Can I just say how CLEVER the title and book cover is? It immediately drew me in and as soon as I read that first chapter, I was hooked! I appreciated the character development and the second guessing of yourself as you were reading. What a fantastic thriller! Please ensure this makes it to your TBR pile!

Really good read! Any fan of Freida McFadden will enjoy this book. I didn't see the story progess as it did and I'm really excited to see what Jenkins has next.

5/5 stars.

I received an advanced reader copy from NetGalley and this review is solely my own viewpoint.

Very good debut book! Very twist and kept you guessing. It took a little long to get the story going but it was well written

Overall not a badly written title. I did expect a bit more just from the blurb but I am not disappointed. The twists and turns were out of left field and not once did I figure them out. I do wish that the chapters had specified which character was talking because it did get a bit muddy with so many chapters and so many characters. At times I wasn't sure what was going on because there was so much going on in the storyline. I was a bit disappointed in the storyline with the nanny and do wish there was more to it than just the ending to be honest. I did feel as though that it was a bit too long and even though the chapters were at times quite short, the book could have been cut down and still be able to get the plot across.

Brilliant!!! Just Brilliant! From the start to the end, it gave so much twists and I never guest correctly.. This is so wonderfully written that I end up wanting more of this.

Thank you for mentioning some of the Filipino dishes that not all are familiar of but when tasted it will surely cement in the memory.

Thank you Mr. Mark Jenkins for this wonderfully written and really unputdownable novel. Looking forward to more crafted stories from you.

With One Stone.
By Mark Jenkins

4 Stars

Gripping murder mystery with twist galore.

The book is broken up into two parts. Firstly setting the scene and initial murders, with the climax revealing the murderer. The second part continues the story with the how and why’s of the murders, building to the dramatic climax, and a surprise ending.

Jenkins does well with the interconnecting relationships building tension and questioning relationships.

The plot flows smoothly without, crafting a well written story.

I honestly enjoyed this book quite a bit. There was a lot of storylines within the main storyline but overall I did enjoy it. This book is about a famous author who is in a bit of a writing slump and her family dynamic. She has put her career on the backburner to raise her family but this ends up hurting her family in other ways instead. She finally gives in to getting a nanny so she can start writing again around the same time other authors who she competes with for the #1 slot start to have mysterious accidents. I feel like some of the outside storylines do blur the lines a bit such as her husband loves her so much but still carries on an affair. Clearly the lines are blurred a bit. There is a few twists throughout that keep you guessing.

Thank you for allowing me to review your first debut novel. I absolutely love a book that I cannot figure out this one had my full attention down to the last sentence.

I finished this novel with the same roller-coaster emotions that I did when I finished Verity (just without the teeth marks!)

After finishing the book I appreciated the slow set up during the first third of the book because by last third of the book I needed that clear thought process to keep things straight even though I started taking notes at the beginning, which I was glad I did. Lots of characters!
I appreciated the way that all the loose ends was tied up at the end, I really thought it was going to be a first in a series but was glad that everything came together.

This Novel has given me a bit of a Book Hangover which doesn't happen very often.

Keep up the excellent work and I look forward to your sophomore Novel!

Thank you NetGalley and Mark Jenkins for the eARC!

Released Saturday, May 20, on his late father's birthday, WITH ONE STONE was a thrilling debut!

Nina Travers was once a best-selling author of psychological thrillers until a case of writer's block knocked her out of the spotlight. The publishing world is a cutthroat business, and authors were lined up waiting to take her place in the limelight. Her friends and family want her back in her rightful place, but the words just won't come. Then a series of accidental deaths all have one thing in common--the victims are all linked to Nina. Is she getting rid of her competition one at a time, or is someone desperate to see her back on top doing it for her?

The twists and turns in this book were perfectly executed, and when the true motive was revealed, I was shocked! Never in a million years did I see that coming! Kudos for such a strong debut, and I can't wait to see what's next for this author!

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for this stunning debut. WITH ONE STONE is available on KU and in paperback.

This book was my first encounter with author Mark. Jenkins.
The book came recommended to me by another favorite author of mine, Freida McFadden (pen name)
This book lived up to her hype. I really found myself turning the pages as quickly as possible to see what would happen. I would recommend this book!

