This has been a highly anticipated book! It seemed like daily, I was checking Amazon for my preorder copy to arrive. While waiting, I got to listen to the audiobook version. Let me say, it did not disappoint! At a certain point in this book, my theory for how this book would let me questioning everything I just read. In true Freida fashion, the ending it always what gets you! I truly loved the narrator for this thriller. Her different character voices are spot on and makes the audio so seamless.
Thank you NetGalley!

I went into this book with high hopes from everything else I’ve read by Frieda but this one fell flat. I’m not sure if it’s because it all takes places in one night and the story line doesn’t change, or the fact that some parts were just unbelievable. Maybe I just don’t know much about Ward D type patients but some of the characters seemed far fetched and I never really understood the issue with the main character. Her ‘thoughts’ bounced back and forth and overall made the story confusing. Would not recommend this book to a friend. But it doesn’t keep me from more Freida novels!
Thank You Dreamscape Media, NetGalley and Feida McFadden for the opportunity to enjoy the audiobook version of this this ARC.

Amy is a medical student and on her psychiatric rotation. She has to spend a night in Ward D, the hospital’s inpatient mental health unit. Amy has reasons why she doesn’t want to do this rotation and she plans on keeping those reasons hidden.
As the hours tick by, slowly, Amy grows convinced that something terrible is happening. When patients, and staff, start vanishing without a trace, it becomes abundantly clear that everyone is in danger.
As Amy grapples with who to trust, her worst nightmare is starting to come true.
WOW! This book! It was amazing! I ended up reading two media thrillers on the same day and I loved them both. This one was such a unique experience, and I absolutely loved it. The pacing was well done, which was needed since this one is set over a period of hours. You need special writing skills to make it not get boring – and Freida McFadden delivered! This book was so descriptive that I felt I was right there in the psychiatric ward with Amy and the patients. All the characters were well developed and well done. The twists and reveals were amazing, and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this read.
The narrator on this one was fantastic and did not disappoint. She sounded exactly like how I would imagine Amy sounded. It was the perfect casting.
This one came out on the 9th so make sure to grab a copy now – you won’t want to miss it!
Thank you so much to Dreamscape Media, @dreamscape_media, and Netgalley, @netgalley for this ALC copy in exchange for an honest review.
Netgalley will be updated when posted.

Wow! I wasn’t sure what to expect but Ward D surpassed my expectations!
The storyline/ subject matter might be sensitive for some readers.
Spending an overnight shift in a Psychiatric ward would be a challenge for any med student but Any isn’t even specializing in Psychiatry. That 12 hour shift is more than enough to change her life.
I enjoyed listening to the audiobook version. The narration by Leslie Howard was very easy to listen to- clear and well paced.
Thank You Dreamscape Media, NetGalley and Feida McFadden for the opportunity to enjoy the audiobook version of this this ARC.

Ward D starts out with medical student Amy Brennan, learning that it is her turn to complete her rotation in the psychiatric ward. Amy is immediately hesitant about this part of her rotation but knows that she can’t back out of it. She has worked tirelessly to get this far in her program just to quit now. When Amy arrives for her shift, she sees ex is also on rotation the same night, which only adds more anxiety to Amy. Amy has another hesitation about the rotation, her ex-best friend is a patient on the ward and Amy feels responsible for her landing there.
As the rotation begins several strange situations start to arise. The lights go out, patients go missing, and some of the staff starts to disappear. Amy begins to worry if she will survive the night, especially once her ex- best friend realizes she is there and probably is seeking revenge.
I thought the descriptiveness of the overall ward and the patients were spot on. Each character was well done and added value to the events that were unfolding. I thought the events were suspenseful until about half way through and then it was easy to see where the story was headed. In true Freida fashion it is a quick, easy read cat and mouse game. This is going to be perfect for Freida McFadden fans.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.

Truly phenomenal! Freida never disappoints. I really enjoyed this one , it’s one of my new favorite thrillers. The audio version was fantastic as well!

Amy is a medical student in her psychiatric rotation. She goes in for her shift and is quite anxious to stay inside the locked unit overnight. Things don’t go quite as expected when Amy realizes she knows at least one person she’ll be locked on the unit with. Amy also has to deal with her own issues as we discover through this dual timeline that flashes back to her childhood.
The premise of this book terrified me. I couldn’t put it down and had no idea who to trust and who would survive throughout the night. I always love short chapters. I started listening to it on my night shift and I don’t know if I would recommend that 💀😂. To say the least it had me feeling uneasy. I enjoyed the audiobook narrator for this one as well. If you are a thriller lover and haven’t read one of her books yet you need to pick one up asap!
Thank you to @netgalley and @dreamscapemedia for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

I had to take a second look at what I was listening to because the start of this book reminded me so much of the inmate. I thought I was rereading the story.
A couple of chapters in, the story started going in a different direction and is precisely what you would expect from a Freida McFadden novel. So many twists in the story, you get worried you'll get whiplash. The story is very suspenseful and you start getting attached to characters and hoping they end up okay, even though you know they won't. You can really see McFadden's medical background in the story. She doesn't make it over-complicated, where you would have to work in the medical field to understand what's going on, but it's also not unrealistic.
The narrator was perfect. She narrators very clearly and the character's voices don't get confusing or mixed up. Very easy to keep up and engaging.

