I saw this book shared by Freida McFadden in her fan group so I immediately requested it on Netgalley… and I’m so glad I did! This was one heck of a debut novel! I didn’t even read what it was about before starting it because I knew if Freida said it was good, then it was GOOD. I read it all in one day and it kept me hooked from the beginning, and I never guessed who the killer was! Definitely did not see that coming at all. You will not regret reading this one, and I will read anything this author publishes in the future!
I reallllly liked this. It seemed almost overwhelming while I was reading but in the end all the twists came together and I was like WHAAAT. It all made sense in the end and I really like that. Definitely would read another book by him!
This book is one hell of a page turner! The writing style and suspense makes this an impossible book to put down. There are so so so many plot twists in this one and although some are questionable, it was overall a truly enjoyable read for me!
Hooks you in right from the beginning with a creepy halloween scene! Easy to read, not verbose, and generally fast paced. Some parts are slow in the first half but it picks up pace in the second half. Lots of twists! Recommended by my fav author Freida McFadden, and it does not disappoint. Thank you to Mark Jenkins and Netgalley for the ARC! Definitely an author to look out for in future!
Thank you Mark Jenkins, NetGalley for allowing me this chance to read the ARC of “ With One Stone.”
All I can say is WoW as I sit here trying to process what I just read! This was such a phenomenal read and once I started I couldn’t put it down. This book had so many twists, turns, and soooo many lies I had no idea what was going to happen.
This is a psychological thriller about an author Nina Travers who was once on the tops of the charts along with her mom Willa. With her agent riding her for a new release and she feels out of the game. Will she make it back to the top? What will it take ? Murder?
This was a really fast paced read and the characters were well written and memorable. It feels like you know all of them. I’m surprised this is the authors first book and will be waiting for Marks next novel. Hopefully sooner than later !
Due to be published May 20th , 2023 everyone must read this !!!!!!
I loved it. The characters were all interesting and well-developed. I loved the short chapters from different characters' POVs. My suspicions of who the killer was changed from time to time but the plot kept me guessing. I would highly recommend this novel to any thriller lover. I'm looking forward to reading more from Mark Jenkins.
Talk about twists and turns!!! I was a little confused in the beginning because there’s a few different storylines to follow, but they all come together nicely at the end. This was a great first book and can’t wait to read more from this author.
I love this one!! A psychological thriller about an author of psychological thrillers basically living what could be the plot of her next novel! Soo many twists and turns you just didn’t see coming!!
Wow, I'm not sure what to say! The book was really good and I enjoyed reading it. I felt it compared with other authors' books such as Freida McFadden. I really enjoyed this one and thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this ARC (Advanced Reader's Copy).
The book had many sub plots happening throughout and it never got boring. It is a psychological thriller and it is this author's debut novel. It is really surprising that as a debut novel that it was this good, because yes it really was good. I feel like there could be a Book 2 to this to continue where this one left off.
I highly recommend this book, it is well worth the read. Congratulations to Mark Jenkins for a job well done. Let me know if Book 2 is in the works. 5 Stars!
Wow! I don’t know what to say about this one. There is no way this is a debut book for this author. This book sucked me right in and kept me up reading late last night. I loved the characters and the twist just kept coming. Thank you Netgalley and Mark Jenkins for an advanced copy of this book.
One of my favorite authors suggested this book. She mentioned it would keep you intrigued from the get go and oh goodness was she correct! Twist after twist and so many surprises Mark Jenkins dies not disappoint! This one definitely landed in my top favorite authors with his very first book!
Nina Travers is a bestselling author of psychological thrillers. She lives a privileged life in Connecticut with her husband Jack and their two children, Addy and Noah. She is struggling to write her next book and decides to hire a nanny. Other characters include her mother, Willa, and best friends Kelly & Owen.
There is a lot going on in this book with multiple storylines and timelines. I though the author weaves them together well, but it does take a while for the story to get good. There are multiple twists and turns.
Overall, a solid debut, but I thought there were too many unanswered questions, particularly with Addy and between Kelly and Nina. I'll leave it at that so there are no spoilers.
I loved this book! There were so many twists. I just couldn’t put this book down. I never knew what was going to happen every time I turned the page. I enjoyed Marks writing and I’m hoping he writes some more books! Thank you NetGalley and Mark for the ARC!
This was such a great book that I HIGHLY recommend. It is hard to believe this is a debut novel.
I really appreciate when a book offers multiple POV. It definitely added to this story tremendously.
This book has all the stops and will keep you turning the pages. It is very well written and easy to read. I will say EVERY guess I had was 100% wrong.
Nina was an amazing character. We follow her through the ups and downs of trying to finish her next novel. She has high pressure to be successful. Inspiration comes with quite a few surprises. Are her friends on her side?
