This book screams Gilmore Girls, it screams Stars Hollow, so I really recommend it to anyone who likes this series!!! 😍
In this book we have a sexy farmer and a girl, newly arrived in town. Obviously they're going to hook up and don't be fooled by the cute cover because this book has a lot of spicy scenes 😂
We've got grumpy x sunshine, we've got small town and we've got descriptions that scream autumn and transport us to Dream Harbor. I can't wait for the second in the series to come out 🤭
Thank you NetGalley and One More Chapter for the copy 🫶🏼
This little story was absolutely adorable. Sometimes you want a cozy read that doesn’t require a lot of thinking and cute moments. Although I do wish we had more of his grandparents (maybe we can get a flashback novella of their story?). This is a perfect book to take on a weekend getaway, especially in the fall. I anticipate the next installment and will certainly need this on my bookshelf
This was such a warm and cozy read!! Whenever there is talk of a small town romance, one is always reminded of either Stars Hollow or Bluebell, and here, the author being a Gilmore only goes all that better with the theme!!
Having said so, gosh, okay, Logan's description is so perfectly done that he gets entry onto everyone's list of book boyfriends by default! There is not even a debate over it, whatsoever!! And Jeanie? She is certainly the exact brand of sunshine this somewhat grumpy farmer needed in his life.
His struggle coming to terms with his past is very realistic and so is the effect it has on his present. On the other hand, establishing that Jeanie isn't just running from life but is willing to stay is portrayed very well too.
Reading this book has been a long time coming for me, but now that I have finally finished it, I am reminded why I wanted to read it and why I requested it in the first place. This is totally my brand of spice! Not totally closed-door either and not very extremely explicitly just that chapter after chapter either. Just a perfect sprinkling to get those pages turning..!
If there is a sequel planned for this, it would be lovely to get into the stories of the other potential couples hinted at in this one!! Forever on the lookout here in that case!
This was a cute fall read but I felt a little disconnected from the MC. The miscommunication trope was beat to death but it was a cute easy read.
The Pumpkin Spice Cafe served up THE cosiest vibes and a hallmark worthy romance - fun and flirty, sweet yet 🔥spicy🔥 and quintessentially autumnal, it's an easy-to-devour-in-one-sitting, under a cosy blanket, hot drink in hand, type of read. I really enjoyed it! 🧡🍃
The Pumpkin Spice Cafè was the most perfect, easy-read for the start of October. No, it’s not the most amazing, mind-blowing book I’ve ever read, but a solid 3 star cozy romance for this time of the year! It goes between autumnal descriptions that made me feel warm inside, to hot & heavy steamy moments 😅
A light and breezy romance perfect for cosy nights in under a blanket with a nice hot chocolate.
Jeanie moves to Dream Harbour when she inherits her aunts cafe, leaving her old life behind for this quaint small town. Things don't seem to be quote right though, when she starts hearing noises at night. Logan, the local farmer offers to help her with a stake out, but maybe it ends up being more.
This was a really easy read, it felt warm and comforting and I just enjoyed spending time in Dream Harbour with the gang. The side characters were fun and I thought the banter between them all was amusing.
Hopefully there is a book 2, so I get to spend some more time with them all.
In this grumpy meets sunshine story, Jeanie is eager for a fresh start in life. Her aunt has gifted her the Pumpkin Spice Cafe in a small town reminiscent of Stars Hollow (Gilmore Girls). Shortly upon arrival, she meets gorgeous and grumpy Logan. She depends on this local farmer for her delivery of pumpkins. Of course, he also volunteers to help her solve the mysterious noises and small acts of vandalism. As Jeanie wins over customers one spice latte at a time, things heat up between Jeanie and Logan.
I always appreciate stories of starting over and the determined, independent women who embrace the challenge. However, insta-love and miscommunication tropes are not my favorite.
As this story is compared to Gilmore Girls, I was a bit surprised by the amount of steam. Maybe "spice" in the title should have given me a clue! Overall, I enjoyed the sunshine/grumpy, found family, and small town tropes, but I prefer closed door romance. I would have liked more emphasis on character development and less steam.
Content Consideration: Steam Level 3.5-4
If you enjoy the premise of spicy Hallmark movie meets Gilmore Girls, you might enjoy the Pumpkin Spice Cafe.
Thanks #NetGalley @OneMoreChapter_ for a complimentary eARC of #ThePumpkinSpiceCafe upon my request. All opinions are my own.
A cute and sexy romance set in a small town during the greatest season….fall! I definitely recommend this one to the romantics who want to get in the fall spirit!
Autumnal with plenty of spice. The Pumpkin Spice Cafe has opened its doors to a whirlwind of a story. Beautifully written, comforting with grumpy sunshine at the heart of it. I loved it!
The Pumpkin Spice Cafe is a heartwarming story inviting you into a cozy world filled with comforting characters and moments. Set in a charming care, Laurie tells a story of personal growth, friendship and unexpected love… Everything you desire when your looking for a book to make you warm and fuzzy.
Laurie chose a diverse cast of characters, each with their own unique challenges and dreams. Each of them undergoing meaningful transformations and discovering love in the unlikeliest of places, all while enjoying the comfort of the cafe. With vivid descriptions that almost make you feel the autumn breeze and smell of delicious treats, Laurie captures the essence of life so beautifully.
