This was my first ever audiobook which i was extremely excited to start. It was well narrated and emphasised with lots of drama and emotion throughout. The storyline was absolutely riveting, haunting, chilling and very imaginative. It was creative switching from past to present, i never once lost the thread with so many layers being revealed. It had a fantastic atmosphere of spookiness for a psychological hospital drama (would make a great movie!!). Poor Amy, what a horrifying night shift she experienced in Ward D!! Loved all the twists and turns along the way complete with a knockout ending. I loved all the backgrounds to the characters, all so believable. I will certainly be recommending this book to others and will look for more books by this author. If i could have given 6 stars then i would have.
Huge thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for allowing me an advanced copy to read in exchange for my open and honest review. As always, my reviews will also be posted on Amazon, Goodreads and Waterstones and interaction on Facebook and instagram where possible.

Amy’s first shift on Ward D is met with some unexpected situations. She’s about to spend the next thirteen hours in a psychiatric ward.
…
Readers are transported to eight years in the past providing snippets of information leading up to Amy’s time in Ward D. Reader’s meet an array of characters ranging from employees and patients. There’s plenty of activity helping keep a steady pace.
…
Freida McFadden created a fantastic concept. It’s what lead me to request this audiobook in the first place. Not to mention the cover design screams listen to me. For the most part it’s a steady flow of curiosity. Although, I felt a shift in the mood when Freida transported readers back eight years into the past. It’s just my time felt pulled away from Ward D where I felt the most interest.
…
This is a character driven story and I’m feeling lost without my ebook companion. I listen better when I have eyes on words, it keeps me connected with the story. This is an atmospheric experience limited to an isolated area within a psychiatric ward.
…
Narrator:
Leslie Howard is the solo female performer of Ward D. Her voice is expressive, speaking with clarity and precision. Leslie enhanced my listening experience with her soothing voice. I listened using the Netgalley app.

Amy is a medical student dreading her evening rotation on Ward D, a locked psychiatric ward.
I almost didn't read this one because I am not generally a fan of locked room thrillers. This one didn't start out great for me either.
A psych ward without cell or internet service? Mistaking strawberry jelly for blood? A keener medical student breaking protocol? You know I was rolling my eyes!
The first half was a total slog. I didn't feel like the psych ward brought the creepiness that I was craving.
Having read several books by this author, I knew to expect the unexpected, Knowing that every character and every circumstance is intentional I had it all figured out...or so I thought.
I had a great theory but I was totally wrong. The ending was great with more than one unforeseen twist.
Ward D is a super quick read so even if you don't love the beginning, the ending makes it worth the read.

Another bingey book from Freida McFadden, and this was set in a mental ward of a hospital. Although I listened to it in one day, it was not my personal favorite by her. I enjoyed it, but I kept hoping for "more" from it, which I never really got. Still, it is entertaining and held my attention!

This book plot twist just keeps unraveling up until the very end and I absolutely loved the book so much ♡♡♡. Freida's book are always fast paced and packed with plot twist which I enjoyed 100% in this book. The book follows a medical student named Amy and is going to spend her time at Ward D which is a locked psychiatric ward. This book was thrilling, great writing plot, and kept me on edge the whole time. This time, I didn't even guess the plot twist because I kept wondering: who can I trust??? Who is going to be alive until the next morning?? This book is a real page turner and I can't wait for everyone to read this ♡♡♡.

Freida McFadden has done it again! This audiobook reeled me in immediately and was impossible to stop listening too. My favorite Freida book to date, although I might say that every time I read a new one.
Amy is a medical student that is doing a rotation in a psychiatric ward. She only has to be there overnight, but it’s not going to be an easy shift. Amy’s character is brilliant and the story shifts from present day to her teenage years. I loved the way this book was presented. As always, Freida is the Queen of twists. 5 stars! Run to Amazon to pre-order this fast-paced thriller that is being released on May 8th.
The narrator is fantastic. 10/10! I adore her work.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this ARC!

