I was lucky enough to get an arc of Laurie Gilmore’s The Pumpkin Spice Cafe, and it was the perfect book to read on September 1st!!
this book is your go-to hallmark fall book— big city girl moves to a small town to run the local coffee shop, only to fall head over heels for the local farmer. Jeanie and Logan were precious, the town was adorable, and it was just what I needed to get into the autumn spirit. this book screams Gilmore girl vibes!!
If you like cozy, predictable, hallmark-y books, pick up this one today! A big thank you to NetGalley and One More Chapter for the advanced copy 🥰

This was such a fun autumn read. A genuinely well written book guaranteed to give you those ‘feel good’ vibes.
Jeanie leaves the big city in favour of running her aunt’s café in the quaint little town of Dream Harbour. Jeanie hopes to have a fresh start, finding herself and definitely not finding any strong, bearded, flannel wearing farmers to fantasise about. Imagine her disbelief when she meets Logan after investigating a mysterious sound coming from outside her café, nearly taking his head off in the process. As the mysterious sounds continue, and other unexplained things start happening, Logan offers his help to Jeanie who gratefully accepts. Logan really wants nothing more than stay away from her, fearing for his heart. But with investigating a mystery, chasing after rogue gazebos, trivia night, and the autumn festival – how is Logan supposed to stay away from her?
I read this book in a matter of hours. The atmosphere the author creates is wonderous and addicting. This is the perfect book to read this autumn as the vibes are immaculate. Not only does the author create an amazing atmosphere but she weaves a truly enjoyable story full of loveable characters and interesting relationships. I was never once bored and was eager to see where Jeanie and Logan would end up next and how it would shape their relationship. And I was always happy to read about anytime the other characters interacted with each other; Jeanie and the Book Club? Amazing. Jeanie with Hazel and Annie? Love. Logan and his Grandparents? Yes. Logan and Noah? Need.
The story itself was great. It had a nice depth to it without being information heavy; this was the same with how you learnt about the characters and their backgrounds. The book also made me laugh, and if you don’t know, a book that can make me laugh is always going to be a good one.
This book had me so utterly transfixed and wanting more stories of the other residents of Dream Harbour. I am so ready for autumn!
Thank you to One More Chapter, Harper Collins UK, Netgalley, and Laurie for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
If you like the Autumnal joy you get from those specific episodes of Gilmore Girls wrapped in a Hallmark movie format, this may be the book for you.
Jeanie's aunt gives her a cafe - the Pumpkin Spice Cafe, to be exact. New to town, she assumes the weird noises, the misplaced objects, and overall disturbances that are keeping her awake at night must have some explanation. Logan, who just wants to deliver his produce, thinks Jeanie's a bit out of it. And the town? The town just wants their favorite coffee shop to open back up.
So naturally, Jeanie and Logan have to work together to get things running smoothly.
This book, what I read of it, was pretty okay. Not great, not bad, but serviceable. There's definitely a nod to Luke and Lorelai in Jeanie and Logan, plus a nod to Stars Hollow when they head to the town meeting together, but overall the longer this lingered on my kindle, the less I felt compelled to finish it.
So for me: not a wow and not anything new to this genre, but I think for most, in September and October this is going to hit that spot that craves wearing a warm flannel while burning a candle and eating an apple cider donut.
The most wonderful, autumnal, cosy book! Jeanie moves to a small New England town to take on the eponymous café, in the process of reinventing her life. She’s met with mystery (who is sabotaging her?), friendship, and an incredibly hot farmer.
I adored this book, I went into it expecting a cute and cosy romcom (which it is! Does not disappoint!) but I got so much more as well. It is one of the funniest books I’ve read in a while, thanks to the hilarious cast of characters, yet is also emotionally deep enough to have made me cry.
Jeanie’s love interest, Logan, is awkward and fumbling and so! far! gone! for her; he’s actually the perfect character. The scene with him arriving home to the sight of his chickens climbing on her! I cannot get enough.
This might be a little niche, but I have been loving the trope (if you can call it that?) of the eccentric (and horny) local book club in the romances I’ve read recently, and I was delighted to see one in ‘The Pumpkin Spice Café’. Other fictional book clubs include the ones from the Queen’s Cove series by Stephanie Archer, and ‘The Beach Reads Book Club’ by Kathryn Freeman - both of which I highly recommend.