The Pumpkin Spice Cafe reminds us of the beauty of lifes small moments and the power of love and friendship. This heartwarming story reminds us of the magic that can be found in our everyday lives and left me feeling warm and comforted, just like a pumpkin spiced latte.
The Pumpkin Spice Cafe does what it says on the tin - it is a cozy, sweet romance that's pretty easy to down.
The novel is Jeanie and Logan's story. Both have been burnt by different circumstances in life and they are each running away from past experiences when they run into each other, early one morning outside the cafe Jeanie's Aunt has put her in charge of. The sparks fly quickly and soon they are in a 'will they/won't they' get together kind of situation.
While the cast of characters is easy to like, they are a little shallow and it seems like every misunderstanding is a huge obstacle that gets blown out of proportion. It was slightly frustrating at times when it seemed like the most logical thing for people getting to know each other was like, to get to know each other!
Other than that, I enjoyed the read and finished it pretty quickly. It definitely has lots of autumnal vibes and you'll want a PSL and some gingerbread by your side to wash it down. Many thanks to the publishers and netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this cute book! It was the right amount of cozy and perfect for the season right around the corner. Not my typical genre but I enjoyed it tremendously
Loved this book - it is like a hallmark movie. Perfect for autumn nights snuggled in a blanket.
Jeanies Aunt gifts her The Pumpkin Spice Cafe in a small town called Dream Harbour. Jeanie moves there not knowing anyone or how to run a cafe. She meets the handsome but aloof farmer called Logan who doesn't really want to be tangled up with a love interest after being hurt before. This is such a fab book - lovely easy read that will make you lived in Dream Harbour! Looking forward to the rest of the series of books
Loved this adorable “it’s fall y’all” small town romance. Perfect for fans of the television show Gilmore Girls.
This was a super cute Autumn, New England, grumpy/sunshine, cozy romantic story that you can read in a day. Especially when you have nowhere to go. Literally.
I threw my back out this morning and was down for the count with pillows, tea, ice, Deep Blue and this arc. Just what the doctor would have ordered had I seen one. Hallmarky setting and cute characters yet open door romance, so 🌶️🌶️. Totally had the Stars Hollow/Gilmore Girls vibes in the quaint Dream Harbor town and was a fun escape as I lay all day on my couch or floor 🤪
3.5⭐️
The perfect October book!! Jeanie takes over her aunt’s cafe in a small cozy town. She meets the local farmer, Logan, and sparks are flying! Logan has a past he’s trying the get over and Jeanie is trying to make her “new life” works so she’s overcoming some personal battles as well.
I liked that there was also a few mysterious things happening to the cafe that Jeanie is trying to figure out as well!
There’s a lot of miscommunication and the writing style just wasn’t for me. It’s not 3rd person and hops around so much that if the author would have done Jeanie’s POV Ana and Logan’s POV it would have been way better!
Thanks Netgalley for my ARC!
Looking to dive into the coziest corner of literary autumn? Well, look no further because "The Pumpkin Spice Cafe" by Laurie Gilmore is an absolute fall-tastic delight that'll have you craving pumpkin-flavored everything!
Meet Jeanie, our charming protagonist, as she makes her return to the enchanting Dream Harbor, ready to take the reins of her Aunt's beloved coffee shop. Nestled in this quintessential small town are a bakery, a bookstore, and even a pub – all huddled together on the same quaint street. It's a place where town meetings have their own rhythm, the book club feels like a warm embrace, and friendships are as golden as the falling leaves. Could this setting be any more reminiscent of the cozy haven in Gilmore Girls? I think not!
But hold onto your infinity scarves, because here comes Logan – the hunky, flannel-wearing farmer who's as endearing as he is built. Still nursing the heartache from his last relationship, he's the town's favorite underdog, with everyone rooting for his happiness.
As Jeanie juggles the delightful chaos of running a café and wrestling with a mysterious saboteur, Logan finds himself caught in a whirlwind of emotions for the new girl. Determined not to make the same mistakes twice.
"The Pumpkin Spice Cafe" is a literary treat as heartwarming as a steaming mug of apple cider on a crisp fall morning. It's a recipe crafted with generous helpings of heart, humor, a dash of enigma, and just the right amount of unexpected sizzle. For anyone who's ever basked in the glow of lighthearted romance, binged on Hallmark movies, or daydreamed of swapping places with a Gilmore, this book is your irresistible invitation.
So, grab your comfiest blanket, cozy up with this autumnal masterpiece, and if you're feeling extra indulgent, pair it with a pumpkin spice latte – the literary equivalent of a perfect fall day.
Absolutely adored this story of a woman rebuilding (Jeannie) and the grumpy heartbroken farmer of women’s fantasies (Logan). The perfect small town, fall setting. I’m a sucker for a love story, especially one set in a coffee shop.
This book was like a nice warm hug, with a little bit of spice. Nothing too crazy for the more tame romance readers. Definitely worth a read!
This was absolutely everything I could have asked for when it comes to a cosy and autumnal romance!
I loved the characters and the romance definitely felt realistic and was incredibly sweet to watch develop. I also loved the very warm small town dynamic that was going on and getting to see the way all of the characters intertwined.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Gilmore Girls (obviously) and also anyone who enjoyed Lovelight Farms as the small town vibes are pretty similar, and the characters are equally as easy to fall in love with.
A big and brilliant four stars from me, and this has definitely put me in the mood to curl up under a pile of blankets with my very own pumpkin spice latte.
(Thank you very much to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review).
