This is Book 2 of a 3 book series, this series features three sisters (Ava, Clara and Gaby) and each book is the story of one of the sisters. So book 1 was Ava’s story, this book 2 is Clara story and then book 3 is Gaby’s story.
So focus for this book 2 was on Clara, who we met and got to know a little bit in book 1, but it was so nice to really get to know her and experience her journey in this story. It was a great story, entertaining from start to finish, it didn’t turn out at all like I was expecting it to, that’s a good thing by the way as it meant that this story wasn’t predictable.
There was lots going on, plenty of drama, emotions, sad moments and a couple of shocks along the way. I felt for Clara, as she didn’t have it easy to begin with but I am glad with how things turned out for her in the end.
It was also lovely to be reacquainted with all of the other characters from book 1 too, seeing how they all doing. Right time to head into book 3.
What a great book to read telling you the turmoil in Clara’s life in the Cornish village as you read the book you know what is going to happen but you can’t wait to see if Clara settles for the right man a must to read
Clara, distinct from her more outgoing sisters Ava and Gaby, feels stuck in a life where she believes she has compromised her dreams for Logan's career. Despite her engagement, Clara senses imperfections in their relationship, especially as Logan seems disconnected from Port Promise. Cormac, the charismatic Irishman, becomes a notable contrast to Logan. As Clara navigates her emotions, Logan's shortcomings become increasingly apparent, and when he inherits a house in London, the couple faces a dilemma. Clara must decide whether to compromise her identity for Logan's desires or remain true to herself. The latter part of the book explores Clara's emotional struggle, leading to a surprising turn of events. "Second Chances for the Lifeboat Sisters" delivers a heartwarming tale of love, choices, and second chances, making the Morrow sisters' stories captivating reads.
This is Clara’s story & it’s just as exciting as Ava’s in the first book! I love that we get to see the relationships between the sisters and their mom. And once again, this glorious setting in #PortPromise is explored! I’m ready for Gaby’s story in book 3!
Thank you, Tilly Tennant, Bookouture, & netgalley for my copy! All opinions are my own.
Second Chances for the Lifeboat Sisters by Tilly Tennant was just as good as the first book in the series. This book focuses on Clara, the middle sister. She is engaged to Logan an artist from London who when he has a bereavement in his family wants to move back to London. Will Clara stay with her family in Port Promise or move to London with Logan? A fab book.
Clara is planning her wedding in Port Promise. It is described so wonderfully, that you'd love to move in and meet everyone and have meal at the Fish Shack. The characters are so vivid that you quickly grow to know and love them. The sisters are getting over family tragedy in their own way,
Whilst this can be read as a standalone novel, it is definitely better to have read the first book so I’d urge you to do that if you haven’t. But another great book about the next Morrow sister and the role of the lifeboats in their village. It’s all tied in to how their father died and how they are recovering from that as well as continuing their family traditions. A great read
Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
The secret book of this series and this time it’s Clara’s story.
Clara and Logan are planning their wedding with her family at her side. She thought her life was perfect and she was going to get her happily ever after with Logan. That is until he inherits a house in London and he reveals that he wants them to move from Port Promise and her family to London.
She begins to realise that her and Logan have completely different dreams. Can Clara comprise and move to London with Logan or will she decide to stay in Port Promise and let her happily ever after go.
Ive not read one of Tillys book in a couple of years an i am glad i did. Its a great summer read for friends and romancers together... Were in the usual sea side villages of cornwall in Port promise wehre a tradgedy occurs when someone looses a local hero. His Daughter Ava is heartbroekn with the news and wants his legacy to live on in the village. She quits her usual jobs and enlists as lifeboat volunteer along with her best frined Harry who was at that fateful accident when her father died.
They spend alot of time together and soon Ava sees him differently but does she stand for her own beliefs or will she go along with what others want? I cried reading this book and although i am an emotional person, i had to hide my emotions at home.... so a brilliant read.