In summary, I love this utterly adorable book and I want to thank Laurie Gilmore for writing it. If you catch me re-reading it in October, trying to pretend that I’m having a beautiful New England autumn instead of a miserable London one, do not judge me.
Despite knowing how this book would pan out, despite the story being predictable I was drawn to the book. The writing style had an air of innocence and yet it exuded care and sensitivity.
Simply perfect! Grab your pumpkin spice latte at your favourite coffee shop and settle yourself down for a wonderful read. This is the perfect book to transition from summer to autumn, and with the romance, the cuteness and absolute joy.
The Pumpkin Spice Cafè is the perfect cozy book to read during the Fall. I absolutely loved everything about it. The romance was absolutely cute. The story follows our main characters Jeanie and Logan. Jeanie is new to town and the new owner of the town coffee shop. And then we have Logan, who is a local farmer. Both characters are struggling in life different ways and it was so nice seeing both of them acknowledging and overcoming their obstacles. I enjoyed the little mystery element in the story. Overall I enjoyed reading this amazing story. I can’t wait to have a physical copy in my collection. Thank you so much NetGalley for this amazing opportunity.
The Pumpkin Spice Cafe was the perfect book to read while I was craving fall but stuck in the dog days of summer. The cozy vibes and sweet romance (that for spicier than I was expecting!) was super fun and light, and just what I needed.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for this digital ARC.
The Pumpkin Spice Café is a sweet rom-com set in the small New England town of Dream Harbor. Peopled with interesting and likeable characters, this is the sort of place where everybody seems to care about each other and knows each other’s business. Jeanie Ellis used to visit her Aunt Dot at the Pumpkin Spice Café while she was growing up but in recent years, she’s become thoroughly sucked into her work as an administrative assistant.
After being gifted the café by her aunt, she returns to town as a bit of a nervous wreck, jumping at strange noises in the dark and struggling to relax. Enter hunky vegetable farmer Logan Anders and it’s lust at first sight for both of them. I loved watching Jeanie settle into the town while her feelings for Logan were growing. I loved that she managed to pull him out of the obvious funk he was in when he first set foot on the page. These two were really cute together. With some mystery vandalism happening at the café. there was a secondary plot to keep the pages turning whenever Logan and Jeanie weren’t trying to tear up the sheets. This has been a fun read.
Thank you net galley and Laurie Gilmore for sending me an ARC in exchange for a review!
The Pumpkin Spice Cafe was such a cute little read to start off the fall season! As a barista myself, it got me super excited to whip up some fall drinks for my regulars! Jeanie was totally relatable, and I loved getting to see her find herself in this new town! I will say that this book did seem to jump into the love story a little quickly for me, and it felt a little bit too much like insta-love for me. If that's your thing then you will 100% love this book!
If you’re in need of some pumpkin spice and small-town romance this season definitely give this one a shot!
I thought this was a great beginning of fall read to get you in the mood for pumpkin spice and Gilmore girls!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
This is a cozy mystery perfect for Gilmore Girls and grumpyxsunshine trope. The book follows Jeanie who was gifted a Pumpkin Spice Café by her aunt and is the perfect gift for someone seeking a new start. Her perfect plan to mind her own and start afresh is interrupted when she meets Logan who just wants to mind her own. It's a perfect summer read that will melt your icy heart . I loved the plot, the setting, the characters and the angst , Recommend!
The Pumpkin Spice Cafe is a quirky romantic mystery that follows the would be romance of Jeanne who inherited her aunts cafe and local farmer Logan with abandonment issues. While trying to solve the mystery of who's sabotaging the cafe they fight the sparks between them tooth and nail until finally love wins out.
The Pumpkin Spice cafe is a cute small town story about Jeanie, a career girl from Boston who starts a new life as the cafe owner in the small town of dream harbour, and Logan, the brooding local farmer. I enjoyed the book overall, especially the mystery part. I feel as though the reader gets to know the characters and the town well, but a lot of the book was character and world building rather than plot. Hopefully this means more books in the series. I’d definitely recommend this book for fans of the Gilmore Girls!