Author Freida McFadden recommended this book in her Facebook fan group and I am so glad she did.
Nina, is a thriller writer who is suffering from writer's block and is being pressured by her agent to deliver pages. Margo, her talent agent, had previously given up all her clients except for Nina and Nina's mother who is also an author. Margo is considering approaching her former clients to come back to her, but they didn't part on the best of terms and also, that is going to be a challenge as they suddenly start dying off from alleged accidents.

There are multiple twists and surprises in this book. I had thought I knew exactly how it was going to end and I was so wrong. There is a nice mix of likable and unlikable characters. I also felt there was a good amount of characters to make it interesting, but not so many that it was difficult to follow. I would definitely think the author has an opportunity to follow up with other books focusing on one or more of the characters.

“They say your first kill is the hardest. They were wrong.”

Right from the start, my heart began racing and I settled in for the ride. Nina Travers, a best selling author of, my favorite genre, psychological thrillers, is doing her best to stay at the top. But what will it take? As the body count rises, you realize there’s no length to how far someone will go.

It’s a fast paced read with so many twists, I almost got whiplash! Just when I thought I had it figured out… turn the page… The characters are well written and kept me intrigued throughout. While I have a few questions still, this debut novel did not disappoint! I can’t wait to see what comes next.
Thank you to Mark Jenkins and NetGalley for the ARC.

I hope their is a sequel in the mix because I NEED TO KNOW MORE. lots of twisty turns and guessing games

What an incredible first novel! There were moments that I laughed, cried, and a few where my jaw literally dropped and my eyes bugged out. And that ending...I wish I could say that I saw it coming, but I did not! Thank you NetGalley and Mark Jenkins for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

I originally found this author in a Freida McFadden fan group on Facebook. If you like her books, you will like this one!

The author's debut novel, and it did not disappoint! There were a lot of moving parts to this book. A LOT of characters that each had their own storylines in themselves, which was confusing for me to keep track of. I feel like any one character could have had their own novel honestly. However, they all collided into one big beautiful thriller mess that I could have never predicted. I actually did not predict a single thing that happened in this book, which is rare for me!

I thought the characters were likable and relatable. I enjoyed their relationships with each other. There was a lot of drama throughout which "muddied the waters" and was entertaining! Several twists throughout the book. One in particular had me gasping out loud! The ending didn't answer all the questions I had, but I think that was good. I like being left with wanting more.

Fast paced, entertaining, drama-filled read! You will not be disappointed.

SPOILERS AHEAD ----------------------------
I did kind of find it odd that Addy kept a diary of everything that was going on...I felt like she was very meticulous with everything she did so the diary piece didn't really fit. I also felt like the entries at the end about how she did what she did were kind of long / drawn out. I liked to hear about things from her perspective, but less details would have been better. She is a teen girl, I doubt she would write paragraphs like that in a diary.

With one stone.

If high multiple story lines, intense list of characters, and suspense is your kind of book I recommend this one!

Overall objectively: I thought this book had a decent amount of twists for new suspense/mystery readers. I felt it had an overall well planned story line. And the characters seemed deep and well planned out! This book hits stores may 20th!

Now for my personal subjective review:
This one wasn’t really my cup of tea. There were too many characters in my opinion to keep up with. And it just felt like more and more were added the longer the book went.
It did seem slightly predictable I was second guessing myself slightly but ultimately in the end had quested correctly. He at least gives you enough clues to figure it out if you are try. However I do like the clue but I’d also like to not be able to guess it. Give me a plot twist that still makes sense with the clues give! But I guess this book is being marketed more as suspense not full mystery.

SLIGHT spoiler. But not really
there needs to be trigger warnings with this the amount of rape and sex talked about in this book was just, overwhelming for what was supposed to be suspense. It wasn’t even tasteful. Someone having sex was supposed to be quite a few of the big shock factors in the book but its 2023. This is definitely going to be harsh but if that’s the most shocking twist you can think of Im a little disappointed. You should spend an hour on any social media and you’d be flat out flabbergasted if sex is what makes you shocked. I personally don’t enjoy it being over used and think there’s much better ways to have shock factor in books but again this is a personal preference.

This book gets a 3 out of 5 because objectively it’s pretty well written especially for someone’s first book but just not as great as I’d like to see subjectively to get a full 5 stars.