If you need a good summer book, dont delay and read it whilst on your holidays,,
A great book with lots of wonderful descriptions. I enjoyed this one very much. Loved the characters. Sometimes it made me laugh. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
Second Chances for the Lifeboat Sisters is the second in The Lifeboat Sisters trilogy by Tilly Tennant and was published simultaneously alongside the first book but I gave myself some time before diving into book two. For some reason I presumed book two would more or less tell the same story as the first book but from the point of view of the second Morrow sister Clara, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. God knows where I got that idea from and to be honest I was a little hesitant thinking did I want to more or less reread the same story just told by a different sister.
Thankfully this wasn’t the case at all and Tilly Tennant has done a brilliant job in moving forward the story of the Morrow sisters. Yes, this is written in such a way that it can be read as a standalone but I would urge you to read The Lifeboat Sisters beforehand as it was an excellent book with Ava at its centre and it really sets the scene for the series. Ava really found a place in my heart and I was enthralled by her story and I was worried I wouldn’t feel the same way about Clara. I felt I would be switching allegiances so to speak but as the book progressed I found myself lost in Clara’s story and all the changes and struggles that she was experiencing. Ava is still my favourite sister so far but I thoroughly enjoyed Clara’s story and am really loving the whole concept of the series.
Book one gave the reader little titbits as to what they could expect from Clara’s story and I felt a strong sense of foreboding that really all was not well in her world at a time when it very much should be. Clara is engaged to artist Logan and they share a little apartment above his gallery in Port Promise. Yes, they have been through the mill as a couple and Clara’s family too following the loss of their father at sea just over a year ago but things should be starting to turn a corner or so Clara thinks but as winter draws in around the Cornish village of Port Promise things are about to get a lot more turbulent for Clara. Can she weather the approaching storm? Will she listen to her heart or will she be forever treading on eggshells when it comes to her relationship with Logan?
Logan came to Port Promise three summers ago and fell in love with Clara and never left. The little fishing village is a special place which captures so many people’s hearts and the Morrow family have been central to all the goings on for countless years. The legend of their ancestor Izaiah Morrow lives on and they continue the work he started. Since that time a member of the Morrow family has always been involved the lifeboat service although Clara has a passion for food and cooking. Her long held dream is to have a restaurant of her own but facilities are thin on the ground in the village and she doesn’t have the finances either. Currently she works at the local campsite but now that her hours are reduced over the winter she has plenty of time on her hands and she should be making headway with plans for her wedding.
Clara is very different to her sisters Ava and Gaby. She is quiet, reserved and cautious and she feels stuck in a rut that she hasn’t really achieved anything with her life. She believes that she has made many compromises with Logan for the sake of his career and that there is no way she can see her dream coming true. Running her own restaurant seems further from her reach now more than ever. She spends time with her best friend Betty who runs the local café but Betty is lonely and on a mission to find a man and Clara wants to help her out. I could see where this aspect of the story and I feel awful saying it because I didn’t want it to happen as I could envisage a much bigger piece of the puzzle that I would have loved to have fallen into place.
I loved how lots of the characters introduced in the previous book reappear and one character I was definitely on the lookout for was handsome Irish man Cormac who runs the fish shack having taken it over from his uncle. He is the complete antithesis to Logan and I just wanted to read more and more about him. An all round good guy who can’t do enough for the community and he shows this in a very important way much later on in the book. Perhaps in more ways than one.
I could sense fairly early on that Clara, although she loved Logan deeply, had a niggle at the back of her mind that everything wasn’t perfect. That she was having to be someone that she wasn’t and through reading their conversations and interactions that she was pandering to him and giving in on things when he put pressure on her.It was as if she had to be wary of what she said or did in fear of upsetting him and it soon became apparent that he didn’t feel the same way about Port Promise as she did. Even from the little insights of Logan in the first book I knew I didn’t like him one bit and that feeling only intensified the further this story developed. Don’t get me wrong there are moments of tenderness and love between the pair, after all they are engaged and they do love each other, but is what they have enough?
