Thank you to NetGalley and Tor for making this extended excerpt available to readers! It's about a third of the book, and it's made me so excited to read the rest in November.

It picks up almost immediately after the first book ends, and is centered around Winnie dealing with the consequences of her trials while trying to figure out if her dad's message was real. Will she solve the mystery of her dad's betrayal? Will she find the Whisperer and the werewolf? Will her and Jay finally makeout? Can't wait to find out.

I love this story so much! The way Winnie thinks. I know some people are put off by how much of a teen she is, but I find Winnie to be SUCH a realistic teen. I absolutely cannot wait for the full novel to be released. There is so much mystery going on. I just want to know more, I want to understand this world so badly.

We are back with Winnie, and you might think that she finally has everything sorted out after the trials. Nope. Well, passing the trials was not enough. Surprise! We have a deadly nightmare and a mystery to solve, while Winnie is trying to navigate through her newfound fame. Don’t forget about the werewolf!

I was curious about how Susan is going to portray trauma. (Because, honestly, the third trial was terrifying, and Winnie almost lost her life.) Winnie struggled and I felt that. There is something utterly wrong with this society and our heroine can see it. This is something that I missed during the first book and is very prominent even in the beginning of The Hunting Moon.

Some random things that I enjoyed:
- Winnie’s relationship with her mother.
- The map.
- The Assassin's Creed reference.

At this point I have more questions than answers and I can’t wait for November. My prediction is that I will enjoy this book a bit more than The Luminaries.
The first 100 pages have been provided by NetGalley and Thor Teen.
