I absolutely loved The Woman in Carriage 3 by Alison James, and the audiobook narration brought the story to life in a way that made it even more gripping. The mystery and suspense hooked me from the start, and the pacing was perfect, keeping me on edge throughout.

The story is full of twists and turns, with a plot that keeps you guessing at every turn. Alison James creates a tense, atmospheric ride, and the narrator did an amazing job of capturing the characters’ emotions and adding depth to the suspense.

What stood out to me was how immersive the experience was. The plot unfolds with just the right amount of tension, and the narrator’s voice pulls you into the heart of the mystery. It made the story even more engaging, and I found myself completely absorbed.

If you love psychological thrillers with unpredictable twists and an excellent audiobook experience, The Woman in Carriage 3 is a must-listen. The combination of a well-written story and top-notch narration made this a standout for me.

This book gets right into the action from page 1. We meet Hattie whose life is unravelling, back at her parents, drinking too much and in temp jobs that she hates. She gets to meet a group of commuters who all get on Carriage 3 on the same train everyday but are they all who they seem?

This book is very fast paced and you get to know all the characters really well, Hattie is a very flawed character but you understand how she gets where she is and all the bad decisions that she makes.

My only little criticism of this book is that I saw the little twists coming quite a way off which I don’t normally do so they were quite obvious, however it didn’t dampen my enjoyment of the book too much.

I will definitely be looking for other books by this author.

I enjoyed reading the book but I just couldn't see anything that makes it outstanding from the other thrillers that I have read.

Thoroughly enjoyable crime thriller, which took many unexpected turns. I really enjoyed the venture into the art world and got completely wrapped up in the deception and tension. I loved the multiple twists and found myself hurtling through this audiobook at the speed of a bullet train - I couldn’t stop listening! The narration was pitch perfect and life was breathed into every character. Voices were unique and easy to tell apart. Recommend this one for a fun, pacy listen with a solid mystery at its core.

Hattie really needs to get her shit together! I knew things were too good to be true! Just imagine your life changing so profoundly just by a chance meeting with a group of strangers on a stopped train! This was a twisty read and I loved it!

I chose this book based on the synopsis and because ive read a book by the author which I loved....I thought it's going to be as good but i was a bit disappointed.

Hattie travels on the train home each night, She sits in the same seat, in the same carriage, and usually the same group rides with her.

On their daily commute Hattie, Julian, Neil & Louis develop a friendship
One night a commuter suddenly drops dead. And the terrible accident changes everything.

Told in multiple perspectives, this is a slow burn most part of the book. Nothing much happens for the first half of the book. But it got a bit interesting in Part Two but it was already bored to really get into it.

I didn't really care about the characters.
I really disliked Hattie right from the beginning because Im not a fan of weak MC.
She took immaturity & St*pidity to another level.

I couldn't believe she was that old, almost 30? Whaaat?
She was so childish & gullible.
She made horrible decisions and was easily persuaded by a man she barely knew without questioning anything.
She drunk way too much.

That was it for me.
I couldn't get over her to enjoy the book when things even got a bit interesting.

You might like this if you don't really care if a MC is that ......

Hattie is back living with her parents after splitting with her boyfriend. She travels in carriage 3 of the 18:53 train every evening and remains fairly anonymous until there is a death in the carriage. The group of passengers in that carriage form a supportive bond and begin to socialise together. Shortly after this there is a further death, another one of the group, and she quickly realises that the guilty party is one of the carriage 3 passengers. The pace was rather inconsistent but there are lots of twists and turns and I enjoyed this thriller regardless. Thank you to Net Galley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

While listening to this, my phone stopped working. Once I received my new phone and downloaded the Netgalley app I lost all my downloaded audiobooks. I was unable to finish.

One day, the strangers started a conversation on their evening commute home. After the bonding, they exchanged their contacts and began to interact daily. But Hattie's attention from the very first night was on a handsome Casper. As her work life collapses rapidly, Hattie's love life begins to blossom, and she begins to feel that her happily ever after is just a plane ride away. However, the shocking tragedy hits the group on the 18:53 train, and Hattie's life changes again.

