christmas shop she has been the manager of when she finds out the lease has been sold to a restaurant. A chance meeting with a woman lands her a job decorating and running cabin rentals. One of the team members hates Christmas and does not get along with Lottie and her cheerful spirit. A slow romance develops between them . This book was a slow read for me. It seemed to take awhile for the romance to start and for me to really get into the book.

Lottie is just getting back on her stride after the shop where she worked closed when Blake arrives at the cabins she's decorating and managing. He might be a hiking expert (not the best description on my part) and he might be good looking but he doesn't like Christmas and well, it's that time of year. Fans of the genre know these two will eventually cross over first to friendship and then to romance. This has all the good Scottish feels and while it's set during the holiday season, it will be just as enjoyable in the sun. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A good read.

This novel is like a Christmas present wrapped in Christmas magic. This book has all the good feels. This is a great book to read all year round i just finished it within a few days in October and it makes ready for winter, snow on the ground cozy blankets mistletoe and Christmas magic. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves winter settings or anything cozy Christmas related themes. This novel was short but it gave me a lot of joy and comfort and it was a palette cleanser from the fantasy and romance books I’ve been reading. This was written well and had a cute ending. The reason I didn’t give it five stars :the love interest doesn’t come into the book until about 25% of the way in. They don’t get together until the last 10% of the book. The novel also takes a bit to get going and keep interest at times. If you like cozy happy Christmas reads get this!

I love books set in Scotland as a Scottish reader and this book perfectly captured Scotland's beauty. It included nearly all the reasons I love living here and showed the charm yet danger of the Highlands.

The Highland Lodge Getaway follows Lottie who was expecting to take over the Christmas shop she works at after her boss moves away but unexpectedly the shop is forced to close leaving her without a job. Luckily she gets offered a job decorating four new self-catering lodges and there she meets the moody Blake Dempster and his hatred for all things Christmas.

I am a massive fan of Christmas books and books set in Scotland so this was the perfect combination of both. The setting was super magical and I would love to stay in one of the lodges. The town had a great community feel and I loved how much they all celebrated and supported each other. This was accompanied by a wonderful festive feel and even reading this in moody October it had me feeling festive so I definitely recommend it for getting into that festive feeling. Everyone got into that festive feeling and made sure that everyone around them was also feeling that way.

I loved the characters too. Lottie was really well developed and I felt like I really got to know her over the course of the book, you could understand most if not all of her decisions and why she went about things the way she did. It was great to get to know more of Blake slowly over the course of the book, you got little drops here and there which really helped build up his character while still wondering more about him. By the end of the book, I think he and Lottie really had gotten to know each other and didn't rush into things which was perfect for them - I would definitely describe this romance as a slow burn which also fits the story perfectly. Lottie's mum and Orla were wonderful characters and I loved how much they supported Lottie going after her dreams. I also really liked Max, Kim and Stephanie and what they created with Lottie along with the support they provided her.

The romance didn't at all feel rushed and I think it developed perfectly without feeling forced. I was also a fan of while there was miscommunication it wasn't a third act break up and that it was clean but hinted that they were having sex because sex scenes aren't what I normally pick up a book for - I don't mind them but it's nice for a book not to be focused on that sort of connection between characters.

I highly recommend this book as both a good romance book and a book perfect for the festive season. It will definitely be making some recommendations posts on my bookstagram this year.

Thank you to Netgalley and One More Chapter for a free e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

A sweet, sentimental holiday story set in a small Scottish town. It starts out with main character Lottie's career disruption when the Christmas store she manages is put out of business. She finds new work as an interior decorator at a set of holiday lodges, and the first quarter of the book focuses on her journey to reconcile herself to this change and transition to the new job. When the holiday lodge's hiking director, Blake, shows up - he's a curmudgeon who hates Christmas and takes an instant dislike to Lottie - the story veers into a more conventional romance. Blake is a fine love interest, but I enjoyed the decorating- and career-focused plot of the first part of the book!

A very nice enjoyable book. Set in the Highlands and it transports you there. The characters are easy to warm to and I liked it.

A nice, easy, romantic read. I spend a lot of time in the Highlands and love reading books set in familiar places, so I was excited about this one. But although it was an enjoyable read on the whole, I couldn't get out of my head how they could afford to employ so many people to run 4 lodges in the mountains.