I requested this one because it might be an upcoming title I would like to review on my Youtube Channel. However, after reading the first several chapters I have determined that this book does not suit my tastes. So I decided to DNF this one.

📖 Quick and easy read

🤼 Unlikeable characters
~ Thoughts ~
It felt like such a negative representation of mental illnesses from how Amy described them, she did not sound professional at all. For example, she described patients as “crazy” and people who have lost their mind.
This sounded like a YA book, and the characters sounded immature. For example, it was mentioned multiple times that Amy was dumped due to a test and people wearing heavy makeup. I couldn’t tell the difference in maturity in the 2 timelines that were several years apart. It all just felt like petty drama. There was so much build up around Amy knowing one of the patients, but their meeting was anticlimactic.
Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio ARC.

Thank you @dreamscapemedia @netgalley for a copy of this audiobook. McFadden does such an amazing job with thrillers that just grabs you from the get go and bringing all the twist. This story centers on Amy, a medical student who is on her first over night rotation in the psychiatric ward. The creepy vibe of the ward and Amy's paranoia is brought to life by the narrator. I love how Amy didn't know who she could trust and felt her stress with each passing hour.

In the book Ward D, author Freida McFadden follows medical student Amy Brenner who is taking a rotation spending the night on a locked-down psychiatric ward. Then Amy’s ex-boyfriend shows up to do the rotation with her. And is one of the residents Amy’s friend from high school? And who really belongs in Ward D? Amy? Things are not what they seem but who can Amy trust?
This is a good fast pace psychological thriller. I would highly recommend this book. The audio-book narration was very good. I received a copy of this audio-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love a good Freida McFadden book, However, this twist was way too over the top for me.
It was a wild ride but man that twist just put me off.
The audiobook was great and completly love the narrator choice,

This is the second book I’ve read by Freida McFadden, and WOW, I’m officially a fan! She knows how to write a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. I listened to the audiobook version, and the narrator made the story come alive. I could feel Amy’s fear as she entered Ward D, and the character development of the patients was excellent! Good ol’ Spider Man was a personal fave. I’ve already recommended this book to several friends.

Ward D is a locked door mystery about a medical student who has to spend an overnight rotation on a psychiatric ward, and is really dreading it. Have you ever stayed up all night and reached the point of exhaustion where things start happening that don't seem to make any sense? That is what this book reminded me of. It has lots of great likeable, flawed characters who do the funniest things, and I never could have guessed the reasons why. Freida McFadden is a genius to come up with all these twists! I got to listen to the audiobook version of this one, and the way Leslie Howard narrates it also really draws you in and makes you want to know more about all of the characters, even the bad ones, if you could only figure out who they are!

Amy is a hard working medical student, preparing to become a doctor by completing a shift on Ward D, the psychiatric ward. She is dreading this rotation, as there are things in her past that she doesn’t want anyone to find out. Just when she thinks it couldn’t get any worse, she finds out she’s on shift with her ex-boyfriend. But then, patients start to go missing, and things start to happen that are beyond bizarre. What is going on Ward D?
The setting in this book made it! It was perfectly executed, making the twisted environment needed to create doubt for Amy and bring up her dark past. It was twisty turny and action packed. You never really know what to believe until the end, and the end packed a punch! This novel is a page turner and will have you second-guessing everything you thought happened. It was the perfect length and just complicated enough.

So excited to receive this ARC of award D. Freida McFadden is one of my go to authors and she just never disappoints. Creative, creepy and fluid writing just kept me hooked past my bedtime. I loved all of the characters so much. Tense and exciting. And so big on the creep factor! And awesome narrator.
Totally loved
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to and review this book.

Ward D by Freida McFadden was so intriguing to me; I was excited to be picked to listen to it early. However, Amy was too whiny and the perpetual victim, which I have no patience for, so I found it hard to relate to her. There was a lot of repetition (after the first couple times, I no longer cared that her boyfriend dumped her for a test), which added nothing to the story.
The second half of the book was much better, as the focus shifted from Amy's opinions and judgements to focus more about uncovering everything and the action. While I was certain early on who to trust and distrust, Freida did a good job of having me second guess myself, even if only for a little while. I enjoyed the unexpected twist at the end.
Leslie Howard was pleasant to listen to, once I sped up her voice. I was slightly irritated in her mispronunciation of schizophrenia to be schizophrEnia, as that word appears a lot.
Overall, I rate Ward D 3.5 stars, round up to 4.
Thank you to Dreamscape Media for providing me with an ALC.

Thanks you NetGalley for the early ARC. This book was incredible!! I also am a big fan of Freida McFadden and Leslie (narrator). This book had my heart racing the entire time. I loved that it wasn’t predictable and had great suspense the entire book.

First of all, thank you to NetGalley and Freida for my advanced reader copy of this book! I listened to the audiobook version. The narrator was great and fit perfectly for the story. She sounded familiar so I think she has narrated for Freida previously. I have read plenty of Freida’s other books (physical and audio) and the story has the same effect for me personally due to a good narrator. Next, I didn’t find this one quite as twisty as some of her other books. However, I still really enjoyed it. Amy is a medical student in Ward D, a psych unit that she never intended to visit. The journey to figure out why and what happens while she’s there keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is a great popcorn thriller. If you are someone who loves in depth books that you will think about forever, this is probably not it. It was a nice listen though for some easy entertainment and I would recommend to other lovers of thrillers.