It is an excellent psychological thriller, filled with many twists and turns. Although I am not a fan of a large character list, the author involved and played each personage so that they all felt a large part of this amazing plot. Although the beginning is slow, the novel's pace picks up quickly, and the finale is spectacular. 'The Woman in Carrige 3" is an excellent read for any thriller lover.

I really liked the narrator in this book but as much as I tried I couldn't finish this book, it was slow and boring and I just couldn't get into no matter how much I tried.

While I really liked the narrator, I could not finish this book. It was slow, boring and nothing more than drinking and hangovers. Maybe it got better but I had to DNF.

Life is anything but a blast for Hattie. A little unhinged, she's back home, living with her parents after splitting up from her boyfriend and losing her job. She drinks way too much and and meets inappropriate guys on dating apps. Hattie takes the 18.53 train each day and speaks to no one. That is, until the death of a passenger gets her speaking to some fellow commuters. Before you know it, they have set up a Whats App group and Hattie takes a shine to the charming Casper Merrieweather. It seems the feeling is mutual. However, when one of the group die, it becomes apparent that some of the commuters Hattie has developed a friendship with are not all they seem to be.

I enjoyed this audiobook and thought the narration was brilliant. At first, I thought it was going to be a psychological thriller that was going to keep me on the edge of my seat but it seemed to turn into a cosy murder mystery half way through. Although still enjoyable, it was not what I was expecting from the book. Hattie was a great protagonist but oh my, how naive she was. It was this naivety that annoyed and frustrated me because surely no one would do what Hattie did for love! It was plain to see that she was being taken for a ride but why could she not see it? I thought the book was a little predictable and I felt that I knew what was coming, throughout.

Having said that, The Woman in Carriage 3 is certainly readable and indeed enjoyable, but for me, it needed a bit more grit, a few more eye opening moments and a few more twists and turns.

This one was not for me, I stuck it out longer because it was on audio but I think I’m just more frustrated with the gaslighting women with mental health issues plot …. Why why why.

I wish it were getting more hype on booksta because it’s the perfect mystery/thriller that I know a lot of my followers would enjoy. I love thrillers that really make me think and try and solve the mystery. This one was not too dark and twisty which I know some people can’t do with their reads! If you are a fan of Lisa Jewell you should really give this one a try!

I enjoyed this audio book but kids find it dragged out a bit with not too much going on. Could have been better.

This book was a pleasant surprise, I didn’t know what I was in for when I started, but it surpassed expectations.! It is one of those books that is good from beginning to end!

I have been burned with many books lately that start off good but crumble in the middle or tank in the end. This book has restored my faith that it is possible to arrive at a perfect ending. This book has set the bar because now I know you can have a good story and ending as well!

I only have only one hiccup and that is with one character. but it may have just been me. Early on in the book I thought the online date, hookup and tongue 👅 out emoji guy was named Antonio but in chapter 15 he was listed as Ethan. This just may have been my confusion, but if you are reading this, please clarify for me if Ethan and Antonio are separate people. And if so, who exactly is Ethan?

The narrator did an amazing job bringing these characters to life and the author did a phenomenal job creating these characters and writing an amazing story. The execution of this story was brilliant!!!!

Jan Cramer did a wonderful job narrating! She was easy to listen to, and really made me interested and engaged in the story.

An alright mystery, with a few twists and turns and an interesting villain.

HOWEVER...it suffers from the drunk-so-unreliable main character effect....who continues to mess up her life, make bad decisions...the usual "The Woman/Girl On/In BLANK* so it's nothing new or innovating, but still a fun time and I don't regret listening to it. A good travel book or book to listen to when you have a lot going on, as it's easy to zone in and out to which is sometimes exactly what you need.

Recommended to those who hard die hard crime/thriller/mystery fans who want something new or jaw dropping, but for those who want to dip their toes in or who are new fans - go for it!