This book will shock you page after page. Buckle up because this book is full of surprises.
Do not miss this one!
Nina was once a best selling author and is currently struggling with finishing her newest book. Her marriage may be falling apart and she’s busy being a stay at home mom to get two kids. But soon people around here start dying one by one and Nina wonders if she’ll be next…
This is the author’s first book and I can’t imagine how hard it is to write a book.. I know I couldn’t do it so I want to be as kind as possible while also being honest.
The start of the book caught my interest pretty quick but then it got very slow and dragged on… it wasn’t until 54% into the book that the first person finally died. Personally, I just do not like books that take that long for something to happen. I get bored way too easily.
With that being said… I did really like the ending and the last 20% of the book. It was not your typical ending and it really did piece everything together. Realistically I’d probably give this book a 3.5 if I could.
Thank you to Netgalley and Mark Jenkins for this free eARC!
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read another ARC. This one did not disappoint! I won’t say much since it is due out in less than 2 weeks. It had my jaw dropping numerous times. Well written, plenty of thrills, twists, family drama, and 🤯 moments. I believe this book is the first written by this author. I already cannot wait for him to write his second novel!
⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Time to choose my next book!
Happy reading y’all! 📚❤️📚
Psychological thriller author Nina has the perfect family and life, however, her writing has stalled and she’s fallen from the top. Suddenly, several other authors who have risen to the top while Nina’s been down, have fatal accidents. But is it a coincidence?
This book had SOOO many things going on, and so many twists and turns…but I never had trouble following along. I guessed a few little things along the way, however, never would’ve guessed they way it all turned out in the end!! Very fast paced read. Keeps you interested the whole time! Had to stop and say WHAT?! several times. Thank you NetGalley and the author for allowing me to read this ARC! I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to see what is in store next!!!
Don't let the police tape on the cover fool you - this is not a police procedural novel (whew, cause that's not my thing). This is a psychological thriller, and the author's debut novel. I find it hard to believe that it's the author's debut novel because it's SO good, and SO well written, it feels like he's been writing for so long it just comes naturally to him now.
Anyway, this book!! I did not predict a single thing, and that's rare for me. There was a lot going on, but it wasn't confusing AT ALL, and my mind kept trying to piece everything together, but to no avail. And as most book-lovers do, I love books about books/authors/the writing & publishing process.
The only reason this isn't a 5-star, is because I had a few unanswered questions left by the end of the book (or maybe I missed something, who knows.). For instance, where was Addy during the first 2 years of her life, and how did she get there? Where was Addy born? How did Owen find her and bring her to her family? Why did Robin even leave London, why not just move to another town? Moving to a whole other continent on the other side of the world doesn't seem possible for her, at that age. Also, my kids stopped calling me "Mommy" when they were about 6ish years old maybe? Addy seems too old to be calling her parents "mommy" and "daddy".

**Vague minor spoilers ahead, maybe?**
Also there were a few errors. Such as, babies aren't born with brown eyes. (All babies are born with blue eyes.) My daughter has gorgeous brown eyes, and when she was born they were a very very very dark blue, and then slowly changed, but I definitely didn't see brown eyes when she was born! Also on the baby topic, lots of babies are born with black hair which falls out, and then re-grows a different colour. My daughter's best friend is very blonde, but had black hair when she was born. So that wouldn't really point to any kind of paternity. And "lupus" doesn't need to be capitalized, though I did enjoy that brief reference, because lupus is awful.
**Definite spoilers ahead**
Also, for a character as smart as Addy, I don't think she'd keep a diary confessing everything. But I see how it was a way for the reader to find out what was going on in Addy's mind.
The story is about Nina, a best selling author and her family. Its a slow burn, the story really doesn't take off until half way through. It starts out setting up the characters, who they are , where they play in the family . Then as the story progresses, there are things that happen, that keeps you wondering, keeps you intrigued enough to keep reading. And when you think you have it figure out , nope you never saw that coming. Very good debut book, would definitely read more from this author.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I saw this book recommended by Freida McFadden in her fan group on Facebook. I figured if one of my favorite authors thought this was a good book, that was enough for me to give it a try. I am glad that I did!
Nina is a psychological thriller author that is struggling to get her next book written. Her agent, Margo, dropped all of her other clients to only focus on Nina and Nina's mother, Wills (also an author). Margo is stressed out because she put all her eggs in one basket and she currently isn't receiving any progress from Nina on her new book. One by one, Margo's ex clients begin dropping dead by what seems to be accidental circumstances, but are things really what they seem?
I loved all the background drama as well as all the twists! I did not see most of them coming and I am usually pretty good at guessing. I also liked how the ending kind of left you wondering what was going to happen next. Overall, a good read and I would absolutely recommend this book to all those that love a thriller.
