Loved this book. My first book from this author. Made me a total fan with this book. would read this again and again.
This was a perfect cozy read with Dream Harbour giving us major small town Fall vibes which I absolutely loved. Jeannie and Logan are main characters and are total opposites who fall for eachother. It's Instalove if that's your thing. There's a book club, friendships and a happily ever after! I loved it.
This is everything I love! Cozy small town romance, fall vibes, coffee house vibes, and grumpy x sunshine trope that was done perfectly! I loved our setting, characters, and the humor.
A cute romance story, full of warmth and emotion. The storyline was well written and the characters were interesting. Would recommend.
Thank you to Laurie Gilmore, NetGalley, and Harper Collins UK – One More Chapter for the of this book.
I knew I would love this book just seeing the cover. A compelling, cozy and delightful narrative set in the season of Autumn in a small city of New England, EUA, wich makes the perfect match to fall in love, for the story, for the characters, for every emotion through the pages. Logan and Jennie are a great couple with well constructions and easy to connect with. Also the side characters are a good combinanton to the main pair, and I am looking foward to check the other books that are yet to come.
The Pumpkin Spice Cafe was just as cozy as a romance as you could have guessed based on the title. A little early, but it really did put me in the mood for fall. This romance novel even included a small mystery, adding to the fall vibes. I loved Jeanie and Logan's character; very much an opposites attracts romance story. It really was a quick and delightful read! I finished it in two sittings, I had trouble putting it down.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Okay, I really enjoyed this book! The small town setting felt so cosy and Jeanie & Logan were the perfect GrumpyxSunshine pair but the plot was a bit too cliche and predictable. There was insta-love so I felt like there wasn't much romantic development between Jeanie & Logan. But overall it was a cute read with good characters and good writing!
Thank you Netgalley for providing me the ARC in exchange of an honest review
Thank you, NetGalley and One More Chapter, for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own
We are following Jeanie after she inherits a cafe from her aunt. We have her meeting at the town hall about her mystery intrude turns out to be well-read and find out. This boon made me smile Logan and Jeanie are great characters, and as much as it's a slow burn, it works for this sweet romance.
The writing style is friendly and easy to follow, and you get that hug-in-a-book feeling when reading this.
Logan is such a grump, but I adore his character
Jeanie
I felt I was in this small village with the primary characters because of the most outstanding character dynamics! It had the ideal number of supporting players and love-interest moments. I thought I was seeing a television program unfold before my eyes. I always wanted to learn more about the various characters and their antics!
This is such a lovely palate cleanser of a book.
The book's first half was filler, and the central characters didn't interact much until almost halfway through. I understand that some people might not enjoy this and think it's too sluggish, but I thought it pleasant. But after that, the number quickly changed from 0 to 100. They did have a small mystery to solve, which had an ominous, Halloween-like feel.
Logan turned into a bit of a jerk towards the end, and he need to have just spoken to Jeanie, in my opinion.
The pumpkin spice cafe is the cosiest Grumpy x Sunshine romance which follows the story of Jeanie who is gifted her aunt’s pumpkin spice cafe! Meanwhile, local farmer Logan wants to deliver fresh fruits and veg while staying out of everyone's business. Whilst Jeanie is starting fresh in her new life, something doesn't seem quite right at the cafe… Logan, who has successfully remained out of the town's gossip, somehow finds himself being persuaded by Jeanie and his own ‘feelings’ to help her out.
4/5
I read this book on a very rainy summer day and I must admit, this has put me in the most autumnal spirit! I'm feeling ready for Halloween and trees to go orange. This book had everything I wanted from it, the perfect small-town romance and the most amazing leading man, I mean if I have to move town and open a cafe to get a farmer Logan sign me up on the dotted line please and thank you!
This had the most amazing character dynamics and I really found myself in this small town with the main characters! It honestly had the perfect amount of side characters and love-interest moments. I felt like I was watching a tv show play out in front of my eyes. I constantly wanted to know about each character and what they were up to!
The opposites attract trope really hit me right in the feels and I devoured this book in a few sittings. I've never been one to read small-town romances before but it is definitely now one I will be picking up more often and hopefully, I will read more of Laurie Gilmore's work as I'm utterly obsessed!
Oh I love a sweet small town story. The name of this book was so adorable so I knew the story would be too and it didn’t disappoint. Jeanie is such a sweet Happy character who you would want as a friend. Logan is hard working has lovely grandparents and a home for rescue animals I loved his chickens. You get to meet the side characters who make you want to know their story’s too. The town was a cute hallmark setting I would love to live in. The story brought the characters to life they were so well written they felt so real. I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves a small town cute love story
A cute and cozy romance for readers who enjoy autumn in small town New England, grumpy/sunshine tropes, and plenty of pumpkin spice everything! I'm torn between two and a half and three stars, so I'm rounding up.
*I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
It felt like Jeanie was too interested in Logan way too quickly and there were a couple of sections where Logan felt a little repetitive in the beginning.
I did love the small town, cozy fall feeling… it makes me want to move to a small town that has more of a fall than I do. The whole cat ordeal mystery was cute and the name Jeanie picked was perfect for the setting of the story.
The first part of the book was mostly fluff and not much happened between the main characters until almost halfway through the book. I know some people may not love this and feel like it’s too slow but it was kind of nice actually. But then it went from 0 to 100 really quickly. They did have a little mystery to solve which felt very October-ish and Halloween like.