Logan got on my nerves big time and this increased with every turn of the page. He makes no effort to become part of the Port promise community and rarely attends family events. There was an air of superiority about him that he was better than the village and its residents and far too cool for all the goings on there. He always seemed to have a bee in his bonnet that Gaby and her husband Killian and Clara’s mother Jill have a problem with him. Perhaps they do but they would never show that to Clara.
Really, I think Logan had a load of insecurities and was never happy in the first place in the village. He, never really understood Port Promise and what it stands for nor wanted to. Yes, it’s hard for an outsider to settle in but with time it’s achievable. Just look at Cormac and how well he was doing with the fish shack. I hated the way that Logan was just so disrespectful to Clara and her family and wondered what had she ever seen in him in the first place? When Logan’s grandmother passes away and he inherits her house in London he was like the cat that got the cream. But for Clara there are tough decisions ahead as Logan wants to move back to London. How can she leave her family and her beloved Port Promise? Yes, there should be a compromise in a relationship but that involves two people working together and it didn’t look like that was the case in this situation.
I really enjoyed the later half of the book as there was lots going on and Clara really wrestles with her emotions. Her head and heart lie in different places. What is the correct decision to make and when something surprising occurs her choice has more meaning than ever. I empathised completely with Clara throughout the book. Yet I knew what I wanted her to do. It seemed pretty obvious to me but there were plenty of challenges and obstacles placed in her way and most importantly does she love Logan enough to become someone else for him in order to give him what he wants or should she remain true to herself?
Second Chances for the Lifeboat Sisters has established the Morrow sisters as some of my favourite reads so far this year. It’s a heart-warming story of love, choices and second chances. The characters and setting are fabulous so much so that you’ll want to read it in one sitting if at all possible. Now my attentions turn to Gaby and her story will be revealed in A Secret for the Lifeboat Sisters which will be published in October. If it’s anything as good as the first two books, I know I am in for a real treat.
It’s the first one of this series that i have read and won’t be the last. Lovely heartwarming story of life in a seaside village and a great insight into the lifeboat service.
I have loved revisiting Port Promise and the Lifeboat Sisters.
I loved coming back to Clara and her family. They had been through a lot as a family in the first book so I'm already routing for them, especially Clara.
I can't begin to explain how much I enjoyed this book. Clara does the right thing I think. It is a very exciting story line with a few what ifs thrown in for good measure.
This is a heartwarming book with some difficult situations that some characters have to deal with. I was biting my nails a couple of times hoping that things would go a certain way.
I am now waiting for book 3 and I'm so excited to find out the next installment.
Second Chances for the Lifeboat Sisters is the second in the series and just as enjoyable as the first book.
Already the girls are beginning to feel more like friends than characters in a book and I'm enjoying the chance to revisit postcard perfect Port Promise again.
In this book we're told the story of Clara and her fiancé Logan. Will she get her happy ever after and the Wedding she dreams of, or is she going to choose her family over her fiancé?
A story of second chances, love and lifeboats - who knew they'd work so well together.
I'm loving this new series and I'm already wanting to tuck into book three.
As always another win, win from Tennant.
This book is the second book in the Lighthouse Sisters series. It can be read as a standalone novel but I definitely recommend reading the first book before reading this one.
This book focuses on Clara and the lead up to her wedding. She has to make a big decision that could change the rest of her life.
This is a very emotional but enjoyable read. I couldn't put it down. It is an excellent read and I am looking forward to reading the next part of the series.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.
I read the first two books in the new Lifeboat Sisters series, back-to-back, and thoroughly enjoyed them both. This one, Second Chances for the Lifeboat Sisters, is primarily about Clara, the middle sister of three, and how she is dealing with loads of uncertainty in her life. Will she get married? Will she stay in Port Promise? You’ll have to read the book to find out.
I didn’t find Clara quite as endearing as Ava, and at times I wanted to tell her to ‘grow a pair’ and stand up for herself! Logan, her fiance, is just a pain in the ass in my opinion. If you want to fit in, then make an effort, you clown! The Lifeboat Sisters series is very family orientated and shows what life can be like in a cliquey village - difficult if you’re not willing to make an effort as an outsider, to be included.