What a wild ride this was!!!
This was a fast paced where-is-this-all-going read! Freida McFadden has written another thrilling book. Plus, the narrator of the audiobook did a terrific job, and I did not want to stop listening.
Medical student Amy Brenner is going to be on a locked psychiatric ward overnight. She has reasons for not wanting to be there. She is hoping that no one ever finds out. But this is part of her medial training, and she must do the psychiatric rotation.
But as the night goes on, both patients and staff go missing. There is talk of danger by patients and as Amy tries to make sense of everything, the evening becomes a nightmare.
I enjoyed the tension that flowed throughout this book. This book grabbed my attention from the beginning and didn't let go. I just had to know what was going to happen on this overnight shift.
Another solid book by McFadden.

Ward D was a thrilling ride that hooked me from the start. I couldn't stop listening as the story unfolded with suspense and surprises. The story was well-crafted, although some parts seemed a bit unrealistic. I liked how the chapters alternated between the past and the present, revealing more about Amy and her secrets. The narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life.

I really enjoy all Freida books. I always try to think who did it, but this one there isn't really a who did it, so you're not even sure what you're looking for, but you know there is an unsavory person and I want to figure it out. I had one small detail guessed accurately, but nothing compared to the whole ending. The twists are real and constant. It had me wanting to keep going and going to see what the grand finale is. The narration was good, easy to listen to. I will continue to read/listen to Freida McFadden's books as fast as they come out. Thank you Net Galley and Dreamscape for the ARC on audio. I love audio books so much!

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced audiobook copy.
My first Freida McFadden book was the Housemaid and I really love it. I was looking forward to her newest book. This book kept you guessing. It made you question the narrator and what was really going on. The narrator for the audiobook was excellent.

Well the only thing you can say for a Freida novel is: twisty, bloody, psychotic and absolutely wonderful! This is one of her best yet, short and too the point, but not that short that you feel left wanting more. The characters are strong and the twisty plot amazing. Loved it!
Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to review this ARC. Keep them coming Freida!

📚 3/5 Frieda McFadden's gripping novel about Medical student Amy Brenner's night on a locked psychiatric ward is a page-turner from start to finish. The author expertly builds suspense as Amy finds herself working the dreaded overnight shift on Ward D, the inpatient mental health unit of the hospital.
Amy has always been wary of this particular rotation, and as the night progresses, her fears seem to be justified. Patients and staff begin to disappear, and it becomes increasingly clear that something is very wrong on Ward D. The tension mounts as Amy tries to piece together what is happening and keep herself and the remaining patients safe.
McFadden's writing is both engaging and suspenseful, keeping the reader on the edge of their seat throughout the book. The plot is well-crafted, with plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting. As Amy delves deeper into the mystery of what is happening on Ward D, the stakes become higher and the danger more palpable.
One of the strengths of the book is the author's ability to create a sense of claustrophobia and confinement. As Amy is trapped on the ward with no way out, the reader can feel the walls closing in on her.
Overall, Frieda McFadden's book delivers a fast-paced plot and plenty of suspense.
Narration 🎧📢 5/5 Superb narration!
One of the strengths of Leslie Howard's narration is her ability to convey the emotions and personalities of the characters she portrays. Her range of voices is impressive, and she brings a depth and authenticity to each character that draws the listener in and keeps them engaged.
Many thanks to Dreamscape Media, Hollywood Upstairs Press , and Freida McFadden for giving me this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased honest review.

I am a Freida McFadden fan, but I feel like this one missed the mark. It was on brand for her- thrilling and fast-paced, but I found this one to be too far of a stretch from reality compared to the few others of hers I’ve read. The main character was especially frustrating for me with too many insensitive descriptions of mental illness. I have personally worked with individuals like the ones she writes about and on overnight shifts and just found this to be too focused on shock factor and it was difficult to digest because of that. I think for someone less sensitive to this subject matter than myself this would be a great read, it just didn’t suit me personally.

Amy Brenner has always wanted to be a doctor. Now she is in medical school and required to do an overnight rotation in a locked psychiatric ward. She has been dreading this rotation. Now that she is here, it may be worse than she thought.
Her past and present collide as she continues on the countdown through the night and strange things keep happening and people disappear. Is the most dangerous patient in his room or not? Who is telling the truth? And who is lying? Nothing is as it seems. Will she make it out alive?
I gave Ward D ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! I really enjoyed it. It definitely kept me listening and guessing until the very end. It had so many twists and turns! So many of my friends have recommended Freida McFadden but this was actually my first book! I cannot wait to read the others! I liked this on audio too.
Thank you to @netgalley and dreamscapemedia for an advance audio copy!