I hated that Logan was was kind of a jerk towards the end and really should have just talked to Jeanie.
Overall, it’s a cute story and is a good fluffer book or palette cleanser.
"The Pumpkin Spice Cafe" by Laurie Gilmore was a fun, quick read. Fall is my favorite season and this book totally captured that perfectly.
The Pumpkin Spice Café by Laurie Gilmore is a great contemporary romance full of autumn festivities and light of heart.
I enjoyed this opposites attract, happily ever after contemporary romance that was set amongst the fall harvest backdrop. I love anything fall/autumn/Halloween, and this really put me into the crisp weather mood.
Jeannie and Logan are definite opposites when their paths cross in small town Bream Harbor, but as the saying goes…opposites do attract. Each seems to begin to work through their own concerns and come together in the middle.
I enjoyed the descriptions of the town, the addition of the season, and the cast of secondary characters. It all added to the overall story.
4/5 stars
Thank you NG and Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter for this wonderful arc and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.
I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon, Instagram, and B&N accounts upon publication on 8/30/23.
This was a fabulous and cozy read! The pacing is great for this type of book, and the characters are charming.
I truly adored the setting, this adorable little town where I'd move in a heartbeat, and Jeanie and Logan were absolutely fantastic.
The reason why I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5? There are two:
First, I can understand where Logan is coming from and his abandonment issues, but I got "bored" pretty fast with his behavior. He kept assuming things about Jeanie when she didn't give him a reason to.
Second, the book was wonderful, but I found myself not to be in a rush to finish it. Usually, I want to know what happens next, so the fact that I didn't do that here means that maybe it was a bit too predictable and nice. Not that that's a bad thing! Sometimes you just need a calm and easy read to get through a difficult day, and this is the book for that occasion!
Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Overall an enjoyable read, with lovely cosy autumnal vibes! This book is very Insta love and the MCs relationship progresses very quickly after meeting. The characters were cute but Insta love isn’t my favourite trope (I’m more of a slow burn gal!) so I struggled to believe the pace with which the story progressed a little.
Definitely a solid read, particularly if you like: Insta Love

3.25 stars ⭐️ nothing wrong with this book at all, just a personal preference! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
The Pumpkin Spice Cafe is the perfect, autumnal read. Full of laughter, romance and of course, coffee! (PS coffee naturally) and with a HEA, The Pumpkin Spice Cafe should be on your 'must read' list this August.
Our story commences with Jeanie, a high-flying professional who is moving to the small town of Dream Harbour to run her aunt's bakery. With a highly active imagination, Jeanie soon believes that there is a 'serial killer type' lurking in the alley behind the bakery and nearly attacks Logan, our hunky farmer. First all, their initial interaction is genuinely funny and second of all, go Jeanie!! I love a feisty female protoganist.
And with a title such as The Pumpkin Spice Cafe, it is no surprise that this novel is set at the time of Autumn and into Halloween, with lots of references to costumes, pumpkins, leaves etc
There are multiple romances in the novel, and the story moves at a rapid pace with plenty of 'will they/won't they' moments to keep the reader amused.
The Pumpkin Spice Café by L. Gilmore, published by Harper Collins UK / One More Chapter is a stand-alone, grumpy/ sunshine cozy romance mystery.
Jeanie kind of inherits a cafeshop from her aunt and soon she needs help. Help from grumpy mcgrumperson Logan.
Logan is his own island, and when newbie Jeanie needs his help he's all no, nope no way, not me. But he can't get the spunky girl out of his head.
A witty and fun, perfect beach read. Set in a small town an entertaining enemies-to-lovers read that gives all the feels.
A charming small town romance with sizzling chemistry and plenty of spice. Perfect for fans of Sarah Adams and Tessa Bailey. The Pumpkin Spice Cafe is a warming story of two people who find themselves instantly attracted to each other but are held back by their past experiences. It's an easy lighthearted read set in a beautiful autumn country town with new friendships, a bit of a mystery, and lots of romance. It had me smiling from Chapter 1.
The book gives you real cozy vibes from the cafe with its cheerful new owner, the farmers market with warm apple cider, pies and pumpkin spiced lattes, the trivia night in the local pub, to the autumn festival with its costume contest, there's plenty happening in the town of Dream Harbour.
Thank you Net Galley and One More Chapter for providing me with a copy of this book for a honest review.
“The Pumpkin Spice Café” follows Jeanie who moves to Dream Harbour to inherit her aunts coffee shop. There she meets Logan the town farmer who delivers her fresh produce from his crops. While Jeanie is trying to rebuild her life from zero and Logan is trying to avoid her at all costs, will they develop feelings?
I LOVED THIS SO BAD. The vibes of the small town were immaculate, the cast of people around Jeanie and Logan amazing, the story soooo heartwarming.
Jeanie was so cute, she was the definition of sunshine and I loved her attitude all throughout the story. Logan was such a sweetheart, he had me melting on the floor most times, he was grumpy without being arrogant or rude and I loved how loving and caring he was not only to Jeanie but also all his friends.
Hazel and Annie were such supportive and patient friends, and if we will get books about them I’ll definitely pick them up because the crumbs we got were not enough for me. The book club were iconic honestly, what a group how can you not love them.
This was exactly what I needed I have no words. I expected to like it because it’s a small town grumpy x sunshine romance, but it swept me off my feet. It was so cute and fun and heartwarming to read this.
I recommend this if you’re into small town romance, grumpy x sunshine, found family.