It would make much more sense to read these books in order, otherwise everything will be out of sequence, however I think you’d enjoy the stories, however you read them.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read Second Chances for the Lifeboat Sisters by Tilly Tennant.
This is the second book of the series and this time, the focus is on Ava's sister, Clara.
Clara is planning a wedding after a whirlwind romance to Logan with her sisters and her mother at her side. But her fiance, Logan inherits a house in London and wanted to start their new chapter there. However, even though Clara wanted to move to London, the thought of moving away from her family overwhelmed her. Now it seems that both Clara and Logan each have different dreams so can they have a happily ever after?
You first get to know Clara in the first book, but you don't have to read the first book in order for you to read this book. Once again, I was transported back to the dainty Cornish village, the small town of Port Promise. The vivid descriptions of the place made me feel as if I was also living in this scenic Cornish village. This time the focus is more on towards Clara and personally, I like Clara more than I did towards Ava. She has to make a decision if she wanted to leave Port Promise or not but I wouldn't blame her if she didn't want to leave! I do like the sibling relationship and her relationship with her own mother.
So overall, I rate this book as five stars!
Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.
Thank you Bookouture for making me a part of this blog tour!
This is the second book in the Lifeboat Sisters series. The first book focussed on Ava, one of the three Morrow sisters. This book tells the story of Clara Morrow. Clara lives in the pretty Cornish village of Port Promise, and from the first book we learnt that the family suffered a tragedy when their father Jack died whilst on his lifeboat. In this instalment, Clara is planning her wedding to Logan, but do they really both want the same things?
This is a lovely series which I'm really enjoying. I loved the Morrow family and cried for them so much in the last book, feeling the grief they were going through. This book has a lovely theme with Clara's wedding and you could see brighter times coming for the family. Of course, nothing ever goes smoothly and we follow Clara's story through the ups and downs leading to the wedding. Clara is such a likeable character, and I really enjoyed her story. She is so different to her sister, Ava and I can't wait to read the final sister, Gaby's storyline in the next book.
I love the location of these books and could just imagine myself wandering through the little seaside village. This book is a heart warming read with lots of family drama, but also with plenty of light-hearted and feel good moments. The author has done a fabulous job of writing a story where you really become invested in the characters and by the end of the book you feel like you've known them all your life. Such a wonderful read, I could stay in Port Promise forever! Would recommend!
This book is about Clara Morrow, another “Lifeboat Sister”, we got to hear quite a lot about her in the previous book with a little bit of foreshadowing for this book I thought.
You can definitely read this as a stand-alone if you’ve not read the first book because the author explains who everyone is and goes over a lot of events that happened in the first book too.
I adored Clara , her vibe seemed so much more chilled than Ava’s was and I think that’s what you always get with sisters, so alike but so different too.
We got to hear all about the lovely Port Promise and how things are going for everyone a few months after the first book.
With this story I can’t give too much away but it’s real love story in the truest sense of the word and I’m chopping at the bit to read the next in the series.
Clara Morrow is so excited to be planning her wedding to her fiancé Logan in the beautiful picturesque Cornish village of Port Promise. The best day of her life can’t come soon enough. It was love at first sight for Clara and Logan. Logan is a local artist and enjoys painting pictures of the beautiful Cornish beaches. When Logan inherits a house in London and Clara isn’t at all happy about the thought of moving to London after the wedding. It is an amazing new start for them but the thought of leaving Port Promise, her family and her friends breaks her heart. Is London really the life she wants with her new husband or is passing up an amazing opportunity and staying with her family what she and Logan both want.
Second Chances for the Lifeboat Sisters written by Tilly Tennant was a sweet continuation of the series. Once again I was swept away the Cornish coast and I didn’t want to leave. I am amazed how the author rapidly transports you to the sandy beaches and crystal clear waters of the coast. Port Promise is a wonderful little village that I could easily live out my days. The lifestyle is so enjoyable and laid back with not a care in the world. This story of second chances and new beginnings is a treasure box to be devoured. I am so happy that this is only the second book in this lovely series. Don’t pass up this must read. I loved it.
