The joy of the love between a grandparent and grandchild flows from the pages. The relationship that everyone would hope for. The colours in this book are absolutely gorgeous. Enjoy this book as you cuddle up together.

I really love the way Grandmama shows Joy that old isn’t necessarily something she should avoid. A very important message for children today who think everything needs to be new and modern. Sometimes old can be beautiful too.

I won't lie...I was a bit hesitant about this book because of the illustrations. I'm not a huge fan of the style that's sort-of realistic but also not. But once I started reading, I was so invested and found the beauty in the illustrations. It is such a sweet story, and I can't wait for it to be published to add to my library's collection!

Charming and nostalgic, this book highlights the beauty of old and timeless. In a world where we are often chasing after novelty and the next hottest trend, this feels like a very fitting read. The illustrations are gorgeous as well.

I loved this sweet book about slowing down and appreciating the things we already have and the time spent with loved ones. I loved the colorful illustrations and the character they have. My favorite panels were the old tree and Joy on the staircase. Both offered a glimpse into a child's perspective where everything seems much bigger!

Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

Thank you, Gnome Road Publishing, for the advance reading copy.

We know how much grateful we are for having our grandparents while growing up. Lucky we are who get a chance at this!

This book is just one amazing example of this! Joy gets to experience so much beautiful things with her grandmother. She gets to discover the joy and beauty of everyday things we get to see and experience. This book is a celebration of family bond and nature as well!

Lovely illustrations and quite representative I would say!

This beautiful, unique picture book is about a little girl's experience visiting her grandmother. The girl feels out of place in the old neighborhood filled with old trees, and in the old house filled with old things, but as she spends time with her grandmother, she comes to see things through her grandmother's eyes and appreciates this environment and slower pace of life.

This book is a lovely tribute to grandparent relationships and the importance of not judging things based on your initial impression. This will appeal to anyone who is looking for a good book about appreciating old things and the wisdom of elders, and it will be especially meaningful for people who identify with the characters' cultural heritage as African Americans. The author's personal reflections in the note at the end are also lovely.