Ward D is exactly what you would expect from Fredia McFadden. It is full of twists and turns and I loved the narrators of this book. They really added to my "reading experience." This book is told in past and present POV with our MC Amy doing an overnight rotation in Ward D. There is little to no cell service and Amy has reasons to not want be here. Soon patients start disappearing and this overnight shift becomes a race to survive the night.
This was a fast-paced thriller which I listened to in one sitting. I genuinely can't wait to read her next novel.
Thank you @fmcfaddenauthor @netgalley @dreamscape_media for an early audio copy.

A tense, relentlessly surprising, psychological thriller.
So this is my second Freida McFadden book. I was interested in reading this one just because of the concept of the locked ward with patients of varying psychiatric disorders. The first book I read from her I didn't love (Never Lie) as someone who reads a lot of thrillers I was able to predict in advance almost everything. Moving on to this one however, I was actually guessing a lot towards the end. I had suspicions, but the ending actually was a great twist that I think fellow thriller fans will love. I think this one was pretty fast paced, and McFadden did a nice job incorporating the past to the present and it actually connects very well to the present story and the events transpiring. I finished this in the span of two days, but if it were a weekend I would have finished it in one. I was really engaged in the story, and if you love lifetime thriller flicks I think you would love this edge of your seat story. My main complaint is the same narrator was used for this one (Howard) as the audiobook for Never Lie, and I just don't know if I care for the narration. I think the voice being the same for this one just made it hard to distinguish between Amy and Tricia.
You need to read this one!

Frieda McFadden is one of my favorite auto-buy thriller authors. Leslie Howard narrates several of McFadden's audiobooks, and she does a wonderful job every time. Ward D is spine-chilling with American Horror Story vibes. Before listening to this audiobook, check for trigger warnings.
A medical student named Amy is doing her rotations for class at a local hospital. The in-house psychiatric ward, Ward D, requires Amy to do a 13-hour overnight rotation. Though Amy is apprehensive about this assignment, she is determined to complete it. During her shift, Amy struggles to escape as people disappear, the doors are locked, and the workplace becomes a deadly survival game.
Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for sharing this mind-bending audiobook with me. I appreciate your kindness.

Thank you to Deamscape Media, Freida McFadden, & NetGalley for the ARC (audio).
I knew going in that this was going to be a page turner. A medical student, Amy, is doing her required overnight rotation in the locked psychiatric ward and that is the last place she wants to be. She is on edge the moment she steps off of the elevator. The story alternates between Amy's childhood and the present. The psych ward setting was so compelling. My thoughts were all over the place, not knowing who or what to believe. The description of the characters, the setting, everything, it was all so vivid without being overly descriptive. I felt like I was watching a movie. This book held my attention from start to finish. Its fast paced, entertaining, and keeps you guessing until the end. For someone who releases a new book as often as she does, it's quite impressive that she can continue to give us stories as compelling as the last. Nice work Freida. The narration was good, a little slow... eventually increased the speed of the audio to make it more enjoyable.

Finally! Our narrator Amy has confirmed the best clothing is a hooded sweatshirt and jeans. Exactly. Especially if it rains. I know, right? AND A Prayer for Owen Meany is her favorite book and mine. Amy and I could be bff’s. Well, except for the reason I can’t tell you without spoiling the story.
Amy is on her medical rotation at the hospital and it’s her turn to work in Ward D, the locked psychiatric ward. She’s nervous about her 13 hour shift, but not for the reasons people may think. She’s been there before. Something seems off to Amy and then patients start disappearing. You’ll need to completely suspend disbelief to enjoy this one, but it’s very entertaining.
Freida McFadden writes such fun and entertaining thrillers. I also enjoy her sense of humor. The narration by Leslie Howard on the audio is excellent as always. @lesliehowardnarrates

Ward D by Freida McFadden was crazy! This mystery suspense was full of doubts and scary people. I chose the audiobook and it was narrated by Leslie Howard. The narration was ok and the FMC was a little over the top for me but the story was good. It’s a past and present POV and I did enjoy it.
