"The Bear and Her Book," is a lovely story about a bear who yearns for more. We follow the bear on her travels in her attempt to find her place in the world. At each stop, she utilizes her book to help those she meets along the way. The illustrations as well as the lyrical poetry were perfect. Very reminiscent of Paddington the bear, except with a fondness for books rather than marmalade.

As someone who loves to read (and is hoping to instill that same love of reading into my child), I absolutely loved this book! The bear embarks on a journey around the world, taking the reader with her. While she travels, she encounters creatures in needs, thus offering two impactful lessons: the importance of being kind and helping others and the ability to find what ones needs from within a book, be it a solution to a problem, information, or simply the ability to escape to another world. There were a few rhymes that were a bit off, such as the section on the sandy shore, which may cause the person reading the book aloud to stumble a bit before getting used to the phrasing. That said, I feel that the illustrations and overall aesthetic are equally important in a picture book, if not more so, and Sophia O'Connor knocked it out of the park. THE BEAR AND HER BOOK is one that I'll want for our personal library at home so that we can read it often.

I loved the illustrations in the Bear and Her Book, there was a lot of beautiful detail on each page and wonderful use of color and light. The story rhymes for the most part, giving it a sing-song quality when read out loud. I like that there is a repeating phrase "The world is big, and there's much to see, and a bear must go where she wants to be" announces each travel transition as the bear explores the world. She totes around her big book of bear wisdom until the very end where she discovers volume two and settles down in a book store! A sweet adventure story.

This book is so cute! The bear keeps looking for more and more and then realizing that her own life with her book is enough. A sweet story that bear lovers and adventurers will surely gravitate to. It would be a sweet baby shower or birthday gift for a young child. The illustrations were beautiful.

I am very much impressed with the lyrical poetry of this book as well as the illustrations.

This book is all about one female bear who was roaming around all the places to find her ultimate peace in. She was carrying a book "Bear’s Big Book of Being Wise" and hence while travelling whoever she met, she did a treatment for the injuries or illness they were having. At last she boarded a ship and during that she realized that having book can fix different problems and even help her making more friends.

'Frances Tosdevin' has done a very promising work for the book-lovers and this picture book will let more children falling towards book reading. 'Sophia O'Connor' is an illustrator of this book, and, I must say, she did a remarkable job.

In my own words, "There is a book on every single subject known to humanity, what you pick decides what you become."

I adored this book! I loved the sense of adventure, the compassion toward other critters who crossed the bear’s path, and the illustrations are beautiful. This is definitely one that I enjoyed sharing with my own young kids.

The Bear and Her Book is an elementary librarian’s dream book! A bear sets off to see the world with nothing but her book, Bear’s Big Book of Being WIse. Her book proves to be useful in helping animals she encounters with different ailments they have - which is a great way for educators to prove the value of nonfiction books. Her book also takes her to a number of different places - which is a great way for educators to showcase the fact that books can take our minds anywhere! The Bear and Her Book reads with a beautiful cadence and rhyme and is accompanied by gorgeous, rich illustrations. A perfect book for bedtime, classrooms, and libraries!

Thank you NetGalley and Jolly Fish Press for my ebook advance reader’s copy.

A curious, book-carrying bear - what's not to like in in this delightful picture book? Add to that rhymes that scan well for read-aloud and I predict a future storytime favorite. I'm not sure I agree with the logic that there's no need to explore the world once the bear is ensconced happily in a bookstore, but who is to quibble when the journey to get there is so much fun! Highly recommended.

Review based on an eARC received through NetGalley.

Follow bear as he searches for more through this delightful book that works well as a read aloud book due to its rhyming lines. Along with being a good read, the pictures are charming and have you looking at each detail.

Bear journeys to explore the world and find where she wants to be. Along the way, she encounters animals who need help. With her Big Book of Being Wise, she helps them along the way.

I love the illustrations, they are visually appealing with fun details to look at. I could see my library using this book for a story time or a story walk. This book is about being curious and helping others.

Five-star book. The cadence of this book is spot on, and every rhyme works well. Add to that amazing and beautiful artwork and this book is the best. This book is about a bear who knows they want more books and every time they need a new friend, they use their book to help this new friend.

This lovely little book has bear exploring the world with their favorite book in search of learning more.

It's a cute story concept, but what really caught my attention is the gorgeous pictures accompanied by poetry.

Thanks to Netgalley, Frances Tosdevin, Sophia O'Connor, and uclanpublishing for providing an arc in return for an honest review. Every now and again I love to read children's storybooks to enjoy a pure, beautiful, and wholesome read. The bear and her book provided just that for me.

Bear has decided to set out on an adventure with her favorite book by her side. Along the way she comes across fellow animals and helps them as she searches for a place that is perfect for her.

The story handles morals in a thoughtful and entertaining manner that I think all kids can enjoy. The art is beautiful down and the writing style is very fluid.

I recommend this to anyone who wants a beautiful sweet book to add to their shelves.

This is an absolutely charming book -- from the rich illustrations to the lilting rhymes of the text, I loved following Bear on her journey. I especially appreciated the message that you might help others along the way to finding your place in the world. The fact that her destination happened to be filled with books was a bonus! We'll definitely be purchasing this title for our library and recommending it as a great choice for read-alouds.

I do love this beautiful book but not as much as my youngest granddaughter does. For weeks it has been the only book she wants at bedtime. Thankfully after such a long time she has memorized the works that she cannot get read. I can just look at the marvellous illustrations. A much loved book.

This book is about the power of literacy. A bear wanders off in hopes of finding something more satisfying, but realizes books can take you anywhere.

The Bear and Her Book is a story that showcases the endless possibilities and information found within books. While the story sends a positive message about reading, I was left feeling incomplete at the end. Perhaps it felt like the story was headed in a different direction than it did.

Throughout the story, the bear is feeling restless wherever she goes. We travel to the ocean, a jungle, and a desert. At these places, she helps sick animals by referencing the book she brought along on the journey. Kindness and compassion for those encountered stood out as she helps to cure them. The story's progress is brought on by the bear feeling like she "needs more". Lastly, she hides in a box on a ship that is heading to a city. The hiding scene made it seem like the bear needed to hide to be allowed in human spaces. If I was reading this book aloud, children would interpret this part with a sense of dread for the bear.

In the end, the bear finds a bookstore in the city and finally feels like she has everything she needs. She is happy. As the reader, you are left feeling incomplete at the end.

I received this book for free from Netgalley for an honest review.
This was a sweet, cute book. The rhyming keeps my children engaged and they loved the other characters that the bear met as she found her way through the world. I appreciate children's books that are to the point and tell a journeying story for the character. it helps keep the children interested. The cover is gorgeous as well and I can imagine the pictures will be as well.