I enjoyed reading this American story. Loved how Jeanie and Logan get to know each other, and the will they won’t they romance story.
The book features a cafe, a book club, community spirit and new beginnings. A relaxing read, best served with a hot drink. #thepumpkinspicecafe
I LOVED this book. It has everything what a good romcom needs. She's sunshine and he's grumpy, I love that trope. I like that Logan, the main character, at the end of the book deicides to confront his problems by doing therapy, WHAT A MAN. Jeanie is a good example that it's never late to change your life, to go and seek what's better for you, even if you are afraid to fail or to not fit. This is a light book, perfect for relaxing and having fun.
ps, I find so funny the names of the animals in the farm.
I loved this book! Thank you to Net Galley and the author for the arc. This book is cozy, and perfect. It is basically an autumn Hallmark story. It is opposites attract. Logan is my new book boyfriend. Jeanie is very easy to get attached to which I love. My only complaint is that I wish there was more of the café aspect shown, for example I wish Jeanie's first day running the café had been in the book. If you like romance with a little bit of mystery, then this book is definitely for you. It feels like a hug and a warm cup of coffee. I wish the weather matched how this book made me feel. I want to go to a pumpkin patch now. I highly recommend this book.
I held out as long as I could, but the cozy autumn vibes have sucked me in. (To be fair, it's always autumn in my mind.)

The Pumpkin Spice Café by Laurie Gilmore is a cozy mystery lover's dream. Especially if you're like me and need more romance in your books. Jeanie has been given the Café by her aunt and left to figure things out. Between a whole new way of life, mysterious disturbances plaguing her nights(and some days), and a pumpkin weilding farmer, Jeanie's got her hands full. Logan, the local farmer and recluse, has no intention of getting close to anyone again. Definitely not another out-of-towner. But when he gets roped in to helping Jeanie with her spooky problem, the flannel flies, and shenanigans ensue.

This book was a delight from start to finish. I had a few moments of "ahhhh no! Don't do that! Don't say that!" But when you have characters with some flaws and fears, stupid things will happen. On the whole, though, this story was everything I needed. Quaint, New England, small-town vibes with an immaculate fall feeling. You almost feel like you're sitting in a cozy Café, spices in the air, leaves falling outside. Very sweet romance with some surprising spice! 🥵 (Logan may not like to talk, but his mouth works just fine.) And oh boy, the hilarious town hall with gossip and shenanigans reminiscent of a Gilmore Girls episode.
☕️
I highly recommend this story if you're in the mood for:
◇Cozy mystery romance
◇Grumpy/sunshine
◇Small town romance
◇A troublemaking cat named Casper.
◇A rambunctious book club that loves to talk smut over coffee, especially MM hockey smut.
◇ What it would be like if Luke and Lorelei got together sooner.

All the thanks to NetGalley and the author for this ARC opportunity. I can't wait to see what's next for the Dreamers.
This was such a super cute read to get you in the mood for a cozy autumn!
Think Hallmark Christmas Movie but make it Autumnal!
Small Town Romance at it's best, all of the characters had such vibrant personalities that just had me wanting to visit Dream Harbor and have my pumpkin spiced latte with the book club.
Logan and Jeanie were really sweet and adorable with their awkwardness. Jeanie did touch my heart a little when she felt like she had to tone it down because she would be considered too much. As someone who has been told this many times, never let anyone dim your light, blind them with your shine.
Laurie has set up the second book perfectly and I dare say there will be a book 3 too.
For me, don't come at me ladies, the spice didn't quite fit with the aesthetic of the book. It caught me off guard because the book was so sweet and lovely and then bam, here's the spice, and not just talking about the pumpkin kind. I think on this rare occasion I would have preferred some closed door sweetness.
I am excited to see where this series goes!
It is the perfect heartwarming read with unexpected mystery and spice. I liked Jeanie and Logan. She is looking for a better and more meaningful life. He wants someone to love but fears being humiliated and hurt, so he has a grumpy vibe. Circumstances and the entire town conspire to draw the couple together with exciting and ultimately happy results. An engaging mix of sweetness and spice. It's an immersive read that is hard to put down. I like the small town setting, the romance and the characters in this story.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
